- SEAT DETAILS BELOW: After many months of riding around with a PUMA fanny pack attached to the back seat and dealing with a sore backside on longer rides, I finally bought a proper seat and storage pod from Sargent Cycle. Any questions about the seat or pod, please let me know. I'll do my best to answer.

Great unboxing!!! Looks wicked cool! Thanks!!
Thanks Norrin, appreciate it! The unboxing, minus the box. I'm very happy with the purchase, so comfortable and grippy. Also thrilled to get rid of the storage bag off the pillion.
@@norrinradd5501 No mention of lousy locking mechanism, metal on plastic. Last a few weeks.
Very nice, the seat is going to have to go on my short list.
Thanks for watching. The seat really is more comfortable for me. I’m very happy with the purchase for both form and function.
Any issues with the edges when you have to put your feet down in traffic? Couldn't tell if the seat looked narrow enough near the front. Also did you choose the material in the configure tool, or was that a default option? Thanks again, Brian.
@@brianm263 no issues with putting the feet down all very comfortable. I called Sargent and went over what I wanted and the sales agent helped me pick the correct options. Their customer service is really good. A guy named Dane helped me out and stayed in touch via email through the production and shipping phase.
Looks great and informative video. I have the same set up - but with the SW Motech rack - I had to modify the rack for the pod to fit correctly. The OEM sport seat is comfy but was too tall for my 28 inch inseam. The sargent seat lowered me about and inch and a quarter - so more foot on the ground. My wife no longer rides with me because she got sick of the ultra distracted cagers, so the pod is great for storing the necessities for every day riding. I believe the pod looks very sporty and adds to the aesthetics of the bike. The red piping looks good on yours. Next for me is the Arrow exhaust- should be delivered tomorrow. :) Keep up the good videos and ride safe.
I'm looking at an Arrow exhaust too!
Thanks a bunch Scott for watching and sharing your insights. I was considering getting the SW Motech, but I don’t really tour or need more storage than the pod. However good to know for the future. My friend has the SW Motech on his S 1000 XR. They look really good. My knees are more bent and tucked up with the new lower seat. Not an issue for me but definitely would be an issue if I was 6ft or taller. I believe Sargent has a tall version for the basketball players among us.
Sargent is a top product. I havevthem on most all my bikes. Add heat. It helps on long days in the saddle. I've had some over twenty years with no issues. Only question I have is losing the ability to strap something across that area of the seat. Much like the 3,/5 s seat on my 83 RS. Maybe a couple rails mounted. Wear wool, it really helps in the heat. Like your bike. May well be in my future.
Hi Sam, thanks for checking out the video and sharing your insights, appreciate it. Wearing wool seems like a bad idea in Texas heat; however, Professor Chat GPT says, "If you're considering wearing wool during the summer, you may want to choose lightweight and breathable wool fabrics, like merino wool. Merino wool is known for its finer fibers and moisture-wicking properties, which can help manage sweat and body temperature more effectively. Additionally, selecting lighter colors and looser-fitting garments can also improve the breathability of wool clothing. With that in mind, do you have a motorcycle clothing brand made of wool that you wear and like?
That looks great, particularly the storage pod.
Thank you for checking out the video and your comment. I like the look very much. The seat is amazing looking and much more comfortable than the stock seat. However Sargent needs to upgrade the fit and locking mechanism of the pod.
Good looking bike and nice upgrade. Seriously thinking about getting an RS
It’s an amazing bike. Checkout some of my other videos that discuss the other upgrades and character of the bike. After three years, I’m still very much enjoying the RS.
I have the carbon finish pod on my gold bike and it looks like an aftermarket appendage. Black pod looks great on the black bike looks factory. Very nice. I'm really happy with the back rest on the pod. Combined with the Sargent seat it's a great improvement.
Ditch your passenger pegs and get the R&G exhaust hanger!
Thanks for checking out the latest video. Completely agree, the seat is a huge improvement. It's very comfortable. Step by step I'm getting the bike to where I want it. Removing the passenger pegs is coming when I have the time.
@@Texas2Tires you will love it when done. Need a heat gun to loosen the locktite on the peg bolts.
Belle trouvaille !
La ligne de la machine reste toujours aussi belle, voir plus sportive.
Bonne route

It's a hard life, but someone's got to do it 😂 My RS is due for delivery in 2 weeks. I went with the low seat option (plus thebtubular bars) as I felt I was "sat on" rather than "sat in" the demo bike which put more weight on my wrists and coming from a GS I prefer the sit in position. The low seat may be too low at 760mm as opposed to 820mm stock so I might be after something in between. My basic research so far is that as well as this seat Wunderlict do one too so I'll have a few options should I need to swap.
Thanks for checking out the video and congratulations on the new bike. All the best with your seat selection. My Sargent seat, I definitely feel much more like I’m in the bike rather than on the bike.
The seat looks really good, as well as the rear seat cover. I’d be interested to check if there’s anything adaptable for the 2023 model, which has the heating seat. Thanks ✌️
Thanks for watching the video. Yes Sargent has heated versions of the seat. www.sargentcycle.com/seats/bmw/r/r1200rs?page=1
Good video. Two questions. Sargent website claims that is lower by almost 2" than stock (you are the same height as me, I am 29" inside leg) do you find that reaching the ground is better? Or because the seat is wider is more difficult I assume the front of the Sargent is the same width as stock? Are your knees now more bent?
Thank you for checking out the video and commenting. Yes it is lower. The seat is only wider in the back part. The front is like the stock seat so doesn’t interfere with legs. I do feel my knees are a bit more bent, but not a big deal for me. After a few hours of riding the other day, my butt and legs were in good shape no aches or pains.
With everything in the Sargent, is there any rattling, shifting, or vibration from the tools... especially if you go over a speed bump or on an uneven road??
Thanks for watching the video and commenting. No rattling. Like the stock seat, the tools are held in place by plastic cutouts and the foam backing.
Oh okay it's lower. I'm looking for one now lol.
I just can't find the rear compartment one, maybe it's not for sale anymore?
Best thing to do is call Sargent Cycles. Their customer service can help you find the right products and colors.
Good video, thanks for posting it. I live and ride in the mountains, so I slide back and forth across the seat to shift my weight while cornering. Does the extra width inhibit side to side movement? Also, does the lower seat height significantly reduce the leg room (the seat-to-footpeg distance)? Thanks!
Thanks for watching and commenting, appreciate it. I can still move around on the seat. In regard to the distance from seat to pegs, it is less. For me, not a big deal as I'm a shorter riding at 5'8" with a 30 inch inseam. If you have greater than a 32 inch inseam, I would say you will notice the loss of distance and might feel a bit cramped. However, I believe Sargent does have a tall version. Best thing to do is call Sargent Cycle and inquire about that. They have good customer service.
Nice!
Thank you!
