I bought a JM 1989 cs last week and I believe mine was a cabinet queen maybe a box of 20 through it. The buck horn site you speak of of yours was still there flips up and down I learned with mine I was not aware of and was presently surprised. Hunt with it👍 yes just enjoy taking more careful time hunting. I'm going out with mine and mine is in mint out of box condition. To lighten the load on it I also bought a 336 dark. Have fun and enjoy it,your on the earth for a short time. God bless 🙏
I have a JM stamped 336 cs. $250 Brand new at K-Mart in 93'. My gun shop says it's 95% and $1200 to the right collector. I have a cheap Gander Mt optic on it. Love that rifle! I'm w the previous comment, shoot it every other sunday, keep her nice and new!
I picked up a 30 inch octagon barrel unfired or action moved Winchester 94 once. I shot the hell out of it and sold it for more than I paid for it. SHOOT THE GUN!
Many people prefer a fixed power scope on a lever gun. Like a 4x fixed. But i actually prefer just a regular 3-9-40.. so i can zoom in on the bullet holes while zeroing. Too old to be walking back and forth and too cheap to buy a spotting scope. Lol
Eh, life's short, go shoot it. Load it again and shoot it. Go hunting and put a big old white tail on the wall with it. Lord knows I don't have the self discipline to own safe queens. However , if you do decide to let it live in the safe I can appreciate your enthusiasm for that beauty. Would I load it, put in the scabbard etc? Heck yes! I have a 1950 high power that when I acquired it in 1998 was graded "as new". I have put meat on the table and made lots of hunting memories with my children with that rifle . Would it be graded "as new" today? Lord no. There are scratches rust and a crack in the but plate. But she was built to hunt and hunt she has.
I expect this rifle to fill my freezer this coming deer season. I can appreciate it being “never fired” but i bought a deer rifle. Not a collectable. Lol….
That thing is too darn pretty to be used to go hunting and be scratched up even a bit. Stick it in the safe and fire it every other Sunday. A scope would definitely make it look better. As always great content.💯

An unused firearm of any condition is just a paper weight my opinion is to shoot and enjoy it kill some meat with it!!! Great rifle!
You have a fine firearm that was made to be used.
Go enjoy it!

Yes and what would be a good scope to mount on a 30-30?

No I would not use it. I would have left all factory grease in it an put it in the safe for a great grand child. Just saying. 😊
Guns are made to shoot...
I'd fire it and hunt with it
