Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!!! JOHNNY HAS RETURNED!!!!!
An idea Luke, how about as a possible primary reward for a later heist, you can have a objective that fills in boxes on a long term project For example they are doing a heist, busted in somewhere, but short on either time or carrying capacity, and while they could take the money they came for, they could instead take maybe some records that point to a shady side of a figure and how to get in with them for their services. Could also be a heist that has a random opportunity to throw their plans askew with a optional objective that could yield some sparkcraft parts to complete a long term project, checking off boxes on an ongoing clock. It would be kinda like a devils bargain, you could add some extra unexpected difficulty to the mission, but have the opportunity to get an additional reward. What do you think?
Awesome video, as per usual, love it to bits.
While I hate cliffhangers that one was masterful. Well done Mike for the set up and especially Johnny for delivering that final line!
ähm why is the second part shown as a privat video in the blades in the dark playlist?
I love at the beginning the juxtaposition between Kasimir really not looking forward to this match up and Johnny clearly being super excited about it.
It has been a common arc with Kas that he has started with a low opinion of most all of them and is learning their possibilities when he goes solo with them.
Well that's justified for his character, he always was a crook, most of them just started to dabble in crime, I think he's not even cautious enough especially about Barnaby although that will hopefully change after this.
I flashed back to Johnny freaking out over Barnaby's arm and Kasimir struggling to even be concerned lol
It's a pleasure to watch Johnny play off of (and around) Mike. The acceptance of Mike's commitment to the bit-that-is-Barnaby, just being willing to play along, add to the joke, and take him under Kasimir's shady wing is great. And I'm pretty sure he just roleplayed his way past a potentially disastrous Tinker roll by giving the other team some social finesse.
Concentrated social stealth with both a Spider and a Slide. Pretty much calls for an adventure centered around their similiar skill sets. So unlike the variety that the others may provide this ones a one, two punch.
@@MorinehtarTheBlue Too true. About as effective of a one-two punch as the wrench and Electro Bolt.
I never really considered just how badly this score could have gone if Kasimir hadn't gotten instructions from the Railjacks
The chemistry between Johnny and Mike is one of a kind (Mike being the base solution, while Johnny is is the Catalyst.).
1m kudos to Johnny to play along with Mike in any situation❤❤❤.
It's honestly one of my favourite catchphrases ever now:
L o v e l y C r i m e s!
I haven't heard that part yet, but I'm willing to bet the way I heard Luke say it in my head just now is EXACTLY how it actually sounds. XD
Please make this merch...
Lovely.
Like: "does barnaby pick up on the passive aggression?"
Mike: "lol no! He just thinks it's taking a long time."
Peefect
hehehe pee-fect. like piss. haha.
Luke’s “upper class wimp with a cold” voice is wonderful. As always though, Mike’s role playing is just perfect!
Do you think the rest of the gang draw straws as to who has to work with Barnaby each time?
Honestly barnaby is the one who has brought in the most coin for the gang
Funily enough as intolerable as he is he is pretty damn good at social stealth lol and has brought the gang a lot of success
@@MonsterPumpkin he may be an utter twit but his connections and social skills make him invaluable.
That's cannon now
@The Gaming Meta kasimir looks like he wants to choke him, you mean
Geth must always have a highborn chap named Percy getting into crimes.
There is only one (at a time.)
Man I love this slow-burn transformation of Barnaby going from a bumbling noble idiot to Volisport's most feared crime lord. You can already sort of see where the development is going.
Barnaby: (jovial) "Oh Percy!"
Mike: (serious) "I go get Percy."
Dear lord, Barnaby being the sensible one.
That's truly frightening 😅
Percival Milktoast would DESTROY this contest....
I have to say, I love how anytime Barnaby's on a heist, Mike just plays up the ignorant/oblivious/idiotic nature of His Nibs.
Love how quickly and seamlessly the underground snail racing scene came into being, it genuinely sounds like a real and compelling part of the world
Mad props to you guys
PLOT TWIST: Barnby has been secretly replaced by the wonderful mechanical man all this time
Ha ! Magical !
He died in the mansion escape so Edvard bottled his soul and stuck it in the mechanical man
@@monke7919 we only wish...
"Barnaby and Kasimir are sucked into Volisport's illegal racing scene..."
are we going to get an episode with gravity rip mechanics?
And here I am expecting Kasimir to name his rig "His Nibs".
Ok but with the technology present In Gravity Rip could you imagine a one off where it’s all characters from both the Oxventure Guild and the Crew with Luke playing as one or two of the NPCs from
Either games he’s GM’ed
It would be a lot of work but oh isn’t it an idea?
I'd watch the hell out of that!
I see that Hicks attended the Andy seminar “Oh no, I forgot to get rich!”...
"Morgan freemen voice over"
It was with sudden realization that he to forgot to get rich and decided to hatch a scheme
@The Gaming Meta when will they learn. You gotta get pictures of spider-man.
i love how Johnny came up with the puns about jeans/genes and family ties. Mike adding in a coat of arms as well just icing on the cake
We need an appearance from Squiffy... Classic Squiffy
I agree, but I've said that now a couple times that we should be introduced to Squiffy. I thought he would have been at the fight club betting away
Plot twist: Squiffy turns out to be the final boss, the secret mastermind behind both Astor and the Dimmer Sisters
@The Gaming Meta and then he wakes up feeling a bit squif..OH MY GOD!
@The Gaming Meta Better than the actual thing. Unfortunately a few things have been said that contradict this. Wish you had that in the chat when he was thought up. Except these are pre-recorded drat it all.
It's funnier if he never appears.
"Someone might be wearing a cone soon."
It's Barnaby. Barnaby will be the one wearing a cone.
Edvard definitely needs a cone. Not even for an injury; the crew just convices the doc that he needs a cone.
@@goodbytegames I don't know about a cone. Maybe a water bottle that they can use to spray him every time he starts a tangent about Astor.
edvard gets a cone of shame when he rants about astor and barnaby when he goes on a randoms tory about squiffy sounds fair to me
Edvard gets treated with medical equipment produced by Astor. Has to spend a few month period having a large piece of Astor Enterprises branding.
@@jamessteggles6579 That would be very traumatic for ol' Lumiere. "Take fifteen stress and gain trauma: Unstable."
Luke has an excellent grasp on Victorian era character faces & voices.
You know he'd look good in a powdered wig
Lukes voices in these are so good 😁
That nasal sickly voice was fantastic!
You should listen to him narrating horr stories on his channel, keywest_away
Barnaby waltzing in without any stress or harm…I swear, he’s going to *somehow* be the most resilient member of the bunch
No nonsense and all nonsense working together, love it!
I'm finally getting to watch this one! :)
Just gotta say, Luke is a fantastic GM. Excellent plots, engaging characters, and quick, smart improv reactions!
Mike is hilarious (and handsome) as Barnaby.
Johnny is amazing at character development. He's gone the extra mile with Kasimir, giving him facial/body tics and the unique idea of the cane + leg brace mechanism.
And if Andy is the one editing these lovely crimes, he's doing a brilliant job as usual! Well done!
Luke spoiling Mike by setting up scenarios for him to role play vehicular races
There’s this weirdly prevalent attitude in TTRPGs that the GM is the enemy of the players. This is exclusively the domain of arseholes who don’t understand that they’re meant to be playing a game, for fun, like what games are for
I absolutely LOVE Luke’s voice acting for Percy and his lil stuffed-nose-y tone 🥺 the detail!!!!!!
Lets see how Barnaby will get his coat ruined this time, fire ?, water ?, thrown off a balcony ?
It's a race, it will obviously get run over
@@oriolgonzalez9328 Well, it's illegal racing... maybe blood will be splattered from a participant's face? Not by Barnaby, of course; but you know, simply by being in the wrong place at the right time. =)
@@jamesanthony8438 Perhaps a flying *Chet* will hit him ?
@@MonsterPumpkin hshdjfjg thrown from his car so hard he crossed hundreds of miles in space and hundreds of years in time
He'll show up drunk and naked and think he's cracked it, can't ruin his coat if he isn't wearing one
Kasimir is always a stellar character to watch, seriously awesome episode
Shoulda called the hot air balloon 'The Wizard Windbag'
I'm now immensely disappointed that it wasn't named that
22:11, Ah, the Bond, James Bond school of espionage. Where you give them your real name and covert alias.
@The Gaming Meta Somehow, the version of Casino Royale from the '70's makes more sense as a spy movie because the identity of James Bond is a lot more clouded. Except for the bits with astronauts chasing cowboys, and the rest of the movie.
@The Gaming Meta yeah, what kind of spy gives the same name to different, likely suspicious, people dozens of time over? If you’re a well known spy, you’ve already failed.
@@rimurutempest4945 You send Bond in as a distraction and the real spies move in during the chaos while the security of the baddies are setting up the laser death trap for Bond.
I kept wondering what that strange sound was I was picking up on my headphones until I realized it was the wee baby Channel! Adorable
I'm now watching and listening so hard for the sound of the wee baby Channel. ♥️
Probably won’t be watching this live, as I am binge watching the rest of the series to catch up (About to Start the Astor Gambit) but am looking forward to watching this! :D
Actually got a question that someone in the comments might know- is there like a Discord Server for Oxventures and the Blades in the Dark campaign? If there is, does anyone have an invite? :)
@@RecyllandHyde lemme know if anyone tells you!
@@RecyllandHyde The OutsideFanstra Discord has an Oxventure channel. You don't need any kind of invitation to join as far as I'm aware.
Absolutely loving these! Everyone's playing their characters so well and Luke is doing great as GM.
I'm waiting for the Andy, Ellen adventure where they make some horrible machination fueled by ghosts
Combining forces to make a Hull sounds fun. The prototype for the WMM. Can't wait to see if that happens.
40:32 Hello to whichever baby was fussing in the background! Good to hear a little one so hale and hearty! 🥰
I like how this started as the two of them going to keep an eye out for Percy because Hix is sus and lead into them racing with her. I mean, I knew the race would be airborne, because Luke and F-Zero... but it is certainly lovely to see that kind of shift.
barnaby and kasimir playing off of each other is amazing. they are so very different as characters, but the energy they create working together is so funny.
Will be watching this after critical role. I love how friday has now turned into roleplaying games day now!
I also play a campaign with my freinds every Friday so it gets super busy
I see you are a person of culture....
Oh man I have so much CR to catch up on
@@johnsharplin Campaign 2 is getting pretty spicy.
@@Banquet42 You may have just informed my weekend, then
as much as i normally enjoy those more choatic oxventures, it really feels soo good the way joihnny plays abit more serious.
like a pillar of strength! 👍
That "Mmm, I've been practicing" line from Barnaby was just *chef's kiss*
"We're real experts, I've done at least 3 crimes" Dang. Barnaby is just gold.
Dude! Blades in the Dark is such a fun fun system. I love the "Oops, I forgot I had this" mechanic. Very natural and intuitive. Can't wait guys!! :DDD
Man, Kasimir is so unbelievably cool.
"Lovely Crimes" t-shirt please!
YES! I would love more shirts in general!
I ordered their Blades in the Dark gang shirt as soon as it appeared in the shop (gorgeous art), and I hope they'll put up more D&D Oxventure shirts too.
I'm not really fond of the logo merch and would prefer tees with cute character art and relevant slogans :)
Or a pin!
9:54 I love how I've been practicing is so literally accurate after that's smooth delivery of the previous line. in the first adventure, he might have stumbled into success (not unlike Egbert), but you can tell he's in control of this situation.
Eventually, we’ll come to a score when everything about Barnaby is ruined EXCEPT his coat. He’ll swagger back to the hideout, black eye and shoes stolen BUT… his coat is pristine.
I was waiting for Johnny's composure to break and for him to corpse at Mike's shenanigans. I was not disappointed.
Kasimir: Why are there two of them now!?!
As seemingly inept and clueless Barnaby he, he is actually very competent. He has the Devil’s Luck.
Some reason I only just found the overture d&d podcast. Feels great going back in time to August last year and listening to your thoughts about episodes etc. Guess I'll be binging the pod this week
Ohhhh good luck! I really love oxventure podcast, they talk very fun stuff there
Yes, I love hearing behind-the-scenes anecdotes!
I've been binging it since realisin they're taking a break from D&D. Up to episode 16 now
Where is the podcast? I haven't been able to find it
@@aereon_gaming I listen on google but it's on spotify and I think any other podcast player. Just search oxventure and it will pop up!
Have loved the whole series, 2 seasons - last ep last Friday (9th Sept 2022). On it's own terms - first flight of the Sparrowhawk is the best of a great bunch.
You gotta love how Barnaby just goes along with the plans that his partners come up with.
I always have and still do tout Andy as the best actor of the Oxboxtra gang, but this is some career work from Mike
Andy during his "disguise self" parts with the oxventurers was top notch! Chauncey, the Paladin at the trials, the gnome King, Liliana's scientist at the tower, etc. 😙👌
@@nahuelmat *_EXACTLY_* !" 😁 Corazon as a chair might literally be my single favorite Oxventure moment
Onward to ADVENTURE!!! (And drinks!!)
I adore you guys so much.... all of you. Hope you keep doing all of this (this comment adding to the stat numbers that increase the chances of your continued participation)
If barnaby is not on the front of this sparrow hawk drinking and not saving the day those dimmers have a lot to answer for
Luke's rich person being naive face was brilliant 😁
Loved the shot of the map there. Very cool. Can't wait for next week!
Just wanna say the character acting in this episode is top notch.
All the little character details are so wonderful.
Just what Kasimir needed: another Barnaby.
This is actually brilliant, in terms of the balloon race. Not sure where Luke came up with the inspiration, but he showed a great deal of knowledge and creativity, here.
I'm getting such a P. G. Wodehouse vibe from Percy. Like he'd be on of Bertie Wooster's friends on par with Gussie Fink-Nottle or Tuppy Glossop.
I just hope that at the end Hicks (at least I hope that's how she spells it) gets to shout -"Game over, man, game over!"- "We are LEAVING!"
@@booboon5066 Damn, you're right, I don't know how I messed that up. Let me correct that before anyone else notices.
She'll also need to bring a shotgun with her, for close encounters
Kasimir moonlighting in his other job as being Barnaby's valet, a gentleman's personal gentleman.
A vet is absolutely better than what you have now, they know how to set bones close wounds, and treat infections, as well as a ton of other things I'm probably missing, and having the actual tools for the job, the healer you have now likely just has a bag full of wrappings, a hunters knife, a bottle of booze, and a general idea of which way your bones should face.
Higgs is getting progressively smaller and more adorable in my head as this story plays out, if she doesn't stab them in the back she's going to look like an 8 year old playing dress up by the time they're done.
The bit about snail racing being punishable by death without trial is hilarious
Looking forward to seeing how Barnaby's coat gets ruined in this one.
Kasimir is just their crime dad
Will not be able to catch this live but I'm looking forward to catching it later.
Yaaay a Kasimir episode! I’m not sure who I crush on more, Zillah or Kasimir!
Isn’t cool that the most experienced player Johnny is playing the most experienced scoundrel well at least the most experienced in crime
Mike is so RED-EYED and Rowdy he couldn't possibly loose😂😂😂😂. (Respects have been paid to a recent Father.)
How does the Sparrowhawk match up to the Solar Wind and M-0-tar?
Depends on if M0tar is friendly since it has a kill already
I love how Mike barely ever breaks character
I actually got into blades from these streams
This really is Jeeves and Wooster if Jeeves was a born and bred criminal rather than a posh butler.
It’s because of this series that I’m setting up my own campaign
i love that rail jack mechanic, i'm taking notes i'm learning.... nevermind what i'm learning lol
Finally! I was just waiting like... Forever.
Why can't I have sweet GM skills like that?
This whole series has been great, but my goodness this episode was amazing.
so how many attempts did it take take egbert to roll a 6..... where as Barnaby rolls 6s for sport
Interesting fact, everyone: Pomeroy in Khmer can translate to "Hundred Farts!"
This was a joy to watch, can't wait for part 2! :)
Well Barnaby should be familiar with producing a lot of hot air.
Always looking forward to Saturday night, looking at these streams while Playing a text based Wrestling game
I definitely want long sleeve shirts or hoodies with "The AeroNaughty Boys" logo. Please make this happen
man all your D&Ds would make great TV shows! you guys havesuch great acting!
Ah!!! YES!!! The Dream Team!!!
This was a lovely episode :D great Synergy
Went ahead and liked already, as just love the series.
Any new D&D to come in future at all?, its been a while.
D&D will return next month, was shown all the way at the end of the Crawl Me Maybe episode
Johnny's been busy setting up his solo channel and patreon, but he promised "season two" of Oxventure will come in May. As busy as he is, he said frankly they'd have to drag him away to get him to stop playing with the Oxboxtra crew :)
Listening to the Oxventure podcast, Andy explained that they want to start adhering more closely to the rules (now that they've done several videos wherein they've studied the manual and peripheral guides quite closely). They've asked Johnny to make things more challenging for them now, so this should be interesting!
All of what has been said before and the Oxbox gang are learning spell slots.
I want that on a t shirt
Crimes, Lovely Crimes
If I remember on the podium, I will wear the jacket under my jacket. 😂🤣 That was low key hilarious
WILL SOMEONE THINK OF THE MOLLUSKS!
one of my most vivid memories from this episode is the Aeronaughty Boys.
...
I do not know how to feel about that.
luke was waiting to call him pomeranian :D
A racing job, I can't wait to see how this plays out.
Oh, I'm SO hoping snail racing comes back in a future episode!
Are we going to get any world building on how Geth went from the 16th century D&D world we knew to this? Also, will D&D races like tieflings, elves, dwarves, dragonborn, etc ever show up?
I assume they become rare with only humans and half races existing, they magic might have dried up thus killing many of the races that rely on that to live!
Someone theorised that the races have died out through breeding with humans, but people who had ancestors of specific races have certain attributes. Eg. Zillah could be descended from Orcs due to her natural and impressive strength, Lilliths ancestors could have been magical people that were naturally talented at necromancy due to her affinity with ghosts. They put in a lot more detail but idk exactly what they said, but it’s an interesting theory
@@sillylittleenby where did you find that? I'd like to read it.
@@sambakich7494 I think it was in the comments of one of the blades in the dark videos, but idk which one

As soon as i heard "racing", I wondered whether this was a crossover episode...in SPACE.
The snail racing segment made me laugh, we have an annual snail racing and pie eating competition
Belive it or not, gets pretty crazy
The snail racing part killed me.
