I'm a novice at carpenter. I was trying to make a woodstool, and it was really hard to make a seven degree angle on my leg, but I can understand it after watching this video again and again. Thank you so much. Please post a lot of other things, too.~^^
Wedged tenons provided strength, small tolerance of mortise sizing variation and a pleasing aesthetic contrast. All handy attributes for an item in use in a busy area of a home- or workshop. General design appeared robust, functional and aesthetically ok. Impressed with the description, tips and video. Thanks, I look forward to future videos. Gary
Thats awesome!!! Yes the legs and the angles are a little tougher, thats why I practiced with some cheap pine first. Happy Building! Tag me in on instagram with your final result!
Really like the look and craftsmanship of those stools. You have definitely given me some techniques I want to try! Great job on both the project and the video!
I have mad respect for people who use all hand tools. I have enough patience for woodworking but I think my patience has a limit cause hand tools would kill me haha
Well done!! The stool looks great. I'm currently making a stool using floating tenons. Thanks for showing how you made the seat, I"m going to use my router too.
Awesome John! Take your time with the router, I burnt out my old router while working on this project, but it saw a lot of work and it was time for a new one. So no worries this. Wag me on Instagram @kevbotworkshop I'd love to see the final product.!
Thanks Stuff! This is my earliest project so it was done before I had my shop lights. Now that I have them Ill have even better lighting and producing better looking videos. Thanks for watching!
yes angles are obnoxious. I made a test out of pine so I could get them right. To help angles should be relatively close for the tilt of the legs and the cross bars.
You definitively need a bigger band saw. You need a bigger router. You need a large jointer and a belt sander and a big planer. I would even say that you also need decent CNC, a new Domino and a Shaper Origin. I hope new sponsors will line up. Also for a fancy table saw.
Hi Kevin! what is the length of that second router bit that you use for the seat? I think I need to buy one of those for the same reason as you, I want to do that same round seat but my straight bit is to short, like 1 1/4" or less..
do you have any plans for this project? i'm trying to make my first set and having trouble with the angles and direction of cut for the legs to line up at the same height
I congratulate you for this beautiful work, is there any way to get the plans of these bar stools ?, I would like to make one for my work table, thank you very much !!!
Thank you Valentina! I actually dont have plans for the stools at the moment but will be sure to pass along information to people if I do in the future.
It can be done!!!!! No joke my guy people built stuff without power tools for a long time. Theres plenty of traditional woodworkers on YT. Just takes time and practice and not settling for flaws. I say go for it
Hello! I am building a stool currently and I ran into the same issue with my legs a little out of whack. When you fixed this did you run just one leg through the table saw blade?
You most likely have to adjust each leg to get it just right. What I did was do the opposite leg first and then work from there. Do a little at a time until you fix the wobble. Cheers
- VERY, VERY nice pieces. It would be helpful in DIY stool projects, though, to give express directions on how to cut the compound leg end cuts. They're not easy to figure out.
I actually don't have plans for these built. At some point I think I am going to make them and then I will get them in a place for people to buy/or download for free.
SUPER JOB U GAVE ME A GREAT IDEEA I AM TALL AND MY KITCHEN TABLE WAS SHORT SO I PUT SOME WHEELS TO RISE IT BUT IN THE END THID CAME A LITTLE TALLER THAT I WANT IT TO BE ...SO IN ORDER TO PLEASE MY WIFE WHICH IS THE SAME A TALL WOMEN I DECIDED TO CONSTRUCT A TALL STOOL TO FIT WITH THE TABLE
This guy: create bar stool
Also this guy: just squat anyway
good video man!
instablaster.
That seat jig was pretty dope ngl
Thanks! ive seen it used to make chair backs and thought it was perfect
Your technique for leveling the stool saved my day!! Thanks for Sharing!!
You got it!
Love the creativity you've introduced with just limited tools (the table saw flattening really got me!) -- a true inspiration. Thank you!
Thanks Lee! Yes I try to show ways people can build without all the fancy tools! Keep Building Brother!
@dakemi725 Agreed but nice design and video. Thanks heaps.
This is a beautiful design and extremely well made. Thanks for sharing your work.
Thanks for watching!

yeah the angles are tough. Thats why I practiced with a pine piece to make sure I got them right. Thanks for the kind words!
Good work. The way you overcame your lack of tools is awesome. I never would have thought of cutting out the curve that way.
O yeah, my shop is much more equipped now, but I still stand by that jig. Others have used it for backs to chairs too.
Kevin, great job for a wolverine ad a little scarlet and gray to your attire and it would be super great !!!
Haha thanks! little backhanded.. but ill take it

You are very dedicated. I would have stopped with the pine mock-up 😂
pretty sure that pine mock up would have imploded as soon as I tried to sit on it
Hey mate.first time viewer, and subscriber here.they are lovely looking stools.great job.looking forward to watching some of your other projects 😀

Ive made stools like these with hand tools, but the way you made this is so well, congratulations.

Nice work.
Very nice job
Thanks - great job!

These stools are beautiful, almost too beautiful for a workshop.
Haha Yeah I've dinged them up a little bit out there. Ill probably clean them up and put them at a bar some day.
Really nice. After watching your coffee table build and then this I had to sub.
Awesome thanks!!! I have other good ones too!

Thanks Chef, I hope to have more for you really soon.
Aahh very good idea there to use table saw to make the stool legs balance.
Thanks, I picked it up somewhere, not sure where

Thanks man! stay tuned for more over the next week or so
great videos. hope to see more form you!
Thanks Joe! More projects coming. Hopefully get one out sometime next week!
These f’n angles are hard as hell to figure out!!, it took me 5 hours just to build the build the bottom section and I kreged everything together.
yes angles are obnoxious. I made a test out of pine so I could get them right. To help angles should be relatively close for the tilt of the legs and the cross bars.
Just what is my next project would be...a new subsciber now.
Congrats on the shoutout! Christofix sent me! 😇😎
Thanks!! And thanks for stopping by! Hope you enjoy your stay
@@KevBotWorkshop I did and thanks! 😇😎
Very nice craftsmanship. Do you have any plans available for laymen such as myself
As of right now I dont, but stay tuned as I am starting to put together plans for other builds and I may just do this in time.

haha thanks man! my shop has grown tremendously since that build so we are in better hands but theres always room for sponsors ;)
Great video. Using the table saw to trim the uneven leg is genius! The wedge cuts in the tenons are to long imo.
First time doing wedges for me Id look to do them nicer anytime i do in the future. Table saw trick I saw somewhere but it worked perfectly.

Great Vid, do you have a plan of the saddle bar stool?
As of right now I don't, but I am in the process of making plans for my tool storage unit and this one will closely follow. Stay tuned!
Great job any plans on this stool?
Unfortunately no Luke, but most of it is making it to the size you need.
Very nice
Thanks!
do you have any plans for this project? i'm trying to make my first set and having trouble with the angles and direction of cut for the legs to line up at the same height
Currently I dont. Just remember all the angles are repeated across the whole thing.
can you post what is needed and measurements to build the jig?
Hey Kev what thickness are the legs?
2x2 inch

I am about to make a stool and i just realize that I must be a genius to try this with only a hand saw, a hand drill and a hand sander. oh my gosh! 🙄🙄

1:08 or, setup a chainsaw mill.
O yeah that would have definitely helped. I have a bandsaw now
Your band saw has a small drift to the Right
Fully agree, that little one did, and my new big one does too. Gotta get around to fixing that
invest in some japanese pull saws, you'll be amazed
got one since then. Love it
would it be possible to have the plans ? Thank you !

Go BLUE!
Thats right Gordo. Go Blue!!! Those who stay will be champions
The main question is the plans i need them
Sorry for the delay, Im gonna work on some plans hopefully in the near future.
Great work! It's too bad the bowties had to be on the underside.
Actually there is one on top, sorry I didn’t show it in the video. I do have a picture of it on my Instagram
