A quiet and understated master; Joe Henderson is one guy I'd have swum the Atlantic to hear play, given the opportunity to play with him I'd glad have made that journey with my drum set strapped to my back.
There is a special joy when I "discover" an outstanding bass player or a group of outstanding musicians. Mraz is about 6 years my junior so how did I not know about him until today? I've listened to thousands of musicians and have played with hundreds but somehow George Mraz escaped my attention . . . until today. Subscribed and looking for more tunes with George Mraz.
nemo227 thanks for the comments, yeah...George is simply beautiful and deep, to me he is the best(not one of...). I was lucky could have years to study with, will update soon from some of my collections.
Heres a tip: look for ANY collaboration between George Mraz and Hank Jones. There are many. A special connection ua-cam.com/video/_QcajCp9yCg/v-deo.htmlsi=fzD0yJ2wqRGuun9c

Joe was a. Fabulous Tenor player. I think he played on a Selmer Soloist that came with his horn. Thank you for posting this. God bless Bill. UK
Still can't get over how low Al Foster sits a his set; he's almost on the floor :-)
The God in heaven truth!!!
...as for George Mraz? Don't even get me started; he tip toed nicely out of his solo and back into the theme like a house breaker :-)
This is very intense!
Ain't Bheki lovely though? A slight touch of McCoy TYNER in him, but of course that's far from being a disadvantage. Love the guy!
