I have a Masters in Cybersecurity from Western Governors University and what’s he’s saying is 100%. These employers only really care about skills. Focus on developing the right skills to do the job and you’ll be fine. Work on projects, and build a portfolio.
I am in school for Cybersecurity. I did not have the knowledge I needed about not having to go to school until fairly recently. I have 2 classes left before I graduate. I plan to finish and have the basic knowledge I need and work on the actual skills in the meantime.
I came across your UA-cam channel and it really got my attention your explanation of cyber security careers and it’s really on point. I have friends that are recruiters and the number one thing they do to filter cyber security analyst it’s not their degree but certifications like compTiA security + and skills you have to do threat hunting managing tools rather than a cyber security degree.
Hi Nicolas, I love your content. I just came across your YT channel. I was a network and voice engineer for Cisco Systems back in 2012. I've been in technology for over 2 decades now. I started back in 1996. Acquiring many certifications. (A+, Network+, Cisco CCNA & CCNP etc.) Doing everything from desktop support to network engineering. Have not worked in over 7 years now. I still love technology and very passionate about it. I'm interested in becoming a security cloud engineer. I'm studying for the AWS Solutions Architect Professional Cert. Only because I want some type of cloud cert to confirm my foundational Cybersecurity knowledge. I really want to do this. I'm 61 years old and disabled. (Using a walker) What would your advice be to a person like me? Should I pursue my dream or just throw in the towel.
It's never too late to pursue your dream! Keep an open mind and look for the right opportunities for you. I've tried to keep this in mind as I've grown in my career and it's been both very pleasant and lucrative!
Nicolas, I am in school for a Bachelors in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance. I have become interested in Cloud computing and security. what certifications and projects would you recommend for that field? Thanks for your time and well informed videos!
Wow I found this video to be extremely informative and helpful. As somebody who is not sure which route of cybersecurity to go down this video answered a lot of important questions. Thank you, and I can't wait to continue my career path!
This is not necessarily true. I will still take the traditional route. School/University is still good. I am a Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance (GRC) professional and have been for years. My education provided me the opportunity to gain the Information Security experience that I needed.
So how do you build projects with a cyber security certificate or degree? Like what would those projects look like? I know it's going to be cyber security related. Is it going to be like data related? There's very little coding
Some community colleges have hands on exp with technology and have individual i.t. classes some people dont all want to do train online some do better in a in person class and the classes are around 92. Per credit hour where im at
Yep, to each their own. But we'll see how those hands on exercises compare to the real world environments. I truly hope they are enough in preparing you for the role.
I have the same aspirated and goal set in my mind to complete and wanted to ask you with your experience is cloud computing commonly outsourced overseas? I'm considering ultimately ulizing mumy post 9/11 GI bill at WGU to obtain a degree and certifications simultaneously in Cloud computing.. however I'm on the fence about this and might go with cybersecurity instead because I believe cloud computing/engineering similar to programming/software engineer can be easily outsourced
What cyber security certification would you recommend for a technical account manager who wants to change careers and move into security. I have 20 years of it experience in dev , QA and management roles and I’m hands on with APIs and work on sass platform integrations. Thank you!
How much is cyber security course cost and how long does it take to finish. I tried submitting my application and never got a response back. You don't like my intake or something?
Python and C++. If you want to be a security engineer/penetration tester, choose Python. If you’re interested in developing new cybersecurity tools or product, choose C++.

I disagree. Engineering in technology changes to rapidly for traditional education to keep up wide scale across. The other engineering practices you referred do not change in theory or practice.
Terrible comment by viewer. Should appreciate the free advice you are getting by listening to a hiring manager tell you how to get into cybersecurity job.

The projects you work on greatly depend on the role you are trying to pursue. Identify that, then work backwards...
