I once had a mechanic tell me my tires were making noise because my transmission was shot. That obviously makes absolutely zero logical sense, so I took it to another mechanic a co-worker recommended. They told me the noise was from my winter tires and there was nothing wrong with the car. They're not failures but by most accounts, Nissan didn't go anywhere near far enough with the redesign. The 400 would have been a really nice update back in say, 2010. But after 19 years of 350/370Z cars that changed little after all that time, people were expecting a lot more out of the new car. Ditto, the Titan and Frontier pickups. Too dated, even though their design is all-new.

I have a 2013 370z Nismo. Bought it in 2012 w/ 5 miles out the lot. Now it's at 225K miles. I go thru a set of tires a yr. I take it camping, go thru snow (light), take it on really bad dirt roads, packed lumber in it, and long road trips. It's my daily commuter as well. Still has the original suspensions. I red line the car almost every time getting on the freeway. Lots of fun zipping thru curves in the hills/mountains. I drove it over 100miles the 1st day I bought it and took it up to 110mph the 2nd day (which you should not do with new cars). I'm surprise the engine & car lasted this long. It had a blown head gasket for about a yr now, so I am replacing it at the moment. I'm not a mechanic nor have experience with car engines. Hope it turns on after I put it all back together.

Interesting story. Son had a 300zx 2+2 manual first car drove it for 10 years . Went to Nashville auto diesel college back and forth to S.Carolina digital dash . Then moved to Charlotte while in Charlotte he buys a 350z 2003. Drives that all around Charlotte while he works as a diesel mechanic for the bus company parks the 300zx for 3 years. Goes to get a trailer when he's ready to move back to S.C to trailer the 300 home. His 350z goes in limp mode . He puts the 350z on the trailer and drives his 300zx home after sitting 3 years. BTW the 350 had a short in the harness he found a week later. .

I really like the new Z car actually. I understand what you’re saying about the turbos, but you’d be hard-pressed to not find a non GDI, non-turbo car these days. Also, we had a couple of the VQ Nissans in the family and while they’re great motors, they have their own set of issues. I do know a couple of people that have put a decent amount of mileage on the 3 L turbo that is in the new Z. It’s been out on the Infiniti for quite some time. I think the redesign is sharp, it mixes the perfect amount of retro with new, and I’m really excited to drive one. I actually think Nissan is on an upswing. For instance, they finally got rid of the awful CVT in the Pathfinder. While it’s not a pathfinder as we know it, still, it is definitely also an improvement over the last generation. I am rooting for Nissan. I’ve had a lot of them and I’m hoping That they get their groove back. Perhaps with Ghosn having been ghosted, we will see some welcome changes.

I have used the recommended 5W-30 Nissan ester oil since it was new and gently broke in the engine and used 3k mile oil change intervals. There is no valve clatter on my engine and only a little fuel injector clicking.
I spent about $3k on a high performance intake, exhaust and custom Ecutek dyno we estimate that we're getting about 385 peak hp at the crank, very close to the 400hp the new Z makes.
I'm at a Nissan dealership waiting on an oil change and in talking with the salesman found out that they can't sell the new Z; all of their prospective buyers have gotten cold feet after seeing the $10k and $20k markups on the performance and sport models. Scotty, I’m an old man. Purchased a set of brake drums and shoes for the rear brakes on my 2005 Silverado, and installed them myself. The drums were from Detroitaxle.
Took me and three mechanics to diagnose the pulsating that I experienced after installing all of that, to not being the front disc brakes being defective, but the new rear drums being defective!
You see, I mistakenly diagnosed the pulsating feel I was getting after replacing the rear brakes to being the front brakes! Never dreamed the new drums were the problem!
Of course Detroitaxle didn’t want to warrant the drums because I had them on for forty days before realizing they were defective! Which they only give 30 days for free returns apparently! Oh, they offered after I asked to speak with a supervisor, to allow me a replacement or refund if I would pay $113 to ship the defective ones back….I paid $137 for the set!
The ones I bought locally ended up costing me $225 for the pair, but they actually work!
Just wanted to ask you if you ever tried Detroitaxle parts and what you thought about them? I know you don’t mind calling it like you see it!

Regardless, its going to be cheaper than a new one so just say you rather something cheaper. Has nothing to do with the “current market”.

That was a good looking Z car. I like the look of the new Z car, but not as much as that older one. Probably very hard to find one in as good a condition as that one.

I’ve been driving my 370 Z for 14 years now got 42,000 miles on it. Manual transmission of course. I’ve only just replaced the starter. And not because it crapped out on me just because it was starting to make noises like it was going to and I didn’t want to get stuck somewhere so I went ahead and replaced it far from that. I change the oil and take care of the car. Will see you at 20+ years how it keeps going

That’s true you don’t want none of these Japanese cars that are owned by kids or young adults they’ll destroy those cars there was this older woman that had a 240sx all original and I asked her multiple times to sell to me but she would always tell me know finally, she gave it to her grandson, and now the car is lowered, has bucket seats in the Pokémon stickers on the window 🤦🏻‍♂️ smh goodbye 240sx I’ll probably see you in the junkyard soon

0:41 can you explain why? No, you can't. Because you're saying absolute nonsense like you do in every video. Your car is constantly running diagnostics whether something is plugged in or not. The only difference is the device is reading it. Besides, that device was probably a GPS tracker

My wife drives 04 350Z with 47,000 miles. Fun car to drive, but damn it's small. Only issue we've had is the fan assy went bad that I had to replace. Wouldn't you know it I get a recall notice like 3-6 months later.

When you buy these race performance cars, just have eyes open that they last only to the end of the race. True race cars get new engines before every race. You want to win, right? Nobody cares if the winning car has valve tappet noise.

Scotty, I have the same 370z after driving it and getting the engine nice and warm and letting it sit for about half hour or more it takes about 5 to 10 seconds of cranking to start. Once it does start it runs fine. Cold starts are fine also. I was thinking weak coolent sensor or oil temp. sensor or cam sensors. Had it looked at and was told I had good gas pressure. Will a ODB2 scanner find the problem.

      @hxhdfjifzirstc894 Рік тому +2

These OBD2 'sensors' (I think you mean a 'scanner') can be USED by someone to track down the problem, but it's not as easy as plugging it in, and the thing telling you what part to replace -- you have to understand how to use it and what the information means.
As it happens, I once had a car that would die while idling and be hard to start when cold (the OPPOSITE of what you have). I replaced the fuel injector o-rings and never had a problem after that (it must have been leaking pressure in the fuel rail, as the engine cooled down). Cost me about $5 for the o-rings. I know I had the opposite conditions, but your results might be related -- I suspect that things can also begin to leak as they warm up.
I know that you said someone checked the fuel pressure. Did they check it when the car is absolutely cold versus still warm? I think you're on the right track by looking into fuel rail pressure or the cam sensor... but I'm not a mechanic.
Anything weird like accidentally running the car out of fuel, or adding fuel system cleaner recently? Could be bits of junk in the fuel now, or a weak fuel pump from overheating (from running out of gas).

Mine 2013 with almost 200k miles, i replaced the water pump and went with EPS gaskets galleries and only thing i wish i replaced is oil pump even through it had nothing wrong with it...just it really cant withstand over 7000rpm. If you drive normally and rarely ever track or do any "spirit driving" it's really reliable and might even last forever
