    very accurate, I am a Ent Arch and just passed the CISSP. (Felt like exam covered everything in my career) I crammed for 3 weeks and got it done but a hard exam. (Lots of cloud context questions related to security.) Oh...and yes I've worked in every domain past 20+ years but not recently in security outside of ZTA

    • @GoCloudArchitects

      Congratulations on passing the exam.
      I agree the CISSP touches many of the technology domains of an enterprise architect not just a security architect.
      I remember when I first took CISSP training over 20 years ago there were Chief Technology Officers, attorneys, security architects and so many others in attendance.
      At that point I was early into my enterprise architect career - and it helped me realize the scope necessary for a large enterprise architecture or even a large security architecture. As I realized the kind of people, and the scope of information needed for proper planning. Preparing for the exam helped me learn how much I needed to learn about planning. It was getting those planning skills that really helped my career.
      That’s another reason I have always appreciated this exam.
      So I completely agree with you.

    I just started studying for this. It is intimidating in its scope, but it really helps to pull everything that I have learned so far together. I just get tripped up by some of the terminology being inconsistent with what I have encountered in the past.
    Any chance that you will be releasing a bootcamp on this one soon?

    • @GoCloudArchitects

      I like to say anything worth doing is a bit intimidated.
      That’s why this exam is so powerful. Most won’t attempt it due to its scope. So when you pass the exam you stand out.
      We do a tremendous number of free certifications on this channel. We have another one coming soon too in security.
      But we keep the CISSP inside of our paid architecture programs. It’s one of the many things we do to make sure our students have a major competitive advantage over others in the industry

      Being part of this program at Go Cloud makes it more exciting to go ahead and take this cert. I've been going through the cissp content, and it's not fare from what we do in the program. I'm so happy I've joined this.

      To transition from one career to another takes training for you to get the right skills.
      Which is what I did when I left internal medicine for tech 25 years ago.
      So first we need to determine which career you desire in security. As they have different skills. Meaning a secure engineer needs different skills than a security architect etc
      If you desire to become a security architect join us for a free webinar. We hold a weekly webinar and we discuss various architecture careers and we will answer any career questions you may have
      www.gocloudarchitects.com/the-ultimate-cloud-architect-webinar/
      We also have a security architect program you can see here

    They need to lower the barrier to entry. You can barely get an entry level position without getting the CISSP. Either that, or the training needs to be more direct.

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  7 днів тому +1

      I always describe the CISSP as my favorite intro to Security
      Truthfully, the CISSP plus other training is the bare minimum of skills necessary to hire someone
      But I’m not sure we need a lower barrier to entry. The real problem is we need people with better skills.
      And yes, most people have training problems.
      We have been re-training people who received inadequate and ineffective training. As soon as we train them they have no problems getting hired.
      But our security programs include 1000 hours
      They also cover our favorite certifications to CISSP, CCSP, CISM
      And we cover the rest of the security architect career skills not covered in these certificates
      But there are an incredible number of jobs for those with the correct skills And it’s incredibly easy to get them but the right skills are required

      @@GoCloudArchitects I think clarity is so important in this field. The amount of people trying to get in are learning not only want employers require, but also the actual skills that are required before they even apply for jobs. I've taken this path and it's been a year, and I'm still learning what I need, and don't need. Hopefully, I can transition this into interviews soon. Not to mention keeping up with trends, and things happening in the OWASP, and MITRE areas.

    • @GoCloudArchitects

      Here is the real problem.
      People are not learning the skills employer require.
      People are learning the skills they THINK employers require but they are not the skills employers actually want or need
      Come to one of our free questions and answer sessions and we can guide you on your career
      Or come to one of our live zoom webinars and tell us your goals.
      We can give you a mini interview and see what you know and recommend what’s needed for you to get to your goals. The webinar is free and the link is in the description of this video

    What's your take on the CISM certification?

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  29 днів тому

      I like the CISM. I think it’s an excellent certification for Security architects and security managers
      I’m actually teaching a free CISM Boot Camp on this UA-cam channel at the end of the month
      Here is the link if you would like to join.

    As a Solution Architect in the security space, would you recommend CCSP first (since it seems a lot more relevant to Cloud Security), or CISSP for the market value?

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  Місяць тому

      I recommend CISSP and teach it to our architects.
      The CCSP is very basic. It’s a good supplement to the CISSP but the CCSP is no where close to enough on its own.

      Microsoft SC100, AWS Security and GCP Security Engineer give more knowledge to secure the cloud than CCSP.

      Cissp would not be what you're looking for. It's a managerial based cert really. It takes a box off for most organizations cuz to have it means you at least have 5 years of experience, and then you understand big picture items. But it does not great you skills to use in the workplace. You looking for more of a an azure administrator or solutions architect for both Azure and Or AWS.

    I studied for the exam, it does not give me practical skills needed on my job as a Cloud Security Engineer. Certs like Microsoft SC100, AWS Security, OSCP for Penetration Testers are more applicable on the job

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  27 днів тому +2

      I understand your perspective.
      This is not a hands on certification. It’s an architecture and executive certification and architects and executives - and we don’t touch the technology
      This exam is not meant for hands on technician work. It’s meant for tech strategy.
      Now I have seen this be a major help to security engineers. Especially, the higher paid engineers who are less hands on and more planners. But this is not an exam that teaches how to do the junior engineering work of configuration etc.
      There are lots of technician certifications like the AWS advanced security for hands on security admin people. If that type of admin work is what someone desires then hands on certifications are great.
      But if one is looking for the higher paying architect roles which is our specialty then they will need to know the security concepts and business aspects not how to configure etc. Which is why CIOs, CISOs and security architects love this certification.

    High level. But no real world skills from this cert imo.

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  Місяць тому +3

      That is a fair observation. CISSP isn’t designed to teach real world technical skills.
      It is more about understanding cybersecurity principles and practices at a strategic level.
      Besides that, it is often seen as a stepping stone to leadership roles rather than a purely technical certification.
