Bro. I've listened to Rush for decades. I regularly watch several music reaction channels cause I just like watching people discover good music. I've seen several Tom Sawyer reaction videos. But yours was the FIRST time I ever caught that lyric "The changes aren't permanent. The change is". I always thought he was singing "Thaaa changes!" but you immediately identified the fact that he's actually singing "The change is". Bro. I've been singing it wrong and missing the wisdom for years. You immediately made me a fan of your channel. Sooo much respect.
I was lucky enough to see Rush live before Neil Peart passed away. I grew up listening to Rush. They inspired me to pick up a pair of sticks and play drums. 8 years later it got me playing in an orchestra touring Europe. Awesome opportunity!
Saw them two years in a row in the great rock city Seattle.. in like 80' and 81' or 82 and 83 something like that. Same year permanent waves came out and then this Moving Pics album. Was incredible rock wise.. no gimmicks just 2 hours of rock. One of the years was in the 'pit' maybe 30 feet away. Neil Peart was definitely the man, but same could be said about Lifesongs guitar work or obviously Geddy. Feel fortunate indeed to have seen them.
Same, but I picked up the bass because of Geddy. I saw them on their Clockwork Angels tour, and I learned after the fact that Neil already had brain cancer... Best concert ever.
Saw them in Feb 1979 Indianapolis one of best shows I've been too. Incredible. Those were the days that drinking beer and stronger and smoking reefer was legal in concert venues. Police turned a blind eye. The whole arena was filled with smoke so thick you could cut it with a knife. Great times.
Mark Twain, an American satirist of the 19th century, wrote "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer", a bunch of vignettes about a young scamp growing up on the Mississippi. Lots of fun. He then wrote a sequel, a full length novel called "Huckleberry Finn", which exposes racism, and is often banned because people think it is racist, not realizing that Twain is exposing racism
The word “ni**er” is used frequently in the book, so of course, people take it out of context. It was controversial even back in the early 1990s when I read it in high school. Groups were trying to get the book banned. As if high school kids can’t be told, “This is what life and language were like in the mid 1800s. You’re going to read some words you won’t like.” Great reaction, by the way. I love the lyrics as well. I have always wondered if “and the space he invades he gets by on you” is a reference to the video game Space Invaders. The song was released in 1981, which would put it in the right time frame.
@@matthewhetzler4912 Instead of learning about different times and cultures, even as little back as the 80s, we find all fault, even a faux outrage, for virtue signalling points on your social media pages. Instead of recognizing how far we've come and changed for the betterment of mankind, let alone our nation. Too many snowflakes (weak people) have a voice of death and destruction. And, not enough hard people (patriots) rising up, but they will if things persist.
Both Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn had adventures rafting on the Mississippi River. They were both known for being clever and intrepid. Tom Sawyer was thought dead at one point and attended and cried at his own funeral. Today's Tom Sawyer rides the day's events - the river - and is heroic in that he is a skeptic who forms his own opinions and rejects propaganda. "His mind is not for rent to any god or government." He specifically rejects appeals to religion and nationalism. Today's hero, however, isn't tied to any one political system or dogma. He changes his thoughts in reaction to the days events, but desperately wants a better world. "Always hopeful yet discontent, he knows changes aren't permanent, but change is." The song divides people into two groups, those who are able to be manipulated and those who aren't. "And what you say about his company is what you say about society." Either you praise free thinkers, or you are afraid of them. We see this in the reaction to the BLM movement, the MeToo movement and others. At heart, though, today's Tom Sawyer is an optimist. "The world is, the world is Love and life are deep even as his eyes are wide." Is he a warrior? The answer is that he is in that he either gets high on you (agrees) or invades your thought bubble coccoon to challenge you: "with the space he invades he gets by on you." Either way, "he gets right onto the friction of the day." The river. So the point of the song is that we can all be heroic if we think for ourselves and together seek a better, more just world.
Great reaction!! Rush is a great band! You will hear the best of drumming, vocals, bass guitar and electric guitar all together! But, on top of all that, there are amazing lyrics! And get this: the DRUMMER is the lyricist!! Check that out!! Awesome.
Dude. Welcome to Rush. Three guys that sound like 10. Saw them in concert in ‘90 - the bassist playing bass, keyboards and pedal organ and singing at the same time. These guys are such innovators and top notch musicians. All three are arguably top 10 ever on their instruments. Bass and drums have been #1 at one time or another.
Do you realize you're listening to the greatest drummer there is, there was, and there ever will be? RUSH ~ Canadian ~ the greatest trio to ever exist in the world of music? The drummer, Neil Peart,(pronounced P-EAR-T)passed away from brain cancer on January 10, 2020, but he will live on forever. He is well-known as the best drummer who ever lived. (Look up Subdivisions - Neil Peart drum cam) Tom Sawyer was a character from Mark Twain's book, "Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn". A classic story about a young boy(10 or 11 years old) who was growing up in poverty, and who skipped school and would run off looking for adventure and fun in everything he did. His mind was his own and he refused to follow "social normalcy". He did things his own way even if it got him into trouble. He was being raised by his Aunt who was a grumpy woman who never spared discipline, yet she loved him in her own powerful way. He lived as if rules were made to break. It's an interesting read and Tom's life was lived in a world where racism between white and black was practiced openly and expected, but Tom loved everyone and his friends all loved Tom. His friends were of all ages and usually from the poor side of town. I strongly recommend you read it with an open mind and gentle heart. It is filled with life lessons we all could learn from and live by. Even though it's considered a "children's book", it is a story for all ages. RUSH tunes that you would really appreciate, I believe are; "Witch Hunt", a lyrically powerful song about social intolerance and injustice, "Manhattan Project", about the ushering in and use of nuclear weapons, "Closer To The Heart", lyrics speak for themselves, "Subdivisions", "Time Stand Still", "Limelight", ahhhh...they are ALL brilliant.

If you like drums, this is your band! The late Neil Peart is the best drummer in Rock history. The bassist, Geddy Lee has won numerous awards for his work on the bass as well as keyboards.
Very good point. Jay, listen back to this more critically listening to the Bass. And, when u do, imagine Geddy Lee playing those bass parts, the keyboards with his feet, and singing at the same time. He would switch the bass/keyboards between hands and feet live. It was really something to see. I saw power windows tour.. That show permanently changed my perception of musical performance itself as an art form.
The dude goin’ off on the drums is the same guy who wrote those great bars.. the Professor Neil Peart. If you don’t know, you should get you some! ✌️☝️☝️✌️
Welcome to Rush. The deep deep deep hole of discovery. Their music and lyrics span so many genres and topics. Something for everyone. Amazing and my favorite band.
More over it’s a story of a boy from the late 19th century who has adventures up and down the Mississippi River. This song is about going with the flow like a river. What’s why the songs narrator is a modern day Tom Sawyer
...and another slips over the edge of the Rush rabbit hole. World-class musicianship, insightful and unusual lyricism...three men making consistently incredible music for four decades. My favorites are (in no particular order) The Spirit of Radio, La Villa Strangiato, Jacob's Ladder, Cygnus X-1 Books 1 and 2, New World Man, Freewill, Limelight, The Trees.
Rush came from neighborhoods no more than an hour from home town. As a Canadian Rush is one of the Iconic bands of our country. The talent they possess on any instrument in the band rivals all the greats in music. Neil Peart was always heald as the greatest drummer in or country and no doubt the world. Rush holds a big part in the Soundtrack of Canada. Besides rockin' out every time I hear a Rush tune... I definitely feel Proud as Candian. I went to this concert in Buffalo, Ny. in the 1980's. I remember the first thing I saw walking into the Buffalo Auditorium was a 100' banner that said, "Tom Sawyer... Mean, Mean Fuckin' Pride."
The drummer wrote almost all of the lyrics. He has written several books, and if you can, catch an interview of him. He is very thoughtful and articulate. Sadly, he passed away January 7th, at 67. Brain cancer. You're a cool dude, and your reactions are spot on. Peace. 🐾
The guy on drums is Neil Peart (pronounced pea-ert). One of the greatest drummers ever. Unfortunately, we lost him to cancer earlier this year. He was your favorite drummer's drummer. People referred to him as the professor. He was also the lyricist for almost all their songs. ... Check out the live Frankford video of his drum solo. Incredible and highly technical. Also, Geddy Lee (singer and bassist) is considered one of the best bass players in the world. Alex lifeson (guitarist) is extremely talented and highly underrated. Just three guys making some of the best progressive rock ever
Neil Peart has often been called "your favorite drummers favorite drummer". He's the GOAT. Great lyricist. Pearts feelings about fame are laid bare in "Limelight".
Rush is my favorite band, Neil Peart is the GOAT !!!! I was fortunate to be able to see The Holy Trinity several times. Four decades of great music. You should check out 2112 , its a masterpiece !!!!
"He knows changes aren't permanent....but change IS." Deep stuff, right? Also, did you catch the changing time signatures? Most don't because the drummer (Neil Peart, RIP) Moves emphasis and down-beat around so you don't feel it. :) Love your reaction! Tom Sawyer is a character in the books by Mark Twain.
There's an old French proverb, cited also in their song "Circumstances" - "Plus ca change, plus-ce la meme chose", or "The more things change, the more they stay the same." It says almost the opposite of this, yet they are not incompatible statements.
Ahhh Rush, pure gold. The thinking man's band. Just 3 people and each of them musical geniuses. Love that you have the lyrics up. Research this band. If drums are your thing, Neil Peart is a master. Never stopped learning till the day he passed. Love your station. StaySafe&Blessings🦋
Tom Sawyer is a novel / turned into series of children's books by Mark Twain. It was written in 1876. It is about the adventures of two young boys. Tom himself. Along with his friend. A former slave ( at least on paper ) that is. As well as Huck Finn. Their adventures are set in the 1840s. Along the banks of the Mississippi River.
My RUSH “Journey”(was my favorite group in 12th grade) goes like this. My brother had 5 Rush albums, Permenant Waves being the latest and then he didn’t follow them. In ‘81, Tom Sawyer arrived, I played Moving Pictures over and over and for the next 12 years they were my favorite group. My top 10. - 10) Roll the bones 9) A farewell to kings 8) Presto 7) 2112 6) Permanent Waves 5) Hold your fire 4) Signals 3) Power Windows 2) Moving Pictures 1) Grace under a Pressure.
If you like the drumming on this song, just wait. Neil Peart (pronounced Peert) wrote a majority of the lyrics as well. His drum solo that most watch is from his Frankfurt concert. It is a history of the drum of various parts of the world & era's of music. He finishes with swing music as a tribute to Buddy Rich who really brought to light the various fusion styles of Jazz, Rock & Swing. Welcome to the rabbit hole. The 3 man band of Rush were together for over 40 years produced 19 studio albums, 11 live albums , 13 video albums, & 11 compilation albums with over 24 gold records and 14 platinum (3 multi-platinum) records. That puts them 3rd in the U.S. over all behind the Beatles & the Rolling Stones. The original drummer , after the first album, could not tour due to illness, Neil joined at that time and you can def see a leap in musicanship of all 3. Geddy plays bass, keyboards & sings. Alex plays guitar, backing vocals & some pedal keyboard. Neil is the true precussionist. Their Live in Rio album (I feel) is one of their better live albums. Enjoy the ride, the lyrics only get more thoughtful and the music more intense and emotional.
You say you like drums, you will be hard pressed to find a better drummer than Rush' Neil Peart (RIP) and to show that just find Neil Peart's famous drum solo Rush Live in Frankfurt Germany. It is...magic and I'm a musician but not a drummer! I can listen and watch that drum solo over and over!
This coming from an over-50s white rocker/drummer who was practically raised on Rush. Thank you for allowing me to hear this song newly again through your ears. Couldn't agree with you more. I'm sure by now you've discovered who Tom Sawyer is, and I'm sure this makes the song even more valuable. And one good line in this song that you might have missed, "What you say about his company is what you say about Society". You know now who his company was.
As a Canadian who grew up on Rush , three songs that a hip hop fan might appreciate lyrically are “Subdivisions” , “Spirit of the Radio” and “Fly By Night” ... 😎👍🏼
I love watching this reaction. It brings me joy. When you say, “Whosever on these drums is going off right now” I always burst out laughing. Not at you but with you. You instantly recognized you were listening to a very special talent. Cheers to you. RIP Neil.
the top two all time drummers in rock history are neal peart and Mitch Mitchell of the jimi hendrix experience. mitchell's jazz influenced drumming beats everyone except peart.

Hip Hop Head has never even heard of Rush, but instantly recognizes the incomparable drumming and prescient lyrics of Neil Peart, as well as Geddy Lee’s terrific bass. I’ve been listening to Rush for 40 years, and the talent and cohesion of Neil, Geddy, and Alex still never fails to amaze me. Great music has an incredible power to open our ears, minds, and hearts to the world. Very insightful and intelligent review my friend. You remind me that we should never stop exploring the world of music!
“On the subject of dedication to a craft, in addition talent, it was, and especially the singing, were so original, so powerful, and so accomplished, that the tragedy of his loss, after making only the one record (though a flood of demos and live recordings was released in his wake), seemed ever more poignant. It was clear to me that Jeff Buckley had been one of the few Great Ones, a one-in-a-billion talent, a true voice of his generation, and at thirty, he had hardly begun. Whatever is left behind in the passing of a rare talent, so much is always lost.” Neil Peart, drummer from Rush
As a life long fan of more than 40 years of the band hearing your commentary on the song shed new light on to it I'd not considered before since I heard it four decades ago. Really refreshing, thank you!
There are a lot of people reacting to Rush these days, it seems, and to be sure, some channels are better than others. We Rush fans generally enjoy seeing people who were previously unaware getting into the music. But what sets your channel apart for me is, one, you are obviously quite knowledgeable about music and the making of music, and two, you are thoughtful about the compositions and the lyrics. Keep the videos coming...and enjoy the band!
Part of the reason the drums sound so clean is that they are played with such precision, even with all the amazing perfectly-placed fills and accents and runs he does... this is like a one-song clinic on rock drumming
Rush....one of the great ones....one of the deep ones....prog rock...complex rhythms, meter changes....sometimes demanding of the listener. Neil Peart the drummer....one of the very best, but in a very different way from Bonham.....Bonham was all power and passion, Peart more technical, jazz based. But I think Bonham crosses over into Peart territory with his drumming on Achilles Last Stand.....power and technique combined. Gobsmacking drums. It’s the most prog of all Zeppelin songs..
I was blessed to see them 4 times, and I'm a big concert goer. There is no equal for a live performance - they were a working band from beginning to end. This is a very worthwhile rabbit hole.
Jay, I’ve been a Rush fan for 40 years and I’m also a Bass player and have been for most of my life. Watching your videos bring me a lot of joy, brother. I also saw your “Roll the Bones” reaction. Not only are you spot on but you get it when many don’t. Keep on bringing the fire! God bless you and thank you.😊🙏🤘

His name is Neil Peart, and he just passed away recently...and if you like that song, I would definitely check out " The Spirit of Radio" as well by them -- you will NOT be disappointed by the drum riffs and fills in there !!
Jay Rah watching your reaction was epic, the meaning to the song is don't sell or rent your mind to one belief, be open minded to change and be positive but discontent, and you actually picked that up from the get, so YOU are the warrior, today's Tom Sawyer they are singing about, well done man, well done ! God bless you.

If you like Drums, you found the right band ... killer lyrics, too .... Neil wrote some deep stuff - - The message .... You can't buy me - - I'm my own person, I do my own thing, and don't think you know me just by looking at the outside - - You might try LaVilla Strangiato .... it showcases their instrumental talent - - a full story with not a single spoken word - -
I didn’t read all the other comments but I can tell you exactly who Tom Sawyer is. He is a composite sketch of Neil and everyone who listens to the the song and has it resonate in their soul. I thought I wanted to be a drummer until I heard this song the day it was released. It changed my life. Consumed me, really. I knew after I heard it I had to play like this guy. Took damn near most of my life but I am damn good at playing along with him and a whole lot of others because of him. 🤘🏻
One of the most famous, maybe the most famous, characters in American literature. But folks can't know everything. Tom Sawyer is a symbol for free thinking and rebellion.
with the number of american schools that banned those two books, you must know why it should actually be surprising that someone under the age of 40 actually _is_ familiar with the 160 year old books. jayrah is my new favorite reaction star.
I had the privilege of visiting the world famous recording studio 3 weeks ago where they recorded 7 of their albums including this song. It's called Le-Studio in Mourn-Heights Montreal. I even stood on the famous raft that Neil had his drums on from the TAMA add. It was an incredible experience to say the least. I have a video on my page of the trip. A portion of the building was set on fire a few years ago after being left abandoned for many years. May top bands have recorded there.
Thank you for showing the appropriate respect for the lyrics .. You should "goggle" Tom Sawyer and later enjoy some of America's Gratest written words.. (read the book) .. I find it interesting how young Black music lovers embrace RUSH .. Back in the day, when the Rolling Stone mag and other narrow-minded music critics publicly (goes without saying) expressed their hate for ProgRock, it was obvious that "music Guru's " were bought and paid for .. You should reed some of the critics .. MTV started its Music invasion.. Without M.Jackson.. He was a Black musician so .. Punk was getting old .. PuddleRock and Bleached HighHairRock came to rule.(SAD) .. But Heavy Rock and ProgRock didn't die. And RUSH made Rock History. In all .. I proud to be a RUSH'r .. And old ..

You’re going to read some words you won’t like.”
Great reaction, by the way.
Perfectly said.
ShariSez1 could you imagine if Blazing Saddles were made and released today? Smh.
"Always hopeful yet discontent, he knows changes aren't permanent, but change is."
The song divides people into two groups, those who are able to be manipulated and those who aren't.
"And what you say about his company is what you say about society." Either you praise free thinkers, or you are afraid of them. We see this in the reaction to the BLM movement, the MeToo movement and others.
At heart, though, today's Tom Sawyer is an optimist.
"The world is, the world is Love and life are deep even as his eyes are wide."
Is he a warrior? The answer is that he is in that he either gets high on you (agrees) or invades your thought bubble coccoon to challenge you: "with the space he invades he gets by on you."
Either way, "he gets right onto the friction of the day." The river.
So the point of the song is that we can all be heroic if we think for ourselves and together seek a better, more just world.
One of Thee best drumers of all time baby!
Not only was Neil and incredible drummer, he wrote all the lyrics!
But not entirely in this case. "Tom Sawyer" was adapted by Neil from a poem by Pye Dubois called "Louis the Lawyer"
Canada lost a gem. Fortunately, his legacy lives on.
Mikko Kivisto I believe he had a friendship with Pye through the Max Webster band, which Rush did collaborate with
Len Martin
Canada?
The World, bro.
As mentioned, you gotta check out his drum solo in Frankfurt. That's where you'll see just how crazy good he was.
Yes Neil Peart was their drummer and lyricist. RIP Professor!!!!!!!!!
Neil Peart, your favorite drummer's favorite drummer🙂
Great, thoughtful reaction. I enjoyed and appreciated this video, thanks man!
Great reaction!! Rush is a great band! You will hear the best of drumming, vocals, bass guitar and electric guitar all together! But, on top of all that, there are amazing lyrics! And get this: the DRUMMER is the lyricist!! Check that out!! Awesome.
By the way. So glad to see an intelligent reactor! Nice job.
(Look up Subdivisions - Neil Peart drum cam)
Tom Sawyer was a character from Mark Twain's book, "Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn".
They have so many bars like that in so many songs...check out The Spirit of Radio off their Permanent Waves album.
I second the motion! Great review.
and from same album, Freewill - "If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice"
And hold onto something solid...
Every Rush fan is like "yes, he's paying attention to the lyrics!"
The drummer, Neil Peart, just died a few of months ago. He also wrote the majority of the songs for the group.
Tom Sawyer was a character in Mark Twain's Huckleberry Finn book.
BTW: RUSH is 4 ALL Humans❗❗💜💜💜
Thought the name sounded familiar lol that book is a trip
More over it’s a story of a boy from the late 19th century who has adventures up and down the Mississippi River. This song is about going with the flow like a river. What’s why the songs narrator is a modern day Tom Sawyer
The first book is called "Tom Sawyer." The sequel is "Huckleberry Finn."
He's also a modern day warrior with mean mean stride.
@@peterhineinlegen4672 and he gets high on you.
...and another slips over the edge of the Rush rabbit hole.
“Neal Peart is your favorite drummer’s favorite drummer”- Dave Grohl
Rush came from neighborhoods no more than an hour from home town. As a Canadian Rush is one of the Iconic bands of our country.
The talent they possess on any instrument in the band rivals all the greats in music.
Neil Peart was always heald as the greatest drummer in or country and no doubt the world.
Rush holds a big part in the Soundtrack of Canada.
Besides rockin' out every time I hear a Rush tune... I definitely feel Proud as Candian.
I went to this concert in Buffalo, Ny. in the 1980's. I remember the first thing I saw walking into the Buffalo Auditorium was a 100' banner that said,
"Tom Sawyer...
Peace. 🐾
Good reaction! Three of the best musicians you will ever hear in rock. The drummer also wrote most of the lyrics for the band.
As a 51 year old white woman, you warm my cold heart. Senior trip '87 was Rush!!!!!
Appreciated hearing what you had to say about the lyrics. ✌🏼
That's why they called him professor. Best drummer ever. Neil Pert
Neil Peart has often been called "your favorite drummers favorite drummer". He's the GOAT. Great lyricist. Pearts feelings about fame are laid bare in "Limelight".
"There is more to this than just being a fire song."
Poetry. Those words that speak to your soul. That's called poetry.
Rush is my favorite band, Neil Peart is the GOAT !!!! I was fortunate to be able to see The Holy Trinity several times. Four decades of great music. You should check out 2112 , its a masterpiece !!!!
"man whoever on these drums is going off right now" I laughed out loud, yeah Sir, Neil Peart is truly an angel living among us.
the drummer in Neil Peart is one of the top 5 drummers in Rock and by many the GOAT. he is the main lyricist also
Great video and analysis. I love Rush. My parents grew up on them and so I heard them played a lot around the house. Amazing band!
What an insightful, well-said analysis - thank you!!
Appreciate ya watchin
They're on the list dawg appreciate you watchin
Don't forget "Roll the Bones"! I've GOTTA believe a hip hop afficiniado would LOVE it! 😁
The spirit of radio
Just think it's only 3 guys making all this greatness I knew you would like the drums next should be spirit of the raido
Three friends who liked to play music together :) Nice reaction! Peace!
Widely considered to be the greatest rock drummer ever, Neil Peart was also Rush’s primary lyricist!
I love watching this reaction. It brings me joy. When you say, “Whosever on these drums is going off right now” I always burst out laughing. Not at you but with you. You instantly recognized you were listening to a very special talent. Cheers to you. RIP Neil.
The singer, bassist, and keyboardist;Geddy.Guitarist,Alex. Percussionist Niel.🐒
Rush is amazing!
Well you just covered the top two all time drummers in rock history with Rush and Led Zep, both great, different styles
I’d also add Keith Moon of The Who-another top tier drummer with yet another completely different style from either of the other two.
Completely agree. As well as with Keith add
Don't forget Carl Palmer of ELP and Asia
the top two all time drummers in rock history are neal peart and Mitch Mitchell of the jimi hendrix experience. mitchell's jazz influenced drumming beats everyone except peart.
Youve gone down the Rush rabbit hole!!! Welcome our Canadian boys !!!!!1
I see Rush....I subscribe....stay on the train...The Spirit of Radio.......then Xanadu...Exit Stage Left version....then La Villa Strangiato....then keep going.✌️
"see Rush....I subscribe." That's why he's using Neil and rush. Am I the only one who thinks these are fake as hell only doing for the his channel .
Enjoy your journey...it is a RUSH!!!
3 dudes
Hip Hop Head has never even heard of Rush, but instantly recognizes the incomparable drumming and prescient lyrics of Neil Peart, as well as Geddy Lee’s terrific bass. I’ve been listening to Rush for 40 years, and the talent and cohesion of Neil, Geddy, and Alex still never fails to amaze me. Great music has an incredible power to open our ears, minds, and hearts to the world. Very insightful and intelligent review my friend. You remind me that we should never stop exploring the world of music!
They called the drummer Neal Peart The Professor!
He wrote all the lyrics for the band. React to his Frankfurt drum solo! Incredible! Peace brother🙏
Welcome to the Rush army. 40yr fan. We are all so thrilled that the fan club is expanding. RIP Neil Peary.
Whatever is left behind in the passing of a rare talent, so much is always lost.”
Neil Peart, drummer from Rush
As a life long fan of more than 40 years of the band hearing your commentary on the song shed new light on to it I'd not considered before since I heard it four decades ago. Really refreshing, thank you!
rush is one of the groups that has deep lyrics, worth looking into
There are a lot of people reacting to Rush these days, it seems, and to be sure, some channels are better than others.
I’m surprised there hasn’t been a recommendation yet to review Neil Peart Drum Solo (Live in Frankfurt)!
You’ll really enjoy this one!
There was a couple times... One the greatest examples EVER !!!
Subscribing because you actually looked at the lyrics. Look forward to more.
Check out live Xanadu for a look at masters in action
exit stage left 1981
Exit Stage Left, Xanadu is a must!
Jay, you were feeling 'Tom Sawyer'!!! Glad to be a part of your channel!!! Keep up the great work, man!!! 👍🏻👍🏻
Rush is...
Geddy Lee - Bassist and keyboards
Alex Lifeson - Lead Guitar
Neil Peart - Drums and percussion (and usually the lyricist)
Kevin Starr you forgot that Geddy is also vocalist...
@@helenespaulding9372 Damn, you're right. My bad.
Appreciate the information y'all and for watchin much luv. Bless 🙏
I was blessed to see them 4 times, and I'm a big concert goer. There is no equal for a live performance - they were a working band from beginning to end. This is a very worthwhile rabbit hole.
As below, Neil Peart drum solo, Frankfort.
Limelight
The Spirit of Radio
And 2112, the 20 minute animated video.
That will get you started.
God bless you and thank you.😊🙏🤘
If you want to isolate the drummer, you have to react to " Neil Peart Live in Frankfurt Germany"
You're not gonna believe this, but the man who plays the drums ALSO wrote the words to that song !! How cool is that ?!? Say a prayer for him, man. His name is Neil Peart, and he just passed away recently...and if you like that song, I would definitely check out " The Spirit of Radio" as well by them -- you will NOT be disappointed by the drum riffs and fills in there !!
Listen to “Subdivisions “. Whole album is Great but this song never gets old. Hope you enjoy.
The most thorough analysis and appreciation i've seen in a Tom Sawyer reaction video. Good ears, good observations.
RUSH "Roll The Bones" has some simple RAP in it!!! :) (
Jay Rah watching your reaction was epic, the meaning to the song is don't sell or rent your mind to one belief, be open minded to change and be positive but discontent, and you actually picked that up from the get, so YOU are the warrior, today's Tom Sawyer they are singing about, well done man, well done ! God bless you.
Mark Twain wrote Tom Sawyer. And Huckleberry Finn. Good reading.
Thank you for adding this video, it is a joy watching you get into this tune. You prove thst music belongs to everyone. More power to you

The message .... You can't buy me - - I'm my own person, I do my own thing, and don't think you know me just by looking at the outside - -
You might try LaVilla Strangiato .... it showcases their instrumental talent - - a full story with not a single spoken word - -
I didn’t read all the other comments but I can tell you exactly who Tom Sawyer is. 🤘🏻
"Who is Tom Sawyer?"
Wow! I'm without words right now.
And old ..
Neil was the best at bars. Every subject science, philosophy, spirituality, environment, heroes, tragedy, triumph, everything under the sun Neil turned into music to my ears and food for my soul.
"Subdivisions" Rush.
I still remember being in a car with some buddies , mid 1990’s hanging in a parking lot and hearing subdivisions for the first time. Blew my mind.
As soon as I heard you say you like drums , I thought " oh shit, you're gonna LOVE this" it's always great when someone gets a Rush song on the first listen, and you got it.
