MILAN, ITALY - Welcome to Milan, in northern Italy, where you can find some delicious Lombardy food. From osso buco to risotto and fried veal cutlets, get ready for some extremely tasty food when you’re in Milan.
One of the Milan dishes you have to try is cotoletta alla milanese, a veal rib flattened into a cutlet, breaded, and fried in butter. There are many variations, and sizes, and I didn’t want to leave Milan without trying a supersized version - Cotoletta orecchio di elefante - known as an elephant ear cutlet!
I headed to a real proper local Milanese restaurant. It was friendly, but a fast paced environment. I arrived quite early before the lunch rush, but by the time we left, it was packed and people were waiting for our table.
Overall, I would say the food was excellent, I loved the pasta, the osso buco with risotto, and the giant elephant ear Milan cutlet.

Everything looks delicious ! That salad was so fresh!
We (Argentinians) have that "Milanese". When it's made with chicken it's called "Suprema", our version is thicker. And you can ask for "Suprema a la Napolitana" this version is like Pizza. It's like an upgraded version showed in the video. This meal is Messi's favorite.
In italy food is fresh and simple. When the ingredients are fresh you don't need a lot of spieces or dipping sauces.
thats not true at all lol but okay.
That is absolutely true buddy
He doesn't mukbang, he just eats as a journalist and a gourmand...🎩🤔👍
As always great video Mark. Thank you for sharing your experiences as you travel.
Looks amazing Mark, that mixed salad and stuffed bread was awesome and the costoletta looked so yum.
Mmmm lettuce with a small tomatoe and some shaved carrots? Fancy
@@89. if u want proper salads, u go to the balkans
The Italian food tour has been my absolute favorite so far and ive been watching for years!! ❤❤❤
Your life sounds sad
@@borisbalkan707 😁
@@borisbalkan707 To criticize someone you don't know is sadder.
@@johnnytx45 Is that why your mum sends me Christmas cards every year?
Only mark wiens makes face expressions and the “mmmmm” sounds when eating a regular plain salad 🤣🤣🤣
Excited to be watching this video!
I thought that veal was like a cracker bread at first, then when you said veal, my mind was blown. That looked absolutely delicious! 😋
@asshatslovejohnnydeppjohnn8377 what does Kate Moss have to do with veal? And I like your name.😂
It looks so delicious. That salad was so fresh.🌹🌹🇧🇩🇧🇩
Mmm everything looks so delicious 😋
I watched your earlier content you weren't as jolly but your description were way better. You are describing food for people who may never be these places tell us how it taste to someone who have no taste buds so we can experience food thru you ❤
Hi Mark 👋 i love to watch your video's...from Philippines ❤❤
Awesome video Mark! 😊
happy eating new classical and exotic food " imagine elephant ear" ... amazing
Hello from northern Michigan, USA! 💜
i love this!
Mark, you know how to make us hungry!
While I was watching this video, I reflected and thought that there is nothing stranger than watching people while they eat. In real life, in a restaurant, we would hardly look into the face of someone who is eating at another table. On UA-cam, however, a lot of people do it.
That "Elephant Ear" looked sooo delicious.
Hi mark!
Loving your videos!
Great guy, honest reviews and super cute family!
Would be great, if you could review SONEVA KIRI sometime, the perspective of someone, who knows their food and lives in Thailand, would be very informative!
Always a happy go to for me.
My beautiful hometown... ❤
That's amazing, glad you had a blast in Italy. If you fancy a fried stake challenge then head to Trattoria Gianni in Gorizia and order a Lubianska. The restaurant is located between the town of Udine and Trieste next to the Slovenian border.
Letting it all hang out!
We have pork tenderloin elephant ears in Midwest USA. Mostly Iowa and illinois. There is a competition every year to see who makes the best ones.
Hey Mark! Stop🛑 Teasing us!😂
It’s a lot of them!
It looks so delicious🍽
YUM!
I made that for breakfast this morning. I preferred it without the lemon. Now I want another.
I make these on a large (26 inch) India Tawa in the garden in the summer. It is perfect for cooking these wonderful creations.
Mark ,Thank you for letting travel with you...I would love for you to taste some Jamaican for here in ocala, florida at Little Bickle...you will not regret it... florida , would love to have you....😊
GREETINGS FROM ST.LOUIS , MISSOURI U.S.A 🇺🇸 ❤ 🌶🌶🌶
The Cotoletta is basically an Italian Schnitzel. My dad likes having a couple of lemon slices with his as well 😊
Austrian schnitzel was probably based over the cotoletta alla milanese.
@@Cignallo1789 I'm not starting a debate with you. No one knows which came first. But I know Schnitzel and have not seen Cotoletta before this video, so it reminds me of Schnitzel, just like if I had seen Cotoletta before Schnitzel, then I would have said it with them reversed
@@RedUmbraNZ The truth is there's a debate still goes on about its origin. The only certain thing is veal and butter are typical of Mitteleuropa cuisine, which is included Austria and north of Italy.
@@PakoVero but I'm not debating it, I have known Schnitzel all my life and not Cotoletta so I compared it to Schnitzel. Just like if I had only known Cotoletta and watched a Schnitzel video, I would have said oh it is basically an Cotoletta
@@PakoVero plus I read about the debate online and was like yeah my comment is going to start something, even if I don't mean it that way. I have thought about removing it
definitely very delicious 🤭
Chicken fried steak, all the food looks really good.
OH WOW
This "elephant ear" piece of meat looks really amazing, because its so thin. I think I would enjoy it with lemon, to make it a bit lighter, and only with a salad on the side (so without the pasta, the risotto and the ossobuco).
Wow.
On the video in a minute.
Hi Mark, I absolutely love your videos, not sure if you're aware but there are a few dead pixels on the camera that you use for face shots. Very hard to see on the phone but shone bright like the sun on a big tv. Awesome videos , keep em coming.
Mark when do you sleep 😂. Travel, eat and repeat 🎉
Mark, you are correct that the sauce on the osso bucco is mostly carrot and onion. Called sofrito in Italian
3:27 That cutlet is enough for an entire family ! It's a bit like those family-sized pizzas.
Mark, come to Bulgaria to try something you won't try anywhere else in the world, you will be amazed. Don't listen to what they tell you about Bulgaria, here is paradise, and that's not trivial. I'm from Bulgaria, come here, I will be happy to see you :))))))))
The only good things of bulgaria are the huge d.... S
😋😋😋
Huge, thought it was really an elephant ear 😮 . . . for a second. Glad it's not even if I don't like veal😂😂 Olives in bread, pasta look so good!! "Friendly, local" best combo 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Now that's a pork chop sandwich, Mark...🎩🤭🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍
Pure Fashion
That's sofrito, Mark. Carrots, celery, etc. in the sauce base.
Terbaik Mark !
Great video Mark, togheter with me if you visit Vietnamese street food
Sedapnya 😊
Tranquilli in Italia si mangia bene e non per essere offensivo ma la cucina italiana è il Top del saper mangiare.
Well that sounds delicious. I live in the United States of America and I am having a chicken salad sandwich and half of a leftover dominos pizza for dinner tonight. And some Heath English Toffee bars for dessert. Thanks for sharing...
As thin as an italian "cotoletta alla milanese" should be... ❤
I love Little Italy
Little Italy has nothing to do with Italy, maybe a little bit with south Italy in the past but not anymore.
nice
This is the goal i will get my UA-cam channel too!
Hi mark, come again in sri lanka 🇱🇰
From Massachusetts
❤❤❤❤
I believe WienerSchnitzel has its origins in Milan
Where is Ming ? Did you Share ?😮
I thought real elephant ear for a second 😅
I wish i would record a video tasting food with you✨️✨️✨️✨️🙏🙏
Phew! Lucky it isn't an elephants ear? haha!
lol, you’re risking thai resident card with that video title
Milano may have invented it, but Vienna has perfected it. (Wiener Schnitzel)
Hello Mark. I really appreciate that you came to Italy to taste our Italian Food. But please: you can not put that “mandolino music” on a video dedicated to Milan!
Why did I think it was an actual elephant ear?
Strange that you thought something like that. Here we are in Italy, we are not in India or Africa.
@@aris1956it's not strange. Ever heard of import? Do you think mangoes grow every where around the world?
@@apara2005 Leaving import aside, it is hard to imagine that people in Italy eat elephant ears.
Hello, Mark, I think that orange sauce on the ossobuco is pumpkin based. I also travel for food especially in Asia, love your videos, you have the best job in the world I'm so jealous!
I travel for food too. Mark and me are better than you at it
@@89. You're not.
I don't think you could ever tell anyone they have bad food
With some ketchup yummy
Where is your lobster video in Las Vegas !
😊
Bonza mark living the drean😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
compound butter with that garlic or parsley. you missed out!
So it’s a bone-in schnitzel 😂😂😂
Yes, Austria stolen our recipe and made schnitzel. But not so tasty like our cotoletta
No, the schnitzel is a bonless cotoletta.
@@baroncicala1934 no, cotoletta is with veal no pork and is deep fried butter
@@SandBoy408 cotoletta can be with pork too.
@@baroncicala1934 cotoletta is just with veal. But if u want you can make with pork or chicken. Just change the name from Cotoletta alla milanese to cotoletta di pollo or cotoletta di maiale
Hey everyone it’s Long Neck I’m in Milan Italy. 😂
Mark you should go to the Cook Islands I’ve never been but I’ve seen pictures of it it looks amazing I’m sure they have amazing food
Hi Brother is there any halal restaurant in Milan. We are planning to visit Milan. Let me know please Thanks 😊
👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Next time go to “La Pobbia” if you want a proper costoletta
Im so glad it wasnt a real elephant ear. I was like, since when people eat elephants 🐘 😂. Looms delicious!
50s Napolitan-sicilian style music as intro for Milan video!!! 🙈🙈🙈hey mate you didn't understand Italy yet despite of your journeys across the country 😂
Elephant ear? dropping this sub
Are you for real?
Responsible eating is cruelty free and low carbon footprint in moderation. But heath insurance companies love you 😂
The side dish wasnt ossobuco it was polenta
No they not here with me. I’m sure.
Was are you always geeked out your mind. Meth? It would explain the a lot.
🏴👍
Wiener schnitzel fk yeah lemon salt pepper the end
E vitello la cotoletta se te la fatta con il pollo mi viene da dirti di non andare più 😂😂 la cotoletta viene fatta in un modo diverso...poi il risotto alla milanese va accanto l'osso buco😅😅😅
That's bigger than your son...Mark!🎩🤭🤣🤣🤣🤣
i still love chinese food
You eat the salad at the end of the meal.
