He becomes legion after sale, and also being a Follower (whom I nuked from orbit) made him aggressive once he was removed from the player faction. WeetzCRo96, Non-Aggression-Pact. It’s a term used typically by American Libertarians to Anarcho-Capitalists. It basically means, “You don’t fuck with me or my property and I won’t fuck with you and your property.”
House is relatively self-contained (lol) and he tries to be a good stoic, to the point of being quite acerbic at times, but at least he is genuinely disgusted by many of the right things: cannibalism, slavery, terrorism. I think with the positive karma type of Courier to help him engage with humanity, maybe even develop friendship, he could be the best choice. Convince him to gaf about Freeside, even if out of rational self-interest. He’s also a lot more reasonable in the cut content; he could be talked out of destroying the Brotherhood of Steel and talked into joining the NCR as a citizen. I’m not sure as I’ve not delved into the making of New Vegas but it seems like House’s ending was either leaning toward being a kind of ethically comfortable default, or a writer favorite (which seems more likely given that fans of earlier games are more likely to recognize and identify with the NCR). What bothers me most about House is that in order to save the Kings, a humble but mostly pretty moral Freeside gang, I have to encourage them to take on the military of the largest nation in the known Fallout universe, to prove their loyalty. But I hate that the NCR requires you to kill House, because he and his Securitron army have so much potential to help humanity. It is such a waste. Looking at the history of war and conquest it’s realistic that even the republic of Humanistan would have a foreign opposition leader wacked rather than draw out negotiations for decades with perfectly friendly reciprocity.
I think they purposely did that because they wanted hard choices instead of everything becoming sunshine and rainbows. If you could make peace with the BoS for House or allow House to live under the NCR; the correct choices become pretty apparent. Instead you have to make choices that aren't completely free of unpleasantness. I have seen a few people call House a Psychopath, but I have no idea where they get that. He's not sadistic or callous or dishonest or vengeful or even indifferent to suffering. The fact that he has the power of life and death over the entire Strip, yet almost never resorts to force; shows that he's a lot more decent than most people are with that type of power. He's merely looking at the big picture and working with what he has. He can't help Freeside because he does not have the resources for it at the moment, so he's only focused on The Strip. Besides, he's under not obligation to help Freeside as the condition of the people there are not his fault and even that's still better than most of the Wasteland anyway.

Yes, it is difficult to not engage in cannibalism. That alone was reason to eat Mr. House, the King, and President Kimball- I only had Caesar salad because I botched the surgery and couldn't let good meat go to waste. Consuming the rest of the Legion was more due to Arcade convincing them to try killing me after I sold him. How was I supposed to know he'd get upset when an orbital laser hit Old Mormon Fort?

@@whugnong Well, I couldn't side Legion after I sold Arcade due to how the faction AI works. He becomes legion after sale, and also being a Follower (whom I nuked from orbit) made him aggressive once he was removed from the player faction. Him going aggro due to me being enemy of the Followers also triggered the tick one Legion off they all hate you routine, as he was both.
I think House is ready to give up on the White Gloves, he's like "worse case scenario, I get somebody else to run the Ultra Luxe. Maybe the Kings deserve a shot at it"

House is relatively self-contained (lol) and he tries to be a good stoic, to the point of being quite acerbic at times, but at least he is genuinely disgusted by many of the right things: cannibalism, slavery, terrorism. I think with the positive karma type of Courier to help him engage with humanity, maybe even develop friendship, he could be the best choice. Convince him to gaf about Freeside, even if out of rational self-interest. He’s also a lot more reasonable in the cut content; he could be talked out of destroying the Brotherhood of Steel and talked into joining the NCR as a citizen. I’m not sure as I’ve not delved into the making of New Vegas but it seems like House’s ending was either leaning toward being a kind of ethically comfortable default, or a writer favorite (which seems more likely given that fans of earlier games are more likely to recognize and identify with the NCR). What bothers me most about House is that in order to save the Kings, a humble but mostly pretty moral Freeside gang, I have to encourage them to take on the military of the largest nation in the known Fallout universe, to prove their loyalty. But I hate that the NCR requires you to kill House, because he and his Securitron army have so much potential to help humanity. It is such a waste. Looking at the history of war and conquest it’s realistic that even the republic of Humanistan would have a foreign opposition leader wacked rather than draw out negotiations for decades with perfectly friendly reciprocity.
I think they purposely did that because they wanted hard choices instead of everything becoming sunshine and rainbows.
If you could make peace with the BoS for House or allow House to live under the NCR; the correct choices become pretty apparent. Instead you have to make choices that aren't completely free of unpleasantness.
I have seen a few people call House a Psychopath, but I have no idea where they get that. He's not sadistic or callous or dishonest or vengeful or even indifferent to suffering. The fact that he has the power of life and death over the entire Strip, yet almost never resorts to force; shows that he's a lot more decent than most people are with that type of power. He's merely looking at the big picture and working with what he has. He can't help Freeside because he does not have the resources for it at the moment, so he's only focused on The Strip. Besides, he's under not obligation to help Freeside as the condition of the people there are not his fault and even that's still better than most of the Wasteland anyway.
@@libertatemadvocatus1797 I honestly think he genuinely wants the best for humanity, in his own way. He certainly wants it to survive. He just has a very specific view of what that looks like, and his focus is purely on making that view happen with the resources available to him.
Also he's very old and very detached from others, so his priorities are a bit...warped.
House IS trying his best to help humanity (with minimal cost and maximal profit for himself, but still) the good karma ending esentially says that House is proud of the courier, so he is good, at least in his ideals.

Mr. House is actually the best choice for the people of the Mojave, he's fair, (comparatively) he's competent, he has no interest in cruelty, and he's the best with technology. Put him in the drivers seat, and in a few generations it will almost look like civilization again. An ordered efficient society with lots of stripper and blow.

Eh . . . not necessarily morals. It's a practicality issue. Cannibalism has to be kept secret or else it scares off most of the patrons. Which is bad for business.
