Grusha was kind of a dick in this episode. I think Liko should've passed. Yeah, she didn't defeat any of his pokemon, but came up with effective strategies that did do quite an amount of damage to the point that Grusha had to switch out Cetitan ( which could kinda count as a defeat in my opinion. It didn't faint, but he saw it as unfit for battling, at least momentarily) and terastallized at an appropriate time. But Grusha has this extreme point of view that a loss equals failure, despite the skills she displayed. I think throughout the next episodes something is going to happen that will make Grusha reconsider his decision.
@@Maypril1894 it feels like he's pushing his trauma onto Liko with the whole "you failed, give up" deal he gave her, kinda mirroring how he gave up snowboarding after his injury. If any other gym leader was there, Paledan or not, they would've torn into him for pushing such defeatist ideals on the children who's growth he's supposed to support

I UNDERSTAND that winning is not the point of these tests, but at the same time I personally do not feel satisfied that they passed without winning. Plus I think that Liko and Dot need more wins under their belt in general.
Well he did mention about winning in real world situations (Something along that line) so I have a feeling one of the evil members is gonna come into the story putting her into a fighting moment to which she'll either make it look easy or show the dedication to not lose and come out on top. After that I feel like Grusha is gonna pass her on the test
Now that's what I call an amazing Terestal test. Gotta be my favourite of all. Though I didn't like the result, but I liked that the writers are going by the character dynamics, insted of plot armour. Liko could have passed the test, had it not been Grusha, but now since he is her tester, she need to put in some real effort and beat the stuffing out of him (That line sounds a bit familiar. It will, 'coz that's the catchphrase of Mash Burnedead from Mashle, who shared the seiyu with Grusha). My personal favourite moment, Grusha insulting Katy, Iono and Larry in a single line, "Passing you despite losing the battle, what a frigid joke!" That shows how battling means different to different gym leaders.
Fr.. Her voice when she thanked him, it was full of emotions. She's so mature to keep her emotions under control. The only time she showed them was in episode 56 and then, everyone backlashed her for being weak.
I actually want Liko to grow more and not easily pass the test. Because the way she battles definitely shows how much she's grown in the series, and I don't want the passing grade dilute the golden opportunity to make herself a better battler. They really made good use of Grusha in this Episode, by roughing up her feathers to do better to see fulfilling results from winning battles. 8/10 Bonuce Points for the ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE Certoddle cameos!!!! it was basic a Perfect Episode for me.❤🤣
Finally Someome who agrees, people need to stop comparing Liko to Ash and she is a different person with different goals letting her pass wouldn't be a pity pass since it was said that the test is about how they battle and how they used terastalisation not about if they win (I mean you do kinda actually need to win to beat that Shiny Rayquaza they been after… but you get the idea…)

Ig that could happen. Since Spinel is also there, some reveals about the Eternal Blessings would also happen, which may lead to more plot in context to Terapagos. To put it in simple words, what if Rakurium that Spinel has, reawaken Terapagos's potential. Grusha would see it and inquire Liko about what's going on, and listening to how desperate she is to reach Laqua, he may accept a rematch, 'coz as per the backstory, he still has some warmth in his heart. They just need to ignite it more, and these events would definitely help in it.
I just watched this episode a few minutes ago, and I really enjoyed it. I loved Grusha's backstory and Liko's strategies, but I felt really sorry for Liko in the end. Hopefully, after the next few episodes, she will have her rematch against Grusha and pass her implementation test. Overall, I give this episode a 9/10.
My prediction is that she'll get another chance with him, since they promoted him a decent bit early on in, I don't think this will be the last we see of him, especially with the next few episodes focusing on the Explorers. I'm thinking that, since we see the kids having trouble with their phones, they'll realize that Spinel was involved and maybe go to Grusha for help, especially considering Spinel's mindwiping antics from before. (Like, you do that to a child on an icy mountain, and she could very well die. Spinel doesn't hesitate to hurt people, we saw that when he tried to have his Magneton attack Dot directly.) Or perhaps he catches sight of her battle on his own, since we saw him wandering in the mountains, he might watch her battle with them, realize the gravity of her situation and give her another shot.
I really don’t like Grusha in this episode, it feels like he’s not doing his proper job as a gym leader like Larry and Ryme did. He just failed Liko despite her good performance because… she was passing the time by having fun…? And to not allow her to rematch him just spits in the face of the notion that people can grow and improve, the very thing gym leaders are supposed to promote. He didn’t even really tell her how she could be better like Ryme, just up and told a ten year old “you failed” Grusha may be the region’s strongest, but he is by far the worst gym leader

When it comes to the HZ trio's 1st Caught Pokemon's 1st Official Battles, I'd probably say Hattrem did the best out of Kilowattrel & Tinkatink. Her Confusion-controlled Icicle Spear Sendback & Spinning Collision between Ice Spinner & Brutal Swing were pretty good! And I definitely do hope that the opportunity arises for Another Liko vs Grusha to happen again given the next lineup of eps, so I'm on the edge of my seat in hopes that a silver lining of a comeback arises (I'd love it if it turns out that Geeta magically shows up & turns Grusha into an anxious worrywart when he's around her and makes him reconsider what he's done given he's so scared of La Primera) - And all I can say in the end after this episode is that Grusha might have just added another new reason as to why he is one of my least favorite of Paldea Gym Leaders!!
Really enjoyed this one, especially after so many crappy episodes lately (i didnt like the dot vs larry episode that much and the roy vs rhyme 2 parter was painfully eh). I like that Liko didn't get some bs "you lost but good effort so you passed!," she lost and actually has to deal with the consequences. I love how Grusha was portrayed, his strictness was a nice change of pace and i feel like his "don't joke about passing when you lost" ideology is the same that i have as part of the audience, lol. Anyway i'm super curious about the future, I could see Liko getting a rematch but i think it'd be really interesting if she doesn't, we could get a cool arc about her coming back from being behind the other protagonists (kinda like Dawn coming back from her losing streak in DP), and if she's not allowed to Tera then maybe it could open the door to her getting another battle gimmick in the future like Mega Evolutions for example Anyway, 7/10 from me too, overall i'm satisfied with this episode. Looking forward to the Amethio plotline coming up!

i want liko to get a turning point in her story (like ash got in xy after bw) liko should start focusing on herself rather than supporting roy ( maybe she would get some development in the next few episodes which would be lore focusing )
Honestly, I hope so too, from the beginning of the series until now I've noticed that in fact liko doesn't think much about herself and puts others above her, I hope it's not because of a sad past because I know some people would still talk badly about her
I must say that this was one of the best performances that Liko has given so far. And if she was assigned to either Kofu or Tullip with this then i was assured that she would be passed. But no she was assigned to Grusha who has this attitude on her. Liko was Doomed from the start. This was unfair to her and a insult to the other Gym leaders and to all the challengers
The subs made a crucial error this time around context wise, saying that Liko had the advantage when she Terastallized. She didn't. She simply had a better match up since Grass VS Ice is 0.5x effective while VS Dragon/Flying it quad-resists.
Heck I thought this whole time Grusha what does she, but once I heard his voice in this episode I was confused why she said it like a man, but once I looked it up, I realize Grusha was a male lol, why do some male characters look like a girl? Especially the hairstyle got me confused the most.
Damn i get what they're gdoing with Liko's character... But seriously can you give that poor girl a win ? She's literally losing all her battles basically it's kinda sad at this point... And also the "second" pokemon of the main character being useless once again ... It really feels like the writers only care about the 3 starters :/

Although I am a rigid Liko fan, Roy's still in some way important to this series. And I feel we can love our favourite character, without pulling any other character down.
