Thank you so much for making this video it is greatly appreciated and a wonderful insight to how he thinks about life , very inspiring RIP Professor Peart 💔
When I hear people debate whether or not Neil is the greatest drummer ever, I can’t help but feel that they are taking such an amazing person and reducing him down to just a drummer. He was just a complete treasure. So smart, so humble, and such a good human being. He’s so much more than a drummer.
I like the word you used…a treasure! That’s what he was. I also believe most forget that he was a composer, a writer and lyricist. He dealt with so much grief in loss of his early family, but found a way to continue on and contribute. He was a GEM…
Neil was an extraordinary man who happened to be a very special musician. Your favorite drummer will be determined by other factors like the kind of music you like. In learning what goes into a Rush show, I just don't know of a drummer who is responsible for so much. He's the only drummer I've heard say "I don't even buy green bananas." What a special soul.
My hero. 40 years of influence on my soul and brain through your craft. You have no idea the true impact you had on so many people during your time on earth. Thank you Neil Peart. Time stand still. RIP AND GOD BLESS YOU.
+zdrumdude Neil Peart is an amazing lyricist for Rush, on top of shredding drums!! An imbecile, as you call him, wouldn't be able to do what he does!! He's phenomenal!!
The 3 of them 'built' each other because they stuck together and 'Nurtured' each others talents to Perfection. They never once gave up on each other. It took ALL 3 of them to rise to fame. They are Musicians who aimed high and it paid off. Greatness!
Beautifully said. And they didn't have to be dicks about it either. They saw what the others were doing, as Neil said, and decided that wasn't going to be them. Respect was the one thing they nurtured in each other, and respect is what they got from the fans and their peers.
And they went thru rough periods. It is well documented that the band almost broke up during the "Grace Under Pressure" sessions because it was their first record without producer Terry Brown, a number of "A" list producers like Steve Lillywhite bailed on them during preproduction, and they ended up being stuck with Peter Henderson who was really only an engineer. Rush spent something like 4 straight months, 7 days per week, 16 hours per day working on that great album, but it nearly did them in. They also nearly broke up after the "Hold Your Fire" tour because they just toured too much and it was negatively effecting their health and families. And then we all know of Neil's tragedies. The period before "2112" was also brutal. I know some folks dig "Caress of Steel," but it was a commercial disaster. In the first month after its release "2112" outsold Rush's three previous records combined.
A Gentleman and a Scholar. Creativity seems to be rare today. Neil's genius brain had no rest. The works with Al and Geddy are the soundtrack of my life... Thank You Rush, for all the shapes and colors
What a terrible terrible loss to RUSH fans, to our friends in Canada, but mostly, what a loss to mankind. An intelligent, articulate, well read, well spoken, overwhelmingly decent and truly humble human being. He was, is, and will remain such an inspiration. His loss is a dagger in the heart.
My brother was a 16yo drummer in 1972, when he was hit and killed by a drunk driver! I was 8! Iam 58 now! Brother love! Along with the guidance of neil peart only has given me a good career in drumming! Thank u neil peart! Your skill has brought me through hard times, rip
I'm so sorry for your loss, and it's wonderful to hear that Neil Peart's music has been a source of inspiration for you. 🥁🎶 Much love 💛 #Believe - Feb (from Evan's team)
I never knew him and i never met him, but Neil Peart changed my life forever, and influenced me more than any other musician ever did, before or since. On the night of the news of his passing, after drinking several pints of good English ale in his honour, i returned home, to sit at my drum kit, hit a couple of weak and feeble rounds, and then shed the tears of disbelief. God bless you Neil. Rest in peace.
"Is this the most excellent thing I can do?" "Am I doing this like it's the most important thing in my life?" Neil actually LIVES these ideals. Inspirational beyond words...
I hadn’t really heard of him as an individual (although I do like the music of Rush) so the news of his death hasn’t really impacted me, but having watched this video I am coming more to the realisation that we have lost someone, and something rather special.. RIP Neil Peart.
Pretty much like you regards NP and Rush until 2015. Then a friend suggested Ghost Rider when my beloved passed away in May of that year. It helped, really helped me get through and onward. I just finished reading his three "Far and..." books, and came to the same realization you did.
I'm a freelance photographer & writer, but I've been a Rush fan since their inception. This interview with Neil Peart, and his top ten tips, has brought some new inspiration to me today. Not that that should surprise me, as Rush, and Peart's writing, have always brought me inspiration. The world lost a treasure when we lost Neil. I will always be grateful to him and his compadres for their contributions to my own life.
Feel in shock that Neil has gone. He was a massive influence throughout my life and his lyrics have helped me survive some dark times. I knew there was something wrong with him the last few years, but they kept his fight against brain cancer out of the media. His book 'Ghost Rider' is a moving testament to the struggles Neil went through and how he overcame grief. He was a sensitive, highly intelligent, kind and gifted man. The world does not feel the same without him. He will be greatly missed.
Each Rush song is a sonic thread in a beautiful musical tapestry which takes a lifetime of devoted listening, to enable you to see. The tapestry is rich, complex, beautiful, impossible but yet for some of us, there it is, and we are forever gifted by the majesty, magnificence and sonic brilliance of Rush. RIP Neil / I miss you, Darren
I only knew around 4 Rush songs, so I'm not a lifetime fan of the band, but I heard of Neil's death yesterday and this got me checking out more about him. He is clearly highly intelligent and very inspirational because of this. I think he is potentially bigger than drums. His intelligence shines through in every one of these examples and I think we were lucky to have him here to give us these gifts.
RIP Professor... Gone but not forgotten... the legendary drummer & GOAT "The measure of a life is a measure of love and respect So hard to earn, so easily burned In the fullness of time A garden to nurture and protect"
I’ve never shared this.. Neil has the sweetest most gentle countenance about him. A pure honest soul. 🤗🙏 thank you Neil for being such a huge and most influential man an musician to our drumming family.
I agree, Neil seemed such an amazing soul: humble, humorous, very curious, open, sensitive, generous, intelligent, erudite, eloquent. He is and will continue to be sorely missed. 😢🙏
My big brother gave me RUSH. I never looked back. Farewell to Kings, 2112, Hemispheres, - and then I found my own songs - well a friend gave me a few like : "The Weapon" - but Xanadu and all the others... it made me who I am. I still love RUSH at 49
There will never be, can never be another like Neil. So articulate, so classy, and along with Geddy and Alex, made for the best rock band in history to me. He is the first musician that passed that earned my tears.
I recently started my adventure as an entrepreneur and so many on this list apply as to how to succeed! Favorites are Be Restless, Learn From Others, and Infect People With Your Fire. Thanks Evan. What a list this is from the greatest drummer of our time. RIP Neil Peart, your memory will live on forever!
What a great guy. He has consistently be this optimistic, and I am always amazed he has such patience with being asked the same bag of questions over and over. Just keeps coming up with refinements to his answers! Good vid, wel edited.
I owned a successful drum store for over a decade...met many famous drummers...EVERYONE wants to be Neil Peart! The drum roll at the end of Limelight never gets old!
Part of Rush` longevity apart from the obvious, talent, is they are all good guys. I myself as a loyal fan for 40 years, part of my loyalty is due to the fact that all three of them are such awesome human beings.
Good job pulling those clips together. Really nice to see how he never waivered over time - always insightful, always humble, always poised, always passionate. Terrible loss for us all. I do sincerely hope he is in a better place - he deserves it.
Sigh. A man who reflects some of the values I espouse, and with whom I share a distaste for the spotlight, ironically enough. I've been blessed to enjoy his and his bandmate's songs and music since 1984 when me and a buddy as high school students wanted to find "weird" music that we liked because of some Moody Blues inspiration. We figured any albums with roman numerals next to the song titles might qualify. I had a choice between Uriah Heep and Rush (2112). After listening to that Rand inspired album, which was even then a few years old, I was hopelessly a fanatic. I knew every lyric to every song up to then by the end of that year. I waited for every subsequent album with baited breath all the way through Clockwork Angels. Now, those days may very well be done. Thank you, Neil. Bittersweet. Oh well, there's always the next Tool album (many will see the joke there)
Thank you very much for sharing that peartist2, very interesting and for sure there are many who shares your love for him and the band. :) #BTA194 Shine
Thanks for having a great musician on this series! As a musician who also has a regularly updated UA-cam channel, this was great to watch and very helpful! I especially like #1- earn your audience every concert
This Interview with Neil is spectacular!! We ALL had the priviledge of living in the same time he did... What a massive influence on all of us musicians!!
I have been living these rules for decades, pretty much since I realized 30 years ago what I loved most about the band besides the music was their work ethic and commitment to being their own personal best. I came onboard in '85, and what blew me away was how each album leading up to Power Windows was better than the one before, the growth was palapable to my "ear tounge" (sorry for the visual). I respected that. All that aside, these days, infect others with enthusiasm is one I practice daily. Thanks Evan. GREAT job!
You are a true fan!!! You GET IT!! RUSH is about moving forward, not rinse and repeat. And fans like you not only see that, but respect it and embrace it, and quite possibly (like you said you already do), incorporate that method of thinking in their daily lives as well. It's the drive that keeps us "Driven".
Hemispheres certainly wasn't better than the three albums before it..... I've been a huge Rush fan since the early 80's , but I do have top say that spotting their lows and flaws isn't a strong trait among the die-hard fans. Hemispheres as a piece is IMO weak, because there was no real worth to that overwrought piece. Subconsciously (at least) Rush themselves must have felt this, as they also quit with the long epics after it.... It has it's moments but overall, not worth the effort, I'd say. You can't say that about 2112 or The Fountain of Lamneth.
I've just always been impressed with Neil's intelligence and drive, but knowing now the other aspects of his life other than a musician he is that much more impressive to me.
"Infect others with your fire!" I love that! I love it when people tell me that " it's because of you I exercise each morning" "it's because of your videos , I wake up early" and all! ;) Thanks for sharing, Evan ♡!
I liked #2 and #10 ... Mainly because I am restless A LOT and I find myself trying out different things and always ready to learn something new. I always saw being restless in a more negative light but this video gave me a much needed and welcomed different perspective. :)
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Tonica, glad to know the video gave you a different perspective about being restless. I think it's great if you are always ready to learn something new and keep improving. Thanks for watching! #BTA187 Shine
Thank you very much for your suggestion but it would be great if you could post your request under this video: ua-cam.com/video/0arZb0xLIDM/v-deo.html If more people would vote or like your request and there are available videos/clips for it, we might do a Top 10 rules video for it. Much love. :) #BelieveNation #BTA968 Luka
The one amazing thing about Rush. You will never ever hear any member say anything bad about the rest of the group. All 3 were the most technical and creative at what they did. They meshed and did not have fights among each other but instead wanted to bring out the best in each other given their particular contribution to the band. To me that is amazing.
Huge rush fan for many years and when people say they don't like rush or ask what is the fascination with them this is one of many reasons we love them. I understand that some only heard their first albums and didn't care for it but as the years went by with albums like presto, counterparts, test for echo etc, the music just kept getting better as for the fascination its more than the awesome music it's the way they carry themselves and how they view their lives, their fortunes, and misgivings and the enthusiasm they have for the good and bad. Just listening to them talk is inspiring and makes you smile. Also if you haven't seen the video dinner with rush you need to check it out. It should have been a series.

Neil, Alex and Geddy are together more than their persons summed up together. They are THE GUYS^3!
What a GREAT drummer and an even better human. Missing Neil.
😊💛 #Believe - Feb
Good job pulling those clips together. Really nice to see how he never waivered over time - always insightful, always humble, always poised, always passionate. Terrible loss for us all. I do sincerely hope he is in a better place - he deserves it.
Thanks for the kind words. He was truly exceptional, and his legacy lives on through these clips. #Believe - Feb (from Evan's team)
Undoubtedly one great human being!!! You are missed Neil!!!!!!

Mr. Peart was not only an incredible drummer, he was an incredible human being.

They didn’t call him the “Professor” for nothing.
More than ever, I love listening to him play and speak in 2022. RIP Neil

Rush is one of the few bands that conversations would be endless..
Thanks for watching :) #BTA1131 Luka
Now there's a true musician.
Thanks for the comment and for watching. :) #BTA307 Shine
Although you have never created any good music
@@standup5537 I didn't know you knew him personally
Thanks for having a great musician on this series! As a musician who also has a regularly updated UA-cam channel, this was great to watch and very helpful! I especially like #1- earn your audience every concert
Glad you liked it Nate and it is helpful to you. Thank you very much for watching! #BTA187 Shine
When I heard that he was gone, I felt a shadow cross my heart... but he was somebodies hero. RIP Neil. Thanks for all the great music and memories.
RIP #Believe :) #BTA1552 Veljko
This Interview with Neil is spectacular!! We ALL had the priviledge of living in the same time he did... What a massive influence on all of us musicians!!
#Believe :) #BTA1631 Veljko
I have been living these rules for decades, pretty much since I realized 30 years ago what I loved most about the band besides the music was their work ethic and commitment to being their own personal best. I came onboard in '85, and what blew me away was how each album leading up to Power Windows was better than the one before, the growth was palapable to my "ear tounge" (sorry for the visual). I respected that.
All that aside, these days, infect others with enthusiasm is one I practice daily.
Thanks Evan. GREAT job!
Thanks for sharing and for watching. :) Glad to know you are infecting others with enthusiasm. :) All the best to you! #BelieveNation #BTA228 Shine
Kevin Marshall My opinion differs from yours.
I'm with Rez on this one. I thought Hemispheres was a beautiful piece of work.
I've just always been impressed with Neil's intelligence and drive, but knowing now the other aspects of his life other than a musician he is that much more impressive to me.
Thank you for sharing with us and thanks for watching. :) #BelieveNation #BTA738 Luka
"Infect others with your fire!" I love that! I love it when people tell me that " it's because of you I exercise each morning" "it's because of your videos , I wake up early" and all! ;) Thanks for sharing, Evan ♡!
Awesome to know that the videos that impact to you Nkiru. Keep the fire burning! #Believe. :) #BTA187 Shine

He was amazing #Believe :) #BTA1474 Veljko
I liked #2 and #10 ... Mainly because I am restless A LOT and I find myself trying out different things and always ready to learn something new. I always saw being restless in a more negative light but this video gave me a much needed and welcomed different perspective. :)
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Tonica, glad to know the video gave you a different perspective about being restless. I think it's great if you are always ready to learn something new and keep improving. Thanks for watching! #BTA187 Shine
I am huge fan of Rush. Thanks for this Top 10 ! :)
Thanks for sharing. #Believe - Feb (from Evan's team)
Thank you Neil for the great lyrics and amazing drumming. Have a great fun with all your mates in heaven. And for all with your daughter 😭✌️❤️

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Joel #Believe :) #BTA1651 Veljko
I love that dinner video....cheers from Brazil 🥰
