Regarding Raihan, Lance actually based his outfit off of RAIHAN'S! So Raihan wasn't inspired by Lance, but the other way around! Another fun fact about Gordie is that he's the only version exclusive Gym Leader in Galar to not use a Gen 1 Pokémon for Gigantamax. Gordie has a Coalossal as his ace, while Allister chooses Gengar, Bea chooses Machamp, and Melony chooses Lapras. And another Gym Leader that uses an impossible Pokémon is Fantina. In the The Battle Between Legendary Pokémon in BW2, a download tournament within the Pokémon World Tournament, Fantina uses Origin Forme Giratina holding a Ghost Gem. But a Giratina couldn't hold a Ghost Gem outside the Distortion World to turn into its Origin Forme as it needs a Griseous Orb.
Here's another fact about the two gym leaders of Stow-on-Side. Despite having her glove on her right hand, Bea appears to take a southpaw fighting stance. Mustard is seen doing this exact stance with a few differences. Allister is left-handed, but he appears to be throwing with more focus on his right hand. This likely means either the glove goes on the person's writing hand or they ran out of right-handed ghost trainer gloves. Also, if you make a video for the elite 4, I think you'll also do the same thing you did with Grusha to Rika, saying, "Rika... it's a girl," and whatever else you might say about her. (And I'm still shocked they allowed a literal five-year-old in the elites.)

Maybe I’m misinterpreting this, but it’s possible to have a Pokémon learn two egg moves from two different original parent Pokémon. For example in Gen 7 (SMUSUM) my Alolan Nintetales on Sun knows both Freeze Dry & Moonblast. I simply bred a female Alolan Vulpix with a male Sylveon to learn Moonblast. I continued hatching until I got a female Alolan Vulpix that knows Moonblast. Using my 2nd 3DS and I eventually taught my Moon male Smeargle Freeze Dry via battling my Vanilluxe on Sun. Traded the Smeargle over to Sun after the battle, then bred it with my newly evolved female Alolan Ninetales w/ Moonblast. From there Every hatched Alolan Vulpix knows BOTH Freeze Dry & Moonblast, two eggs moves from TWO different parents being Smeargle and Sylveon respectively. I now have so many of these in my Pokémon home, a few of which I transferred over to Gen 8 (SwSh). Currently on Gen 9 (SV) I did a very similar but much easier process having plenty of Baxcalinur knowing both Freeze Dry & Dragon Rush. While yes it’s a very lengthy process however my point is that it’s very much possible to do this legally, without cheats, bots, etc. A Pokémon knowing two eggs moves from different parents isn’t necessarily illegal. Again, let me know if I misinterpreting anything. ☺️
Prior to gen 6, offspring could not inherit egg moves from the mother, only the father. So some of those pokemon might really be illegal, although I do think he overlooked a few. For example, Chuck's Sandslash in Stadium 2 should be legal with a male Smeargle if you sketch metal claw and rock slide and then breed it with a female Sandshrew or Sandslash.
@@TodPoleDotCom No, the video is right. In Gen V and before, only the male parent could pass on egg moves, so it would be impossible to have 2 egg moves from 2 different lines. Just to use the Illegal crowbat from 1:05 as an example, Hyponosis and Brave Bird are both egg moves for Zubat, with hypnosis being learned by the HootHoot line and Brave Bird being learned by a couple flying lines, but notably NOT the Hoothoot one. You can breed a female Zubat with a male Hoothoot that knows hypnosis to get a Zubat that knows hypnosis. But from there, how do you get a Zubat that knows both Hypnosis AND Brave Bird. If your Zubat that knows hypnosis is female, it can't pass on hypnosis to it's offspring. If your Zubat that knows hypnosis is male, there's know way for it to learn Brave Bird, and you can't breed it with a female, brave-bird-knowing Starly (for example) because then you're just gonna get Starlies. Ergo, getting a Zubat that knows both Hypnosis and Brave Bird is impossible (prior to gen VI)
7:08 The reason they didn’t show up is because Bianca was late to inform them so it was over by the time they were able to get there 7:55 He’s one of, if not, the only gym leaders to not give you a tm right after you beat him, he instead gives it to you after he clears the entrance to chargestone cave. @@randomcommenter6498 Whitney, the Normal type gym leader, is the one that acts like a child after you beat her, the comment you replied to said Clair, the Dragon type gym leader.
I will mention one other fact about Erika: she's also a gym leader who's ace has changed 3 times, her ace was Vileplume in gen 1, Bellossom in gen 2 and then Tangrowth in gen 4 (due to her dojo rematch as her strongest mon there is Tangrowth, so I'll count it)
While I can confirm that's what gordo/a means in Spanish, that's not where Gordie's name comes from! Like most of the other Galar Gym leaders, their English names are plant-related like their Japanese names. Gordie comes from both gourd as well as Geordie which is a term for people from Newcastle upon Tyne, a place that has been historically known for its coal industry. Though Circhester is based on Bath in Somerset. Also, I'm glad that Norman remains the only father to the player in the games, because the Gym battle between the player and him is symbolic, it's that final approval of the direction his child wants to take. And well...he was the only Hoenn Gym leader I had to rematch. For the designs of the Gyms themselves, I love the Kalos Gyms and the BW2 Unova Gyms the most. Like the fact the first ever Fairy-type Gym was a giant DOLLHOUSE, that the Anistar Gym transforms into somewhere outer space, how chill the Humilau Gym is, or the Nimbasa Gym is now a runway for the queen...they all go so hard. And the BW2 Gyms have different versions of the Gym theme for each Gym...so perfect.
The extra memories in Black 2 and White 2, that you unlock by linking Black or White with your game, actually provides an explanation as to way Cilan, Chili and Cress never showed up at N's Castle to help out against Team Plasma. In that memory cutscene, the 3 of them were preparing to leave their gym/restaurant and make their way to N's Castle, but they were intercepted by the Shadow Triad, who then proceeded to defeat the 3 brothers in battle.
In the anime, Volkner is ambidextrous. He is also the first Gym Leader to integrate robots into his Gym design and invented the Aipom arm before Clemont. Clemont’s was just smaller and portable.
I’m not sure if it was you or not, but I think it was, but I recently a few days ago initiated a Tera Raid Battle, in which it turned out to be a shiny Breloom, and I’m pretty sure you participated in it because one of the players had a Lucario named, AuraGuardian and the username was Alex. My Pokémon was an Armorouge named Garredson. I just wanted to say, thank you, in case it was you, for helping me catch my first Tera raid shiny Pokémon. my favourite fact about Skyla is that all of her Pokémon in her Gym battle in Black 2 and White 2 begin with the letter S, for Skyla: she has a Swoobat, a Skarmory, a Swanna, and in Challenge Mode she also has a Sigilyph
7:27 Lenora’s apron was considered insensitive because it pretty strongly evoked the mammy stereotype of Black women - obviously not intended but it’s not some mystery or secret as to why it was changed
0:06 there's a good reason why Brock had no rock type moves in gen 1... there were literally only 2 rock type moves, with both of his pokemon being too low leveled to get either of them (Geodude gets Rock Throw at lv 16, and Onix gets it at lv 19)

Geniunely mindblowing to realize Wulfric is the last official gym battle Ash ever had. Honestly what a fight to go out on though- one of the coolest (no pun intended) gym leaders, and Ash-Greninja vs Mega Abomasnow was an absolute work of art.
The fight was so trash. Literally just the Candice fight from DP but with crappy power ups that cheaps the fight and removes any semblance of challenge in the fight.
Cheren fact, he’s the only 1st Gym Leader in a region who has a neutral type to any starter you might choose. Every other 1st leader, depending on who you choose, has a potential advantage or disadvantage against your starter Pokémon’s type.
Falkner’s type specialty isn’t weak to any of the starter types. Flying might not be neutral against all of them, but it’s not weak to any of them either. However, the player would be at a type disadvantage if they chose Chikorita since grass is strong against flying.
“All of Miriam's Pokémon refer to specific types of medicine and healing: Hypno refers to hypnotherapy and sleeping well, Pincurchin represents acupuncture and possibly shock therapy, Sawsbuck represents aromatherapy and medicinal herbs, Glalie refers to cryotherapy and possibly a cold compress such as an ice pack, Eelektross most likely refers to either a defibrilator or leeching, and Toxapex references acupuncture once again, as well as the use of venom in medicine.” From bulbapedia. I know not a gym leader
Another fun fact about my boy grusha, he actually explains that Geeta was trying to replace him because he wasn't winning enough, but he starts trying harder after
another fun fact about larry is that currently he's the only character who not only is a gym leader but also an elite four member at the same time koga may have been the first gym leader to make elite four statues but he was only known as an elite four member not a gym leader his daughter took over the gym
Honestly Kofu should have been the double battle in Gen 9 using Tatsugiri and Dondozo. Would have been way more fitting than the Titan encounter we got. Wulfric in his XY Gym battle has an Abomasnow that only knows 3 moves. I think the most interesting fact about Clay is that his family has the tradition of passing down the hat that he wears (or the overall design of it as Lian's hat in Legends Arceus is ever so slightly different in artwork but it's a bit bigger in the game). If it's indeed the same hat, it's the only object that survived the Hisuian time period, possibly making it longer lasting than the original design of the pokeball.
Not saying I'd want the stat boosts we get in double battle gym leaders but at least it'd thematically make sense since Dozo gets a plus two boost to all their stats.
1:48 There is another fun fact about this mispelling. Giovanni is meant to be some sort of rappresentation of the Italian mafia; well, his mispelled version, "Giovani", is the plural for "young" in italian.
The thing I remember most about Burgh is that, while everyone else’s gym badge gives some sort of deep or inspiring quote, his is just “Use Bug-Type Pokémon!”
Another fact, maybe not fun idk, about Raihan is that the guy’s well over 2m tall (like 7ft) lmao if you know it makes sense why he towers over the player in the conversation after the battle and why his hand is like thrice as big but still lmao he also has an undercut and dreads which would be much more visible without his damn hat lmao. i hate his hat with a passion.
11:19 I've always guessed that Gordie's name comes from Geordie. Galar is of course based on Britain and a Geordie is a name for some from Newcastle in the North East of England. Circhester is in the North East of Galar. Circhester is similar to real town in the North East called Chester-le-Street. Finally, Gordie has black and white on his clothes, that look a bit like stripes. The football team Newcastle United are sometimes called the Geordies and wear black and white striped shirts.
Another fact for Bea and Allister is that they are the highest leveled fourth gym leaders, with their aces being Level 36. The next highest is Ramos and LGPE Erika with their aces being Level 34.
The most interesting thing about Clay is that he probably drives a Ford F150 while listening to Tigeres del Norte and dealing with incompetent workers at his Ranch.
3:29 - The reason that his Pokémon are lower levelled than Jasmine's is possibly due to the fact that you can defeat Pryce before taking on Chuck and my avatar.
Fun fact about Raihan: He's NOT the first Gym Leader to specialize in a weather condition. That belongs to Justy from Colosseum, who uses a Sandstorm team
iirc the reason Cilan, Chili and Cress don't appear at N's castle is because by the time they heard about what was going on, everything was basically over anyway, and they'd have never been able to arrive to do anything even if they had left immediately
9:13 also adding in that Korrina is one of a few gym leaders/kahunas that get more than one battle theme in a game series. The others being Hala and Olivia in the sun and moon games, the gym leaders you battle in the champions cup in Sw/Sh and Larry in Gen 9. Also on Valerie's outfit if you convert Pokedollar which is comparable to yen. From yen to usd as of this comment, Valerie's outfit costs over $14K
Another fact about Sabrina which is related to the games instead of the manga: She's a movie star, appearing in one of the later Pokestar Studios films. Brycen is one as well, but a lot more players know that since he plays the villain of the only film which is mandatory to complete in order to progress.
Could be wrong but I'm pretty sure there's an option to fight two gym leaders when you're able to fight Pryce, which means there isn't a "previous" gym battle because they're supposed to be even.
Since I have Pokémon Masters EX and have also played Pokémon X before, it’s hard for me to forgot the Gen 6 gym leaders. They’re: Viola Grant Korrina Ramos Clemont Valerie Olympia Wulfric
I think one for Clay is that he is the second ground type gym leader. With Giovanni being the 1st in gen one, that's 3 generations without a new gym leader for a specified type which I believe is the longest gap for such a thing.
•Flying has more with Skyla in Gen 5 and then Gens 6, 7, 8, and 9 not having a Flying gym leader. •Normal is tied with Ground with the gap between Lenora/Cheren in Gen 5 and Larry in Gen 9. •Ghost with the gap between Fantina in Gen 4 and Allister in Gen 8 unless you count Trial Captains as Gym Leaders then you have Acerola in Gen 7. •Steel also has more than Flying with the gap between Byron in Gen 4 and no Steel Gym Leader since then. •most of these break if you start including Elite 4 and type specialists and such into the mix as well.
As someone who has always hated Clay for some inexplicable reason the fact that you couldn't find anything interesting about him makes me laugh so hard.
Am I miss remembering egg moves from back then? Janine's Crobat is 100% legit. You just breed one move into the Zubat before the other. The Zubat will pass down any egg moves it already knows.
I had the same thought, but I think some of them may actually be illegal given their generation. Apparently before gen 6 the mother couldn't pass on egg moves, only the father. So you could get the first move onto a baby Zubat, but if the baby was female it wouldn't be able to contribute that new move to its offspring, and if it was male you wouldn't be able to get the second move onto its offspring. Some of the "illegal" pokemon should be possible with Smeargle though, like Chuck's Sandslash.
Some stuff might actually be possible, you can have 2 egg moves on a mon, multiple breeding does this (done this myself on many occasions). And some evolved forms can be encountered at lower level in the wild, eg a lvl 9 Pidgeotto in Red and blue for example.
The dub for the Ash versus Roxie episode came out a week before Black 2 and White 2 had released in the states. While the original release had come out nine days before the games did in Japan. So, it's likely this was used as promotional material for both countries. Seeing as the episode had come out in a similar timeframe to the games for both places. America being a six-day difference while Japan had a nine-day difference instead. Another fun fact I suppose. 👍
I think Janine's crobat is only illegal specifically in gen 5 (and before) because after gen 5 both parents can give on egg moves as opposed to only the father.
12:10 For Katy's apron logo, the one shown in the game was a mistake by the team working on her model since in the character sheet they release, you can clearly see the design on her and a close up view 🤗
Fun fact about Grusha- his knitted scarf is goddamn IMPOSSIBLE unless joining together multiple knit sections. The ends are clearly tubes knit in the round and then laid flat, with how the little v shapes are going inward from the edge. But the portion thats wrapped around his head looks to have been knitted long and flat, and then had top and bottom joined into one long tube. The v shapes that were going up and down the pink/blue stripes are now going SIDEWAYS across the scarf and theres no *easy way* to DO that while knitting, not if you want a seamless result! That scarf had to be knit completely, CUT IN HALF and then had the middle section added because???? The pokeball at the end is plausible tho. Just a bit of fiddling with stranded knitting and it could be done.
I think his scharf is just 3 stripe going one direction but it still takes like 3 portions but they just look sideways around his neck becouse how he wears it. Its still difficult but yeah not so hard
One thing with GLs having "illegal" Pokémon, I would reason that in the Pokémon world, league members are exempt from this restriction and can use Pokémon that know unusual moves or are underleveled and evolved

@@primrosevale1995 I'm aware. I'm just saying maybe word it differently next time, cause it did come across as correcting rather than information giving.
Kim Jung Un?
Or maybe Allister’s ambidextrous?
@@dreamfirefight9456 that would be really cool

re: Clay
I think the fact that he's supposed to be Japanese is pretty interesting. I always saw him as a cliched Texan man but apparently he's based on a character archetype of a Japanese businessman striking it rich in the States
Imagine if Chili, Cilan and Cress had been a triple or Rotation Battle?
Yeah, that's a missed opportunity.
Absolutely AMAZED that they didn't
Since it's the first gym it makes sense that they aren't, but it could have been fun as an optional challenge.
That would’ve been really good in B2W2 when they aren’t the first gym leader anymore
You are correct, he is wrong
So the main point to keep from this video is that a lot of gym leaders are hacking in illegal Pokémon.
I think we all know what the fact about Lance would be if he made a video on facts about the champions
7:08 The reason they didn’t show up is because Bianca was late to inform them so it was over by the time they were able to get there
7:55 He’s one of, if not, the only gym leaders to not give you a tm right after you beat him, he instead gives it to you after he clears the entrance to chargestone cave. I could be wrong about him being the only one to do it, but I don’t remember if any others did that

Larry's use of the flying type in his elite four battle is also a subtle reference to his dream of "flying" off a building.
Cheren fact, he’s the only 1st Gym Leader in a region who has a neutral type to any starter you might choose.
Every other 1st leader, depending on who you choose, has a potential advantage or disadvantage against your starter Pokémon’s type.

@@raikaria3090 You are technically correct. The best kind of correct
Falkner’s type specialty isn’t weak to any of the starter types. Flying might not be neutral against all of them, but it’s not weak to any of them either. However, the player would be at a type disadvantage if they chose Chikorita since grass is strong against flying.
I always thought Gordie had his name based on the word "gourd," like a pumpkin, just as Melony would be based on "melon" as in watermelon.

Could we get "1 Fact about every Elite Four Member in Pokémon" Next?
1:48 There is another fun fact about this mispelling.
Giovanni is meant to be some sort of rappresentation of the Italian mafia; well, his mispelled version, "Giovani", is the plural for "young" in italian.

he wants us to lose
Another fact, maybe not fun idk, about Raihan is that the guy’s well over 2m tall (like 7ft) lmao if you know it makes sense why he towers over the player in the conversation after the battle and why his hand is like thrice as big but still lmao
he also has an undercut and dreads which would be much more visible without his damn hat lmao. i hate his hat with a passion.

Expanding on the fun fact about Marlon, his VA, Ted Lewis, also voiced King Dedede in the English dub of Kirby Right Back At Ya
Valerie, according to Masters, also makes all her own clothing. So she didn't pay 2 million for it, she sells it for 2 million.
Gordie’s name is actually a pun on “gourd” to match his mother, MELONy. They’re both named after melons in Japanese too.
I'm expecting the Classic Aura Troll to activate on Larry
The most interesting thing about Clay is that he probably drives a Ford F150 while listening to Tigeres del Norte and dealing with incompetent workers at his Ranch.
12:52 The rest of the skeleton is on Ryme's back xD.
Another fun fact is Gordie has 4 siblings which include 3 brothers and 1 sister

If only it was a fact that all other seven gym leaders in Generation 6 had mega evolution. Hopefully it happens if the future XY remakes is confirmed.
Bad enough the Elite Four in the games don't have the most iconic battle mechanic. Not even in a rematch. So good on the anime.
Maybe save them for the rematch I don't wanna face a lvl 12 Mega Pinsir with a tiny frog on my team
When Iono was revealed I really thought we were going to have a magnemite paldea form

There is dialogue somewhere in Pokemon Masters, which says that Lance based his HGSS outfit off of the Hammerlocke gym uniform.
•most of these break if you start including Elite 4 and type specialists and such into the mix as well.
meanwhile the starter types are the shortest, getting one every gen.

@@rudyhummel1474 One of the most known illegal egg moves Pokémon is Azumarill with Aquajet and Belly Drum. It was illegal before Gen6.

Janine's Crobat was definitely foreshadowing for how egg moves would be taught in Scarlet/Violet. It all comes together now.
Are egg moves taught via orgy now?
Some stuff might actually be possible, you can have 2 egg moves on a mon, multiple breeding does this (done this myself on many occasions). And some evolved forms can be encountered at lower level in the wild, eg a lvl 9 Pidgeotto in Red and blue for example.
3:00 He could have used the Time Machine to send it to his past self, taught the TM move, and traded it back.

Also fun fact about Whitney: she introduced a lot of people to sadism
I thought the origin for Gordie's name was just "gourd", you know, since his mom Melony is pretty obviously deriving her name from "melon"
It is. Almost every important character in Pokémon is named after some type of plant.
That makes a lot of botanical semse as Melony is names "Melon" in Japan and melons are part of the gourd family
resisting the urge to make the super obvious joke
Informative vid, and was really cool overall!!
Ok Chat, we need a new fan theory about how Norman is the dad of Every MC
I think Janine's crobat is only illegal specifically in gen 5 (and before) because after gen 5 both parents can give on egg moves as opposed to only the father.
The pryce being lower leveled then Jasmine is because you can choose to either fight him or Chuck as your 5th gym.
8:01 we must stay focused everybody we must
12:10 For Katy's apron logo, the one shown in the game was a mistake by the team working on her model since in the character sheet they release, you can clearly see the design on her and a close up view 🤗
The logo design also doesn't appear on the pokemon cards, sadly 😢
That probably wasn’t a mistake. They most likely decided to change the design sometime during development.
