Making 7 Lego Star Wars minifigures BETTER
Вставка

- In this video I’m upgrading 7 Lego Star Wars minifigures using only official Lego parts so a purist upgrade basically. Some of them are pretty straight-forward but some are more intricate like the Grievous one. Most of them are pretty easy/cheap and you can repeat after me.

So you're telling me that the official Grievous is shorter than you expected?
hahaha I see what you did there! :D
Your grevious will make a fine addition to my collection
Canon
Hahahaha that was a good one
**cough** Jedi scum!
Grevious upgrade was genius
thank you!
General grievous is Underated, which is why he's still my favorite Star Wars character.
I'm gonna be honest with you, when I saw you were doing a brick-built grievous I had my doubts but HOLY COW that looks phenomenal
Thank you! There are a few variations to this method out there too, but I like mine because it's pretty easy and stable
@@br1ckmate what if you don't have the right pieces
“Now our R2 has a 3rd leg”
Brickmate, 2024
What??
I’m personally ok with the official Bossk being regular minifigure proportions, but your upgrade to the older fig looks really great too! Also that Grievous is pure genius.
Thanks! Yeah I can see how Bossk upgrade can be considered as unnecessary but still wanted to give it a shot
The Greavos upgrade is my fave. They all look so good. The first Greavos upgrade, the second one is all right
Dude thats the best looking general grievous upgrade ive ever seen
thank you!
We all know this video is made for the Grievous upgrade
...And rightfully so
you got me haha
The fact that Bosk could be upgraded that well with official parts is so amazing, it's any wonder LEGO themselves haven't done this.
Yess, same question
That grievous figure looks fuckin awesome
Very impressed with the grievous, great work.
Thank you!
That general grievous is legendary.
The bossk arms are surprisingly good but jdk if I'm convinced with just putting 1x1s in his feet but that was really the only way to give him the extra height he needed
Yeah I'm on the fence with plates too but this was best variant, anything else looked even worse. Tbh if lego had dual molded yellow/sand green legs that'd be perfect
No idea why they don’t give the imperial officers dual-molded legs, looks so much better…
That custom Grievous torso looks so good, i especially like the neck connection
The R2 third leg is pretty common usage, still nice looking
Bossk upgrade one is unique, never seen someone adding longer arms to him
With the rest of figure, the dual molded legs are truly game changers, it's sad that LEGO uses plain ones most of the time what makes these figures less accurate
Thank you!
that general grevious build just earned you a sub- thats the best design ive ever seen for it
Thanks and welcome!
That Grevious is LEGIT
Your grievous design is pretty sick, surprisingly detailed for how few pieces you used.
Another design I've seen, which I've applied to my grievous figure was extending out all of his limbs by using a dark bluish grey droid arm on each limb, connected by clipping the joints illegally. Looks pretty menacing and gives him a better height with the extra arm piece on the legs.
That grievous build is perfect im bout to make one
lego really said "general grievious, your shorter than i expected" lol
Upgraded Grievous is so cool!
Firstly, amazing improvements!
Secondly, yeah the old Grievous torso mold is obsolete in my book. The fact that you managed to put so many details, make the figure taller, AND more poseable is phenomenal.
Thank you!
Does anyone remember the older General Grievous minifig?
yeah, lego's come a long way since then. That figure had zero printing just pure white
i love that fig lol, its so goofy
I have one but with cracked neck :x
Yes and I loved it❤❤❤
Yep. He was one of my first figures as a kid with the 2007 Soulless One. I lost him though. I think he either fell down the vent or one of my friends stole him. I'm still not sure where he ever went.
The rest are fine but the Grievous should become the official Grievous.
Thank you!
Literally tho
There should be an inverted cheese slope made just for R2's central foot
Do you think you could give me a list of the pieces you used for the grevious build? I really want to glow up my little angry cyborg man.
Yeah sure, 1x1 round plate with open stud, bar 1l with angled hollow stud, 1x1 round tile quarter, 1x1 brick with studs on 4 sides, bar 1l with 1x1 round plate with hollow stud, plate 1x1 with bar handle on long stem
@@br1ckmate holy crap thank you! I'm gonna sniff around for some website I can order these pieces from
@@PallyKalhitry bricklink
@@PallyKalhipssst...Webrick...
You NEED to make this a series.
Already cooking another one specifically for clones figures 👀
That Grievous upgrade is so perfect, I almost want to get a Grievous just to do this.
Tbh just get a knockoff it’s like 3 bucks and looks pretty similar if your on a tight bufget
That general greivus upgrade is fire 🔥
One thing that bugs me with the greivous is putting the pieces for the torso in light grey. but for the Clone Wars microseries, I feel like the light grey works better.
That grievous design looks really good! It's wild that lego still doesn't use dual molded legs for so many figures that would need them
Thank you!
The grievous is amazing!
I always thaught the ep3 lego grievous was to big like it was the same mold as for clone wars grievous. He is a bit thinner in the 3rd movie and you nailed that design🎉
Thank you!
By far, Grievous conversion is the best, thanks for showing it to me!
It is interesting to me that, for all of them I was content with the original, but then the upgraded versions just looked so much better when I saw them, and now I just prefer those.
haha sorry! :D
think they are all great, but as everyone else says, General Grievous is just awesome. I am struggling (visual impairment is worse on screens) to make out all the pieces used, can someone post a wee inventory for me, please? Love the Bossk arms and height addition.
1x1 round plate with open stud, bar 1l with angled hollow stud, 1x1 round tile quarter, 1x1 brick with studs on 4 sides, bar 1l with 1x1 round plate with hollow stud, plate 1x1 with bar handle on long stem
@@br1ckmate sweet, thank you
Grievous looks great! 🎉
Thank you! I think he's awesome too, whole new level for this fig
Your grievous is so simple yet so effective!! I’ve always thought the official one was too short. Also, for R2’s third leg, you can use a lipstick piece instead to make one that’s easier to remove
Thank you!
I love General Grievous! 😃
one of the things I didn't like about the general grevious that lego made was that you couldn't turn his head left or right but with this design you can which is really cool.
yess, hidden feature :D
W grievous, I’m gonna do it but with the tan version.
Thanks! Tan version also looks hot, make sure to use tan plates for the chest too
This is how Grevious should be done going forward. I always disliked how the extra arms are attached to the other arms.
Darnit… know I want that mando too 😢😅😂 4:29
general grievous now looks badass as hell
I can't be the only one who thought of something different when I heard "R2's third leg"
Exactly what I thought too
🌚
grievous design is AWESOME! Im getting back into lego and when I was a lot younger General Grievous was my favorite character in anything ever, the upgraded version makes his arms and body look waaay more like the movies/shows, and the new torso adds so much more play and variation with what you can do (eg: the scene where kenobi shoots him in the guts)
yess, and it also works great as display! Thanks for kind words
The upgrade on Bossk wouldn’t work if you have his most recent version, which has his toes printed on. He’d have 2 pairs of feet if I used my Bossk lol. Looks great tho. That grievous especially, just simply amazing. Seriously thinking about upgrading my grievous now
Thank you! Yeah Bossk upgrade only works with older version, also because he’s in bright yellow and long arms are available only in yellow
For r2, get rid of the stud and use the lipstick piece to attach the cheese slope. Puts it at a better angle
I agree lipstick woud probably help with the angle but can't get rid of the stud, otherwise cheese slope would not connect to the bar
i really liked that grievious
For R2, I always use 89678 (4.85 BUSH FRICTION WITH KNOB) with 54200 (ROOF TILE 1X1X2/3)
I think for the R2 upgrade, you can add a 1x2 plate to each leg so the third leg could sit flat on the ground.
I tried that and it does help a little but still overall I think it messes with the look
The "salad" green square pins on Bossk legs is a neat way to show, that he often (or never) wears shoes on his feet!
Ooookay Grievous build is insane
Agen Kolar and Saesee Tiin from the 2012 set Palpatine's arrest will also look up-to-date if you update their legs (Episode I Obi-Wan for Agen Kolar, and Episode II Anakin for Saesee Tiin).
darn, someday I'll get my hands on Palpatine's arrest
@@br1ckmate I recommend it, it's an amazing set!
Love the video. I like general grevious a lot more. Because the brick built torso reminds me more of lego. Then the first one just made me think of knock off lego.
Also i think this video was a great way to mix it up compared to the first two.
Thank you!
I wasn't *that* much into LEGO Star Wars when sets with Grievous were around and it kinda hurts me 😅, but if LEGO releases something with him in 2025 (Revenge of the Sith 20th anniversary), I'll certainly do your modification
I so hope they do, RoTS sets can be insane if they put in the effort
@@br1ckmate there's strong potential for at least 4 dioramas: Palpatines arrest/I am the senate, Mustafar duel/highground, Obi-Wan vs Grievous/hello there, Execute order 66
I know its not official lego but I bought 2 fake ones in a nock off battle pack for $20 on amazon and it came with like 20 something various droids, most of which are indistinguishable from Lego. the quality of the Grevious figures is slightly lower but honestly they're almost indistinguishable
@@br1ckmateI love star wars and I got 5 Lego Star Wars sets. Amazing builds
I like the R2-D2 custom 😃👍.
Thanks! Credit to whoever came up with this, I don't remember where I saw it first honestly
These all look amazing!! Especially General Grievous!
Lol third leg
xD
Woah, that grievous is just incredible! And youre really pickinv up now, flad to see your incredible designs get more steam :)
that grievous is fire
Thank you!
okay, to be honest this Grievous looks much MUCH better than what i expected, and now i need it, but i can't afford a new grievous figure and my current one has a lot damaged printing and loose parts :(
The R2 upgrade is something I've always done for my astros. But it does bother me that it doesn't meet the ground fully. Great upgrades all around though, especially grievous.
Thanks!
2:41 Not a problem, you just need two 1x2 white plate for each of the side legs and your done
A white lipstick peice would be better for r2
For R2’s third leg I use the cheese slope and 1x1 round plate with hole too, but instead of the short bar I use the lipstick minifigure accessory. Looks pretty much the same as your version, but I think it’s a cool alternative if you only have the lipstick piece.
that's a great idea, I've heard it reduces the gap between R2's body and open stud, because with my method there is teeny tiny gap there, but I don't have a lipstick piece :p
I prefer to use a half-pun with a stud on the end, with a cheese slope on the stud, then inserted in the peg hole, as this is what LEGO uses in the games, and works well.
@@WazzpinatorReviews-or1zbthis only works on older R2s body if I’m not mistaken
That Grievous looks awesome, great video! For my R2 I use 24246 & 32828 and from the side this looks pretty cool. It also flattens to nearly any surface as you can rotate the tile. Might be worth trying.
Thanks! Just tried 24246 & 32828, looks cool too!
One thing to (hopefully) make R2's third leg flush: Add two 1x2 whit plates to R2's Feet.
tried that, he looks too high/bulky :(
@@br1ckmate fair
@br1ckmate you can use that pin thing with the stud on the top then a white stud then a white cheese slope
@@br1ckmateoh wait you did that
This video popped out on my main page an I don't regret watching it. When you were editing captain Antilles I looked randomly on my LEGO shelf and noticed the guy from dinosaur skeletons set has exact those dual-molded legs and I can actually make the modification myself, thank you :D
you are most welcome! :D
The modifications on the figures make them all look so much better, they’re really impressive!, also I know it technically doesn’t connect, but you can use a curved tooth piece to make R2’s middle leg sit flat on the ground,
thank you! Will try the tooth method for sure!
I used the same legs you used for the mandalorian commando for my cad bane minifig from set 8128, funny to see that
Ohh yes, I imagine how they'd work great on him too
For R2D2 technic "shaft-pin" could do as a replacement for that black part, I think.
Love these cool ideas! Inspirational
OMG dude you are so good, im big fan of lego SW and its crazy 🔥🔥🔥
+ Grievous is my fav ❤ I will change my General for a BETTER one 😎
Thank you!
We Need an R2 droid whit the head that can turn
That would be amazing!
The arms for the mandolorian look incredible! I’m going to have to get more of that figure for more custom stuff
nice job man i love the general grivious
Thank you!
You are forgetting about how R2 can swivel his head 360 degrees. How would you go about fixing that?
A circle two by two piece with one stud on top.
haven't found any good looking solution for that yet unfortunately
@@br1ckmate Oh. That's ok.
Maybe that piece with one of the taller versions of that underneath it that has the Technic pinholes on both sides they used for Chopper (plus one or two of the regular flat 2x2 round plates)@@RevelationWitten
3:52 Another good choice are the legs from Bad Batch minifigures and pearl dark gray arms, it gives it a more modern look.
agreed! Might try that out
some really good mods!
I need to make general grievous but there’s 3 pieces I don’t have
Same here bro ;(
You do good work.
There is a piece I might use to replace the Grievous neck hinge that would allow his head to move up and down but not shift to side.
Piece no: 26047
I think this will offset the neck too much
Please do magna guards!! that grievous looks amazing
That's the one I was planning to do actually :)
2:33 what kind of third leg🤨🧐
To be fair, the grievous figure is slouched over. He usually is.
😭😭😭😭😭 I have all the pieces for the Grievous mod but no Grievous lol he'd make a fine addition to my collection the next set i'll get him in. With the R2 try using the bar Tooth Piece in white it has a curve to it and is quite short
LOVE IT!
Thank you!
I like the old old grievous figure.
OKAY OKAY I SEE YOU
Nice upgrades
Thanks!
For R2 an old hack I know is to cut (!) a lightsaber piece and use the bigger end to attach that cheese slope. It lines up perfectly
Extreme solution haha 😆
No. That's illegal.
Nice work
thank you!
@@br1ckmate you'r welcome
This is awesome
thank you!
Спасибо за видео! Сделал такого же Гривуса вообще хайп👍
You are welcome! :)
I realize that i only have one of these sets and its the mandalore one with darth maul n-stuff
You should do a custom batman beyond
might give it a try!
like your vids bro btw i was on of your 503th sub if i remeber correct and i have seen evry long form vid from you
Thanks mate!
@@br1ckmate np and if i had general greavus i would have done it
That grievous is awesome and I thought mine was good
Thank you! Yours looks great too, buff one :D
Thank you youtube algorithm lol making this upgrade for grievous now! Subscribed!! :)
Thank you and welcome! :)
Recommendation for if you do more building vids like this, to ease the monotony of watching you build the figure bit by bit, id say either show a before and after or a stop motion where you add each part without moving the build with each part lined up in front as you add them. that way its easier to see what parts are getting added and are not obscured by your hands. Not intended to be a mean comment just potential idea! :)
