Thank you for listening to this song Aileen, it´s the first time i hear it after... well i´ll tell you my story. I had a friend, pretty older than me, i was a teen and this guy already had two kids, he kinda introduced me to a world of music, bands like Van Halen and, well, Pink Floyd. Fast forward many years, his kids grew up and i started playing music with them. My friend, their dad, was so happy because he basically had his own band. He was the one who bought me my first drum kit. We played Pink Floyd a lot, and Pigs was the most difficult song we mastered. Playing that song with them was so special, and i, while playing, always looked at him to get feedback, and he was flying in bliss. Well, he got ill, and sadly, he passed away some months ago. We never played together again. Listening the song with you brought me all those memories, it´s sad but also i am so happy to have lived that with my friend David. Thanks.

The pig over the factory is an inside joke. They had a pig balloon made for a show and it blew away never to be seen again. So it makes an appearance now and again in the artwork.
The pig blimp should have been shot down by a marksman who turned up the first day it was due to fly, over the famous London landmark Battersea Power Station. Just a photoshoot for the album cover, not a stage prop. But the pig didn't fly. On the second day it did fly, and they got the photos. But the marksman didn't come back. The pig blimp broke free and drifted off with the winds. It was spotted by airline pilots at 20,000ft who reported it and were suspected of seeing things/flying under the influence. Eventually the pig came down over Kent, south east of London. The pig was made in Germany, so some wit said when it broke free and left London eastwards, that it was a 'homing pig' 😂 Thus the legend of Pink Floyd and flying pigs was born. From that tour that year and on, they had flying pigs (blimps) at their shows.
Mary Whitehouse used to go on national t.v ,usually chat shows, and have a moan about films that showed nudity ,bad language and violence, she was the moral compass of the 70's ,early 80's for us brits. I remember when vhs recorders first came out and everyone used to go to get films out for the weekend, from an early version of blockbusters, most of the top films were hard to get, so there was an influx of B movies which usually had a lot of soft porn and graphic violence in them. Good for us being teenagers but not good for Mary Whitehouse 😂
It was much better live ,with the wind blowing in off the ocean ,holy shit I remember it like It was yesterday, WOW ,thank you Aileen for bringing back some awesome memories ❤😊💕
Lol. Your mind does move a million miles per hour but that's a good thing. You get it. Pink Floyd's music is designed to be thought provoking. This album was based on the book "Animal Farm" by George Orwell. (He also wrote the book 1984.) Both books worth a read. Gilmour was using a talk box on this song. It's a device that connects the guitar to your mouth with a rubber tube. Love this album.
Pink Floyd was able to create music without any restrictions or rules. They didn't use the familiar blueprints of the industry. They are truly the birth of modern Progressive Rock. They delivered truly inspiring art both sonically and visually to give the listeners a much deeper experience. Many tried to do this...Pink Floyd did it with ease. Animals is fabulous! Dogs is the real banger in my opinion. Cant wait!!! Much love!!❤
Thing about this music its like you dont just hear the music you feel it you see it and you really feel like you experience it ... pink floyd was magic ...
Hey flower, They are singing about Mary Whitehouse she was a British Christian moral campaigner who came to prominence in the 70s. who was constantly trying to "clean up" British TV and British media, and the Haa Haa Haaa on the track was originally swear words but had to be cut out. 👍
Awesome, saw him 4 times with Floyd (twice in the 70s with Waters still in the band) and twice solo, you are in for the treat of a lifetime! Top 3 Guitar player in my lifetime with Hendrix and Page. He was the best I ever saw live. Enjoy! 🎸
@@vicprovost2561, I saw him with the Momentary Lapse of Reason tour and Pulse tour but never solo. I’m excited to see what the set list is going to be.
I went to this concert "Pink Floyd Animals" at Tampa Stadium, Tampa, Fla. They had speakers on all four sides of the stadium and the ticket said, " An Evening of Sight and Sound with Pink Floyd". 😎 They also had a big pig floating over the stage, Plus the world biggest chrome ball bearing was their too, hanging over the stadium!
"Hey you, Whitehouse" is refering to Mary Whitehouse who was a "Morality Officer" in England, not "The Whitehouse" in the US. However, if the lyrics stick then it must be a pig. ========= Yea, I edited it. For some reason I crossed Amy Winehouse with Mary Whitehouse = Amy Whitehouse. Hey, it's old age so don't be judgemental. 60 years of trivia gets jumbled sometimes. Point still stands, Pigs are Pigs. "If you didn't care what happened to me And I didn't care for you We would zigzag our way through the boredom and pain Occasionally glancing up through the rain Wondering which of the buggers to blame And watching for pigs on the wing,"
@@milesbrown68 : Mary, not Amy, not Barbara. She was a Conservative "Morality Officer" in England, who in particular opposed people having sexual Freedom.
I don’t know the “White House or Whitehouse reference isn’t much different with today’s communist party running the country today, Biden/Harris are the new communist regime and that’s why the country is in the shit it is in now. When leaders can’t lead they push blame and that’s what these two clowns are doing and the media is in full force behind them. They want big government and Donald Trump doesn’t, so socialist Democrats get out of your own way and stop blaming Republicans for your problems. You are the problem. Case closed!
Mary Whitehouse was an ultra right Christian political leader in England. She was highly homophonic and I believe anti- immigrant. Most people that embrace those phobias are timid at heart.
She wasn't a leader of anything except a TV 'watchdog' that she set up. She was a 'moral' campaigner always complaining about TV being too sexual. She was also a very conservative Christian who felt that standards in the 1970s were degrading, particularly on TV. She didn't seem to like anything.
I’ve watched your other videos where you reacted to Pink Floyd songs. One song I would highly recommend taking a look at is ‘Us and Then’ from ‘The Dark Side of the Moon.’ It’s a spectacular song. You won’t regret it.
Wait a minute you haven’t done dogs yet! Listen to pigs on the wing part one it’s only a minute and a half or so then listen to dogs that’s the order of the album. Then when you listen to sheep, listen to pigs on the wing part two that is the end of the album and by the way 53 years old dogs is still my favorite song of all times!!!!
Xefinetly my favlurite reclrd lf pink floyd, it has a haunting edge that blends great with their melancholic tune that they never had before or after this record
I saw this tour for this album, what a mind blowing experience. I was going to San Francisco State, and hanging with two my friends from Berkley , one was micro biologist, and we took some LSD for the concert.
Pink Floyd are not only playing guitar, bass, keyboards and drums, the are creating works, sending statements wrapped in musical masterpieces. It's a great pleasure to follow your enthusiastic and appropriate reviews, Aileen, and to witness your smile brightening when the bass sets in ... 😘
The second stanza refers to Margaret Thatcher and the third refers to Mary Whitehouse, who didn't like their music amongst others. She tried to get My Ding-a-ling banned from radio.
Pink Floyd is epic cerebral and aural genius. They are unique in their ability to create sonic and cerebral landscapes of great depth and breadth. Consider Dark Side of the Moon that is the 4th best selling album of all time and was on the Billboard Charts for 778 weeks, 14 years. Amazing
Animals is a concept album that focuses on the sociopolitical conditions of mid-1970s Britain, the album's lyrics describe various classes in society as different kinds of animals: the predatory dogs, the despotic ruthless pigs, and the "mindless and unquestioning” herd of sheep. The album is inspired by a book "Animal Farm" a satirical allegorical novella by George Orwell, first published in England 1945. It tells the story of a group of anthropomorphic farm animals who rebel against their human farmer, hoping to create a society where the animals can be equal, free, and happy. Ultimately, the rebellion is betrayed, and under the dictatorship of a pig named Napoleon, the farm ends up in a state far worse than before. Whereas the novella focuses on Stalinism, the album is a critique of capitalism and differs again in that the sheep eventually rise up to overpower the dogs.
Pink Floyd are legends, they are sync rock, the inspiration for experimental music for disco to house to trance & more, gotta love them for that, love your reaction so cute 😊🤘
Mary Whitehouse's name is a fortunate coincidance. I thought of the building too, when i bougth the album and heard the song. Because it fitted. Everybody i knew hated the people there.
Wikipedia: Constance Mary Whitehouse CBE (née Hutcheson; 13 June 1910 - 23 November 2001)[2] was a British teacher and conservative activist. She campaigned against social liberalism and the mainstream British media, both of which she accused of encouraging a more permissive society.
Album's 3 components: blood thirsty corporate businessmen. Politicians and self proclaimed public opinion "controllers." And the sheeple who do what they're told obliviously. Until they don't. BTW, the 2nd pig specifically is Maggie Thatcher. And the 3rd pig is Mary Whitehouse. Look them up to see why they annoyed Roger.
Great reaction piecing things together. I saw them live in April 1975 at the Cow Palace in San Francisco and 2 years later on the Animals Tour in Oakland at the Oakland Coliseum Arena. They played this entire album and Dark Side Of The Moon, and were at their peak at this show according to many music critics. At the 75 concert they played the entire Dark SIde of the Moon album along with the entire Echoes Album and their new album Wish You Were Here. Incredible
Hi Aileen 😊 An absolute masterpiece of a reaction to Pink Floyd's Pigs 😊👍 I've read all the comments and everyone has filled you in beautifully 😊👍 You laid the foundation, put up the framework and they help you finish the job and the story is complete 😊👍 All the way back with Comfortably Numb, you quickly learned how to approach Pink Floyd and grown to love them as much as we do. People need to listen to your playlist in order to understand you. They need to understand that you take each Pink Floyd song very analytically, philosophically and thoughtfully. You emphasize to people that they need to listen and allow the music to overcome you. Then and only then are you able to experience what the band made the music to be. To be whisked away into the universe that they have created. A couple very beautiful comments have suggested that after you listen to Pigs, Dogs and Sheep to re-listen to the album in its entirety, as you have said to. There are a pair of small songs as bookends call Pigs on the Wing. Part one is at the beginning of the album and part two is at the end of the album, where each is 1 minute and 24 seconds long. The album is 41 minutes and 40 seconds long. That will be completely up to you to react. All of the recommendations in the comments are fabulous and I look forward to your reactions to them. I wanted to let you know David Gilmour has a new album out and is releasing videos off the album and is touring. I will drop the links in Patreon. Have a great day you and Arya with much love 😊👍💪❤️

I WAS THE FIRST KID TO HAVE ONE IN MY STREET, MY FATHER BROUGHT ONE (A KIND OF ASIAN PROTOTYPE), IN A TRIP HE MADE TO SINGAPORE.I saw your phenomenal draw-out ideas in "PIGS". You just forgot "The Animal Farm", by George Orwell, back in the 1920s. All animals had a correspondence in human society, society, and power too. This was before totalitarianism, communism, and Fascism. Orwell predicts all political and social events to come in the next decades. Pigs were dictators, dogs were the Gestapo, and Sheep were the inoffensive, stupid hurd (Heard?!) behaved servants. Very interesting. But "Animals" doesn´t resume to that. The most political thinker in Pink Floyd is Roger Waters, The Eternal Rebel!. The Sarchasm is all over his work and contribution to the genius Pink Floyd. Roger had a special influence on Animals and " The Wall", Of course, he would be nothing without the other (This one is Brilliant and full of talent skills) DAVID GILMOUR- THE PINK FLOYD LEONARDO DA VINCI!
"The lyrics do not describe law enforcement but politics; an allusion to the porcine characters in George Orwell's novel (Animal Farm 1945). The pigs in Orwell's story put on the façade of benign leaders whilst exploiting the fears of the other farm animals (the proletariat) to settle personal scores and further their own interests."
Dont forget the 2 parts of 'Pigs on the Wing' that start and finish this album. They have lyrics worth a listen too, and its short and sweet. In the 80s i recorded both parts back to back on tape to jam along with on guitar. Its cool to sing both parts as one song. Still meaning to learn the entire guitar parts for 'Dogs', but its a big project. Currently im working on 'Coming back to life' of the Division Bell album. Been 2 weeks and i have tge 1st solo down ok-ish, but 2 fast runs still trip me up. The Chords are beginner easy. Next week i start on the 2nd solo. Tgen the 3rd maybe around xmas. Such a musical masterpiece. 'Dogs' and 'The Blue' maybe in the next 2 years.

The pig was made in Germany, so some wit said when it broke free and left London eastwards, that it was a 'homing pig' 😂
Thus the legend of Pink Floyd and flying pigs was born.
From that tour that year and on, they had flying pigs (blimps) at their shows.
This album is a bonafide masterpiece. There's no way they came up with all this by themselves without some divine intervention from elsewhere.
yup, I agree... its called narcotics. LOL
@@Turbobrat_Motorsports😂😂😂
It's called George Orwell's Animal Farm; featuring All 3 Animals mentioned on the album. Pigs, Dogs, Sheep 🤨
Waters Creation. Genius.
You better watch out........there maybe DOGS about !!
Roger waters had said its about a few politicians
Haven't heard this song in at least 40 years. Can't go wrong with classic Pink Floyd. 👍
BTW - I like bacon & sausage ... ribs too. 😋
Congrats on emerging from your 40 year coma!
First time I heard this was in 1977, and was on cannabinol ! Never been the same sense.
One of favorite Floyd albums
You make what's already an amazing song even better with your reactions 😊😊❤
Always loved your facial expressions. You seem to be getting the lyrics correctly. So proud of you girl.
your take on this is excellent, and embodies pure Americana
this song gets it, and you get it
And has nothing to do with “Americana”??? WTF???
Aileen gets it for sure, not sure you do with that statement!
My dear Aileen 😍 love it when you do Pink Floyd 👌🏼
The outro guitar solo is blisteringly good
The piggy solo in the middle was Gilmour on a talk box
Got my tickets for the David Gilmour Hollywood Bowl shows in October. Stoked!❤
Best pink floyd song.
Re-read Animal Farm just a few weeks ago. Man, that book hits hard - and so does the music after a read.
My all-time favorite Pink Floyd album
I love this song so much. Pink Floyd are such masters at thought provoking music. Again loving your reaction Aileen
Great analysis. You get it. The rest of the album is just as good or better.
Keep em coming. Lots more out there
I went to this concert "Pink Floyd Animals" at Tampa Stadium, Tampa, Fla.
=========
Yea, I edited it. For some reason I crossed Amy Winehouse with Mary Whitehouse = Amy Whitehouse.
Hey, it's old age so don't be judgemental. 60 years of trivia gets jumbled sometimes.
Point still stands, Pigs are Pigs.
"If you didn't care what happened to me
And I didn't care for you
We would zigzag our way through the boredom and pain
Occasionally glancing up through the rain
Wondering which of the buggers to blame
And watching for pigs on the wing,"
Mary Whitehouse....not Amy
Mary..Mary you're really a treat.
Sorry, maybe it was "Mary" Whitehouse. ANyway...
"Mary your nearly a treat."
Actually, "White House" is really the last name "Whitehouse", referring to a Brit leader named Mary Whitehouse.
It also makes sense too as he mentions right after , the "proud townhouse" , a reference to 10 Downing.
She was a Conservative "Morality Officer." In particular she opposed sexual Freedom.
@@MikePhillips-pl6ov ...seeing how the world turned out, she may have had a valid point. Now folks don't even grasp the concept of sexes.
the bass riff at the end of the song is so good, the whole last part of the song is proto metal.
Never heard it called that before.
It's amazing how quickly Aileen picks up things. I can listen to a song dozens of times and still not know the meaning of it.
The Pigs are basically the rich, those on top of the social ladder.
Based on Animal Farm and also based on Gone With the Wind. It ties in images and lessons learned from both literary works.
I’ve watched your other videos where you reacted to Pink Floyd songs. One song I would highly recommend taking a look at is ‘Us and Then’ from ‘The Dark Side of the Moon.’ It’s a spectacular song. You won’t regret it.
That’s actually not a bad idea.
Nice and beautiful to have you back on the Floyd wave!😊
Wait a minute you haven’t done dogs yet! Listen to pigs on the wing part one it’s only a minute and a half or so then listen to dogs that’s the order of the album. Then when you listen to sheep, listen to pigs on the wing part two that is the end of the album and by the way 53 years old dogs is still my favorite song of all times!!!!
This is a great album. I went out and bought it around 20 years ago. I was never a big Floyd fan. But this is a great album.
With Pink Floyd concept albums, like this one, it's best to listen to the tracks in order.
You totally should do "Dogs" next! I love the solos in that one and fun fact, the "barking" in that song is Gilmour's guitar.
Great reaction Aileen love you thoughs on it can't wait for the next ones hope you are having a great day ❤
Xefinetly my favlurite reclrd lf pink floyd, it has a haunting edge that blends great with their melancholic tune that they never had before or after this record
Awesome reaction Aileen! cant wait for Dogs. either way still a Great Album!
Thanks
I’m always impressed with how much you get in touch with your inner Floyd Eileen. You’re a credit to the job you do ❤
Pink Floyd is epic cerebral and aural genius.
Aileen, you're really a treat!
The outro solo is stupendous and very underrated
you should listen to it on the live at fort worth 77
😏
the outro is godly
I love how it carries on right through the fade out like the guitarist could have carried on for ever and didn't care that the song was ending.
Hello Aileen🙋🙋🙋
Pink Floyd are legends, they are sync rock, the inspiration for experimental music for disco to house to trance & more, gotta love them for that, love your reaction so cute 😊🤘
Gotta love that cowbell :)
Love the reaction ❤. Dogs is next, prepare to be even more blown away🤘
Thank you for playing my suggestion !!!!
Mary Whitehouse's name is a fortunate coincidance. I thought of the building too, when i bougth the album and heard the song. Because it fitted. Everybody i knew hated the people there.
Great reaction Aileen! I luv this song and this album! My favorite is Dogs! Woof woof Can't wait for your next song reaction!❤🐽🐖/🐶🐕
The building on the cover is Battersea Power Station in London. Iconic
This WHOLE album mesmerized me when I was in high school!! I was enthralled with every track!
Animals is my favorite Pink Floyd album. They are in my mind the best band of any I've heard, this being one of my favorites.
Yes ,there's always a message in a Pink Floyd song 🎶☺️💖
Just imagine the most famous song on the album and the third best song! What’s that tell you about Pink Floyd?
Wikipedia:
Constance Mary Whitehouse CBE (née Hutcheson; 13 June 1910 - 23 November 2001)[2] was a British teacher and conservative activist. She campaigned against social liberalism and the mainstream British media, both of which she accused of encouraging a more permissive society.
This is my favorite Pink Floyd song ❤
Incredible
Animals, is one of my favorite 'Floyd' albums. Thanks for playing music from 'My Time'. Cheers.
Nice tribute to George Orwell, one of the greatest british modern novelists.
You’re about to get on a journey with this album, musically and metaphoric lyrics all over! 😁
one of the best
Great song and a great album. Thank you Aileen
AILEEN, LET ME TELL YOU! YOU´RE ALMOS AS INTELIGENT AS MYSELF (LOL), NO, YOU TRUELLY ARE MUCH MORE BRIGHTER THAN ME, GIRL, I´M 57 AND WENT ALONG WITH PF SINCE, IN 1981, IN PORTUGAL, THE ALBUM "THE WALL" WAS BORN. I DON´T REALLY KNOW HOW MANY TIMES I´VE LISTEN IT ON MY BRAND NEW WALKMAN!
Masterpiece.
Whole album.
Everything they did.
