Welcome back to a series we call “That Cost How Muuuuch?!”. As the title suggests, this is a series where we look at products that literally make ourselves ask “that cost how much???” and figure out if we can essentially DIY them for a lesser price.
In today’s video, I am going to be DIYing some highly requested projects! The Bookworm Bookshelf by Kartell is a home decor piece we've wanted to make for a while now, so we finally decided to tackle it! Next is a pendant light from CB2, the Bruno Light. It's absolutely stunning but it is also $699 and while she's gorgeous...that's a bit too much in my opinion.
Let us know your final thoughts on how you think these projects turned out!

Honestly, just the addition of edge banding on the lampshades is a great hack for making super-simple lampshades look more expensive.
yah literally even if it was just one, and not tiered!!! sooo cute
Bsnm😊
On the lamp: I fully expected Rachel to pop in to create it😂.
@@MBMCincy63 LOL
I think it would be cool to cover the shelves on the bookshelf with dust/book jackets, so that it gives the illusion the books are floating!
Genius
haha i thought of that too!! would look so cool!
I thought she was just going to use like clear book ends
I love that you chose the cheapest way first. Even though it didn't work for the extreme curves, where it didn't break demonstrated you could still do this in a smaller ripple-ly version and get a similar look if you didn't want to invest in the flex board. I hope you continue this series it is definitely one of my favorites.
yah! hoping some people even try this as a single floating shelf and not even a full wall piece! would love to see that
I adore Becky’s attitude! She is just so lighthearted, positive and fun. When there was a setback as the MDF snapped, she wasn’t remotely discouraged or even annoyed!
Yay, a that costs how muchhhh! episode once again, with BECKY!
loveee to see it!
@@brookeobscura wish I could like this more than once
I can’t get over the lamp shade. It looks the exact same. It’s proof that these companies charge extortionate prices. I’ve really missed the “that cost how much “ series. Please do more like this. Thank You. xxx
Companies like this only sell to people who are looking to spend a lot of money for something really specific. That's kind of what the sorry girls go after, I wish they liked more normal things but they choose designer stuff to replicate
Ply wood when wet and heated is bendable, we used to use it for making mock ups of sculptures in art cool.
I actually really like how it looks with the shades being different colors! It’s kind of fun that way!
Great job Beck's 🎉❤
I think the cb2 replica looks great but would be made even 'more better' if you used a rechargeable light bulb in the lowest shade so the light reaches that one too 🤩
i was trying to think of how she could put a lower light in, great idea!
Could the bookshelf have been made even more affordable if made with a thin aluminum sheet? I think the original is metal right? It would also be cool if the book support portions were covered with book covers/bindings to make everything look like it was floating.
i thought this as well but then i think it might be kind of difficult to screw it into the wall
@@rainbownarah it could just be screwed in by the shelves?
The original is by designer Ron Arad and is steel, but then Kartell bought the rights and made it out of plastic
Also you can bend MDF more easily with water, but you would have to form it on the floor to let it dry, then hang.
Back to the old school episodes! I've missed these.
Love both of the hacks. You "Sorry Girls", have helped all of us to have high end looking homes. You are more precious than gold.
I really like the slight variation of shade colors in Becky's lamp!🥰
It’s beautiful 😍
Me too!
The lamp shade is so cool! I think adding a veneer band to the inner side too would have looked really good (as the trim looks in the original CB2 one). The bookshelf looked very cool too!
becky is absolutely rocking that harness omfg. the girlboss energy
Ok, the fact that Becky made the book shelf out of wood products instead of plastic products, is awesome! (The bookshelves I looked at are plastic) She knocked it out of the park!
The lamp shades are spot on!! The only thing I would do is clean them! Stains come out easy! Still, you really couldnt see it! Thank you for these 2 amazing DIY'S! Will recreate when we move!! 😁
fun! taking it a step further and cutting the edge banding in half width wise and also wrapping them all int he same high quality linen would feel even closer!
SO IMPRESSED!!! What a privilege that I get to sit here and watch this amazing video knowing it took you guys hours to plan and accomplish and execute and film!!! You are amazing.

Okay this is good. I think the drum shade would be the hardest to get at a low price but it's hardwired giving it a finished look. Beautiful lamp. I'll never look at lampshades the same after seeing this.
You could use book covers to camouflage the wall attachement
The veneer on the lampshades look so good! I'm going to have to keep that idea in my back pocket for future decorating adventures in my own spaces
I love the lamp shade pendant. The worm bookshelf is cute to, great for a kids room.
My fav “ that cost how much “ - EVER 🥰
THAT LAMP! I'm making that!!! I Love it❤❤❤❤❤
I love this series! So fun! You recreate things I would actually make for my home! Becky, your creative eye is great!
I absolutely love the lampshade! So smart!!
Fabulous job on both items!! Who doesn't want to create the same thing for hundreds less??!! I love it!! 💜❤💜
Yay I love this series!!
we do too 🥹
You could always stain the shades with tea. Just be careful to stain evenly.
Becky, really impressive dupes. I'm impressed with how easy the lamp dupe was.
I haven’t watched ya’ll in so long 😭😭 this was very calming to watch :]
welcome back, stay a while 😘
That was amazing. Watching the Sorry Girls remake high end products cheaper is AWESOME❤❤❤🇨🇦
