The sound effects are nice. I'm a technical writer and use the certs just as a learning tool. Not even sure if I will ever need all that knowledge but it increasingly feels like everything is connected and it helps to understand the tech system.
Glad I watched this video. I've been an IT generalist with a focus on Firewalls, 20+ years total and need to pivot. I'm about ready to take the Sec+ exam and have already started studying for the AWS Solutions Architect Associate. Thanks for the video and your insight.
As someone who got the Security+ in June, is gaining hands-on AWS experience and has a SAA exam scheduled in 2 weeks - this video made me *extremely* happy and optimistic. Thanks brother
I have to say your video got me thinking. I am working with Azure, since it's requested a lot in my part of the world. I like the fact that you went to the engineer, then moved into security. Lots to think about. Thank you for your insights.
Hey Nick! I am in college learning Cybersecurity for my bachelors. I have my Sec+ and AZ-900 Azure Fundamentals. Right now I'm working in my AWS CCP (cloud practioner). I want to get into security on the cloud, what should be the next step to look good and valuable to employers? Since i have no experience but i want to get into cloud security.
Hi Nick. Thanks for sharing. My aim is well aligned with yours. I have recently bagged the Comptia Sec+ and really want to specialize in cloud and AWS makes perfect sense as it will be more desirable out there. I also have a Bachelors Degree un IT, but I do want to beef up my cybersec skills. Any projects, reources and advice on how I can develop and build these effectively ?
Thank you for the video; it's amazing! I have one question. I am in my last year studying cyber security bachelors. I have CC certified by ISC2. I gained multiple training courses. I aim to take my next step, whether to take ComptSecurity+ or SSCP. In my opinion, I see Compt+ owned by everyone, and I started to feel it's not that hard while I tried the ISC2 exam, and I am sure it's not an easy one, and the SSCP goes more with depth in cybersecurity, but for popularity, the CompTIA Sec+ is more popular, and after 3 years or 4 I aim to gain CISSP. So what do you think is better for me to take SSCP or CompTIA Sec+?
What can i do if I have a degree in IT and studied cybersecurity as a concentration. But nobody is willing to hire so i can get experience? What should i do?
Hi , I have just three questions here . First one , Are there an entry level jobs for security engineer . Second question, which is better for beginners in cyber security is to become security engineer or soc analysis . The last question ، which path will give you faster job security engineer or soc analysis. Thank you very much 😊
1. Yes, there are entry-level jobs but you will want to look within the specialities (ie. cloud security) 2. I recommend going for security engineer. Security analyst roles are very competitive and its a saturated market. 3. Take the path less taken and you'll have faster job security.
I have good skills in python and splunk and google certificate. What else should I do besides the cloud security skills to get an entry level job in security engineer
This is going to depend on what kind of role you decide to pursue. If you choose cloud security, begin building in the cloud and learn the security and compliance rules to building secure architecture.
Hey Nicholas, i have a few questions. So first off im 20 years old and I just dropped out of college because im extremely passionate about cybersecurity and I read a lot that college wasn’t the only route and I hated it anyways. Right now im breezing through the google cybersecurity analyst certificate program and im planning on going for sec+ as soon as im done. For me i feel i definitely want to work on the blue team side of things, do you think its worth getting the BLT1 cert? And what about network+? My goal is to develop a nice portfolio with a ton of project and some decent certs so I can ideally avoid the IT route. Is this realistic and if so, what is the route I should take? Thank you very much.
Question: would it best if I have some IT job experience to be noticeable in cybersecurity? Currently have no cybersecurity certification and looking into bug bounty for some minor padding Edit: I also did two guided projects involving both cloud (AWS and Azure)
You don't need prior IT experience to go into cybersecurity. But you need to understand the basics to systems and networking, so you can learn cybersecurity for modern environments. Cloud adoption is very big and will continue to grow over the next 10 years. This is a good place to get started.
Yeah you can! The certification is very basic in the type of information you'll learn. If you can develop a portfolio of security projects and skills you've developed and showcase that, it would be sufficient with your credentials to land a role.
Thank you for the info. I have B sc in healthcare gmt, and I dont have any any type of IT prior experience. So, Where ahould I start for cybersecurity? you mentioned sec plus & AWS in the video. Thank you
@@NicolasMoy it really sucks that the market has overly portrayed that Certs = Job opportunity, when the training within those courses to get certified never prepares anyone for said Role. Especially entry level. Like A+ curriculum teaches almost nothing about Active Directory and how important that is to have as a skill.
It’s a valuable certification to have but it’s not something that you should be considering until you are looking to become a security manager of some sort.
It's very possible, it's not impossible at all! Your age doesn't affect you working in cyber security, unless, you're very old and just have a hard time processing things and have a hard time moving etc etc. Sure. But you at 36 is definitely possible!
Watch the movie equaliser ; in it DW will say to the prostitute girl , You can become what you want to be , if you try … the girl liked music and wanted to become a singer …similarly u can at 35 still can learn IT and enter into Cyber Security, where there is a will there is a way 🎉 All the best …

Yeah if you plan on going a different route with your cybersecurity career, these certifications may or may not be applicable.

thoughts on over employment if so what are the best roles to do so
I teach overmeployment big time in my program. If you are looking to overemploy, you should check it out! I did this a lot throughout my career

Hey can we talk. We are in the same path. Age is 20 and I’m also a drop out trying for blue team.
I'm 22 skipped the college route and went hard on certs and projects, i'm working on sec+ now
Hello how can i register for this exams? Is there a link or website please help out

Will certs help if I'm looking for internship?
They can but they aren’t necessary!
Of course it can,get the most certifications. knowledge , and projects you can have

My specialties are in cloud security, application security, and devsecops.
CISSP?

That's not a beginner cert by any means, management certificate.
Good info😃👍
Glad you think so!
