    Watch this video carefully, you will realise that after a solo by Walter Davis jnr, Freddie,Johny & Curtis wanted to play & Art changed the beat of drums & thats when they stopped & allowed Reggie Workmen to play his solo. This is what I call the art of music.

    I can't help but sit here thinking Art Blakey probably played this song a million times, yet the smile at the end feels so authentic that you know he loved playing for people. There are other recordings of this song with less errors, but none with as much heart as this one has.

    I Absolutely love this smooth jazz groove Moanin' what an epic, timeless classic! I can listen to it any day of the week by Art Blakey! Each horn player gets 2 minutes to shine! but my favorite. horn is that slide/trombone the 1 with swiss cheese cut though..nicety.👍👍✌

    3:07 the timing around the top of the last section here is fascinating, 5:05 very behind the beat feel.

    I began enjoying jazz after I watched the DVD of Blue note artists. It was my late father`s (May his soul rest in peace) DVD. Tenor Sax-Johny Griffin,Trumpet-Freddie Hubbard,Trombone-Curtis Fuller,Piano -Walter Davis jnr,Bass-Reggie Workman & on drums is my here, Art Blakey.

    To randomperson 12o. That was not a mistake. It was very intentional. Griffin and many others use this in their solos. Hubbard's facial expression was one of approval.Like "yeah" baby!

      He always did. Right up till hi death bed. A genuine hero of mine. Music that turns you on. Right up till the end with Joe Pass and Oscar Peterson. Still blowing his ass off. Once in a generation comes a man like Freddie. So glad to have met him musically.

    Curtis is using a type of Soft Mute. It's a kind of bag with holes in to absorb some of the overtones and sharp edges of the sound.
    Also he almost drops his Trombone at @7:00 . Funny face :p
