    Musical creativity at it's highest form! Too bad only the extremely small circle of jazz listeners even know such genius exists. At least we know. Thanks for uploading

    The timing of that intro was just so on the money. I personally lost the feeling of time during his sort of swelling drum rolls, but the second the band heard that 1 bar fill at the end of his solo they all knew they had to come in. Awesomely in sync with each other.

    • @evanschippers3943
      @evanschippers3943 5 років тому +5

      Freefall 207 I think maybe the gong roll section of his solo on the toms wasn’t really in time, and the 1 bar of lead in was a reentrance if Time for the band to start. Or at least that’s the way I always think of it as a drummer, it doesn’t really change much but it’s interesting to see the perspective differences between different people. Typically with me when I have an open solo I’ll sometimes drop time, although some people listening can perceive it as still in time :)

      Very nice. Thanks for the info. Is the Super Action model another name for the Balanced Action, or does it precede it? I know Selmer came out with the crappy Super 80 series of saxes a few decades ago, and they were all a big awful disappointment, alloy-wise and "improved-mechanism" wise, compared to the almighty Selmer Paris Mark VI and its predecessors.

    That dialogue between Tony Williams and Herbie Hancock ... masterful! Nice camera cutaway catching Freddie Hubbard's admiration. Yes, Tony Williams set a higher dimensional tone from jump, maintaining a fertile rhythmic foundation for all to thrive upon. Bobby Hutcherson's solo was transcendent as always, but he seemed to fade too far in the background for most of this set, for my taste.

His fusion days actually made him explore and from this exploration he became much more aware and sounded even more killing that he already did so if your going to say anything about the TONY WILLIAMS check him out first.
