Hey guys!
Ive been asked how to tackle a color correction and although every client is not going to be handled the same, I wanted to share this correction I'm doing to help tone down brassiness.
I hope this helps when dealing with brass!

I absolutely LOVE your rambling, over-explain away!!! I noticed that every time that you "over explain" anything, it's because it's something that is really important, so it's like, you really just want to teach people! And most people, if they hear important things over and over, then they are more likely to remember them later, when the time comes that they will really thank you for "over explaining"!! I know I sure do!! THANK YOU!!!
Thank you! Someone gave me a hard time about it once so now im paranoid lol thank you for watching!
Agreed! I just found your channel and subbed.
You are awesome!
Please don’t change for anyone else. I’ve been watching and listening for hours. 😍🥰👍🏻
i agree!!! i prefer it because i’m the type of person that needs to reread something or re listen to something 100x to try to understand, and when you ramble and keep explaining i’m like “OH i get it now!”
Hey , I'm an hairstylist from Rome, Italy , and I wanted to let you know that with all your ideas, tips and explanations, I reeeeeeeally improved my foiling techniques !
I really enjoy watching your channel : so educational!
Thank you for your videos ❤
Hello in Rome! I had toured there before and loved it! Thank you so much for watching and im so glad to hear of your improvement!
If your videos were on netflix 😂 i'd watch your amazing educational videos everyday . You're a great teacher and a great mentor. ❤
Omg thank you! I love seeing that! How awesome that would be!
Indeed! She is the best teacher and explains all the essential things! I love her!
You are BRAINSTORMING, sharing it with us and tacking each scenario love it.
That is not a bad quality! It’s better to over explain them under explain and I enjoy you explaining in detail.❤️
Thank you, I get paranoid sometimes!
You did such a nice job fixing your client’s hair! I love how much care you put into your work and I appreciate your explanation.
Explaining things is not a bad quality of yours, that's why I watch even your longer videos, thanks for the details! 🙂
Love your authentic self Kristi, we think your GREAT

Oh good to hear! Thank you so much for watching!
I love the rambling because we are continuously learning. It’s not like your rambling about a Christmas brunch 10 yrs ago and if you needed to that’s fine too. We came to your Channel so it’s your rules. Awesome work.
What an improvement! You're a genius. It came out way brighter than I was expecting, and not green at all, which I was a little worried about. That Vibrance must be good stuff.
Yeah, I really love it!
OMG what a transformation! Compared to how she came in compared to now it looks stunning and HEALTHIER! Awesome work toots! I hope she loved it because it was beautiful!
I like your rambling, an informed client is a happy client!
Lol you totally crack me up when you tried to be quiet, I don't mind you rambling. I like the they you take the time to explain in details. You do amazing work. Wish you were in Toronto. Love watching what you do best!
I’m glad to hear that... sometimes I worry I don’t make sense! Thank you so much for watching!
Wow what an amazing after look!! It looks SO healthy and shiny, and just, beautiful!!!!
Thank you!
It’s amazing how you play with the foils !!
You’re so gooooooooood !!!
Gorgeous color!!!
Girl! Don't apologize for explaining on YOUR video! If they don't like it, they can click away! And you're not rambling! Lol
People are so rude! thinking they can comment just whatever they think. Smh... you do you girl!!
Thank you so much! Your very right but then I start over thinking about worry about what people think.
Haven't commented in a long time but turned out great💜 Love the way you explain everything that's why I subscribed YOUR WONDERFUL 💜💜🌹🌹
Hello! Thank you so much for watching and good to see you!
@@hairbykristijennings6648 Yes good to be back I'm on and off but always come to see you Love your style your very different that's a GREAT THING... BEST STYLIST ( ARTIST) ON UTUBE💜💜💜
Omg you are so funny! I love it when you elaborate ❤
Its better,it does sound to me,and im no expert, that she or the hairdresser dyed it permanent red and then the client decided they hated it and bleached it a couple times, maybe bleach washed it,colour removed😊 or a combination of these.Thatd explain why that fine hair was so damaged on the already highlighted / balayaged parts🎉 excellent vid👌yout truly, miss Marple 😂
You are an EXCELLENT teacher! ❤️👍. I absolutely love your videos!!!
That is so sweet, thank you! I definitely don't think im professional enough to be a teacher, but il take the compliment!
Hey I’m a stylist from Scotland and your work is amazing I’m in love. Your taking me out of my old school ways and I’m loving it. I’m not long out of college so this is amazing for me ❤️
I’m shocked by the result.
Like , when you said that you tone down her hair I said nooo, what’s the point damaging her hair with bleach if she needs to be toned down. However I know nothing about colouring so of course I was sceptical. My hair is like her 😢at the moment; I don’t know where I’m going from here.
However the end result is just incredibly beautiful.
Congrats! You are an artist!
amazing ombré! thank you, never thought one could use such dark colors to tone and nevertheless keep the blonde quite bright!
Yes! Just not to leave it on too long
I would be pissing my pants worrying about it all grabbing too dark to the ends, but you crushed it!. I recently started using Guy Tang's wicked shadows 7 on damp hair for 5 minutes to cancel that brassy 7. It is just a toner, but sometimes you can't touch hair with bleach again. It's a green tone and there's enough blue to cancel the orange and enough green to cancel the red in the orange. I sheer it out with clear too.
I love how u think outloud. I work alone and need to hear your thought process
It looks great.Did she have highlights in between her roots and brassy ends? Its hard to see. I think your instinct was right about her colour history
Great color correcting- it looks very nice!
Thank you so much!
Excellent tutorial. Thank you!❤
Sometimes always having ponytails break your hair like that. I have seen it. Plus she need to use a little of something to help ur hair. I like a little bit of oil or in leaving conditioner spray at night but all depends what u likes
Yes especially this year with so many people staying home!
Just a note. Possible she has well water the orange in her hair at start looked more iron build up from well water. A Malibu treatment might have taken some of that out. Suggestion to other hairstylist coming across same orange / yellow on long hair. Well water will creat this.
Oh yeah, I have other clients who deal with this but I know where her location is, she's not on well cause I asked. I had that thought too from how brassy it was.
I love how you explained the process 🥰
Great job....You are very good at explaining your thought process
First time watching you and I learned a lot, thank you !! I do have a question, how long it took you to do that beautiful job ?
OMG🤩 you did a really good job!! It is perfect!
Hahaha at around 20 min or so, I love how you picked up that bottom section, looked at it, then dropped it like "NEVER MIND" and moved up lol..
Yep! Lmao never mind 😂😂😂
Hey love! Soooooo my hair did the same as your clients and I think it has a lot to do with our hard water, I think it’s because it’s so rich in minerals and those minerals deposit and change the color to orange. Just a thought hope it helps. Love your videos!!! ❤
love and so appreciate your thorough analysis in decision making of the toning formula! especially , the result is right on! Question: since the olaplaex diluted the root formula so nicely (for the mid and end) .would some normal conditioner do the same (as a diluting agent)? Also, I have some igora vibrance 0-22 (booster) May I dilute that with some conditioner and cancel out orange on a 9/8 mixture hair ? or, I always have to mix it with a toner (9,5-1 for example)Thank you again!
I think conditioner is great to protect the ends from over grabbing however I don't think it will do anything as far as toning.
Did you leave in the oloplex conditioner in and then apply the demi over top?
i love watching your vids!!!!!!
That makes me happy!!!
Loved this.. thanks for sharing!!
Thank you so much for watching!
This is sooooo helpful, thank you so much 😘
Thank you for watching, I'm glad it helped!
Hmmm.. looks like maybe she washes it too often, and maybe uses heat styling every time she washes? That could really explain half that damage, especially since if it doesn't lift past that orange, then there's no way the hair won't heal after so many months unless she's been flat ironing over and over the same strands for weeks on end, ya know? Sorry just started this video and I just had to pause and comment on that.. cuz I've had 40 vol used on my hair, and the only time in my life that it's broken off or looked THAT frazzled MONTHS later was when I was heavily flat ironing it, and going over the same strands too many times lol.. which I don't do anymore, but I know a lot of people do, and they think that heat protectant means that the hair is 100 percent protected, when that's not the case.
Ok so I just unpaused, and her hair doesn't look as bad as I had assumed, so maybe just disregard this comment? But then, maybe leave it up so others know that heat styling too often DOES do damage on bleached, already fragile hair, so maybe people will take longer breaks between using hot tools :)
It's true! Heat can almost be the worst thing for hair!
When I saw the back of her hair, before kristi cut the ends off, I was thinking the same thing. People always want to blame lightener but what we saw here today is 💯 hot tool abuse and never getting a haircut.
Love your videos!
ThAnk you so much!
Question: When you say Olaplex through the ends, is that No. 1 or No.2 or?
I coloured my hair yesterday and i turned out to be horrible. I m really upset can't get out of this trauma 😭😭😭😭 when can I redye that again and which color would go with my hairs if they are all blonde Ash kindof. So suggest me some 🥺
Hey there! Love your videos! I saw only
Thank you so much!
Lmaoo you’re so funny! Love your explanations! Hahahaha
Thank you! Glad you appreciate my humor! 😂😂👌👌
Great job!!
Thank you so much!
You’re not using clips to do her bang area I’ve been doing hair for almost a hundred years I can’t do that😂
I like the application brush that you are using. Are they at beauty supplies or a special purchase?
Great job!
“HUH quiet didn’t last for too long” 🤣🤣
I love your videos. Very good explanation. Thank you❤️
Do you mind to share what kind of dryer do you use?
Hello! It's a Paul Mitchell Dryer!
@@hairbykristijennings6648 thank you❤️
Love it
beautiful!!
Can you do a 10p color on those ends to lift it brighter instead of bleach?
I personally wouldn't.... you could probably but I never buy high lift color. I feel like bleach gets the best lift
2 questions. What kind of brush do you use for applications. And. How much are you charging for services like this? Also, I love your videos!
That's a framar brush! I love them! I would charge an hourly rate for correction..... $75-100 /hr
I like brassy hair
Me too
@@juliebrown1394 ❤️
What was the toner that you used again please? X
Also I ment to ask. What width is the foils you use? Mines seem smaller I think
When my hair is toned it washes out in only a few washes. I use a color safe shampoo too. Do u have any recommendations for keeping in longer?
Shampoo whether it's for color treated (sulfate free) it still strips hair of the color. Apply conditioner on the hair trying to not get any on the scalp. Then apply shampoo to the roots and shampoo. The conditioner will protect the hair from the shampoo fading the color. The next time you shampoo just shampoo twice with conditioner. The first is like a wash the second is left on while bathing then rinse at the end.
There's so many factors..... agree with the above comment. If it's an ashy tone, that fades faster too.
@@hairbykristijennings6648 I have found the perfect toner for my brassy hair is redken shades eq 7n, 7p, 6n. Just a dap of 6n. It’s the only toner that works on my level 9 brassy orange hair.
What would happen if you added a 9A to just the ends?
I really want her to do my hair! Where are you and how much would it be for this kinda orange hair correction? Lol
Hello! Color collections vary but im in wa state
Very pretty
Please tell me have you heard about toning brassy hair with blue black hair color I've seen a few videos on utube where they mix tablespoon of dye and table spoon of developer with sulfate shampoo , but the kicker is getting it in and out super quickly 🤔🙄😬 haven't did it myself but just wondering if anyone has tried it before hope it's okay to post this Kristi ❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹💌
I've not heard of that but I've know you can mix one drop of black to your toner that you prepared. Anything more will darken and make ashy grey.
@@Wondorawoman yes but which one I have shades EQ but not black in color hmmm I do have blue black hair dye not sure though thanks
@@wendy8561 remember only one drop.
Yes! I haven't tried it cause I'm scared to 😂😂😂🤦♀️🤦♀️
@@hairbykristijennings6648 Kristi I'm not a sylist and I'm terrified too lol I love you girl lol your honest I love that
There so cute ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you
great videos, thanks for overexplaining.....it's easy to get impatient, pull foils too soon, and end up with uneven lift.....
Thank you for watching!
Maybe she used a shampoo with sulfate and has a crappy blow dryer...that can damage hair.
That's very possible! It definitely looked like heat damage too
The brazziness was definitely not done in a salon. What I believe happened here was she bought a supermarket brand and tried it herself. Due to the dark hair, it went brazzy
That would totally make sense! I kept trying to figure out what on earth happened!
I agree. Especially the placement of the chunks of brass suggest that she did it herself or someone at home tried to do it for her with box color. It's an embarrassing thing to admit to your hairdresser so I understand why she wouldn't want to confess it.
It looks like a buildup of well water. Does she live out in the country I wonder?
Please over explain and ramble on lol the people that dont like can go to the other youtubers who dont talk or explain what and why theyre doing something and put music on lol I'm here to learn lol.. there's always the volume button for the ones that dont come here to learn. Lol
All good points! Thank you so much for the reminder not to care! Thank you for watching and for your support!
