Hi great Channel The Buzz Bomb was invented and manufactured in Courtney BC by Rex Field. I've been using buzz bomb since the 1970s in fact my brother has a mold for the 4-in which we don't even paint just throw them out the shiny lead or scrape them with a knife to make them shiny. Also I like the pink pearl 4 in for fishing off Rocky points. I use 60 lb Andie fishing line and for some reason it catches fish better than lesser diameter line. You don't need much just enough to get her to spin like your leader there. I just cast it out about 45 ft let it sink down to about just off the bottom and then reel it in really fast repeat repeat. Also great for Ling Cod. I'll have to try the UV. With the Hoochy looks great
Great info! Thanks for sharing and for watching!
Once again perfect timing! Thanks a ton! Look forward to seeing your future content!
Thank you :) I have another video that builds on this one for how to fish them coming soon as well
Absolutely brilliant. This rigging is genius.
Thanks for watching and the support! I cannot take credit for the idea but it works great!
Very useful for me as an angler Thank you for sharing a video about fishing experience
Glad it was helpful!
Super good idea for a combo. Going to try this out very soon!!!
Thanks for watching and the support!
Went out last Thursday morning and took home 1 pink salmon! Felt awesome to watch your video. Use this method and be able to catch fish at a new spot! Even caught myself singing your classic song in a lot of your videos 🤙
That is awesome! Way to go! Thank you for the support
I caught my first salmon yesterday, rigged just like this. Out at Bush Point, had a 3" white/pink holographic buzz bomb with a 2" hot pink hoochie and a 1/0 Gamakatsu Big River Bait Hook.
Thanks for the tips!
Awesome job! Thank you for watching and the support
Hey, I was wondering are people still up at bush point was thinking of going tomorrow but didn’t want to go before confirming that there’s still fish out there
Thanks
I love Bush point!
Used the Buzz Bomb from Shore in the 1970s in Victoria BC Canada for Salmon and Rock Fish
I did not have the swivel and the amount of spin made a mess out of my line. Hooked one really good and lost one. But adding the hoochie and swivel will make it much bettwr. Thanks!!!
The glow buzz bombs are very effective here in the upper Columbia for night time fishing for kings.
I bet! That would be a fun way to fish them up there!
Well done
Thank you !
Been getting back into fishing this year and used your advice on the spinners/squid skirt rig and hooked into a real nice one at Point No Point on Sunday. It was pretty fun seeing it all work. Unfortunately, I didn't get it landed and lost it about 10 feet out in the water. But I'll be back out. I know this video is a year old, but thanks for your input!
Awesome job! Thanks for watching and the support
Nice Rick….the long walk at Bush
Thanks man indeed!
@@HolyMolyOutdoors so love the outside the box color, but why do you feel that the UV will work well for Pinks?
you just blew my mind!!! I love buzz bombs but lose a lot of fish on them, after seeing this video I never thought about the hinge point on the hook and line. Thanks for the tips!
Thank you for the support!
That looks awesome I’m
Moving there next month!! Don’t need any spot burns or anything but let me know if you wanna fish together.
The pink and white works great here. Washington state on Liberty Bay.
Yes definitely a good one!
Great thorough work, Links not working in the description though.
Thank you for watching and the heads up! Ill fix them
Thanks so much for the helpful video. I couldn't find anything on that first knot you tied online, thought you called it the "ward knot". Did I mishear you, and was that the same knot you tied to the hook end? I'm a total noob but have my new rod and reel and am itching to get set up and get out to the Edmonds pier.
Yes that is correct the “Ward Knot”. I do have a video to show it being tied. I’ll see if I can post the link. Thanks for watching and the support!
Hi, I have caught a lot of pinks modeled after your Buzz Bomb rig. Question, would you recommend putting a bead or a bumper above the Buzz Bomb to prevent wear on the above knot tied to the swivel on the leader? Would this negatively impact the action of the Buzz Bomb? I'm trying to reduce Buzz Bomb loss as local stores in the Puget Sound region are now out of the popular 2 1/2 inch size in pink.
Great to hear it’s been working! You could add a small bead as long as it doesn’t impede the buzz bomb to slide up. I’ve been running minimum 20lb leader to help on not loosing lures
I made some of these yesterday and went out today and used them. The buzz bomb doesn’t spin?? I rigged it up exactly the way you showed and I couldn’t get it to work? Made 5 of them and nothing?
Do you mostly jig the buzz bomb on the retrieve, or reel it like a spoon?
I mix both into the retrieve. The straight reel actually creates a killer spoon retrieve and kicks big side to side. The jig retrieve creates a flutter on the fall
If you can let it fall then crank in and repeat if you're on a point.
would love to meet up one day and slay some salmon on the sound
For th 2.5 inch what size rod reel combo woukd you suggest for shore casting
I honestly like a 8’6 M-MH. An Okuma celilio is a great base rod that won’t break the bank either. 3000 size reel at a minimum for line capacity
I like to fish for salmon off public piers, and I also really like buzz bombs. Most of the people around me use darts or crippled herring jigs, and seem surprised when I use a buzz bomb (3xh perch with a 4/0 or 5/0 hook on a barrel swivel with a green squid skirt). Is there any reason for their reaction? It's hard to catch fish off the pier in general, but all the bites I've gotten were with this setup. I've hooked up twice, the second time recently on an absolute hog that I lost at the edge of the pier, which brings me to my next question, is my hook size alright? The average king being landed is between 10-15 lbs on this pier
Thanks for any help by the way, your videos are absolute gems, I learned how to do a squid skirt from your videos and I have subscribed, you have unique and very quality content and I appreciate this channel more than any other for salmon fishing tips
Great to hear you are having success! And thank you for watching.
I'd say the looks are coming from others because you are fishing different than the masses. Honestly not a bad thing! Being different can mean the difference for bites or not.
For hook size that should be good, it is always tough with barbless. I make sure off the pier to double set and drive the siwash home. Have to keep the head in the water too once they get close. Not easy by any means.
Thank you for the kind words, I have a lot more coming that is geared towards our Puget Sound fisheries.
What is the weight of all these???
Can you use wire instead of mono?
Great question! I’m sure you could make a wire version and that would work. What I’m not sure of though is how well it would spin with a reduced space for freedom to slide. Still would work as a jig no less though. Thank you for the question and for watching
WHAT BRAND SIZE SWIVEL'S, Type, were they actual ball-bearing, or Crane, or Roller sleeve. To Bad any Lure has to be Enhanced with anything to make it better, but Results is the main goal.
In the video I believe these were the Pucci rolling swivels. I have had good luck using them and they are reasonably priced as well
Suggestions on whete to go?
Bush Point, but expect to have about a hundred other fishermen there.
Can I use my 7 ft rod?
As long as the rod can handle the lure weight, absolutely! A shorter rod can help on fatigue from the jigging motion throughout the course of a day
I got a 5OT... will it still work? Damn wish I watched this video before. Subbed though great vids!
Thank you for watching and the support! Is the 5OT a particular size?
@@HolyMolyOutdoors oh to be honest I thought OT was the size!!! Sorry time to do a bit more research! It looks a little bigger than the one you have here
What if you put the buzz bomb on the line upside down? Will it still spin?
Yes it will still spin and fish. However the optimal rigging is per the instructions
Thanks. I live in Kirkland. I subscribed. Thanks for the video and help.
Can you use a 4 1/2 squid skirt? Thanks
You can for sure but the 2.5” gives a better profile I feel for hook up
@@HolyMolyOutdoors Thanks!
Do you know when they will be in at edmonds area?
They are starting to show now :)
I was there yesterday nobody caught anything
@@davidwilliams3643 what time
@@davper8619 11 AM to about 4 pm. Lots of crabs... but no fish
@@davidwilliams3643 hmm well that is low tide
Can this setup work from a boat as well? Thanks
Absolutely 100%. Many times especially for pink salmon you can find a school and cast to them as they jump. This is a perfect rig for that
@@HolyMolyOutdoors Would this work for coho and kings? Thanks
@@NghiaPham-xi5so yes definitely I’ve caught all of them on the same rigging
@@HolyMolyOutdoors Thanks!
hoochie messes up buzzbomb action when cast retrieve.....unless you are just trolling the bbomb...
I would have to say it can for sure with too big of a hoochie. I like running the 1.5-2" kokanee size hoochies and never have an issue
Mono or floro ?
I like mono better myself. Fluorocarbon will work too but I numb Fluorocarbon to 20lb at least for better abrasion resistance
@HolyMolyOutdoors I have 30 pound braid spooled up on my salmon rod would you recommend I switch reels to straight mono or will a line to line connection knot work for braid to mono ? Thank you.
