Hell yeah. As much as I love Wish You Were Here and Dark Side Of The Moon, this is my all time fav Floyd album. Growing up listening to my parents music I was drowned in lots of classical and opera, Vangelis, The Beatles and Pink Floyd, and Animals was to most often played Floyd album. It's soaked into my soul
Agreed. I've owned this album ever since it was first released, and can listen to the music any time I want. My whole purpose in watching and listening to this reaction, is to learn how it makes Aileen feel.
In the Good Old Days we bought albums on vinyl and the cover was large enough to have all the lyrics for each track, the artwork and lyrics were an integral part of listening.
I didn’t buy it, it was the year I was born. However, my parents had an original release of Wish You Were Here. They no longer have it. I do. Framed and hanging on my wall.
Yeah we did, but now we can get all the lyrics online as well as a video of the artist taking a shit from a camera they didn't know was there... so there's that
I saw this album Live on their 1977 tour in the old Boston Garden. I won the all time music lottery that night as Animals was the first set then after an intermission, they came back and did all of Wish You Were Here. The encore was a jammed out medley from Dark Side of the Moon. One of the best shows ever, you can hear audio from it on You Tube, it is well worth searching for, David Gilmour used a stinging Fender Telecaster for Animals and his signature Stratocaster for the 2nd set. They had a pioneering 5 channel PA system that was the most immersive I ever heard, the separation was like having headphones on, we were right next to the audio/video island in the center of the floor so close to the focus for it, it was astounding to experience. They were decades ahead of everyone with their show presentation. Hear it ASAP and enjoy! 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶🔥

Can you imagine how excited we were back in the day when a new Pink Floyd album was released? I get almost that excited when I see you've posted a new Pink Floyd reaction.
This girl gets it. Her facial expressions and dancing are exactly what I feel inside when I listen to this. My late Dad's favorite Floyd song and one of my favorite songs of all time. I have very fond memories as a kid with my Dad listening to Floyd with a pair of Klipsch corner horns in our small living room. On more than one occasion we'd have neighbors coming over to see "the live band" they thought we had or even the police coming down from a busy nearby park a block away. One memory I have as maybe a 10 year old (27 years ago), the police knocked on the door for 20 minutes... My dad ignored them until my Mom made him answer the door. The cops told him they could hear the music from down the road and they would write him a ticket if he didnt turn it down. He looked at them and said "I haven't heard this song in years", closed the door, went back to the living room and cranked it. I think it was a Floyd song but I cant remember for sure. Ill have to ask my Mom lol.
Still sounds great on the Klipsch speakers. I recently bought the Animals remaster on Blu-ray with the Atmos mix. It's like listening for the first time again. There are details I've never heard before (same with Dark Side).
Dave Gilmour played the bass on this and “Pigs”. Roger Waters plays the guitar on both. The rhythm guitar explosions on “Sheep” are performed by Gilmour, and the ending notes are also composed and performed by Gilmour. Iconic.
Roger, for all his flaws as an human being, is a genius lyricist and in this album he was at his most poignant, incisive and brutal self. As for David, he did most of his best guitar work here, not only on the solos but also riifing like a maniac, although he probably disagrees. Glorious album.
I think of David Gilmour's guitar work on this album as "Angry David". You can almost feel the tension between Gilmour and Waters reverberating through David's guitars, even though the bass he played on "Pigs" and "Sheep".
Hopelessly passing your time in the grassland away Only dimly aware of a certain unease in the air Such great poetry, so much gravitas in these words... An absolute brilliant song with deep and unsetteling lyrics. Truly one of Pink Floyd's greatest masterpieces.

I love how excited you got with this storyline trip Aileen, great job sharing with us. And you said it, "masterpiece album"... can you imagine being at a live event early 80's was only 10 dollars
Roger Waters was inspired by George Orwell's book "Animal Farm", while recording the "Animals" album. At the end of this song Roger Waters is basically saying all human beings are essentially the same. Power corrupts. Notice how the sheep had an uprising and killed the dogs. They thought themselves became the new dogs and began to abuse the weaker.
David Gilmour is 78 now,and he has just released a new album. His daughter Romany sings on it as well. I recommend you review The Pipers Call from the album. You'll find despite his advancement in age,his output especially on guitar is as good as it ever was.
I saw the Animal concert back in the day at the old Tampa Stadium, Tampa, Fla. They had speakers on all four sides of the stadium and a big pig floating over the stage, plus the world largest chrome ball bearing happen to be hanging over the stage, but that's because it just happens to be there at the time! On the tickets it said "An Evening of Sight and Sound with Pink Floyd!
It's very intentional that the opening of Sheep puts you in a trance. Because the overwhelming majority of us "Sheeple' go through life completely unaware of how they're being controlled and manipulated, anesthetized into a laconic subservient stupor. And those that are aware mostly remain docile because they're comfortable. But should the Sheep collectively awaken and decide they've had enough, all Dogs and Pigs need to run from the demented vengeance Sheep will inflict. If the revolution is successful, then eventually from the revolutionary Sheep, eventually Dogs and Pigs will arise and the entire cycle will start anew. It's human nature. And if a revolution doesn't happen, then after a brief lashing out, the Sheep will just go back to grazing. Btw, Roger, my dogs slightly resent the way they're portrayed.
During their tours in 1974, Pink Floyd played three new songs in the first half of the shows, followed by The Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety. The three new songs were "You've Got to Be Crazy" (which later became "Dogs"), "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" and "Raving and Drooling" (which later became "Sheep"). "You've Got to Be Crazy" and "Raving and Drooling" were originally planned to be on the album Wish You Were Here, but plans changed and they ended up in different forms on Animals as "Dogs" and "Sheep".

But it was awesome all the same! When i saw you reviewing Sheep today. Goosebumps covered my body! I thought " My girl is listening to my music again!! I love it!!
"...you follow the leader down well-trodden corridors into the valley of steel." The sheep being led to the slaughter. The 'valley of steel' is the narrow steel chute that leads to 'processing'. It's the last thing the sheep see before they realise their fate.
Exactly. And the prayer started verse by verse the traditional same...then lamb cutlets? Not part of the program and it makes so much sense considering the theme of the number and the entire album. So creative and relatable.
It's about the oppressive system created by Wealthy Elite Capitalists (pigs), how the F45C15T police state (dogs) rises up to protect the status quo from Revolutionaries, and those who buy into the status quo (sheep). The context is both Roger Waters and George Orwell are Socialists (actual Leftists). I went to the Roger Waters concert in November last year. It’s incredible to see this song live with all the visual effects he brings to the show. It was one of the greatest artistic experiences I've ever had in my life.
Rick Wright really carried so much of the transitions between those memorable motifs throughout this entire album and here on sheep he shows remarkable variety within a single piece.
The middle part around 5:32 is still one of the spookiest things I’ve ever heard, especially in a Pink Floyd song. Those synth lines are incredibly eerie mixed in the pulsating bass, bleating sheep and the Lord’s Prayer in vocoder. Still gives me chills to this day.
Your interpretations of the music and lyrics are spot on without the words...first time i heard this i new it was a killer track then later the lyrics blew my mind its about us!!
The beginning of Rogers spiral into the darkness, this album is uplifting compared to the “Final Cut” album which is basically Roger’s swan song to Pink Floyd. A haunting angry dark yet beautiful album, some of Roger’s best writing but utterly depressing and heartfelt.. try Gunners Dream or South Hampton Dock
Great album. Pink Floyd are masters of beautiful compositions that flow smoothly into each other. Other great albums are Meddle, Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here. And don't stop rambling, just love the way you explain everything how you think and feel about it.
hard to call this album a hidden Gem but it is in that its one of the best albums period but that many people haven't heard of it only pink floydians 5/5 for me much like wish u were here and darkside. all 5/5 albums
Great job Aileen! Thank you for again giving a good listen to the albums and songs out there. I would venture.. Wish you Were Here next from Pink Floyd. Look up the concept of it and why.. then listen to it.. you will love it being in the fringes of the music industry like you are.
Sheep dogs heard ship then off to processing. I seen this show on the "In The Flesh" tour in 1977 at Chicago's Soldier Field along with some 85,000 other fans. That was the Superbowl of Rock Game 2? There was 4 that year and great time to be a teen!
Lyrical genius. One of the greatest albums of all times. Waters' lyrics should be taught in all schools. The world would be so much a better place. Empathy, understanding, a common will to work relentlessly for human rights and a fairer planet.
The seemless transition of Roger's long vocal notes into the synthesizer is pure magic. What a bass groove.
Love the "flanged" bass.
David Gilmour played the bass guitar on both "Sheep" and "Pigs" for this album.

Rick Wright really carried so much of the transitions between those memorable motifs throughout this entire album and here on sheep he shows remarkable variety within a single piece.
Pink floyd and zepp are my 2 fav bands of all time. Floyd takes you on a spirtual journy!
Great gig in the sky, studio
I just wanna say. YOU are so perfect and I love and appreciate you. Amazing soul energy
Great video Aileen, love watching you react to music I love so much. Animals Is a masterpiece just like The Wall and The Final Cut
Hi. Love your video.
Sheep has such a grove. It sounded sooooo good live.
Oh boy, now you are getting into the good stuff.
Hey, thanks for your work.
How can I do recommandations? Where is it?
