Really enjoy watching your videos Brad, love the quality, the sound, the total friendship among you guys! And by the way the phrase in the bottle at 03:57 says: For those who cry today at night. To all, the light, to all, everything... beautiful quote...
It was nice meeting you, I see you got my big truck in the back ground at the end. Nice video. I would love to join you guys out there one of these days. Very awesome
Such a cool coincidence meeting up with you! I told my son we had to get one shot of your rig in the background. Thanks for the support and would love to have you wheel with us some time!
great video once again. I'm jealous of all the cool places you got out there to wheel. I'm also excited to see the xj on the trail I'm a wrangler guy but had an xj before and have a soft spot for them as well.
Ran VOTM this weekend and note that CBP is watching the first section a lot. A Boarder Agent gave us a hell of a hard time about driving near the fence. "I don't give a f*** about what it says on the internet about this trail, don't drive near the fence. I'm tired of all you dam off roaders thinking you can just go where you want." is the colorful feedback we received. He very firmly "suggested" we use the main trail head off the 8 / Old HW80 and then take the gravel road that leads slightly west and then directly south to get to the west trail entrance for VOTM. Just wanted to drop an update based on the recent experience. Thanks Brad and TR team, love the vids.
Awesome video brad! Hey, I assume you passed the test yesterday, so now we are fellow Hams! Hahha. For anyone interested, There will be a run of this same trail next sunday the 12th. If anyone wants to sign up, you can do it at the San diego 4 wheelers website, I'll be the first time I do this trail, should be loads of fun!!
Great video and commentary. I really enjoyed this one. Quick question though..... Do you guys not disconnect your sway bar links? I noticed most did not in the video.
Mannnn. Great video bro. I wish and hope to meet up with jeepers like your club. That sure looks amazing. I might have to make a cross country trip to meet up with you guys.
Any idea what the white Jeep with the orange powder coat has for rock rails? They look kind of like GenRight but I'm not sure given the pattern on top. They look awesome!
Brad really enjoy your material. I am really eager to tackle some of the trails you shoot but my jeep is currently stock. Would it be a good idea to ride the Vly of the Moon trail? Or should I wait till I equip my stock wrangler?.
Most important thing is always go with a buddy, plan your route, make sure you have essentials loaded up (water, food, recovery gear), and know your vehicle and driver capability limits.... just have fun!
Thanks - my 11 yr old and I started watching the XJ playlist last night he really enjoyed it. But I'm guessing to do any real "trails" a stock GC '14 WK2 would need at least a 3+ in lift and better tires?
Great video, love your channel! Are you still running the budget boost lift with shocks, or switched to something else? Wondering how it compares on some of these more technical runs with the other lifts I see on the other jeeps in the videos.
This was really good! I had no idea that trail even existed. I don't have a Jeep and it doesn't look like a Subaru could handle that one... but maybe a dual sport trip! Nice job!
@@TrailRecon what about with a 2"-lifted 6-cyl Subaru Outback, fully armored with skidplates, brush guards, bumper guards, and a set of Falcon Wildpeaks? Still a no-go?
Nice work- Looks like you're hitting your stride! Sounds like you have the gain too high on your mic and it's clipping. I get that if I have the gain too high on my preamp or if I boost the voiceover more than 6db in the edit. If you're trying to talk over the music, try lowering the music instead.
After seeing this and other videos I thought this would be a great place to explore. With a little more research, however, I discovered that the Valley of the Moons is actually in The Jacumba Wilderness, where motor vehicles are prohibited. Looks like driving to Elliot Mine is fine, but the Valley is not - the wilderness boundary is just east of the mine according to on-line BLM maps (and Gaia GPS). Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks! I would say you could, but you will be scraping bottom a lot through some of the sections if you don't have a lift..... go with a buddy for sure!
does he sell these? or willing to take a custom order? How do i get in contact if he has a shop? Very much appreciate the quick replies. Also, big fan. Everything about this channel is what all off roading channels should be
The first VOTM video was good. The Return video just knocked it out of the park. Well done TrailRecon two thumbs up
Thanks! I had to go back and see if I could represent the trail little better. Appreciate it!

Thank you very much!
That is amazing, what beautiful views. Great video, thanks for sharing as always.
Another great video Brad. Thanks again, we had an awesome time.
Always a great time with you guys out there!
Very nice video, The Valley of the moons trail looks like a lot of fun !!

Thanks! Hoping to get the XJ on the trail soon... still a few more things to do before she's ready.
Looks like a really fun time I gotta get out there someday
Great video! Just added that trial to my bucket list. Great footage and editing too.
Bucket list trail for sure! Thanks!

Definitely going to check it out!!!
Great video, I love this trail and I know that Joe C. is a well qualified leader on Valley of the Moons. Good TImes!
Joe knows that trail forwards and back.... love VOTM! Thanks!
That's some crispy, clear video!
Thank you!
Planning on heading there Sunday with some buddies , wish you could join us Brad, wish I had details on that trail you guys did
Great video and trail. Thanks for sharing!
Best one yet Brad, great job
Thank you! Really appreciate it!
This trail is even better at night!
Amen!
Great to see people using Jeeps the right way👌🏾I’m sure everyone had to top off the tanks because mileage is poor though
what a beautiful day.
A great day on the trail for sure!

Great video, I bet some of those climbs are a lot steeper than they look on camera. Good looking trail.
that looks like fun.
A whole lotta fun!
Great video and commentary. I really enjoyed this one. Quick question though..... Do you guys not disconnect your sway bar links? I noticed most did not in the video.
Most of us have Rubicon's, so just push a button. Thanks!
Hey if you get a vanity call sign, I suggest to get W6MUD hahaha, would go really well with your plates, :-D, and this one is available too!
That's a great idea... will have to grab that!
Another top notch production from TrailRecon!
Mannnn. Great video bro. I wish and hope to meet up with jeepers like your club. That sure looks amazing. I might have to make a cross country trip to meet up with you guys.
Thank you! Come on out... everyone is welcome with the San Diego Jeep Club!
TrailRecon no doubt brother. When I am ready maybe we can set something up. That would be a trip off a life time for me.
Any idea what the white Jeep with the orange powder coat has for rock rails? They look kind of like GenRight but I'm not sure given the pattern on top. They look awesome!
Aaron Mitti They're CRC sliders. It's Casey Curries product line.
John West cool, thanks man
Brad really enjoy your material. I am really eager to tackle some of the trails you shoot but my jeep is currently stock. Would it be a good idea to ride the Vly of the Moon trail? Or should I wait till I equip my stock wrangler?.
Been in there several times. Lots of geocaches to find, too. BTW, it's called Valley of the Moon (singular).
Singular.... go it.... I blame all my friends for calling it moons!
The Trail is officially called Valley of the Moon but Valley of the Moons is way cooler and in our group that is what we call it.
Awesomeness as usual Brad!!!!!!
can we get a walk-around vid of that white/yellow jeep?
He has a few more mods to do before he says we can film it... soon I hope!
PLEASE do a video on the grey Hard Rock with Nemesis flares
great video Chief!
Thank you!
all i can think about is how unsecure our border is hahaha
Great vid... what size lift and tires does the silver 4door rubicon have? Looks very close to stock..
Tks
Looks like so much fun. Any recommendations for a new jeep owner(2014 grand Cherokee limited and getting to the trails for the first time?
Most important thing is always go with a buddy, plan your route, make sure you have essentials loaded up (water, food, recovery gear), and know your vehicle and driver capability limits.... just have fun!
Thanks - my 11 yr old and I started watching the XJ playlist last night he really enjoyed it.
But I'm guessing to do any real "trails" a stock GC '14 WK2 would need at least a 3+ in lift and better tires?
Great video! Looks like that GoPro stabilizer/handle thing is working out well. What microphone are you using for your voice over work?
Thanks! The stabilizer is very nice. I just have a cheap snowball mic, need to upgrade.
Awesome video!
Thank you!
Great video, love your channel! Are you still running the budget boost lift with shocks, or switched to something else? Wondering how it compares on some of these more technical runs with the other lifts I see on the other jeeps in the videos.
Thank you! Yes, still on the budget boost, but hoping to upgrade this year. Ridden in a few other Jeeps and my ride is not as smooth on the trail.
For this trail you come in through old highway 80 then head towards Elliot mine?
We don't have a 4x4 vehicle, we have an off-road Tacoma with high clearance and wheel lockers. Do you think we can make it?
Nice video and great trail!
Great weather and 👍 FUN
How far from home to there?
Weather was perfect. It's in Jacumba which is only about a 90 minute drive... worth it!
Beautiful
One of my favorite trails!
Never been able to find the end of the route sign, where is it coming down from Elliotts mine?
Do you guys ever use intelligent flight modes for the phantom or just manual controls?
Hey how does the metalcloak and evo coilover compare to each other? Do you have a favorite?? Thanks!
This was really good! I had no idea that trail even existed. I don't have a Jeep and it doesn't look like a Subaru could handle that one... but maybe a dual sport trip! Nice job!
It's great trail! Not sure I'd try to tackle it with a Subaru. Thanks!
@@TrailRecon what about with a 2"-lifted 6-cyl Subaru Outback, fully armored with skidplates, brush guards, bumper guards, and a set of Falcon Wildpeaks? Still a no-go?
BRAD HI !
IF THE WALL GETS PUT UP WILL IT MESS UP SOME OF THE TRAILS YOU USE ?
Awesome video man
Nice work- Looks like you're hitting your stride! Sounds like you have the gain too high on your mic and it's clipping. I get that if I have the gain too high on my preamp or if I boost the voiceover more than 6db in the edit. If you're trying to talk over the music, try lowering the music instead.
You think I’ll have any issues doing this trail in my full size bronco with a 2.5 lift?
After seeing this and other videos I thought this would be a great place to explore. With a little more research, however, I discovered that the Valley of the Moons is actually in The Jacumba Wilderness, where motor vehicles are prohibited. Looks like driving to Elliot Mine is fine, but the Valley is not - the wilderness boundary is just east of the mine according to on-line BLM maps (and Gaia GPS). Can anyone confirm this?
Correct. Some areas out there are wilderness. Gaia is a good guide to keep you on the right side of things.
Great video, Can someone make this trail in a stock Jeep Rubicon...?
I really like your videos...
Thanks! I would say you could, but you will be scraping bottom a lot through some of the sections if you don't have a lift..... go with a buddy for sure!
pretty views man
The views on this trail never get old!
Very cool trail where do you go to get to the entrance of it? I love to go to this trail.
Yo...
Did u ever make it out there?
My friend Jon Conklin made the waterfall at 3:10
Gotta lmk wen u go again… always better going w/ someone who knows.
what are the fenders on the white jeep with yellow accents. i need them
They are custom carbon fiber fenders... he owns his own shop and these are a project he has been working on. Very nice!!
does he sell these? or willing to take a custom order? How do i get in contact if he has a shop? Very much appreciate the quick replies. Also, big fan. Everything about this channel is what all off roading channels should be
Also the grey rubicon with the blue coilovers. Are those the Nemesis fenders on that jeep? they look just like them.
It's called Valley of the Moon (singular). Really, it should be "Valleys", b/c there are many little ones.
That fence is so pretty!
Would this be a good trail for a beginner?
@2:14 the guy almost flopped!
By chance do you have a GPX file of your loop?
would you say it was ok for stock jeep
Every jeep in this vid is an unlimited
We had a yellow LJ on the trail as well
How long did that trail take???
If you are in a small group and rush through it, you can probably knock it out in 3- 4 hours. We usually take our time and enjoy it.
How could someone find this trail lol
great video but looks like jeep builds only those with a lot of money can enjoy
You should be carrying a little fire power don`t want the Boogie man getting in your way.
Doubt there are footprints going in both directions. 🙄
wow what an awesome trail, so scenic! any see any illegals?
The views the whole way are great. We've only come across the Boarder Patrol while out there.
