    Just picked one up today at a gun shop / coin shop in NE Pennsylvania. Mine dates from 1967 and it cleaned up Great! Has a 20" trapper barrel. No checkering on the hard wood and it is mounted with a very nice 4x scope. Off to the range tomorrow.

    Year late but this was a nice video. I actually found my Glenfield in a thrift store a month back. Was a pottery/thrift/small gun store. It belonged to the owner and Said he never fired it. Mine was from 67'. Condition was great. Only a bit of rust, about 2 nicks in the wood, and a loose handguard. Speaking of wood mine has a walnut stock and handguard so I was very pleased. Came with a scope as well a Bushnell Sportsview 4x 32

    Thanks much for the great video! I was having a hell of a time trying to figure out my serial number as I believed it started with 89-xxxxxx. When you said the first few years were marked with the correlating year numbers, I got out a magnifying glass and saw that it was actually a 6. So I've got a 69! Awesome rifle, great video.

    Picked up a 1981 Model 30A, a few months ago. Nice smooth action on it. Haven't had a chance to shoot it, yet, because life happens. It's a nice addition to my Marlin collection.

    Great rifle. I have one just like it that I inherited from my dad. I have several 30-30 rifles that he gave me but I think that particular one is my favorite.

    Beautiful rifle! I've got the same one from '71. Mine is in worse shape and needs to be reblued, but that doesn't effect the accuracy! I've mounted a Leupold VXII 2x7 with Talley bases on mine. It's my first rifle that I purchased, so it's definitely worth keeping.

    Mine was given to me when I was 15 from my dad. It is a Glenfield, however it has marlin name on buttplate, full the and bands. I love the thing and it is still my main rifle preference to this day and I'm 45 now.

    I proudly have a Glenfield just like it. That was my first deer rifle. I have several rifles to choose from to hunt with but once a year l will take it hunting. Got a doe with it a couple years ago. 45 years and it still puts venison on the table.

    Thanks. Just purchased a 69 prefix today. Good price. Has a very dirty chamber. Hopefully I can polish it up. It is engraved with a bobcat on one side of the receiver and a turkey on the opposite side. Some light rust. I'm thinking about putting a receiver sight on it, if I can get that chamber cleaned up satisfactorily.

    Hold onto that Glenfield that’s worth some bucks💰 It’s now collectors item.
    I remember these guns when I was young, Marlin also made the Glennfield 22 long rifle I still have that one they put a squirrel on it and on their Glenfield deer gun they put a deer I sure wish I would’ve got one back then.
    I don’t know if you’re still looking for 45/70, but it’s now June 2022 and Ruger has started selling Marlin in 45/70 and it looks like Ruger has got it right, their new Marlins are excellent quality really excellent complete opposite of Remington Marlins excellently fitted well-made and super accurate. Soon they will be producing the 30/30 but they started with the 45/70s.

      @@southernarsenal908 no problem there are a couple UA-cam channels that are testing and reviewing the new Ruger marlin in 45/70 and the reviews are extremely positive, Ruger so far has done an excellent job re-creating possibly even a better gun, even some are saying an even better gun than Marlin? If you look up on the UA-cam “NRA gun of the week: marlin firearms model 1895 SBL”

    Thank you for the video and the knowledge. My father gave me a Model 30 (1968). It does not have the inlay on the stock or forearm. It is a little darker than yours. I just ordered the optics, base and rings, again thanks for the knowledge.

    My neighbor has a 70s era 30A in pristine shape he'll sell to me for $500. Has a Marlin 4x32 scope on it.
    Has no sling mounts or holes for them.
    No blemishes , nicks , scratches or rub marks.
    Giving it a serious think over..

    • @southernarsenal908
      @southernarsenal908  Рік тому

      Depending on the condition, you really cant go wrong. They not making anymore “JM” stamped marlins anymore. Theyre only gonna go up in price and get harder to find.

    • @southernarsenal908
      @southernarsenal908  Рік тому

      Well, it depends entirely on its condition. Like the one in this video, expect to pay somewhere from 450.00-600.00. On average. Sometimes more.

    She is a dandy nice looking rifle never ever part with it and I hope who ever you hand it down to never offs it to anyone other than family handed down the line beautiful rifle I'm jealous my 336 1980 model JM don't have the nice engraving on the wood it is Walnut and I really wished mine had the single barrel oh well no doubt it is pinpoint accurate my 336 will knock a nut off of water Buffalo's ass 😂 lol it truly is super accurate iron sights I don't put scopes on the 30-30 lever it just don't look right and it ain't right you can't shoot anything past 200 yd you do not need it and most shots are about 150 to 175 those are all kill shots bear pigs it was still anything that has breath under it

    The barrel is 16 inches cost 69.00 in 1970 smooth accurate good blueing and it's only let me down once because l didn't clean the chamber or ammo and a shell got stuck. It's my preferred gun to hunt with so much that l have never shot my other marlins that l bought used about 6 years ago!!!!!.
