At last picked up a bottle of this, and all I can say is... wow! Amazing dram. Smooth with just a little bit of bite, soft nuttiness, and tons of sherry influence! Looks gorgeous in the class to boot. This will definitely be a permanent fixture on my bar form now on.
Yay, my absolute favourite whiskies of all time. But to be honest, lately I'm doubting since I've tasted the 8y Glendronach. Incredible taste for an 8y old and maybe even more complex than this 12! Ever tried it? Would be great to see it get tasted!
Good evening everyone ! I was always wondering why Glendronach's products always go quickly. The answer is simple. It's simply fantastic ! Nothing comes close to this wonderful product bellow $100 Canadian. With the exception of the Triple Wood which is the best in this price range , this twelve years old is right up there with it. Excellent review on a great Scotch !
I got 3 bottles of Glendronach 18 all 3 bottled in 2017 and it is one of the most amazing whiskeys I tried. I have tried Macallan 18 a lot of years back and my memory might be lying to me but this whiskey is better. I will probably buy another bottle or two this year. Stock up or at least get one bottle to try it before it's gone next year, because the new one will take several years to come out and will not be the same. Glendronach and Glengoyne are really the hidden gems in the whiskey communities, but they have grown very popular now, get them while you can.
I have a bottle, for it's price, it's an amazing 12 year old Sherried monster. Unnecessarily well made, natural colour and non-chillfiltered. If it was at 46% ABV, it would have been unbeatable in intrinsic quality for its price!! Best drank in summer time; after dinner, it's like liquid fruits dessert lol!
I've got one bottled in 2014 and another one bottled in 2016 (both 43% ABV), and side by side the 2014 version is much more sherried, feels almost like a sherry fortified to 43%. It took me a while to come to terms with the Glendronach 12 not being the sherry monster as I had come to know it, but I gotta admit I'm now enjoying the 2016 version just as much, it's just different. The less extreme sherry influence lets the other aromas shine through more, and that's not a bad thing at all.
I remember in an older review, Horst wasn't too fond of the Glendronach 12 due to there being a disconnect between the nose and the wood dominated palate. This put me off finding a bottle of it, but in this one he seems to like it. Has there been any change to the bottling since then?
Hello, I'm Johnny 🙂. I have been tormented by one question for several years 🙂maybe you know 🙂. We all know that the Glendronach distillery was closed from 1995 until 2002, and after opening they had a shortage of young spirits. I know that you were visiting the legendary Billy Walker, did you ask him what and what year of alcohol he poured into bottles, for example, in the 12-year-old Glendronach, the original in 2012/2013?
Mr. Horst, was this Glendronach you tasted already put together by Rachel Barrie or it was yet put together by Billy Walker? Read some comments stating that the quality dropped since Billy Walker left the distillery, and was wondering what was your opinion on this. Thanks! And thanks for the knowledge you share here so frequently
The best whisky I;ve ever tasted besides Macallan 12, Johnnie Walker 15, 18, 21, Ble Labelm Arbelour 18, Glenfarclas 18 etc., Ballantines 17 is no. 2 on my list.
not true dude below the 100 you need to try the glenmorganie 18 extremley rare or tomatin 18 both bottles are below 100 en better then the glendronach 12 bud if you look at the price this is better this is below 50 en the tomatin 18 en the glenmoraganie 18 are both close to 100 bud they are 18 years old of age or the knockando 21 years old is olso better bud olso close to 100
Think 2019 is the last year before the 18 stops getting older and resets back to actually 18 years old. The 21 Parliment has a few years left to get older still.
It's $93AUD (58 Euro) here, which is absurdly expensive. I really want to try it because it's so well reviewed, but it's way into the 15 year old price range.
Glendronach 12 . NO COLOR added., bottled at %43 ABV. and matured in Sherry cask!!! Very quality, that is iwhy t costs more than other 12 yrs. Scotch, but it well worth . Enjoy.
Someone explain to these guys that a pear (pe(ə)r) is a fruit, but a pier (pi(ə)r) is a Seebrücke in German. So the "notes of Seebrücke in whisky" sounds a bit crazy )))
yes one of the best 12 years old sigle malt whiskey yes so good en nicley priced you cant go wrong there are a couple of 12 years old better bud slightly better bud you pay 50 euro more vor them the bottle macallan 12 years old double barrrel or the triple are better from macallan yes bud you pay 40 euro more the bottle

This is a beautiful dram. It's been consistent from bottle to bottle and the morning after smell of the glass is like a candy store for adults.
Full maturation in Sherry, not finished. 🙂 Thanks for the review.
instablaster...
This is my best value whiskey. You can’t beat the quality for the price point.
I think Cleynlish 14 is a little better than this, but still a good dram
GlenDronach 12 is my current favorite. Delicious and affordable.
Agreed. My top 3 12s are Yamazaki, Highland Park and Glendronach.
My favorite whisky channel. You guy are the best and so informative! thank you for this channel!
I feel like I am going to get a Skyrim quest from one of these guys.
I'm booting up skyrim and now watching this because I got a bottle of it for a friend. Your comment has me dying 🤣 perfect timing
Just re-installed Skyrim after reading your comment. Had a good laugh though 🤣

Mine too, very good whiskey for the money, incredible subtle taste and sweet also.

I enjoyed your review! This is a firm favourite here at the Whisky Couch in South Africa. Cheers 😋🥃!!

I have 2 from January 2016...incredible..
Found 3 liters of this 12 from March 2016 in the last month...super

I prefer the GD12 over Macallan 12. Really great flavor!!!
I tried them head to head..
Like them both...But, a liter is $57 and the Mac is $73...
Great review. This is one of my favorites. Won't break the bank too!
really good for 12 y indeed compared to the price.
just ordered this one after a sample
A whisky that punches above its weight in the price range. A must have for any whisky aficionado.
Look forward to trying this.

Maybe a bad batch. Or a cask that gave too much wood influence. What might happen with european wood sherrt casks
Back then it was 40abv now is 43
Me gusta mucho este whisky! Excelente video :) Muchas gracias por la información!
Hi!
Glendronarch 12 or Glen Grant 12 which would you suggest?

My favourite whiskey
Nicely done good review

i am trying this one this weekend
The best whisky I;ve ever tasted besides Macallan 12, Johnnie Walker 15, 18, 21, Ble Labelm Arbelour 18, Glenfarclas 18 etc., Ballantines 17 is no. 2 on my list.
Of all the single malts under $100, this is my favorite. Just perfect

price en quality are very good vor this one
60€ here in Finland. Planning to buy a bottle.
Does anyone know the name of the watch he is wearing? Thanks.
Anyone know how this compares to the Glendronach Forgue?
The 12 year is excellent, as are the older aged offerings. Lovely glasses. Where do we find them.
The glasses are custom made for Whisky.com and can be bought of their website and will be shipped inside Germany only
Good review educational fun sounds tasty
Viva glendronach 🚀🔝
One of my favorites! By the way, have you heard if the 18 yo or 21 yo has been released yet for 2019?
Love this whisky...better tasting and better value compared with the Macallan
I fully agree
Think 2019 is the last year before the 18 stops getting older and resets back to actually 18 years old. The 21 Parliment has a few years left to get older still.
This is currently around the same price it was 5 Years ago!😁😁😁😁😁🥃
Great video again. Will you be reviewing Highland park twisted tattoo soon? Looking forward to see if it’s worth buying. Many thanks Gary.
This or Macallan 12 Sherry Oak?
I would take the Macallan 12 Triple Cask (Fine Oak) over this.
Glendronach for me, it feels a lot more full bodied
Rafael 9013 They both are good. I prefer this one..
Get this one. Macallan is expensive and only 40% and is chill filtered. This one is is NCF and 43%. Better bang for ur buck!
@@scottclarke1350 I could not agree more! Macallan 2x Oak feels watery! This one is more full impact and spicy-sweet!
This is very similar to Macallan 12 Double Oak, in my opinion. 20$ cheaper too.
I think this is better than Macallan
It's $93AUD (58 Euro) here, which is absurdly expensive. I really want to try it because it's so well reviewed, but it's way into the 15 year old price range.
Jake Surname where are you finding Glendronach 15 in Aus for $90?
This or aberlour 12?
asrao316 Definitely this one
Glendronach 12 . NO COLOR added., bottled at %43 ABV. and matured in Sherry cask!!! Very quality, that is iwhy t costs more than other 12 yrs. Scotch, but it well worth . Enjoy.
That really thin pour really bothers me!

We know what they mean though.
For us this bottle is $70 🔪❤️
yes one of the best 12 years old sigle malt whiskey yes so good en nicley priced you cant go wrong there are a couple of 12 years old better bud slightly better bud you pay 50 euro more vor them the bottle macallan 12 years old double barrrel or the triple are better from macallan yes bud you pay 40 euro more the bottle
''Peers'' hahaha
Too confectionary for me
Ben, please stop swishing your whisky while your father is speaking. It's very impolite.
