Growing up we had a 1957 two door wagon and when I was 12 or 13 I wanted it so bad. Always love the forward flipping hood.

This was always my favorite childhood car. We had a white 2 door 58 ranch wagon in 1960. I was 8. My best family vacation memories were in this car. It had a police interceptor engine and 3 speed on the column. In Oklahoma I was accidentally left at a gas station. When mom discovered I was missing dad turned that thing around over the turnpike median. Mom said when he dropped it in 3rd gear he was doing 92. For the trip dad put the seat down, put a mattress in the back for me and my sister. She also made curtains for the side rear windows to keep it cooler. I always preferred the 58 dual headlights and dual taillights over the 57 and 59. Very T-Birdish.

Still a nice Looking vehicle, I always loved the old Ford’s. The only bad thing was the bodies always rusted over the headlights, same with the mid fifties Chevrolet’s. My 1st car was the family 1956 2 door he ro

That's a beautiful wagon, love that light blue color, everybody loves the 50s Chevys, but personally I think the 1950s fords are much cooler.

"Not Worth Much"? are you nuts? That car is just as popular with Ford lovers, as a Nomad is to Chevy lovers. The condition is incredible !

The car looks good, with the right tires, wheels, an overall lower stance, and suspension upgrades, it will be a great hot rod. And the Thunderbird 390 and 4 speed is already fun. The fact that it was a California car with no rust makes it rare. It will be a desirable ride.

I like some of your idea's for mods, but your lack of appreciation for a part of automotive history slays me. The two-door ranch wagon was only built for a couple years. Which is what makes it a rare car in the first place, especially when you're considering looking at the car's in its current condition. And at the car shows it'll get more than a few head turns.

Love that '58. For what your planning on doing with the front suspension and brakes, consider locating some Grenada spindles and disk brakes. Also, Aerostar springs work wonders on these early Fords - both in ride quality and handling. Couple the springs with the spindles and you can get up to a 2.5" drop in the front.. you will need to ream the spindle for the lower ball joint, and depending on how much you team it will determine the amount of lowering you get.
    Some more info for you:

I look forward to seeing your progress on the wagon.

    Hello
I picked up a 58 wagon last summer as well and have been working on it over the winter, My car did not have any of the park brake parts in it and the lines are cut in the back, So I do not know where the lines run or how long they should been or what other pasts are needed. I did find and buy a restored park brake leaver for inside the car, but that is as far as I have gotten so far. Thanks for your time and any info you give me.

Everything you're doing sounds great. Replace the trim, give it a new two color paint job, replace the upholstery, throw on a set of Kelsey- Hayes wires and some 2" whitewalls and hit the road. ooooh baby!!! Best of Luck.

I like your idea to bring the 2tone back, but the paint cleaned up decently and a full repaint wasn't in the budget$$$.
Anyway, that's up to the new owner in Nevada!

I think that engine needs to have the exhaust opened up and more free flowing for the other mods you're thinking of to work. Do a little research from that era. If I remember right, it was a necessity. I think they opened the exhaust valves also. Then the 390 would pick up alot of power. My first car was a '58 Ford 4dr woodie, so yours makes my heart ache with envy. Great find. The eyebrows on mine were already rusting out in 1964, so yours is amazing. I think that being a 2dr and with a 4spd, Ford guys should go as nuts as any Chevy guys with their No Mads. Definately get a dual master cylinder. Ours sprung a leak once on a long, nasty twisting hill. Pretty scary when they all go out. Also, they leaned like the Queen Mary on turns. I don't know, but I doubt they had any sway bars up front. Have fun. Any updates yet?
