No time trial tutorial this week since the league I'm in is on break for the week. I wanted to get a video out to you all that explains some of the more advanced strategies I use in my tutorials and why they work the way they do. Sorry this took so long to get out; but there was a ton of work that went into putting this video together. So I'd really appreciate if you do all the algorithm friendly stuff like dropping a thumbs up, hitting the notification bell, commenting, and sharing this video with others. Hope you enjoy! - Ігри
Delayed drifting (if it’s anything like MKWii) works because your mini turbo doesn’t start charging until after you land from the hop, so more of the turn is used to charge the mini turbo.
As for the glider thing, I don’t know this for sure, but it’s possible it has something to do with vectoring, which is used in a number of speed runs such as Mario odyssey and the original doom games. Basically the game stores forward speed and sideways speed as separate values, and because there is a cap on these values rather than overall speed, moving diagonally allows you to move slightly faster than you otherwise would.
Think of it like a square, with one edge being forward speed and one edge being sideways speed. The line from the centre to the diagonal corner is longer than the line from the centre to the middle of an edge. It’s possible that the reason this only works with gliders is because I they offer 3D movement, hence pulling backwards and left/right.
Very interesting information, I had kind of a rough guess about the delayed drifting, but I legit had no idea about why the glider strategies work. Thanks for explaining all of that!
That speech is OP
I never took the tutorial and nobody taught me in Mario kart..
And I’m still a pro
This doesn’t really help for me
Finally an advanced tips video that actually gives _advanced_ tips. So many just go over the bare bones basics, especially with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe since it is the most casual & mainstream Mario Kart. This has been really helpful, thanks.
Agreed.
“If drift long enough, pink sparks make boost”
What, are you doing a speed run?
@@stevenwatson9678 💀
THATS NOT GOOD!!!!!
I never thought to spam the brake while brake drifting so on courses like Neo Bowser City I lost unnecessary speed on almost all of my turns for 200cc. Thank you for this!
I just clicked on the video because i found it interesting, and mid video I thought you were a big Mario Kart UA-camr, but you're actually way smaller than I thought. Very good video, keep it up!
Thanks! Apparently the algorithm has been good to me haha
Atleast this has 1k likew
oh ur right, I also thought this was a big channel. Very high quality video
But what stops you from getting hit by something on the last turn of every race that makes you go from 1st to 4th every time? Happens way too often.

Skill issue
Nothing.. it’s called getting “Mario Karted” 😂
Banana, green shell, really any item held behind you
Git gud 😎
Tip for everyone else: I think a good way to see the brake drifting in action (10:56) is to look at the wheels. It may be faint, but rocks come out of the wheels when he’s braking.
Also note the sound too, its louder than the average drift sound
this is such a great video. im a decent mk8 player but ive never really looked into advanced strats and this is honestly probably the best way i couldve been introduced to them. really really great stuff
Dude your awesome! Absolutely no filler, straight to the point, and felt very honest. All the tips (exept maybe motion glider) were good, great stuff!
You aren't the real sgt guy.
You aren’t the real ICEcold Toddy
@@birdguy9864you aren't the REAL bird guy
I've been getting into MK8D more recently and your videos help a lot! Thanks
This is one of, if not the most helpful Mario Kart videos I have seen in quite some time. Thank you so much for the help, even if this video is a couple months old now.
Just started speedruns this week of no item 150cc. I'm glad I know the "Why" behind all these tricks now.
This video is awesome! I was happy to find out I’ve already been doing some of the things recommended in this video. Not only were the tips super helpful, but the race footage showed lines I would never even have remotely considered!
As someone who played (and still does play) a lot of MkWii, it's great to see that many of my favorite techniques from wii are still in 8dx..
Your videos are great. My wife and I just completed the full gold buildout of MKD8, and your tutorials were a huge help. As a 50 year old trying to pull off maneuvers that are easy for the kids, it's vital to get these kinds of broken-out steps to plan my routes. Now to beat all the 200cc ghosts! :-)
man it’s crazy that people have been able to find these little detail tricks! so cool & super helpful i’ll definitely keep these in mind while playing :]
Great video!
Here is just a quick note: You can actually use motion glider in online if you are fast enough to pause the game before and after the glider. It is pretty common among high level players to do that in wars or wws.
Interesting, I didn't know that. I still hate it tho haha >.
@@Bayesic For motion glider I know you press the stick back and to the right or left, but what about the controller angle itself? Is it sufficient just to tilt the controller to the left or right or should the top corner of the controller come up as well to sort of create the same angle as the stick? I ask because I actually play with motion controls by default lol.
@@WhiteLightnin38 The controller’s motion sensor is more precise than you think, so that means the top of the controller should come to play as well, and generally you want to make the angle of your controller at 45 degrees to left/right. What I like to do is to put my stick fully back, maybe slightly left or right as well, and I make the tilt control do the turning. This really helps me in the Mario Kart Stadium’s most optimal way to do the 150cc Nisc.
@@Bayesic i hate it too as its so annoying to see but its very effective both in online and time trials. i just don't like that its a result of Nintendo's anti fun mechanic that limits where you can glide to
Yooo, this video is like made for me, awesome i got it in my recommendations!!
Just really got into this game after playing on and off here and there. Thanks for the video
Awesome video, straight to the point with no fluff. I’ll have to implement these soon. Thanks
I have been playing Mario kart for forever and this video is extremely helpful. Thank you.
Thank you!!! I've had a hard time finding information on counterhopping so this is a breath of fresh air~!
I like the stats of the Roller wheels, but they're usually the best choice for way too many types of builds and they look ridiculous. I would like to see new kart options with this DLC but it's looking like it's just going to be tracks, and that's okay I guess, I just think a changeup to the meta would be refreshing.
They're so tiny, it's kinda adorable. Doesn't really make me think of "best wheels" however. Then again, it's Mario kart; people are riding wigglers and bugs lmao
@@psigreen3864 I play koopa with pipe frame and rollers so people don't think i'm a tryhard in public lobbies lol
It's annoying that 90% of people online use them tbh
@@ItsYuhBoyyyy Ma boyyy have you ever played MKWII online?? It was a nightmare of Funky Kong.
@@maikybourgeois5086 and an occasional daisy
This was really well put together, thanks for all the tips
Thank you very much for this insightful video ! I'm getting ready for a tournament in my company and this helps a lot !
Beautiful content right here! Lots of good information and great structure!
Thanks a lot for this video, I’m trying to do competitive Mario Kart for the first time this year in my school’s esports club, and I’ll have to be sure to give these strategies a try.
This came into my recommendations. This was a very interesting video to watch. I appreciate the tips! :)
I have a feeling I’m gonna forget half of these so I’ll watch this pretty much every time I play Mario kart 8 deluxe
Thank you so much for all the content. I have an esports team who has just started a Mario Kart league season and my student will be watching all the videos to prepare themselves to compete along with my shoutcasters.
Very nice!
Actually great tips. Gonna be trying em a lot in time trial before going online again. Thanks a lot 👏
dude I have never heard anyone say "thanks for taking the time to watch and i LOVE it so much ty for vid
i don't know why, but just seeing the slowdown of a breakdrift and then being propelled forward by a mini turbo is _incredibly_ satisfying
This video is super helpful. I don't know how long it will take me to master these skills, but I will be making am effort to do so. Soon I will be making a video about these tips and I will be crediting you in the video. Hope that it will attract people to this video!
Appreciate what you've done here
Really appreciate you putting the time into sharing this info. So helpful!
I knew this was going to be good!
I started playing MK8DX recently your videos are informative and helpful thank you
Great stuff, man.
As someone that just started less than 2 weeks ago this is very helpful...I having a tough time in online VS mode once i hit ~3k rating as the much more experienced players implement most if not all of these tricks to leave me in the dust...not to mention all the cool red shell dodges they pull off regularly vs me :(
I never even do red shell dodges haha. Too complicated for me
I can't wait to share this with my esports team!
Thank you for sharing this information
As somebody who has played Mario Kart since DoubleDash it does feel satisfying seeing some stuff you learned on your own in such a Video. Really informative about a lot of stuff and it´s insane how much "free time save" there is (excluding stuff exclusive to the track)
Your video is really helpful thank you. Finally real ADVANCED tips.
I'm not an english speaker but compared to other advanced tuto I'm used to watch (i.e. smash) I had difficulty to understand how to perfom the techniques you show. But I will undestand when I will try to practice them.
Thank you again for providing us such hard to fine nformation.
At some point I will redo these videos with an input display so you can see my controller
@@Bayesic Nice to hear that! I am looking forwars to see that.
Awesome Video!
thanks for the info i played CTR hard out as a kid still pretty good at it, but this plays different and i was confused at how to get some good sharp turns going so the info on the breaking drift will definitely help me so thanks again :)
Great video!
Thanks for the advice!
Awesome vid !
These are really useful! Thanks!
Thanks for the helpful tricks!
Great vid!
Awesome video!! Thanks man
Nice tips! Very advanced
This helped me so much in my tournament thx
Great vid as always
Good info, thanks
Definitely helpful. Thank you.
I think this will be ussful, thanks for the video. I am having trouble with 2 tracks on 200cc so this video may help with that. I keep going off track. I will see if I can apply what is covered in this video for when I play the game next.
How does this only have 425,00 views?!?! This was a very well done instructional tip tricks Mario Kart video!
I am pleased I figured out slip and brake drift on my own. Cause no idea on the rest, lol.
A helpful tip video! Thank you! My boyfriend used to play Mario kart tournaments for money so he’s very competitive as am I. This will help me be better!
Thanks man good vid
While I CAN say I ran into a few of these tricks myself, but only used them really situationally, my 150cc Time Trial attempts would have been a LOT less hair-splitting had I known all of these tricks. This video is going to be a blessing when I try to smash my records, thank you.
And hopefully when you demolish your friends!
Appreciate these tips.
Thanks for your work
Great video! There was a lot to learn from it. And that's coming from someone who thought he masted everyhting in MK8 on the Wii U.
Brilliant video, very informative. (:
Nice work!
didn't know this game could get THAT difficult and complex
I appreciate this video so much. Took me from 3000 to 8000 like THAT.
Very interesting!
“Thank you for watching”
Nah bro thanks for making the video. Finally getting into Mario cart and this video helped a lot thanks
Super helpful!
Thanks, very helpful
thank you for the tips
Some really useful tips I consider myself a competent Mario Kart player I have learned some new techniques from this video
this was pretty helpful because i didn't really understand the point of hopping before drifting sometimes cause i just got the game from not playing since wii u mk8
Whoa there, cowboy. Clearly, I'm way 'zero' for this guide--I haven't even played this thing in years. It's time for me to go back to your 'how to play, video I wish I had when I started.'😅
i love your videos!
IT WAS SO GOOD THANK U IMA DROP A LIKE AND subscribe
I'm old and somehow Mario Kart was never a part of my gaming background. I need to catch up to speed, so to speak, and this really helps!
you are a smaller mario kart youtuber than i imagined! you deserve more subscribers!
Definitely working my way up though haha. Almost at the level where I can apply for partnership!
Nice video
Yeah
Thank you sir!!
I only very recently found out about brake drifting, and only because I couldn't make turns in 200cc and had to figure out how. It's pretty tricky to learn to use at all for me since My brain is already nearly 100% occupied as is, and a fair bit more so to use competently, much less well.
Slip drifting I learned accidentally and has served me very well. It's one of the best ways I've learned to be good at 150cc and make several of those tighter post-jump turns.
ive only played mkwii so i just now learned that mk8 has similar strats like low air, slip drifts, and delay drifts
Thanks!
You and jpgiviner make the best mk8d videos
thankyou for this! ive been chosen for my schools girls esport comp and i need 2 work on my drift this rlly helped
Awesome, glad to hear it!
thank you, I am letting you know that your video is very nice.
Thanks for the vid man! There really aren't any videos, especially non condescending, explaining these things
Working on getting better at 150 cc TTs. I think I might need a tutorial on counter hopping jump alignment whatever though haha can't figure it out. Improved times thanks to your tutorials tho 👍
I mess around on the MK8 speed running discord from time to time and I’ve lost track of the number of times that somebody has come in like “I’m not sure how to figure out this strategy here” and someone goes “just watch the WR”
Like if I could figure out all the stuff the world record is doing, I’d already have WR lol
Brilliant
Thank u brother
Thank you 👏🏽👏🏽❤️
You should have way more subs than you do, this was super useful!
try mk wii
it would be cool to see a plain map with every kind of obstacle where you are forced too take a character and kart combo and the game tells you if you should switch to a new combination.
keep the kart kontent koming!
Being a kontent kreator kan get pretty krazy
I was so surprised with the way you said electrodrome. I always thought it was electroDOME, so I looked it up and it turns out you were right. Imma keep saying it like electrodome tho, I think it sounds better that way after saying it for years.
🤣🤣🤣
Great video to become an advanced MK player! The only thing that is not correct in this video is that motion glider is also an essential skill to have to compete with top players on online racing, and it is not only for a speed run. I have seen quite a lot of players quickly switching on and off the motion sensor before and after the final corners of, for example, Mario Kart Stadium and Dolphin Shoals. When it is crowded around that corner, it is possible to move up in the final place by 3~4.
But of course, this technique shouldn't be the first one to learn before mastering the others.
awesome
