@@anthonydelorenzo6481 I started with the new one I got violet just because I thought some of the mons looked better then I went to arcius . I loved it.
Yeah, I was never a fan of the wild zone. I don’t know why a lot of the reviewers at the time praised it. A lot of Sword and Shield reviewers were really lenient for some reason as well.
@@elithegaymer I loved the wild areas in Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra though, and I'd go as far as to say I prefer them over the wild areas of Arceus. I don't know if it's just me, but I feel that the wild areas of Arceus are more linear than expected. I was expecting them to be as open as BOTW, but they were just so much smaller and barely have any secrets. With Crown Tundra especially, there were secrets almost everywhere you went, and the environments are so much more interesting as well.
And scarlet and violet are any better lmao the dlc will literally allow access to legendary terastal raids like the crown tundra only difference is sword and shield weren't this horrible at launch most bugs etc were fixed with the first update patch that came out. You sound pressed cope harder kid.
Honestly this guy spoke facts the whole episode. I was just at GameStop returning a game that I got for Christmas to switch it out for a new Pokémon game and I first told the worker legends arceus. Once he grabbed it and scanned it my gut changed and I went with sword. I don’t hate it I like the art style a lot. But the second this man said “with shield and sword, you will regret it a little” it really sunk into me 😂 keep making these great videos
Just started playing pokemon legends arceus, it's everything I wanted the original pokemon to be! There's a more natural bond between you and your pokemon as you fight in the wild and interact with the environment. They did a good job making the player feel immersed between crafting system, fluid combat and strategy (ability to change moves at a whim), incentive to complete the pokedex and making it a fun challenge. Even the pokemon attacks seem more impactful like they actually hit your opponents. I haven't felt the same level of excitement since pokemon yellow first came out on gameboy color. All the other games in the franchise stuck to the old original formula for combat that felt slow, clunky, and made filling the pokedex a chore. As more pokemon are added with each generation, there needs to be a streamlined approach to "catching them all", and legends does that perfectly. I hope they make more games similar to legends just with better graphics and gym leaders to battle.
Yes! Pokemon Legends Arceus is just on another level. It does things that make me think, THIS is what they should have been doing a long time ago! The world feels so alive and the Pokemon actually feel like they belong in both the town and the world. After playing Violet, I'm glad that they added some things from Legends, but they dropped the ball on so many other things... I wish they would give Legends some DLC and they better make another Legends game!
Pokémon sword and shield was my first Pokémon game in general as a whole. It was okay but it felt too small a game, I beat the story in like a day. Arceus legend on the other hand, which was my second Pokémon game, took more or less a week binging it while doing other side quests etc. It’s hands down a monster of a Pokémon game and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking to get into Pokémon games
Yeah, I love Pokémon Legends Arceus as well! I really hope that they make another legends game… It’s better than any other mainline game that they have made in a long time. I wish they would do DLC for Legends instead of Scarlet/Violet… I would buy that in an instant!
@@elithegaymerthanks for the tip! i’ve never played a pokémon game in my life and been doing some research on which game i want to buy to be my first one. your video has helped lots, thanks!
Hey Eli, I used your video to decide on Let’s Go: Eevee and I am very happy with my choice! I can’t know until I try the others how they compare, but I have played Arceus and agreed with your review. Thanks for taking the time to do this, I’ll share with friends when they ask the same question.
Growing up, I wasn't allowed to watch or play Pokemon. Now that I'm a little into my adult life I'm looking forward to giving the games a try. This list really helped me know which games to get, thank you.
I hope you enjoy them! I knew lots of kids (both now and back in the 90s) who weren’t allowed to play video games at all, so you’re definitely not alone in that aspect!
I had a friend growing up who literally only got 20 minutes a day to play video games. All he had was a Sega Genesis so let's just say we never got far in the games he had lol.
Thank you for this! I bought Pokemon Let's Go: Eevee for my new switch. No regrets about it. Polished, smooth and nostalgia! I only played Kanto Region until Pokemon Emerald and was hesitant to play the new ones because I might fall short catching up. But still, this Let's Go is a refresh and the best to start with. Would try out Legends afterwards.
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! I’m glad you like Let’s Go! I really enjoyed seeing all my childhood favorites actually roaming around the world! I hope you enjoy legends as well!
Thanks for making your video short and sweet. Buying a switch for my husband since he still plays Pokémon with his Nintendo 😂 want to make sure I get the right game for him and this helped a lot!
Well, Let's Go and Acreus are both great games! I hope you enjoy them! Definitely stay away from the other two games to start and only play them if you can't get enough of Pokemon, haha.
I got a switch last christmas and played pokémon sword as my first game. And i loved it and couldn’t get enough of it. Then i played pokémon arceus and put near 100 hours in it. All games you can choose are good other than let’s go and brilliant diamond/ shining pearl. Scarlet and violet just came out and i think they will be very enjoyable as well
I love let's go eevee and pikachu. You don't have to worry about your pokemon being too strong trying to catch or you come across a shiny. You forgot about the pokemon snap game. Really good game 😊
I do like Pokémon Snap, but it’s not a mainline game. There’s also mystery dungeon (again not a mainline game) that I’ve never played. There’s also some download only spin off games.
Problem with let’s go Pikachu and Eevee is that it’s literally the easiest Pokémon game of all time in an already easy series. I understand it’s very kid friendly but if they wanted that they should have given options for difficulties.
Well, if you like exploring cities, you might not like Violet/Scarlet... You can't go inside any of the people's homes and even most stores are just a menu, haha. There are arena fights though!
I have never played a pokemon game... I watched the first 3 seasons as a kid but i stopped watching it. I'm 29 now and I'm rewatching the 1st season. I'm very nostalgic. Now I'm very excited to play my first pokemon geme!
That’s great! I really enjoyed Let’s Go and Legends Arceus! If you love season one of the anime, you might really like Let’s Go because it’s mostly based on the anime! Anyway, thanks for taking the time to comment!
thank you for this video! i am painfully new to Pokemon, i recognize some of the main Pokemon and that's about it. i've been trying and trying to figure out which game to start with and not having a lot of luck, but i actually tried the demo for Let's Go Eevee today and thought that seemed good. based on what you discussed here, that's where i'm going to start! :)
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave such a nice comment! I hope you enjoy Let’s Go! I think if you like it from the beginning you’ll love the rest of the game as well.
Thank you I was really trying to decide which one to get because he’s games are so expensive! So I was trying to figure out which one to get first to see if I like them compared to the originals you really helped me out. Thank you so much!
Loved let's go pikachu now I'm on legends arceus and yea this is the game I waited for since I started my journey ages ago. Giant maps full of pokemon, quests and epic battles with attacks that really blow my mind. It's awesome, like a dream come true. 😊
Thanks for this. Feeling very nostalgic. I grew up with the anime (Indigo League) and was playing Gold on my pc. Was thinking of buying a Switch just to satisfy my nostalgia. Now I know which is most suited for me: Let's Go it is. I am not a big fan of newer generations. For me, generations 1+2 are the best, as is the original storyline (Indigo League).
Thanks for taking the time to comment! Yeah, I think you will like Lets Go if you liked Pokemon Yellow! This game has amazing graphics and seeing the Pokemon in the wild is so fun!
I hope you enjoy both games! The Switch has an excellent collection of games so I think the Switch OLED is a good choice, especially if you play on the go. Or you're like me, and sometimes play on the coach, sometimes play in bed, haha.
No problem! Also, if you play Let’s go, two players can play together . The second player can run around on the map, also throw poke balls when catching Pokémon, and the battles become two on two with each player controlling one Pokémon!
I’ve played every game so far on the switch and I can’t agree more. I was a bit cautious about getting it until recently I played at a friends house and I loved it. It brings a new interest into filling the Pokédex and the olden time effect which is really cool. Evolved so much since my leaf green on the gba!
Yeah, to me, the Pokemon games were amazing and revolutionary at the time, but they have evolved so slowly since then. On the Switch, I feel like some of the games have finally taken it to the next level!
Only game of these 4 I’ve played is Let’s Go Eevee and I absolutely loved it. Had the nostalgia of Gen 1 but with modern touches. I don’t like how you can’t battle wild Pokémon, but apart from that I have no complaints. I’m not really interested in Sword/Shield/Diamond/Pearl but I am interested in Legends Arceus. Also interested in Scarlet and Violet. Might give one of those & legends a try.
@@elithegaymer thanks for recommendation mate. I will definitely give it a go at some point. I’ve heard good things about it. I’m just not so keen on Sword/Shield/Diamond/Pearl, but that’s just me. Doesn’t necessarily mean they’re bad games. LOVED let’s go. I picked Eevee because Eevee is one of my favourite Pokémon 😁
Feel like diamond and pearl deserve more respect, they’re not supposed to be anything new and they let us know that in the trailer. Bdsp are just if you want to play the orginal games with new graphics and some quality of life changes, id give it 7.5
I’m a casual adult who didn’t play Pokémon growing up, always preferred action, and Ultra Sun was nice until I got bored with it . Let’s Go has been a great new start with the series for me, I like the chill vibe of it , perfect for the switch. I have Shield to play next, and I will get to Arceus when I have more time to invest on it ( Warframe, ahem).
Never played a pokemon game but i seen arceus was like a open world rpg and was instantly intrigued and im so happy seeing it #1 i was scared after reading reviews saying viloet was better but i trusted my gut and i have no regrets!!
If you like the easier games, then you should enjoy Let's Go as well! I think Arceus is more for hardcore gamers, haha. Even for me, the boss battles are a little bit too difficult (some I had to retry several times).
I 100% agree with this list. I am curious if you played the new Pokemon Snap. I thoroughly enjoyed that and it would be number 2 in my list after Legends Arceus.
Oh, I guess if we add in Pokemon snap our lists are slightly different, haha. I would put it right in the middle. Above SP BD & SwSH for sure but I didn't like it as much as Lets Go and Legends. I really liked Snap but I wish the pacing in general was just a little bit faster.
Let's go Eevee is so good! Literally loved it. I'm not really a fan of Arceus honestly, because the pokemon are scary and it's not really giving the pokemon vibes that you're normally used to, which is obvious since it's from the past but just not my preference hahaha. Still deciding between Diamond and Violet rn
@hooaah5561Gen 9 is Scarlet and Violet the 2 School Academies Naranja and Uva Orange and Grape. I like that its a MMO Multiplayer if only it allowed more than just 4 players
I was neglected as a kid, and Pokemon games were always kind of the way I escaped from that environment. Coming back to the franchise with a Switch more than a decade later, in my mid 30s, and I am in love! Like, I definitely get your criticisms, but I have enjoyed Scarlet / Violet - and Sword and Shield made me cry, lol. Hop's story was so cute, and I was so invested. I am saving Areceus for last, because the new legends is coming out soon! :) But I've been having a blast in all of them, and I am SO EXCTED :D Also, I remember kind of falling off because some of the Pokemon designs just started to feel REALLY unappealing at a certain point, but I feel like these new games are great - and the new Pokemon designs are beautiful all around! Some things are kind of weird, but they definitely aren't a bag of literal garbage, lol.
My switch is arriving today and I needed this!!! I haven’t played Pokémon since gen 2 (and a bit of Pokémon go) so I wanted something nostalgic and will definitely be going for let’s go pikachu!
I haven't got Sword/Shield or Scarlet/Violet yet. But so far I definitely agree that Arceus is the best game for a LOT of reasons. Not least of which is that you actually get the full experience without having to either buy two games or trade with someone who bought the one you don't have. Pokemon games are expensive enough as they are. And Game Freak nickle and diming the players by the parallel game releases I've always found quite scummy.
Yeah, I also love that Legends is just one game, instead of all the others that come in a pair. It's even more of a bummer because the games rarely go on sale... and when they do it's usually only like $10 or $20 off... I would buy Pokemon Eevee if it were ever $20 or so.
You know, I have never bought two versions of any of the Pokémon games… but I still kind of have the urge to get Pokémon Eevee! I keep waiting for it to go on sale though because I don’t want to buy it full price.
Thank you for this video ❤️ I just bought Pokemon Violet but still not played it yet on my switch but now I feel like my heart going to regret if I don't try to play Pokemon Archeus first lol
Let’s go pikachu/Evee are masterpiece’s I wish brilliant diamond and shining pearl should have got the let’s go treatment honestly jhoto and hoenn I hope they get the treatment. Only flaw is give us the option to battle wild Pokémon
If Lets Go Pikachu had the improvements from Leafgreen and Firered, I think Let's Go would be one of my all time favorites! But as is, it's just a little bit lacking in the end game. I do wish they had improved upon the formula instead of ditching it, but I love Legends as well, so I can't complain about that! BUT, Diamond/Pearl remakes are awful. I agree, they should have been lets go editions!
i just ordered the switch lite and legends arceus. coming this weekend. i feel even better after this video, thanks so much!!!! edit: im def going to get legends z when that releases. i came back to pokemon after my childhood, during x&y. very excited
ty for your reviews! I'm only 21 but I'm kind of an oldschool when it comes to pokemon games, only played the games up to Platinum, so everything that came out later are new to me. honestly, with a new game each year, it gets veryy confusing @_@ but I'm glad there are videos like these in here. I was looking to try Brilliant Pearl but you've convinced me to try Let's Go Pikachu first. I'm all in for some nostalgia with good looking graphics!
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment! I appreciate it. If you are a big Pokemon fan, then I think you will enjoy all of the games (to varying levels). Have fun with them!
Our first game on switch was Shining Pearl and for my 7 year old son it was a perfect choice. A lot of Pokémon’s and a lot of time spend. Based on your review we will try the Let’s go next (it is also the one that looks the most like Shining Pearl which I think is crucial for my son)
I hope he enjoys Let’s Go as well! The mechanics are a bit different. If he really liked Pearl, then he would probably like Sword or Shield as well since the mechanics are all mostly the same as Pearl.
I just bought the diamond on clearance for £20 as a intro to Pokémon as I’ve never played and didn’t want to splash in case I didn’t like it. I’m enjoying it so looking forward to the rest if they are better
At first, I felt it was harsh that you were putting sword/shield #3. But then I thought about your explanation. I enjoyed it while I was playing, but I also had no desire to keep playing after the credits rolled. And I've never gone back to it.
Did you go back to Pearl and Sword? I actually spent a decent amount of time with Let’s Go and Arceus. I’ve played quite a few Pokémon games and to me… the formula has gotten stale. Let’s Go and Arceus both feel fresh… Like new games. I know some people love to hate on Let’s Go, but I love the graphics, the gameplay loop, and the shiny hunting methods. I DO wish there were more end game content though. I felt motivated enough to complete the whole Pokédex in Arceus and Let’s Go. I lost interest in Sword and Pearl way too early for that.
I finished Pokémon let’s go pikachu in 1 week. It brought back memories of me playing Pokémon fire red when I was younger. That’s probably one reason why I finished quickly is because I’m used to the storylines already My only issue is that they didn’t add island 1,2,3 to the game just like in fire red. As a result it’s kinda hard for me keep interest in the game when there are less places to travel in the region. Also fire red had the legendary dogs, this one doesn’t .
Yeah, if Let's Go had added the Firered and Leafgreen additions, I think it would be a 9/10 for me! I do wish they had either added that content or something else to do in the endgame. For me that's what keeps it firmly below Pokemon Legends Arceus.
Am I the only person who also enjoys pokemon snap? Lol I am glad I only bought let's go pikachu though as it seems the best of the first 3. It fuses old school play with modern looks! I think they should make a pokemon game like pokemon go combined with arceus! Free roam but you get to choose if you battle and what type of battle like coordinator or gym etc. Or if you want to be a researcher and just collect all th pokemon in every region etc!
Haven't played any Pokémon since the original Silver on my Game Boy Pocket back in '99 (god, I'm old). Really do not like the ball throwing mechanic in the Go games (or that you have to play it using only one single Joy Con, which is beyond annoying), and Nintendo doesn't give you any chance to demo any game besides the Go games, even tho they all cost 60 bucks. I just want to have an experience like back in the day, just with nicer graphics. I don't care about the open world or the ball throwing bs, but the only games that seem to run by the old formula are consistently raked as the worst ones, so I have no clue which one to get.
I just have nostalgia blinders for BDSP - the second I heard the music I was like this is the best moment of my life 🤣 ignoring that though the lack of platinum content was an all around disappointment. Still I would place it higher than sword and shield because I felt like that game was so empty and lifeless in the towns and my favorite part about Pokémon is seeing the unique towns and uncovering their mysteries. Since I haven’t yet played Arceus, I can’t comment on that but I 100% agree with you on Let’s Go Pika/Evee! That game brought me to tears I loved it so much. I don’t think them switching things up had any effect on me loving the nostalgia and only enhanced the experience. I also played it after getting fired for the first time in my life last year so it really brought my spirits up seeing Brock and misty and the gang 😂💓
Yeah, I don't know why more people don't love Let's Go. It's such a fun and beautiful game. If it had better endgame content, I think it would be one of the best Pokemon games ever. You should definitely try Arceus when you get the chance! It's a great game.
Hey it’s ok that you got fired. Think of it like getting an “F” for the first time. It happened to us all and soon you’ll be realizing that you’ll be quitting before they can even fire you. Heads up, grins up, love yourself! ❤️🤘🏾
I wish they would do that as well! There have long been rumors that Nintendo will add GB, GBC, and GBA games on the Switch… but then it never happens. Hopefully they will announce something soon.
Damn, just got a switch and try to decide which game to play. Invested tons of hours in gen 1 to 4. Not so much on the followed Gens, but still a lot. And now o really have no idea which game I should choose on switch especially when the opinions around them diver so much. Arceus looks pretty cool tho
i tried play arceus like maybe for 4-5 hours and i already beat up pokemon violet, and now i start playing pokemon sword.. i don't know why, i just love the sword version, i mean, i freakin love a open world game like arceus and violet, and my favorite is violet. but i feel like, the graphics, color, and the battle animation, pokemon sword are better than violet, i feel pokemon sword have a better battle animation, like the transition is very smooth. but still my favorite type of game is open world, so i still love pokemon violet, and i hope they add more gen 1 pokemon in the future, such as bulbasaur, squirtle, vulpix etc
Pokemon Shining Pearl has a 50% off sale on a local store and I was debating whether i should get it or not, this video made me realize why its 50% off
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were developed by ILCA instead of Game Freak. That's why Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were lackluster compared to the Let's go Pikachu and Eevee, and other pokemon games released for the switch.
Thank you for this review! I’ve been on the fence about which one to purchase so this definitely helps, but oh how I miss the old game boy and ds Pokémon games.
Last played Gold/Silver and Crystal back in the late 90s/early 2000s. Now in my mid 30s and planning to get a switch lite. Which switch Pokemon game should I get? Will I be overwhelmed with new Pokemons?
I would reccomend playing the DS pokemon games. They're the best in the series. The best pokemon game ever made in my opinion is actually the remake of pokemon silver/gold/crystal called pokemon soulsilver/heartgold.
I think they didn't continue with more "Let's Go" type of games because fan reaction was so mixed! Some of us liked it... others did not. I personally love it when they try mixing up the formula and trying new things. I do really like the way Arceus did catching Pokemon as well though... And my biggest worry with Violet/Scarlet is... I don't want to go back to the old way of catching Pokemon (but it seems like they did).
Currently playing through Violet. Absolutely loving it, I might still give Arceus a go though. As a new Pokemon fan I find it so overwhelming how many there is
I only own Pokémon shield, it's my first big Pokémon since red and blue on the Gameboy but today in getting let's go Pikachu because I really like the link to Pokémon go. My problem with shield is just like you said, it's so slow. It looks nice but god everything takes forever, I remember on the original games how you'd just set off from the get go. Pick your starter then just start your adventure but in shield IT TAKES SO LONG JUST TO ACTUALLY START PLAYING THE GAME.
My worst to best: 4. Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl 5/10 - Like you said, there was absolutely nothing new or unique about this game. Not a fan of the storyline pacing and the Pokemon types and spread of them in this generation. Like where were all the fire types? I felt that too many Pokemon were similar types or had overlapping types. I'm someone who wants a team of different Pokemon types, and it was difficult for me to do that without picking a Pokemon that I wasn't really a fan of. Also, Dialga is supposedly the creator of time, but what the hell does he even do in this game? He just pops up and you catch/defeat him. You don't get to travel through time or whatever. The underground didn't really do it for me either....I found it boring and tedious. 3. Pokemon Legends: Arceus 7/10 - Hot take here, and I like this game...but I was expecting so much more. I thought that this was the Pokemon game that I wanted all along after watching the trailers, and I was super excited, but so much of this game feels like a knock-off of both Zelda BOTW and Monster Hunter Rise, in terms of the sound and mechanics. The catching mechanic felt fresh, but I was expecting the wild area to be bigger and more open. I don't think they're that colourful and there are not that many secrets to find. While it's cool that you're able to fly, I would've preferred it if you could choose your own ride Pokemon. Again, I'm not the biggest fan of the Hisuian Pokemon's appearances and typings. A lot of their types overlap once again. The characters are fine, and although I'm fine with the plot, I think I've seen better storylines before. I think I wanted to see more cities...I'm not a fan of games with hub worlds for some reason. I find the boss battles a little lame, I can't quite explain why. Again, Dialga and Palkia don't do anything regarding time and space. Why is this game called Arceus when he isn't even seen or get mentioned during the base game? That's my other problem. Why do you have to get 100% to meet the character that the game is meant to be about? 2. Pokemon Let's Go 7.5/10 - The nostalgia was super strong with this one. This game was the exact reason why me and my brother got a Nintendo Switch in the first place. No other Switch game made me feel the way this game did during the first few hours. I think the graphics here are the best of any Pokemon game. It's a lot more realistic and less cartoony than other Pokemon games. Loved seeing Pokemon in the wild for the first time, and I was fine with the more catching and less battling mechanic, after all...this is supposed to be a different game from Red/Blue/Yellow. I also liked the extra plot that they gave such as the Cubone storyline, and I liked how this game takes place years after the originals. The characters are also very well-developed. Once the dust settled and the nostalgia slowly went away, I think this game is just good, not great. I never played FireRed and LeafGreen, but I know that there were extra places to visit after beating the Elite 4. I was excited to visit them for the first time in this game, but I never got that. I feel like this game was a bit on the easy side, and I'm not a fan of the shared XP thing and that you could gain XP from just catching Pokemon. I also didn't like that the HMs were replaced by those transports that Eevee was using. All in all, I like this game, but I do think nostalgia does blind me a little. 1. Pokemon Sword/Shield 8/10 - I had my issues with this game when I first completed the base game, but with every disappointment I had, there was always a big redeeming quality about it. The numbers don't lie, I've played this game for 1000+ hours, so I have to put this at #1. My disappointments include #1 The main base game wild area being a bit lackluster #2 The lack of missions to do in between gyms (for eg. battling Team Rocket in the game corner and saving Silph Co. from them) #3 The lack of secret places to explore outside of the main story (for eg. Gen 1 had Cerulean Cave & Power Plant, Gen 2 had the areas with Ho-Oh and Lugia, Gen 3 had Sky Pillar & Power Plant etc.) #4 The laziness being obvious later in the story and in later gyms...I can tell they put a lot of effort into developing the story, characters and gym leaders in the first 3 gyms, like the gym activities in the first 3 have a lot more going on than the later ones. Look at Spikemuth for eg....it's a stupid excuse for a city. However, with all these disappointments out the way, we also have perhaps some of my favourite Pokemon since Gen 2 or 3. The types are well-balanced and evenly spread, and it was a lot easier for me to pick a team because of that. Sword/Shield also have my favourite characters to date - Sonia, Marnie, Nessa, Leon, Piers & Chairman Rose. All of them are very well-developed characters. The story is one of the better ones too, despite not having much to do between gyms. I would put it 2nd behind Sun & Moon in terms of stories. I find that the ending of most Pokemon stories are usually quite boring. You have to go through Victory Road, defeat the Elite 4 and then defeat the champion. However, with Sword/Shield, it was very different. You had an actual league format in a stadium which made things interesting, and then in the middle of it, you had to battle the bad guys and Eternatus, which made the final battle with Leon more climactic than the other final battles. On top of that, I thought the Dynamax mechanic was pretty interesting. It made the online battles so much better than before, which were extremely addicting, especially the double battles. Like I said, I spent 1000+ on the game. Guess where most of it went? Also, the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra made things so much better, especially Crown Tundra. Those two have the best wild areas/open worlds from a Pokemon game yet, with their colourful/different landscapes, secrets and exciting legendary Pokemon. To sum it up, despite its flaws, I've had the best memories from this game out of all 4, and I was hoping for a 3rd and 4th DLC, which never happened.
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! I’m surprised that you would choose Sword & Shield as your number one! It seems fans are split on which one they like the best. I’m really curious what they will do next. You’d think Scarlet/Violet DLC, but the base games are so unstable… I’d prefer to see them do Arceus DLC. I think the environments in Arceus were more varied than S/V. Interesting locations were few and far between in S/V.
Thanks for the vid!! Just bought a switch and dont know which pokemon play... as a Red and yellow fan I believe that I should go for pokemon GO! but Arceus seems to be very funny... the only thing is that im playing zelda and im afraid to think graphics are too much the same!
Swap 2nd and 3rd I’d agree completely Sword and Shield was such a solid game and I agree on it being slow cause it was but LGE and LGP was the same as BDSP nothing that different just made in 3D
I feel like they give you everything you want but like accross loke 8 games if they would just combind those best aspects they would have that everything you want awesome game
For me Sword and Shield #1, It's looks like "original" gameplay but in new graphics and quality of life changes. Arceus is unique but it tooks modern roads. Sword and Shield still will be for me original experience of pokemon games on modern device. Love it soo much.
@@Salmon_Toastie sword/shield? Depends what is "cool" pokemon for you. I liked the idea that there is not every single pokemon and we have different ones too, because we are in another country/region. Two expansion adds a lot of original pokemons.
@@Reame33 Yeah i hate that idea thats the thing ahaha, every game up until sword/shield you could have access to the entire pokedex. Don't get me wrong im really enjoying shield atm, my favs are all there barring one. 100% when we eventually get to switch rom hacks sword shield will have a modded dex to include everyone.
Very helpful video. I’m looking for a game to introduce my 6 year old (also named Eli) to Pokémon. Do you think Arceus or Lets go Pikachu would be better for him?
I think Lets Go would be the better choice! Arceus is aimed at a slightly older crowd and has some slightly more difficult boss battles that might be difficult for a younger gamer to beat. I think Lets Go Pikachu is the best option for younger fans because its a bit easier and was made to be enjoyed by everyone, both young and old.
I am 40 years old, never played any of this franchise, I got Arceus because of this video and now I am hooked. I have even been playing Violet.
Glad to hear that you are enjoying Arceus as well! And thanks for taking the time to leave a nice comment!
Hey same here! 39, and have never played a Pokémon game but am looking for my first Pokémon game…you recommend arceus over the others?
@@anthonydelorenzo6481 I started with the new one I got violet just because I thought some of the mons looked better then I went to arcius . I loved it.
I promise you guys the old ones are even better
All you old guys got to journey through the lands of: Kanto and Johto. Trust us!
Sword feels like a husk of a pokemon game. No encounter is special if you can go to a wild zone and catch half the pokedex
What are you talking sorry but actually like the that they have made it
@@SafwansWorldETC I'm glad you enjoy it
Honestly this guy spoke facts the whole episode. I was just at GameStop returning a game that I got for Christmas to switch it out for a new Pokémon game and I first told the worker legends arceus. Once he grabbed it and scanned it my gut changed and I went with sword. I don’t hate it I like the art style a lot. But the second this man said “with shield and sword, you will regret it a little” it really sunk into me 😂 keep making these great videos
definitely going to go with Arceus, it’ll be my first pokémon game i’ve ever played on console :) thank you for this simple and honest review
How was it? Would you recommend it?
I wish they would give Legends some DLC and they better make another Legends game!
in opposite, I like the original battle system
Definitely the best Pokemon switch game even more so than Scarlet and Violet.
Imo im not a fan tbh
Well well if it isint wooloo my og bud in pokemon go
Hey Eli, I used your video to decide on Let’s Go: Eevee and I am very happy with my choice! I can’t know until I try the others how they compare, but I have played Arceus and agreed with your review. Thanks for taking the time to do this, I’ll share with friends when they ask the same question.
Wow, thanks for taking the time to come back and leave such a nice comment! I really appreciate it.
Thank you: I was a bit lost with all those Pokemon games out there. Now, I know which one I'll have to purchase.
You’re welcome! Thanks for taking the time to watch and leave a comment!
I hope you enjoy legends as well!
feeling the same! Probably gonna start with pokemon go! and afterwards try out Legends
Pokémon legends Arceus is worth every penny, best Pokémon game in a while.
What version of switch you buy if I can know it 😁, i really wanna buy switch just don't know gonna buy what type
@@L.4utumnoled is the best
Thanks for making your video short and sweet. Buying a switch for my husband since he still plays Pokémon with his Nintendo 😂 want to make sure I get the right game for him and this helped a lot!
Thank you for taking the time to leave a nice comment! I'm glad this video was able to help you.
thanks for the input! I'm planning to buy a switch sometime during Christmas and was unsure on what games to go with it.:)
Scarlet and violet just came out and i think they will be very enjoyable as well
Same
Same lol
I'm buying legend Arceus
I love let's go eevee and pikachu. You don't have to worry about your pokemon being too strong trying to catch or you come across a shiny. You forgot about the pokemon snap game. Really good game 😊
I do like Pokémon Snap, but it’s not a mainline game. There’s also mystery dungeon (again not a mainline game) that I’ve never played. There’s also some download only spin off games.
@@elithegaymer You should try pokémon mystery dungeon explorer of sky, great story
I like Let’s Go, but had only played Ultra Sun on 3Ds and never finished it.
Problem with let’s go Pikachu and Eevee is that it’s literally the easiest Pokémon game of all time in an already easy series. I understand it’s very kid friendly but if they wanted that they should have given options for difficulties.
Thanks for the rundown. Getting a Switch soon, was very helpful!
You’re welcome! Thanks for taking the time to watch and leave a nice comment!
As a big fan of pokemon series, I was impress with Arceus. Can’t believe new gen series can impress me that much. Great review btw
Im playing Arceus rn and I like it a lot, but I honestly miss the arena fights and exploring some cities
Well, if you like exploring cities, you might not like Violet/Scarlet... You can't go inside any of the people's homes and even most stores are just a menu, haha. There are arena fights though!
Just completed it yesterday. Its by far the best and most fun pokemon game I have played in a long time.
@@elithegaymer ah excellent! I was thinking on getting legends. But if let's go is the one you recommend I'll go for that! Thanks!!
@@victormurphy7956 They are both great games! I think if you play Arceus first though it will be hard to go back and play the others, haha.

thank you for this video! i am painfully new to Pokemon, i recognize some of the main Pokemon and that's about it. i've been trying and trying to figure out which game to start with and not having a lot of luck, but i actually tried the demo for Let's Go Eevee today and thought that seemed good. based on what you discussed here, that's where i'm going to start!
No problem! Thank you for taking the time to leave a nice comment! I appreciate it.
@@elithegaymer np😊 have a great day! (I ended up getting let’s go eevee 1st then arceus, definitely worth it!!)
I’m a big Pokémon Go player but thinking of getting a switch Oled. I think let’s go pikachu and arceus are the top of my list. Thank u for this 😊
I hope you enjoy both games! The Switch has an excellent collection of games so I think the Switch OLED is a good choice, especially if you play on the go. Or you're like me, and sometimes play on the coach, sometimes play in bed, haha.
really appreciate the breakdown as a dad attempting to play them with his 8-year-old!
THANK YOU!!! Straight forward + well explained

You should definitely give Arceus a try when you get the chance! I'm glad to hear that you also enjoyed Let's Go.
Bdsp are just if you want to play the orginal games with new graphics and some quality of life changes, id give it 7.5
I had the most fun with the BDSP lol
I’m glad to hear that! I had so much fun with Legends Arceus.
Sword and shield was super fun and easy to learn as a newbie Pokémon fan at 34 lol Definitely want Arceus just a little intimidated by it…
If you like the easier games, then you should enjoy Let's Go as well!
I really liked Snap but I wish the pacing in general was just a little bit faster.
where would violet and scarlet be?

Thanks for taking the time to comment! I hope you enjoy whichever game you chose.
Diamond>. Just play it for the vibes, violet is just sad.
@@enrique2079 totally agree with you.
Avoid gen 9 its horrible doesn't feel like Pokémon don't recommend.
:) But I've been having a blast in all of them, and I am SO EXCTED :D
Also, I remember kind of falling off because some of the Pokemon designs just started to feel REALLY unappealing at a certain point, but I feel like these new games are great - and the new Pokemon designs are beautiful all around! Some things are kind of weird, but they definitely aren't a bag of literal garbage, lol.
Thanks just got switch for Pokemon games !! Starting with the best one !!
I hope you enjoy it!
Since I never played anything after leaf green, I’m really excited to play Shining Pearl
Haha, wow, I'm almost the same as you you! Pre-Switch I'd only played the originals, Leafgreen, and Pearl. Missed all the others.
Yo, thanks for this. Dunno why I never heard of Arceus before. Looks good
Yeah, it came out in between two other Pokémon releases so it’s understandable that you missed it. Hope you enjoy it!

My switch is arriving today and I needed this!!! I haven’t played Pokémon since gen 2 (and a bit of Pokémon go) so I wanted something nostalgic and will definitely be going for let’s go pikachu!
Thanks for taking the time to leave a nice comment! I really like my Switch and I hope you enjoy it as well!
I love let’s go eevee because we actually got to play like Pokémon yellow but with eevee instead of Pikachu it’s been amazing
You're welcome! Thanks for taking the time to comment! I hope you enjoy both games!
I hope you enjoy your new switch and the game! I am also looking forward to the next Legends game. I am glad that’s become its own spin off series!
You say it doesn’t bring anything new to the table. I don’t think I’m alone that I want an updated remake of blue/red. OG
The fact that Pokemon Lets Go got mega evolutions is a big PLUS for me
Im gonna play these Pokemon games with my 8years old Niece. 😍

I love the sword and shield dlc. It's interesting and fun, I also love the legendary pokemon
I've got pokemon violet right now and might try and get pokemon legends arceus since I saw some gameplay and really want it
ty for your reviews!
That last one reminds me of zelda breath of the wild so much
Our first game on switch was Shining Pearl and for my 7 year old son it was a perfect choice.
Let’s go Evie nailed the modernization of old Pokémon graphics !
Yeah! I think to this day it’s still graphically the best mainline game! It looks great and everything just goes together so well.
Great review
I played the original diamond, pearl, platinum love those games
I just bought the diamond on clearance for £20 as a intro to Pokémon as I’ve never played and didn’t want to splash in case I didn’t like it. I’m enjoying it so looking forward to the rest if they are better
Nice! Yeah, I always try to get games on sale as well. I’m glad you enjoyed it! I hope you get a chance to try the others some day as well.
Good video and solid reasoning
That’s probably one reason why I finished quickly is because I’m used to the storylines already
My only issue is that they didn’t add island 1,2,3 to the game just like in fire red.
I like Pokémon snap, but it’s not a mainline game. Haha, I’ve considered doing a second video about the spin offs (Snap, New Snap, Unite, Cafe, etc.)
@elithegaymer ah yeah I got ya! that would be a cool video :) I actually prefer the spinoffs but I'm a little odd like that haha
In comment on the "Pokemon following you" bit, it even looked better in HG/SS than in Pokemon BD/SP.
I'm 40 and my gf's 6yo child is obsessed with pokemon. I've never played before. So, Thank you for your video. for xmas i think i'll go with Arceus.
Merry Christmas! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! I hope your son enjoys it!
Thanks dude juss bought legends it’s downloading as we speak 🗣👌
Hope you enjoy it! Still the best Pokémon game on the switch.
Why won’t Nintendo put the OG Pokémon games on the Eshop? If they did I would go buy a Switch right now.
Pokemon Shining Pearl has a 50% off sale on a local store and I was debating whether i should get it or not, this video made me realize why its 50% off
Yeah, thankfully I bought it half off... If I had paid $60 for that game I would have been mad.
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were developed by ILCA instead of Game Freak. That's why Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were lackluster compared to the Let's go Pikachu and Eevee, and other pokemon games released for the switch.
Will you do (or have you done) a video after playing Scarlet Violet? 😊 I'm interested in watching that!

Thanks for taking the time to comment! I am glad that my video was able to help you.
Pokémon let’s go has the best mechanics and feel. I don’t know why they didn’t just stick with that.
Incredible taste. Let's Go is really underrated.
Right? It has the best graphics and unique gameplay. Underrated for sure.

Haha, yeah, some of these games really need to speed things up! Ain't nobody got time to be waiting around in 2023, haha.
My worst to best:
The ones on the thumbnail are the exact ones I have
Thanks for the vid!! Just bought a switch and dont know which pokemon play... as a Red and yellow fan I believe that I should go for pokemon GO! but Arceus seems to be very funny... the only thing is that im playing zelda and im afraid to think graphics are too much the same!
Haha, I think Arceus takes a lot of elements of Zelda BotW (open words, crafting) so you may be right.
Swap 2nd and 3rd I’d agree completely Sword and Shield was such a solid game and I agree on it being slow cause it was but LGE and LGP was the same as BDSP nothing that different just made in 3D
I’ve got nostalgia of ruby and sapphire and emerald, which new one should I get? Wanting to pick up a switch here soon
Wish it had more dlc or something to expand the dex more, missing loads of cool Pokémon.
Awesome thanks!
