Yes the white tree is from Minas Tirith, I apologize for not putting that one together! To be fair, Return of the King is my least favorite of the trilogy, I’ve only seen it a few times, whereas I’ve watched Fellowship & Two Towers more than a dozen times. I promise I’m not a fake fan, I just don’t like spiders…
Seen dozens of times but still say "RivenDALE"?
My man called him Saul-ron
If you like LOTR I highly recommend reading the books at least once. Don't bother with the simarillion
Return of the king least favorite?!?! Whattttttttt
Return of the King is easily the best the best one!
"A tree on fire?" Bro that's the white tree of Gondor!!!
I honestly did not put that together 😅
my thought word by word XD
Yeah he is a fake fan
Not fake. He said at the beginning that he is a Star Wars fan, not LOTR.
Nah bro, that tree is from Elden Ring, Git Gud next time.
19:58 in universe, Orthanc is slightly over 500 ft and Barad Dûr is 4,482 feet

Shut up, wesley! We are all nerds here

Bro chill it’s a joke I’ve read all the books too💀
I love how brown and orange-brown pieces are used near the lava and fire to give the illusion of a glow. It's so cool
my favourite part of the set
Not gonna lie, I've never thought lego would go down the object source lighting route. It's absolutey appropriate, and from a distance, I could swear that there is some sort of lighting effect in the eye of Sauron. Well, there is, but I mean a powerfull one.
I won't buy this, but this set is freaking amazing.
I believe the word you're looking for is gradient 😌
There will be a Great Trio:
1 - Rivendell, where the Fellowship of the Ring was born.
2 - Barad Dur as one of the Two Towers.
3 - Minas Tirith, where the Return of the King took place.
What about Edoras? this could be amazing set... both Edoras and Minas Tirith can be bought on aliexpress if you are not an orthodox and don't mind some not genuine Lego sets
I feel like the Shire is a must.
helm's deep too
Either Minas tirith or helms deep next
Helms deep they can make twice as big as charge $1,000. People will buy it
„Just a tree“ 🥹
Lmaoo
Right 😮
The white tree print is a vision of Minas Tirith burning.
or it could be a vision backwards in time, to the white tree Nimloth that Sauron burnt in Númenor. Or it could be both, at the same time.
Better call Saulron
😂😂
Man I can’t wait to set up the banquet hall, dinner with Saulron in Ballrad Dur is going to epic

This set is phenomenal, the only complaint that I have is that Frodo and Samwise should have outfits that reflect their appearances in Return Of The King.
AMEN
yeah, they really should have had custom prints (dirt/grime) which could make the overall lack of additional minifigs more acceptable.
And if you think about it, Sam should have sting with him and not a random sword
@@brandonaskew2428what lack of additional minifigs?
@trilobite2500 that is true, he should have Sting.
14:35 is the White tree of Gondor in Minas Tirith. Maybe this city or Bag End will be next UCS set? It would be nice, if they made some smaller sets tho.
if they make a UCS Gondor set, they can just have all my money! :-)
I think ...Minas Tirith wil be the next Set !
It's been rumoured Minas Tirith will be coming
Rivendell had a sticker of Sauron and Barad Dur, so it would make sense
Itd have to be micro scale like the big hogwarts :/
That feeling when Lego sends The Lord of the Rings set for review to a Star Wars fan, but doesn't send it to The Lord of the Rings fan... 😢
LOTR sets just dont miss, only if they put this much attention to detail for other genres of lego
Then you guys would complain about affordability😂
🤡
@@depressedraptorsfan4907 Attention to detail doesn't cost anything?

I kinda want it but it is super expensive tbh
It is expensive but it honestly much cheaper than some other sets
@@CrateCrasher Yeah i know it sounds ridiculous but its cheaper than i thought lol
I will maybe get it with the GWP and 50 bucks discount from lego vip points
@Dr.Frogerston Ik it seems expensive, but actually the price per piece is the best I’ve ever seen
Christmas present or whatever works
The only thing, that I feel would make this set perfect would have been including a Witch King of Angmar minifig. But besides that, I'd love to see more LOTR sets, give me battlepacks, give me Minas Tirith and Minas Morgul, Osgiliath, the Golden Hall of Edoras. There is so much they can do with LOTR alone that they missed out on 10 years ago.
If they do Minis Tirith Witch King would definitely be in there. Actually surprised it wasn’t in the gwp.
@@xMcLite 1000% surprised they didn't just make the ringwraith the Witchking
That's not Mount Doom attached to the tower, m8. Barad-dur was constructed about 30 miles away from the mountain.
Awesome set. The 'glow' color effect really works.
Then what are these grey pieces wrapping around the tower? I've been wondering that aswell

Me too love Lego Star Wars I make videos but I honestly think barad dur Is better than Rivendell
Jesus loves you, He really wants you in Heaven and wants a relationship with you. Are you gonna say yes to the King? Repent and do the will of the Father to be saved. Don’t put it off, tomorrow isn’t guaranteed. Confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and Believe God raised Him from the dead to be saved. (Romans 10:9) For God so loved the world He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16.) I really hope you repent and come to know Jesus. All the glory to my Great God. Amen.
Just a note on lore: the mountain range that Barad Dur is built on is not Mount Doom, it's a branch of the Ered Lithui ( ash mountains aka the northern of the two mountain ranges enclosing Mordor). Mount Doom is actually south east of Barad Dur across the plain of Gorgoroth.
This is actually a bit wrong look at @mygoal2 's comment for what its supposed to be
I think it's South-West and not South-East. And Barad Dur is at the South of the first (from the West/left) branch of Ered Lithium.
I have the map under my eyes.
@@Mygoal2 Yeah you're right i forgot to fix that
Major shoutout to this designer. UNBELIEVABLE work
16:44 The numbers align with the “Three rings for the Elven-kings under the sky, Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone, Nine for Mortal Men, doomed to die, One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne In the Land of Mordor where the shadows lie”
Backwards, it is also the year that Tolkien passed
Just a bit surprised they didn’t use the Woody/Avatar legs for Sauron since he is so much larger than other characters in LOTR
Mouth of Sauron's head is a bit disappointing.
He's iconic for his different facial expressions so it's a shame he only has one, especially when the crown completely covers the back of his head.
True.
I hope Helm's Deep is next. At this scale though, youre probably looking at $800-$1000 to get all the detailing.
Same with Minas Tirith. Gonna be hard to capture it without increasing the price tag. I really wonder where they go from here. Maybe just Shire or Moria.
I'd love that next so we can have a beginning, middle, and end of the events of the books/movies. But for now, I like the bookend of the beginning and end of the Fellowship's journey with the ring
The thing with Helm's Deep is it would HAVE to be scaled in a way that minifigs can man the walls, have stairs big enough, and big rooms. Whereas with this set it's obviously scaled way down, and even Minas Tirith would be able to have small walls/platforms and then little buildings that are mini scale. Helm's deep would need that proper scaling though
@@Evelyn-qt3hi on that note, Helms Deep would also need to come with maybe 20 minifigs to make the scene, especially if there are still no smaller "battle pack" sets to build an army with.
to be honest i whant Minas morgul with the Witch King of angmar and the other 9 wraiths and there Fell beasts. would be great to see MInas Morgul or rather Minas Ithil
Palantir was showing the predictions of the future that Sauron showed. First the burning of the King's tree on top of Minas Tirith that gets its leaves back once the king of Gondor returns. Second one is the burning of the shire which was skipped in the movies but is an event at the end of the books.
There's also a part in the movie which shows Hobbits being worked as slaves and Saruman also mentions that "the old world will burn on the fires of industry". But yes, the war on the Shire with Sharkey was left out from the movies.
Fans to Lego: “Build me a Lego set worthy of Mordor”
Lego: “whom do you serve?”
Fans: “Legoooooo!”
13:55 there's actually miles between Barad Dur and Mount Doom so that rock can't be it😅
He got so much lore wrong
Rivendell was a real treat to build. I hope I can get this too. I just hope for smaller sets that aren’t brickheadz.
These are the sets that make me really wish I had the space to build and display them proudly. Alas , I do not. Very glad it exists, none the less. Super cool LOTR set!
This is a awesome set! Imagine Lego making a Jedi temple with such details!
That would be AMAZING!!!!
I would pay whatever they ask for it.
jedi temple would sadly have to be kinda small, atleast on the outside, and could be like this set that it has the back open
There’s something so wholesome with Sauron just sitting down at a table with the Mouth and five other orcs and just eating some food together. But neglecting that, it is nice that they included a Sauron mini figure since it’s implied in the books that he had a form like that during the time of LOTR. Highlighted in Gollum’s line, “Nine of them [Fingers] he has”.
Helms Deep would be an excellent next large set for Lego Lotr's
I hope that lego sells the slimmest tower bits (the stackable ones) as a pick a brick marketplace set. Wouldn't mind paying extra 50-60-70$ for an opportunity to boost the height. Could be without interior and parts /digital manual only.
I don't think they ever would
wait for a MOC builder to put it on bricklink.
I’m sure there will be part list and instruction for that section out soon. Thinking about add one extra section myself. I think it would look better for the proportion.
That would be incredible. But I feel like they're not gonna do that(..
@@rookies10001 unfortunately no, it won't help much. The Tower is just too thick when compared to the base, you would have to enlarge that one too. I'm thinking about throwing out interior of the tower and trim the fat a little, but I must check the instruction first if that's even viable option.
i like the brown/orange/red colors around the bottom walls, kinda gives it an illuminating fiery effect from the lava
I needs it... Just wish there was 12 minifigs to be more on par with Rivendells 15 minifigs in terms of value. So hyped either way!
Hey!!! Love your videos keep it up 👍
@@chasebarricklow1154 Hey! 😁
Which videos do you think are missing?
Edit: meant to say minifigs ofc
@@borkwoof696I assume you mean to ask which minifigs are missing, the witch king is one, the ring wraith in the gwp could have been another or just throw in another orc. Another option is a large troll fig that we see opening the gates instead of 2 figs. Many options tbh.
@@1by1Brick trolls are never seen opening the gates of Barad-Dur. That was the black gate to Mordor. The witch king also isn’t associated with Barad-Dur. He resides in Minas Morgul and would make more sense in other sets. Yeah, another orc would have been nice I guess but does that really make a difference?
My only complaint is that Frodo and Sam are re-uses from Rivendell, they should have unique outfits/prints. Other than that looks great.
I'm so excited for this set.. I bought a new shelf just to have the space for it.. I love love love how it's not just ALL BLACK.. that is honestly what sold it for me.
Can you not order it until June?
@@glibglob8755 I mean, I COULD? but I don't really have LEGO money right now
No, I meant it releases in June? You can’t order it on the site right now.
Nimloth: the white Tree of Gondor, pippin had an encounter with the palantir (crystal ball) showing him a vision of the burning of the tree of gondor and the other one is a reff to the
the scouring of the shire which wasnt in the movie except by vision of Frodo in Lothlorien Forrest in the presence of Galadriel.
The movement of the eye is really cool. My biggest gulp was when you said tower of orthanc was over a decade ago, I feel like I picked it up yesterday. Scary
The tower next to the Rivendell set looked so cool as a shot. Really makes it even more menacing looking set next to the idyllic Rivendell.
That Eye of Sauron at the top alone is quite impressive. Great design by Lego. Can’t wait to see this in person
9 hours to build this? That’s like the total run time of the cinematic releases of the trilogy. Coincidence? I THINK NOT
Great review I enjoyed it a lot! Very calm, detailed while entertaining at the same time.
14:49 😂😂😂😂 HAHAH that the hints gollum shouted when he was being tortured lool 😂
If the venator is anything to go by I'm really hoping we get a Sauron Mech next year, or a fell beast Microfighter
Frodo and Sam never went to Barad Dur… 😕🤓
Frodo was taken to the Tower of Cirith Ungol by the orcs not Barad Dur
Its mount doom I think
Mt doom is also 45km from Barad D'ur
The movies never show any characters going to Barad Dur, (except for Gollum I guess) and we never see the inside. I don't think the Minifigures are meant to reflect characters that went to the location, they're just cool LOTR figures
You didn't do enough research. Barad-Dur wasn't built into Mt Doom. It was built a distance away from the volcano, about 30 miles.
i wish lego would give us an option to upgrade their display sets. i'd happily pay an extra $20-$100 (depending on the set) to get printed pieces instead of stickers
100% should be more figures.
I originally was dissapointed looking at this set but now i think its like the best thing ever
Day 1 pickup for me. I love how in one of the shots you took it looks like the eye is glowing but is really just legos amazing work using different colors by the eye.
there is actually a light in the eye. running off a small button battery
I know but even without the light on it looks like it’s glowing lol.
Maybe it would look stupid, but I'm imagining the taller minifig legs for Sauron, and I think it would have been awesome if they included both regular, and those long legs, just as an option, and in case people wanted to have him in a battle scene, he really should tower above other figures. I also would've liked his helmet/armor mold to have been painted.
I wasn’t planning on getting this set and I still prefer Rivendell. But I’m liking this more than I thought I would. I just don’t know where I’m going to put it 😅
"Shire? Baggins?" on the map. it's so funny
Super cool! Thanks for showing us the set!
I would love a Lego Minas Tirith!
I hope that white tree is perhaps a nod to the next big LoTR set… man I would EASILY drop $800 or more for Minas Tirith.
It give it everything it deserves it could honestly be the biggest lego set ever.
Gonna wait to watch this until after I have it built so nothing is given away ahead of time. Very excited for the build and excited to watch this and get David’s thoughts.
I give Barad dur 20/10 awesome set
I passed on Rivendell because it didn't feel particularly useful for my style of brickfilming (plus my brother got it, so I can always borrow his if I need it). But Bara-Dur....hmmm....they might force my hand on this one.
You legend. I am a fan of your videos for nearly 10 years now.
I guarantee you that these figs will be worth more together than the set itself
my guy you clearly had lots of fun building this set and editing the review:) love it
It's complete unacceptable that LEGO would put stickers in a set this expensive. Pain in the butt factor of applying them perfectly aside, this is a collectors set which is meant to stay on people's shelves for years and years. Stickers will decay and fade naturally over time (especially in higher humidity environments) which completely undermines the fact that this is supposed to be a display piece.
Stickers as a whole are just a dark shadow that looms over LEGO they just won't drop, all in the name of slightly increased profits.
It’s interesting that the Easter egg in Rivendell was the eye of Sauron and we got barad dur. Does the spider Easter egg mean we get shelob next?
Prob minas tirith, since there is a easter egg of it
Or Even Edoras
Didn't saw a edoras easter egg
We've already gotten Shelob
Minas Tirith
Wish it had more figures it basically has 8 due to the 2 repeats, especially for the price
I really wished they made a unique witch king as well as sauron. That would’ve been amazing
@@Ky-xm7tcdoesn‘t fit, though
I guess...it mostly just gives me hope that Minas Tirith is truly on the way as he fits better . But the leader of the Nazgul definitely fits in a Barad-Dur set.
The use of different colors to create the glowing illusion at the base lava and at the eye is SO COOL!! Lego trying to make Light kits obsolete lol
so excited! just sold my spiderman bridges for this. Had a complete bridge sealed and and partial one. Now gone for this incredible set!
Definitely needed more orcs. A huge tower and none to fill it up with..
No actually, $250 is not reasonable either in today's economy. Minimum wage sucks in a lot of states right now.
19:40 This palantir is actually almost exactly like the one from the Gandalf vs Saruman set, but in that set you get a cool eye of Sauron minifigure head.
Dude using a head piece for the palantir is absolutely genius
I do have an issue with the writing here. Lego seems to have made up their own runic alphabet that looks roughly similar to English - it’s not Cirth, or Angerthas, or anything Tolkien created.
☝️🤓
it makes the meat on the menu ref easier to get for everyone not virgin enough to know the tolkien alphabets and thats a massive w
14:34
It's the moment in the film where the tree on top of Minas Tirith is burning
Just impressive. As an adult, I would rather buy one very large, expensive set with decorative value than several small ones that look like a toy. This set combines the two things I love: display features and playability with minifigs.
Absolutely love this set, as well as last year’s Rivendell. REALLY hope we get a full expansion of LEGO Lord of the Rings!!
I’m so glad they finally released another set from the Lego Batman Movie 🥳
He’s a 9,000 year old incarnation of evil with an eye for jewelry! Give it up for Sauron!
Definitely need "normally" priced playsets. Not even 18+ branded. Just because a set is not "18+" and has playfeatures doesn't make it any less attractive for adults, honestly. I wish I had the old Moria and Helm's Deep. I own and I am very fond of the weathertop. LEGO is a toy first and foremost and adult fans understand that. Scaling is a compromise and it still looks great.
I am getting this in the store on june first to flex a little but I'd recommend Rivendel instead. I wish we got a proper Lord of the Rings like. I am fed up with Star Wars and disney content so I'll have some $ from sets I refuse to buy anymore.
Lol who are you flexing on?
One criticism: I think, Sam & Frodo should have new (more accurate to the scene) torso & head prints (dirtier/ more tired faces, and appropriate, ragged outfits) and also would be cool if it included chest plates for them to disguise into. But apart from that the set is pretty sick!
The gloing effect is amazing on this. Light without light
If they made an Indiana Jones set like this they’d be printing money
I think you might be mistaken, because Mount Doom is several miles away from Barad-dur
Yeah but you can't really blame him. He is a nice guy but he hasn't the slighted clue what he is talking about here.
Wow! What an amazing set! I Cant wait to get it!
The difference in design between the two towers over a decade apart shows how much they have improved. Barad-dur looks so much better and the detail and color choices among the whole set really makes it feel more alive.
I hope lego starwars get the love lord of the rings sets are getting.
I hope it’s the other way around lol
You're not serious, right?
We need a Vader’s castle version of this set
Looks awesome, great review as always 👌🏻
Lego moving to paper bags to be more "Eco" friendly, yet offset this by splitting my May 4th order into 3 seperate delivery dates, I literally got it delivered Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. Now thats what i call "Saving" the planet 😂
They should make a battle of helms deep set
We need an orc battlepack O_o
"Going the extra mile" would have been putting appropriate orc army disguises on the Frodo and Sam figures (they look ridiculous in those helmets while wearing Shire clothes), and giving us Isildur and Elrond in battle gear mini-figs to go with what is probably the only appropriate set with which to give us those figures.
Isildur and Elrond wouldn’t make any sense as the tower wasn’t there when that battle happened. I do agree the Hobbit outfits in shire gear looks off.
@@xMcLite Barad Dur was there. The tower with the eye may not have been (not sure). And as it is likely this is the only Barad Dur we are getting from Lego, it is the closest set that would be appropriate for those figures. And since Frodo and Sam did not actually go to/enter Barad Dur, it would make as much sense to include Isildur and Elrond as it does to include them in this set.
@@noahbaerveldt8162 maybe with the Rings of Power show they would have an Isildur vs Sauron assuming this would be shown in the shown. But on the flip side there hasnt been any Rings of Power sets.
@@xMcLite
Dude, of course the dark tower was there in the second age. Barad-Dûr was actually besieged by the last alliance for 7 years
Only thing I see missing is the giant rucksack that Sam was still carrying all the way up until the rocks at the mountain base of the tower. It would be a really easy piece to include.
I don't play, build or collect Lego anymore- but if I did, that would be my one add.
The mountain IS NOT the mountain of doom
I need this my Precious 🧟♂️
I am still saving for the rivendell set. its the only LOTR set that I am intersted in considering the crazy prices. Lego, if any of you greedy a$$holes is watching this, you better stop with all these massive sets and start releasing more obtainable sets that common human beings can actaully show case in their homes (and afford them)
I prefer the old gollum because his hands let you place the ring on it like other minifigures, while with this one you can only clip it on sideways. The new one's fine though.
I want a new Orthanc in this size or meaby even bigger. The new power is rising!
Orthanc has to be smaller, Barad-dur was around 5000 feet tall the tallest structure in all of Middle Earth.
@@GoatzombieBubba Yes, but Barad-Dur is not in perfect scale, makers even said that you could buy another set to make it higher like in movies. Another thing is that Orthang would be just tower like the older set and Barad-Dur has also many pieces used at the bottom of the build, i think they should cost similar and has similar amount of brics.
The sets being expensive makes sense when you think about it, the LOTR movies are over 20 years old now and the books 70 and (until very recently) there hasn't been any new LOTR media.
SO most people buying these would be older anyway (25-40) so "play-sets" are probably not going to reach a big enough market. This older market has the money to drop on such indulgences.
Yes, of course! Anyone over 20 automatically has loads of disposable cash, and endless space! That makes sense. I'd forgotten that.
Everywhere I look people are asking for affordable, smaller lotr sets. Also, the Hobbit movies came out 10 years ago.
@@henrydegroff4282yeah my thoughts too. Just because I'm an adult doesn't mean I can throw money away.
The older I get, the less disposable income I have right now.
Now we need a minas Tirith set. Helms deep or Edoras aren't bad ideas either. Moria, Lothlorien, Falls of Rauros, updated weathertop, Black gate, dead marshes, or valley of the dead, and Oroduin would all be superb sets as well. There's so much potential for the LoTR line of lego that I really hope they capitalize on.
I haven’t fully seen LOTR but this set is epic. The figures are just dope and I hope LEGO makes some affordable sets for this theme especially introducing all those new accessories.
We have very different opinions about the dining hall, I think it ruins the set for me unfortunately. It is too whimsical unfortunately.
