WOOOW. A few people have recommended your leca videos to me. My thai constellation has been in Leca for about a year after 3 bouts of root rot in soil, and she's finally happy! I am highly considering moving my albo into leca now too...
OMG HIII! 🥰🤩 I am so happy she's happy now!! I am honestly soooo happy I decided to transfer mine into LECA. Obviously I've seen tons of gorgeous albos growing in soil. I guess it's just your preference and if you're willing to take the risk 😬 Looking back, it still gives me anxiety 🤣. Best of luck if you decide to do it!! 💚
5:28 I GASPED. I cannot believe that's the same plant in just a year! I just transferred a very unhappy sport to LECA and it's pushing out beautiful new roots. I was considering putting my albo in LECA and this convinced me! So happy for your plants!! Hoping mine looks remotely like this by next June!
Hi Kevin, would you make the video on how to repot with the root system like that? Even how much I love to see the growth but this seemed so hard to do.
I’m so excited to start my LECA journey. I have a large Thai con with three leaves that hasn’t grown anything in the year I’ve had it despite a happy root system, so I’m excited to switch it and see if it makes it happier! And switch a few other monsteras I have. Your LECA video is such a thorough help in transitioning and giving me the confidence to give it a try! And this video just enhances it haha
I have 2 Thai Constallations, one in Leca one in Lechuza PON, both doing great, however the one in Leca is doing much better, and I genuinely think it’s because the amount of air around root system! Both planted maybe month apart, and Leca is doing thousand times better! On the other hand, my anthuriums are feeling better in PON, pushing new growth like crazy! Glad I ditched standard soil!
Omg yes!! I transferred amone of my Thais from LECA to Pon and it rotted. I thought the exact same thing (about the air flow) and YES ABOUT THE ANTHURIUMS. My anthuriums in PON are thriving!!
OMG, i just put my Thai constellation in Leca 3 days ago...I am super excited to watch it grow. But tell me: what are the nutrients you put in the water????
Holy shiet, that Thai!!!!!! OMG!!!! Now I wonder if I should put mine in Leca to get to these crazy fast growth and girth! How much water is in that bucket, about 1/3? And what is your nutrient situation??
Now that I've seen that, I am very glad that I've not potted up my Monstera propagations yet. I am definitely considering to put them in leca instead of soil now.
Hello Kevin. I really enjoy watching your videos. I have seen almost all of them, and repeatedly. Hahaha! I would like to know how your Thai Constellation and other monsteras in leca are doing now, more than 2 years after transplanting them. How do you manage the roots when you don’t want to repot them to a bigger pot? I just bought a Thai Constellation and thinking if I will move it to leca. Your advice on replanting and other tips would be highly appreciated. Thank you.
What net pots do you use for your super large plants in LECA? (Like your thai constellation.) the ones in the description are just small ones. Having a hard time finding any that might work.
All right! I’m switching to Leca!! Question: is it humid where you live? Is your apartment warm most of the time? Did you put it straight into leca or did you put it in just nutrient solution for a while until it got water roots?
I freaking love love u n wild fern to I wish I seen the solutions u use first cause I got the ph up n down n the three part flora series n it seemed a lot but ur way seems so much more simplified thank u buddy u da best
Kevinnn!! WOW your plants are stunning. You are the one who inspire me to switch all my plants in Leca, thanks a lot! I hope you have a couple of minutes for me, I have questions about your fertilizer routine (Flora, CaliMagic & Rapid start :))! How do you proceed? Which one are you using and when (the frequency)? Did you use your rapid start only when you transfer a plant in Leca? Thankssss your the best
so beautiful.... how often did you move up the pot size from the first time you moved it into leca? Obviously, now it's in a much bigger pot... thank you.
I gasped twice when you showed their growth! They are incredible! Where did you get those net pots and how big are they? I want to buy a monstera and have the same set up for her.
Goals!😍 I am inspired to switch my albo monstera that has been putting out smaller and smaller leaves😫. Also my halfmoon albo that I’ve had for a year and still has not pushed out a new leaf EVER. Like you, I am also an underwaterer and yes my plants are in a chunky mix and most in terra cotta pots. 😕
It's always so scary because this plant is so valuable and I just decided to risk it! 😬 Again it comes down to your environment and how much light you give it.
Please make a vlog about propagating your Thai constellation in Leca in a separate pot! 🥺 Wanted to propagate mine but I’m too anxious on what to do. 🥲
hi kevin.. greetings from Malaysia.. can you make a step by step video how you converting aroids from soil to LECA. i am thinking coverting my thai constellation and albo to LECA.. thanks in advance..
Hey Anna! I use the 3 part flora series by general hydroponics + calcium magnesium supplement + Diamond nectar (to encourage nutrient availability) + Rapidstart
Hi. How big are the net pot? I think i need a 10”and a 12”. And where can i order one with the black bucket? How are the albo and thai now? Thanks! Happy holidays!
If you chop it, I have no problem taking it and caring for it for you! 😅💚🌱🪴 love your thai and albo soooo much! I had bought a double node wet stick albo and now have 2 baby leaves and it is currently in moss and I've been debating if I should use leca or soil for it. What are your thoughts???? I do have a few of my plants in leca and majority in soil. So I do have some experience with leca. But I'm stuck on deciding for this plant lol
I love both of your Thai and Albo, they are absolutely stunning!!! It must be so much pride and joy for you to see them~~ Just being curious, where do you get those giant net buckets and pots for semi-hydro (not that I have giant plants that need them)?
I'm curious about how you trim off the browned roots by yourself. I have some that I'd like to remove but I can't set it down because of the roots at the bottom. :O Also, I'm curious about what you do when the roots at the bottom has grown so much that the ball is pretty tight. Do you switch to a taller bucket or just keep it in the same bucket? Sorry for the newbie question...
So just curious, how are you going to switch out the pot when you have to replant it without breaking the roots? I have a giant fiddle leaf fig that grew roots through a self watering planter and into the reservoir and i am so terrified of taking it out to repot it. Thanks for the advice! Your plants are so beautiful!
thanks for your update! i have a Thai con arriving soon and want to transfer it to leca too... what size net pot are u using by the way? i need to go find a big net pot or self watering pot! love how lush your TC is! have u encountered any pests or fungal on them? i have two TC before and keep giving root rot or fungal on leaves! its a diva for me!
HI! My net pot is a 10ich net pot. I personally haven't experienced those issues =/ Maybe you need to have more air circulation? Or lower the humidity a bit? Perhaps changing to a chunky soil mix and watering it less.
Hey! I don't know of any places locally right now. I bought mine online from north shore tropicals. I think urban plant haven is selling a few right now.
Bec of ur vids, am almost ready to switch some of my plants to leca+hydrophonics. A question tho, how do u handle the roots that shoots out of the net pot? Do u just cut them(roots) out whenever u need to transfer to a bigger pot? Or do u cut the actual net pot?
Hey Abby! I would definitely start off slow with just a few plants just to see what happens 💚 I usually leave them as is. I find that my monsteras are just fine with the roots sitting in the nutrient solution. Syngoniums seem to act the same way. There are some plants that don't like it though so I tend to cut them. I find that anthuriums don't like to sit in water for too long. If I have to, I cut the net pot which makes me sad 😅
What is your ingredients for passive hydroponics? Every when do you change the water? I would love to hear your reply i so love your video 😍 my monstera is dying i want to try leca pls reply 😔
Hey Alexandra. I use the 3 part flora series by general hydroponics + calcium magnesium supplement + Diamond nectar (to encourage nutrient availability) + Rapidstart
Hey Kevin I am getting ready for winter. I'm curious, do you change your fertilizer for the winter months? I really do not want to hurt any of my leca babies. And I'm super nervous about over fertilizing and or root rot during these months. I live in upstate ny and it gets super cold here for quite a few months. Please send help or maybe a video letting us know. I love you and your plants by the way. You are the reason I have chosen to switch to leca and some will be in pon soon too
Hi Kevin, do you have large leca pot recommendation? I’m trying to find a pot big enough for 3 monstera for a fuller look, also, I see you have moss pole in your leca pot, how do you make the pole stable? Thanks!
Its about 3-3.5 gallons of water. I use the 3 part flora series by general hydroponics + calcium magnesium supplement + Diamond nectar (to encourage nutrient availability) + Rapidstart
Hey Abigail! I bought them from an online hydroponic store in Canada (Indoor Growing Canada). It is a 10 in net pot and it fits in a 5 gallon bucket. It also fits the 3 gal one too!
I just found your account because I think my Thai is dying! Lol at “writing her eulogy” - exactly how I feel rn. The roots are not doing well and it is yellowing. I have it in the same terracotta chunky situation you had yours in! Should I transition to straight water before leca or just go for it? 😫🙏🏼 this video gave me some hope!!
Do you run oxygen lines into your bottom reservoir with a fish bubbler like a simple DWC system? Im doing everything to my albo and my Thai like you did in the beginning (chunky mix, terra cotta and little water) and now I wanna switch to leca. Im low key freaking out.
Hey! I don't but I've wanted to experiment with that! All I hear is great things and definitely makes sense for root health. Haha I have to be so thankful that nothing went horribly wrong when I did it. It's definitely scary! You don't necessarily need to grow in LECA. You can just fix certain things like watering the plant more, taking it out of terra Cotta, etc. Plant can thrive in a good potting mix too! ☺️💚
Hi Kevin! I followed your Leca method to the T, with net potting and formulas, for my Albo last August. Since then my Albo went from 3 leaves to 10 leaves. How do I know when it’s time to transfer to a bigger pot? Please advise. Appreciate it. Thank you!!!
OMG when you pull out the "today" pot i was like "FFFF YYYEESSSSS" in my mind! Such a great timeline video. Thank you for your efforts in collecting all of the videos and showing each leaf up the vine. Love it! p.s. super cute Canada Day pic ;)
I hope you can reply, I just got my first algo and I was wondering on doing leca but should I start with a smaller net pot ? Or can I do the 10in so I don’t have to move it later ?
I'm local! Where did you get your moss pole?? I was actually worried about switching to leca since my albo despriatly needs a moss pole. I thought that a moss pole in leca would rot it.
I'm so grateful I found this video when I did - by the time I found it, you'd posted the Complete Guide, and the two together changed everything for me. I got super lucky water propagating a top cut albo in water, and it was time to move her to her permanent substrate. Right up until I saw this, I had planned to move her to a chunky aroid mix, but I was terrified that no matter how careful I was, it would rot her beautiful roots. Instead, I moved her to leca, using General Hydroponics nutrients, and just two weeks after the transfer, she's pushing roots out of the bottom of her 5" net pot and the leaf that had started to work its way up the previous petiole before I transferred her has separated and should start to unfurl in a couple of weeks. Thanks so much for sharing your story and your process. I'm pretty sure you saved me from making a terrible mistake.
I feel your pain picking up your large scale leca pots. THEYRE SO HEAVY. I have my reg monstera in a super giant pot and I’m pretty sure I die every time I have to move it. Also - I didn’t know floramicro came in a hard water version omggg you are saving me 😍 One more suggestion - but feel free to ignore if you don’t wanna do it lol - I think it’d be fun to try notching for your albo. Those stems are thick enough for it and it’d be fun content that’s not super common (I found you from your philo Brandi care video when no one else was talking about how finicky they were lol). Brooks Davis on fb (or @districtplantdaddy on IG) recently did it with his Florida beauty with pretty decent success so far!
And by that I meant notching instead of propping (or notching before propping) that albo with minimal variegation you mentioned wanting to prop. Sorry I just realized I was unclear 😅
Hey STEPHANIE! haha i don't know if the hard water one makes a difference but just in case 😜. THEYRE SO HEAVY HAHA 😂. Hmm maybe I'll think about notching the not-so-variegated one. I don't want to touch the other one yet ☺️
@@kevin. you can totally wait as long as you want! All that notching does is activate the axillary buds below each “notch,” so it’s actually really great for preserving variegation because you get a bunch more opportunities for better genetics without having to cut up the plant and re-root - though you can always cut up the plant afterwards if some axillary buds are still slacking 😂 I saw the update from Brooks that he accidentally cut the top too far and ended up with an unrooted top cutting, and I think that’s the main concern when notching. Definitely recommend trying to reach out to him (I’ve never spoken to him but he’s local to me so I follow him a lot lol).
Did you flush out the dead roots? Because i switched my thai constellation to leca and after a new leaf, it started to look droopy and when i checked, it had root rot! I am trying to root it now in perlite but i am scared to put it back in leca if it survives.
I can only find small mesh pots can you please tell me the size your albo and thai or in please i just tryed your link but it showed small . I need to change my albo’s from soil to leca quickly 😢
WOOOW. A few people have recommended your leca videos to me. My thai constellation has been in Leca for about a year after 3 bouts of root rot in soil, and she's finally happy! I am highly considering moving my albo into leca now too...

Aw thanks I appreciate that 🤩
Thank you for sharing! There's barely any progress videos of tiny albo cutting growing into a full sized plant.
No problem Karen 😊 I've been lucky that I've had such great luck with them
Wow!! I am so jealous!! Some of the nicest monsteras I have ever seen indoors!! Your lighting must be on point.
I really think that the lighting in my bedroom is the big reason why they're thriving! 😁

Hello...l am new to your channel... please can you show how you fix the moss pole in your leca set up
really want to move my monstera to leca
I hope you can reply, I just got my first algo and I was wondering on doing leca but should I start with a smaller net pot ? Or can I do the 10in so I don’t have to move it later ?
Nice. Good work.
I'm pretty sure you saved me from making a terrible mistake.
i'm assuming that once you put your plants into a netted pot, it will be there permanently right?
I feel your pain picking up your large scale leca pots. THEYRE SO HEAVY. I have my reg monstera in a super giant pot and I’m pretty sure I die every time I have to move it. Also - I didn’t know floramicro came in a hard water version omggg you are saving me 😍
One more suggestion - but feel free to ignore if you don’t wanna do it lol - I think it’d be fun to try notching for your albo.
@@kevin. yes definitely don’t touch the other beautiful albo baby ❤️ (or not so baby anymore? lol)
I totally going to do that. I just want to see 1-2 more leaves and then I'll do it. Or is it better doing it now?
@@kevin. you can totally wait as long as you want!
Hi Kevin, would you consider selling one small monstara, sorry of my misspelling, I live in Pennsylvania, thank you
Did you flush out the dead roots? Because i switched my thai constellation to leca and after a new leaf, it started to look droopy and when i checked, it had root rot! I am trying to root it now in perlite but i am scared to put it back in leca if it survives.
May I know where u bought those big net pots
I can only find small mesh pots can you please tell me the size your albo and thai or in please i just tryed your link but it showed small . I need to change my albo’s from soil to leca quickly 😢
