Most gas stations no matter the brand get filled by the same tanker truck. Just liked buying supermarket brand canned corn, chances are it was canned on the same line in the same plant as Green Giant, Libby’s and Del Monte just with different labels and prices.
Not so much. I have the 2.5 Turbo in my CX-5. I change the oil and filter every 2500 miles, but that's me. The compression ratio of the 2.5L Turbo is less than the normally aspirated engine.
Don't be confused as it's not really a 14 to 1 compression ratio, it's a 14 to 1 power ratio. This engine uses Miller cycle operation which holds the intake valve open longer to push some of the intake air back out on the compression stroke. The effective compression ratio is closer to the 8-10 to 1 needed avoid engine knock on low octane fuel to . The full 14 to 1 power ratio means more power is harvested on the power stroke with greater fuel economy resulting.
It does not use the Miller Cycle. It uses variable valve timing to acheive, under certain conditions, the principles of the Atkinson cycle. The Miller Cycle, by definition, uses either a supercharger or turbocharger. But yes you're absolutely right that it's not 14:1 at all times.
indeed, for compression test, mazda official note says the pressure measured when doing test would be arround 8 bars because the intake valves stays open even when piston goes up. 14:1 is the difference of volume between dead up and dead down

@@sekkaro5258 The stupid owner's manual says 4.5qt with a filter change. That is no where full. 5+ should be used with oil/filter change. Also, wait a while, like a half hour before checking the oil after adding. It takes a long time for the oil to get to the sump. But it still takes way more than the manual states.

40k and i launched my cx5 with 2.5 no turbo and my car increase fuel efficiency and reduce its performance and it have a noise while the engine is cold help me guyss pleaseeeee
I understand Mazda defeated that problem in two ways. The engine has a built-in fuel/oil separator, so no aftermarket catch can is needed. Also, Mazda found that keeping the valves above 400 degrees F would prevent carbon build up, so they designed the head coolant passages to accomplish that.
Carbon build up is normal for GDI engines, but occasional Italian tuneups would do the trick. Driving like a grandma would contribute even more to carbon building up. Watch videos on how to clean the carbon from the valves.
If you do your maintenance as required even the shittiest cars will last you for decades. If you do not, even the most expensive cars will die prematurely. I thought this was common knowledge.
There is a reason why other manufacturers don’t go that high on compression ratio. Another similar example, BMW make their engines run too lean and their engines are currently suffering heat issues.
It's not really a problem on a Miller cycle engine like the SkyActive G is, but it's also not really a 14 to 1 compression. More correctly, it's 14 to one power stroke ratio since the intake valve is held open a bit long on the compression stroke.
Expect the BELT TENTIONER to take a dump at 50K miles on sky active engines, mine(2023 CX-50) just took a dump and it cost 583.00 dollars to replace, Mazda is aware of the shitty belt tensioners and has done nothing about it...

95,000 kms on our 2018 Mazda 3 (SP25) no problems what so ever, since the car was new i always use higher octane good quality fuel (98 Octane) I change the oil every 8,000 kms i always use good quality 100% synthetic oil and filter.
what brand of engine oil?
The best engine.
No
I have a 2015 Cx-5 Touring with 105k miles I'm 2nd owner and it's been good but recently it has a lil shake on idle but has new spark plugs, I only use Premium fuel and all Fluid Maintenances have been done. Sometimes feels slugish on acceleration like it doesn't want to barley move and also transmission sometimes has some rough shifting.
100% PR! I have a Mazda 6 2.5l with 194HP. You can drive it easily with 12l/100km. Also 7.5l are possible. 8.5-9.5l are normal. My 2006 Toyota Avensis 2.4l with 163 HP before used the same if not a bit less.
I have a Mazda 3 with 186hp and my average according to the bordcomputer is 5.7. And I live in the middle of a city so its not just highway cruising.

My 2015 for 2 years of ownership now at 74k miles zero issues besides rotors and change oil every 4-4500miles may be thats why chains stretch and go bad the 12k oil changes
Mazda 3 with 2L engine. Oil change every 6000 miles. 115.000 miles, no issues so far.
I got a Mazda 3 with the 2.5 Skyactive G engine only 2 weeks ago. So far no problems.
Yup, use top tier gas only from stations that have the top tier logo. E.g. Shell.
Allmost ALL stations in the U.S. have top tier gasoline any more. That USED to be an issue decades ago, but not any more.
@@andrewc4606 I am in Canada, eh.
@@ali3liawhat top tier gas has that lower tier gas dont. And how does it benefit the car?
@@VuLe-t9m From what I know so far, top-tier gas has more detergents and hence a cleaner engine.
Most gas stations no matter the brand get filled by the same tanker truck. Just liked buying supermarket brand canned corn, chances are it was canned on the same line in the same plant as Green Giant, Libby’s and Del Monte just with different labels and prices.
Does this apply to Mazda’s turbo charged 2.5 engines as well?
Not so much. I have the 2.5 Turbo in my CX-5. I change the oil and filter every 2500 miles, but that's me. The compression ratio of the 2.5L Turbo is less than the normally aspirated engine.
You wrong , buddy !@@charlesbartholomew2910
I’m debating more and more to get this with a six speed manual
14:1 is the difference of volume between dead up and dead down
@deegan463 can you tell me your personal choice between mazda cx5 or cx50 turbo or non turbo compare to acura rdx turbo which is better 🤔
Have you guys had your cx5's engine opened up every 50k as said in the video?
Lol no, my engine hasn't needed to be touched in 200,000 miles. Oil changes and new spark plugs is all I've had to do.
@@l4dfreak101have you ever serviced the transmission?
No. Just regular maintenance.
@@sailboatlighthouseI would service every 30 k to prevent issues

I've had the oil light indicator go on after an oil change and disappeared from another half-court added and is fine until the next Oil Change I don't think their capacity is right
Same here. My '21 Mazda6 Signature has 28k now. Recently took to Valvoline Instant oil change and they under-filled it. I wanted to add Prolong anyway and I bought a qt of Mobile 1 5/30 to top it off with (not the whole qt of course, but I did over-fill just a smidge...sigh...)
I just changed my oil/filter. Took more than spec (4.5qt), almost 5qt.
Many CX5 owners have found for the 2.5L engine 5 quarts will fill it to the halfway mark, 5.4 quarts to fill to the max.
I got an oil leak from my oil sensors. Replaced it with new one and this time its leaking again. Any advice?
No wonder my CX-50 runs better on Top Tier gas. I tossed in 89 and the mileage went up. I like the fact, he mentioned changing the oil every 6 not 12k miles. People that believe every 10 to 12 is fine, you're going to have sludge and problems.
Never had any of these problems. I own a 2014 CX-5 Touring.
How many miles on it? I've got a 2020 CX-5 with 36K on it and am wondering about long term reliability...thank you.
Mine has misfires or rpm stuttering when starting up. Mine also gets extremely poor in gas mpg. I have 2023 Mazda cx50 and it’s my first Mazda. Not thrilled by this suv performance.
60K on a 2018, no problems. Average 33.7mpg
33mpg? Non turbo I’m guessing?
@@guitarplayer4429 No turbo. I live in the desert where dirt gets into everything. Just one more piece of machinery to fail. Performance is fine being naturally asperated. I would never buy a turbo anyway, too much added stress on the engine.
@@jamescampolo7824 agreed, I was shown and drive the turbo, going back to drive a non turbo, I don’t need a race car, just something dependable
@@guitarplayer4429 I just changed my air filter from a K&N to a Purolator One after reviews on Project Farm found filtration better on the Purolator. so I reset the mpg. Driving my usual routes, about 40 miles per day, 50/50 city/highway, where I was getting 33.7, now after 125miles, it is reading 35+. Driving behaviour the same on the same daily routes, now with a new air filter and not using A/C (not needed now). I've been expecting the mpg to settle lower but it is still the same, +- 35. We'll see after 1kmiles. That's almost as good as my Honda Valkyrie 1520cc 6cyl bike which gets about 37 riding the same circuit.
@@jamescampolo7824 Thats impressive gains, might give one a try....we avg on our 14 Cx5 near 24 mpg but wife has alot of stop and go traffic....171k miles and runs quite well.
I was looking at the mazda cx50 i have heard alot of good about this brand one day i will test drive one to see what i think i like that theres no turbo or cvt trans option😊
I just bought a cx-5 for those very reasons also because of supply chain issues most of the 24 models and some 25 models (mine) dont have the i-stop or cylinder deactivation built in them-Win Win....
Number #1 problem we have in Australia is the water outlet flange breaking o ring failure , causing loss of water and over heat .

Which gas is the best for mazda cx5 in canada?
any carbon buildup issue???
Love It No Turbo They Go Bad One More Thing To Fix Turbos Were Big In The Eighties Not Worth It Love The Reg 2.5 No Turbo Nothing For Me
why does the Mazda dealership want to clean the carbon off the intake valves every ten thousand miles for $200 because of carbon buildup? If it is not done, the milage goes down from 50mpg to 35 mpg.
Can I carbon clean it? Mine have 88k on the clock
Thank you for a great video. Does a CX5 2.5L engine have both port & direct fuel injection like RAV4 2.5L engine?
direct only
What type of fuel is best?
It's designed to run on 87 from top tier gas stations.
What year is your Mazda?
40k and i launched my cx5 with 2.5 no turbo and my car increase fuel efficiency and reduce its performance and it have a noise while the engine is cold
help me guyss pleaseeeee
Coolant control valve is faulty up to nov.2020. A new one is expensive🤨
I just hit 76,000 and i started noticing a low ticking noise recently. 😢
Anyone with GDI have carbon build up?

Toyota engines are the best in terms of reliability.
What is poor quality gasoline, like too low octane level or what?
Low detergent levels.
Yes, the cheapest, mid grade is just a little bit more I think, for now anyways.
Stretched timing chain at 50,000 miles is ridiculous. Caused by lack of oil changes.
444000 km with no issues at all
There is a reason why other manufacturers don’t go that high on compression ratio.
This engine has been proven for years ...whats your point , BMW failed at high compression not Mazda ....what is your point .
