Yes the Pixies are old now but this still gave me goosebumps. I first saw them 25 years ago and then they were awesome. I guess with all live concerts you just had to be there.

I wouldn’t! Any song I would write I’d be happy to perform anytime I would be on stage. It’s a damn honor performing in front of people not to mention thousands attending your show to hear these songs. It should be a blast no matter how long you sing a song for.
@@lottostuuud I have heard interviews of some singers who say they get really tired of being singing the same songs over a over again but sometimes they want to have the public happy and that's sad because they ain't feel connected with those songs anymore and it is just sort of a mechanical act
Post blue yeah like There was a point where Lemmy hated singing Ace of Spades but he said that why should I feel like this if every person loves that song and they want to hear it I’m playing it. He was very humble and that’s the type of stuff I’m talking about.
It is his Job to sing. When he is tired of the song, the Pixies should play other songs.

I was there for this, it was absolutely incredible and this video does not do it justice at all. Such a special moment.

Am I the only one who kinda loves this still because it is so gentle and reminds me of a summer sunset.
The first time I heard this song, I was walking on the street with friends in the middle of the night, and this song came to me from a bar which was on a second floor, instantly I felt very attracted to that sound, it was unique, different, so that bar, was on another planet and the people there were actually no people. But I was with friends going somewhere else and we kept moving, but only my body I must say. If I wondered then "where is my mind", it was in that bar.
A special moment!
Such a great combination of soft and hard. The acoustic guitar, the falsetto wails, then the electrifying distorted hook and chorus. It’s all a metaphor for our adult lives we struggle with as every day people.

I don't know why people are mocking this performance but for me this sounded absolutely perfect and just retells the story of the song in the eyes of older.

People are mocking this performance because look up any other live performance of this song...and it's better. This is literally the worst Pixies version of this song on UA-cam. It's just really surprising considering the venue too.
douglasadams It's a combination of things. The mix is pretty awful, which isn't their fault, but Francis' vocals have been more on point, and the "ooh"s dont sound right without Kim. Just my two cents.

I love the Pixies. I even named my cat after them. I know there's no Kim Deal but this woman is trying her best. Black Francis does NOT look healthy. When you are healthy and feeling good you play better. He needs to get healthy and lose some weight too. It also appears they had a GREAT CROWD that was even helping them out at the end. Thats so cool. I believe they can recover from this. )

I saw Pixies several days ago before Glastonbury, at INmusic festival in Croatia, and trust me they were amazing, these recordings are boring. To be honest, they are very bored when performing this song, but all other masterpieces live are just WOW, you must see that!

I also saw Pixies before Glastonbury as Jasterrrr, in Warsaw. They were really amazing. I don't think that they are getting too old for playing, it's just that performence in my opinion.

Love this version too. More subtle and low key and has a nice smooth flow to it. Love the original near manic tone to the song though and do kinda miss that. Great band regardless.

Elton John does the same for example when he did "your song" he played it and sang it at a different pace it was still great but I prefer the original but if they can pull it off good for them if not then oh well.

No one better on the bass than Kim Deal for that "Pixies sound". The best bands, the ones that influence a generation of musicians, are the ones where if some member drops, normally the band particular sound finishes. The Pixies RIP when Kim left. (In my opinion,. Maybe because I love to see Kim playing.......

I dunno, both the replacements currently in use are ok. Paz Lenchantin and Simon Archer. Better then Kim Shattuck, that was kinda like The Pixies trying to recapture a youth that they really can never get back kinda thing imo. She was way to "punk rock" for them as they are today.
