Palantir was showing the predictions of the future that Sauron showed. First the burning of the King's tree on top of Minas Tirith that gets its leaves back once the king of Gondor returns. Second one is the burning of the shire which was skipped in the movies but is an event at the end of the books.
There's also a part in the movie which shows Hobbits being worked as slaves and Saruman also mentions that "the old world will burn on the fires of industry". But yes, the war on the Shire with Sharkey was left out from the movies.

Maybe it would look stupid, but I'm imagining the taller minifig legs for Sauron, and I think it would have been awesome if they included both regular, and those long legs, just as an option, and in case people wanted to have him in a battle scene, he really should tower above other figures. I also would've liked his helmet/armor mold to have been painted.
There’s something so wholesome with Sauron just sitting down at a table with the Mouth and five other orcs and just eating some food together. But neglecting that, it is nice that they included a Sauron mini figure since it’s implied in the books that he had a form like that during the time of LOTR. The difference in design between the two towers over a decade apart shows how much they have improved. Barad-dur looks so much better and the detail and color choices among the whole set really makes it feel more alive.
I wasn’t planning on getting this set and I still prefer Rivendell. But I’m liking this more than I thought I would. I just don’t know where I’m going to put it 😅
19:40 This palantir is actually almost exactly like the one from the Gandalf vs Saruman set, but in that set you get a cool eye of Sauron minifigure head.
I guess...it mostly just gives me hope that Minas Tirith is truly on the way as he fits better . But the leader of the Nazgul definitely fits in a Barad-Dur set.
I do have an issue with the writing here. Lego seems to have made up their own runic alphabet that looks roughly similar to English - it’s not Cirth, or Angerthas, or anything Tolkien created.
just finished barad dur. it’s a phenomenal build and displays so well. everyone who’s seen it so far can’t stop looking at it and playing around with the throne, and the eye. sauron is amazing and gothmog is a awesome figure. i missed out on GWP but heavily considering buying aftermarket. hopefully lego green lit some more LOTR projects internally with the excellent sales of barad dur.

@@xbwkaosxnsh188 Its not only the price. The point is that the Quality of this set is bad. And the point is that Lego is only able to release such bs sets because of fanboys like u.
Just impressive. As an adult, I would rather buy one very large, expensive set with decorative value than several small ones that look like a toy. This set combines the two things I love: display features and playability with minifigs.
Day 1 pickup for me. I love how in one of the shots you took it looks like the eye is glowing but is really just legos amazing work using different colors by the eye.
The sets being expensive makes sense when you think about it, the LOTR movies are over 20 years old now and the books 70 and (until very recently) there hasn't been any new LOTR media. SO most people buying these would be older anyway (25-40) so "play-sets" are probably not going to reach a big enough market. This older market has the money to drop on such indulgences.
Yes, of course! Anyone over 20 automatically has loads of disposable cash, and endless space! That makes sense. I'd forgotten that. Everywhere I look people are asking for affordable, smaller lotr sets. Also, the Hobbit movies came out 10 years ago.
Love how you didnt recommend people buy multiple of these for the taller tower and instead wait for brickable etc, thanks for looking out for us while still reviewing great Lego sets!
It's complete unacceptable that LEGO would put stickers in a set this expensive. Pain in the butt factor of applying them perfectly aside, this is a collectors set which is meant to stay on people's shelves for years and years. Stickers will decay and fade naturally over time (especially in higher humidity environments) which completely undermines the fact that this is supposed to be a display piece. Stickers as a whole are just a dark shadow that looms over LEGO they just won't drop, all in the name of slightly increased profits.
I prefer the old gollum because his hands let you place the ring on it like other minifigures, while with this one you can only clip it on sideways. The new one's fine though.
I haven’t fully seen LOTR but this set is epic. The figures are just dope and I hope LEGO makes some affordable sets for this theme especially introducing all those new accessories.
i wish lego would give us an option to upgrade their display sets. i'd happily pay an extra $20-$100 (depending on the set) to get printed pieces instead of stickers
I hope that white tree is perhaps a nod to the next big LoTR set… man I would EASILY drop $800 or more for Minas Tirith. It give it everything it deserves it could honestly be the biggest lego set ever.
@@GoatzombieBubba Yes, but Barad-Dur is not in perfect scale, makers even said that you could buy another set to make it higher like in movies. Another thing is that Orthang would be just tower like the older set and Barad-Dur has also many pieces used at the bottom of the build, i think they should cost similar and has similar amount of brics.
One criticism: I think, Sam & Frodo should have new (more accurate to the scene) torso & head prints (dirtier/ more tired faces, and appropriate, ragged outfits) and also would be cool if it included chest plates for them to disguise into. But apart from that the set is pretty sick!
The movies never show any characters going to Barad Dur, (except for Gollum I guess) and we never see the inside. I don't think the Minifigures are meant to reflect characters that went to the location, they're just cool LOTR figures

There's so much potential for the LoTR line of lego that I really hope they capitalize on.
I would love a Lego Minas Tirith!
14:49 😂😂😂😂 HAHAH that the hints gollum shouted when he was being tortured lool 😂
It’s interesting that the Easter egg in Rivendell was the eye of Sauron and we got barad dur. Does the spider Easter egg mean we get shelob next?
Prob minas tirith, since there is a easter egg of it
Or Even Edoras
Didn't saw a edoras easter egg
We've already gotten Shelob
Minas Tirith
Great review I enjoyed it a lot! Very calm, detailed while entertaining at the same time.
I know it’s not Canon, but I’d LOVE to get a Shadow of Mordor/Shadow of War themed set, get Talion, Ratbag, Celebrimbor, etc etc
I guarantee you that these figs will be worth more together than the set itself
No seriously!!
Wish it had more figures it basically has 8 due to the 2 repeats, especially for the price
I really wished they made a unique witch king as well as sauron. That would’ve been amazing
@@Ky-xm7tcdoesn‘t fit, though
I guess...it mostly just gives me hope that Minas Tirith is truly on the way as he fits better . But the leader of the Nazgul definitely fits in a Barad-Dur set.
so excited! just sold my spiderman bridges for this. Had a complete bridge sealed and and partial one. Now gone for this incredible set!
I do have an issue with the writing here. Lego seems to have made up their own runic alphabet that looks roughly similar to English - it’s not Cirth, or Angerthas, or anything Tolkien created.
☝️🤓
it makes the meat on the menu ref easier to get for everyone not virgin enough to know the tolkien alphabets and thats a massive w
just finished barad dur. it’s a phenomenal build and displays so well. everyone who’s seen it so far can’t stop looking at it and playing around with the throne, and the eye. sauron is amazing and gothmog is a awesome figure. i missed out on GWP but heavily considering buying aftermarket. hopefully lego green lit some more LOTR projects internally with the excellent sales of barad dur.
Why do u spend so much money on a half tower that looks like a harry potter set? Do u realize that this review is an advertisement?
@@xyzne4531 why do you tell a grown adult what to do with their time and money😂. this video is obviously an advertisement, lego sent him the set for free🤣. if you can tell me not to spend my hard earned money on legos then i can tell you to make more money and not be broke so you can afford to spend 500$ on a hobby on yours. every time i’ve commented on a video about lego barad dur i get a lame comment complaining about the price of the set. it just amazes me people think they can tell other people what to do 🤣 get a life and stop hating on everyone and you might be happier!!
@@xbwkaosxnsh188 Its not only the price. The point is that the Quality of this set is bad. And the point is that Lego is only able to release such bs sets because of fanboys like u.

It's the moment in the film where the tree on top of Minas Tirith is burning
Absolutely love this set, as well as last year’s Rivendell. REALLY hope we get a full expansion of LEGO Lord of the Rings!!
Minas Tirith, UCS Helm's Deep... or the Golden Hall should be the next BIG thing :))))
Just impressive. As an adult, I would rather buy one very large, expensive set with decorative value than several small ones that look like a toy. This set combines the two things I love: display features and playability with minifigs.
Now we need 10,000 pieces Minas Tirith
Day 1 pickup for me. I love how in one of the shots you took it looks like the eye is glowing but is really just legos amazing work using different colors by the eye.
there is actually a light in the eye. running off a small button battery
I know but even without the light on it looks like it’s glowing lol.
I’m so glad they finally released another set from the Lego Batman Movie 🥳
He’s a 9,000 year old incarnation of evil with an eye for jewelry! Give it up for Sauron!
The gloing effect is amazing on this. Light without light
@@henrydegroff4282yeah my thoughts too. Just because I'm an adult doesn't mean I can throw money away.
The older I get, the less disposable income I have right now.
I’ve been wanting golems arm piece in that color for forever! Think about using them for battledroid arms, they’re the most screen accurate
I originally was dissapointed looking at this set but now i think its like the best thing ever
Its so awesome!!
100% should be more figures.
The idea of Sauron just having dinner with his orcs is hilarious…imagine him asking how their day was, lol.
I hope that white tree is perhaps a nod to the next big LoTR set… man I would EASILY drop $800 or more for Minas Tirith.
It give it everything it deserves it could honestly be the biggest lego set ever.
Finally, both Orthanc and Barad-dur side by side. The union of the two towers!
I want a new Orthanc in this size or meaby even bigger. The new power is rising!
Orthanc has to be smaller, Barad-dur was around 5000 feet tall the tallest structure in all of Middle Earth.
That Sauron minifigure and wall sticker in tower are going to be worth so much in 10 years!!
Definitely needed more orcs. A huge tower and none to fill it up with..
More and more I loook at that I think is masterpiece.
If they made an Indiana Jones set like this they’d be printing money
One criticism: I think, Sam & Frodo should have new (more accurate to the scene) torso & head prints (dirtier/ more tired faces, and appropriate, ragged outfits) and also would be cool if it included chest plates for them to disguise into. But apart from that the set is pretty sick!
I hope lego starwars get the love lord of the rings sets are getting.
I hope it’s the other way around lol
You're not serious, right?
you could use the instructions to build the extra tower parts
They should make a battle of helms deep set
Super cool! Thanks for showing us the set!
Frodo and Sam never went to Barad Dur… 😕🤓
Frodo was taken to the Tower of Cirith Ungol by the orcs not Barad Dur
Its mount doom I think
Mt doom is also 45km from Barad D'ur
The movies never show any characters going to Barad Dur, (except for Gollum I guess) and we never see the inside. I don't think the Minifigures are meant to reflect characters that went to the location, they're just cool LOTR figures
hes so happy and i LOVE it!!!
I think you might be mistaken, because Mount Doom is several miles away from Barad-dur
Yeah but you can't really blame him. He is a nice guy but he hasn't the slighted clue what he is talking about here.
The light kit for this one is gonna be awesome.
We need an orc battlepack O_o
Lego LOTR Rivendell 😍😍😍😍😍😍 & Lego LOTR Barad Dûr 😍😍😍😍😍😍
We need a Vader’s castle version of this set
I wanna pick this up for my birthday coming up and binge the extended trilogy while I build
it amazes me that in such a pricey set you still have stickers........
