There's also something I remember a LOT about that ride... And It was that voice that says "REMAIN SEATED PLEASE... PERMANECER SENTADOS POR FAVOR!!" after the ride is done... Don't know why, but I always remember that! GREAT VIDEO!!! Can't wait to go there again!
Wow! This ride looks so cool! I recall back in 96 I went to Grad Nite at Disneyland Anahiem, Calif. and my school counselor accompanied me! We went on almost ever ride accept for The Matterhorn but, at the last minute we had to return to the buses before sunrise! Kinda sucked at the last minute but, I had a blast...the day before I got my braces off!
I remember I went on this ride when I was seven. It took a lot of reassurance from my parents and my brother after I was told about the yeti to even get on it. Then afterwards, I was completely in love with the snowy beast. I believe I described it as "A big, cuddly, fuzzy monkey that's just a little mad. I wanna give him a hug!" Ah, such nostalgia :3
I love the music on the first ride, so fitting for such a fun good old ride. This is one of my favorites even though it's not the fastest or tallest in drops. Good upload.
I actually road Expedition Everest before the Matterhorn and my first trip to DL, and Expedition Everest was so hyped that it was actually underwhelming and disappointing. The Matterhorn is just good classic Disney fun. It's definitely in my all time top 5 Disney rides.
Great vid RU For your ability to capture the essence of the Ride is no doubt one of the best on youtube! Thx for showing off the greatness that Disneyland has to offer!
Wow. Looks awesome. ^^ I've only been to Disney World never Disneyland. But if I ever go to California I'm DEFINETLY going on this. Reminds me of Expedition Everest and Big Thunder mountain. ^^
It's been WAY too long since I rose this...last time I went to Disneyland I was 4!! O.O But I hope to go back with my friend and make a fun day out of it with her. :) Thanks for the upload!!
This is one of the best rides there. Always go on the Tomorrowland side, and if the sides match up perfectly, I point and scream at the other train and peeps.
@MrCountCoCoaFang Makes it more interesting. "Harold" was added during the 1978 refurb to spice up the ride. From its opening in 1959 to 1978, the mountain was just a big hollow shell. The refurb added a lot more detail to the ride, which range from little touches like ice caverns to the incarnations of Harold seen throughout the ride.
How can you honestly HONESTLY miss this ride, it's right next to the Castle, you know the Big white mountain!!! It's awesome, Get your butt there and go on it!!!!
Who would have thought the park would look so different 6 years ago? I've been going to Disneyland for 17 years and I'm still surprised how much changes over the years. I rode Matterhorn with the lights on today for the first time too.
Goodness, you have no idea how excited I am to go here next month!!! I'm leaving on the 2nd of April, and coming back on the 6th :D My plan is to go on every single ride haha. Haven't been there since I was like 6.
Nice work! Thanks for posting this. I've got two young girls who are curious about whether or not the Matterhorn ride would be too scary. This video confirmed it! :-)
Well, I guess the answer (as far as scary goes) depends on how you view Roller Coasters. I love them and I think MH is great. As far as comparing it to other coasters, it is tamer then Cal Screamin or Rock N Roller Coaster. And yes, lots of fun too! - RU
great video!! I like the tomorrow land side better, I'm so exited I'm going there this august!! and the back id the best you feel every little hill or bump1 I cant wait to see the new seats!!
i totally love ur stuff!!!!me and my brother think you as the only person in you tube we can trust and has a great camera you have every single ride and mabey show in disneyland so what im saying is your awesomely awesome :) :) :):):):):):):):):)
Man this video brings back some good times. For some reason though we made 2 full trips around the mountain. We went around once and then we stoped at the front. I though we were getting off the ride, then we went again. My head ws spining after the second time around.
Very cool, I used to live very close too. I lived at Ball And East - about 1 mile as the crow flies. I grew up watching the fireworks. I could set my clock to them - 9:35 every night - BOOM. - - RU
The Matterhorn sits astride 2 Lands; Tomorrowland and Fantasyland. There are 2 lines for the ride; one wraps around the Tomorrowland side of the ride and one on the Fantasyland side of the ride. Let me make a WDW comparrison. Let's say Country Bears had 2 lines. One line streches to the right deeper into Frontierland. The other ride stretches to the left into Adventureland. One would then say I was in the Frontierland side line or I was in the Adventureland side line.
That is correct; there is a 1/2 court up there. Contrary to urban legend it was not installed to get past some sort of city ordinance. It was installed for people to play if they had to kill some time before an event. - - RU
Shake, Rattle and Roll. 2 purposes for that song. First, it pretty well sums up a ride on the Matterhorn. The second reason is a bit of DL history; specifically the old America Sings attraction used that song. RU42
With as many roller coasters as I've been on, this is my favorite of all time.... it brings back a nostalgia that can't be compared to anything else.
I'm loving the Illuminations soundtrack! My all time favorite Disney piece of music!
This is the world's first steel tubular track roller coaster. Thank you Walt!
THE NOSTALGIA OH MY GOD (one of the first videos I ever saw)
That would be a long time ago
ive been on this ride so many times and i never noticed the difference. i find them both fun and exciting!

Oh man I love this ride, I got my mom on it and she freaked out sooo bad it was hilarious...lol...can't wait till I visit again...
Hard to believe that this coaster paved the way to the modern steel looping coaster. It should be a historic landmark.
I think it actually is now
I love this ride I remember my first time on this ride I screamed so loud when I saw the yeti!! lol
Another classic Disneyland ride that everyone should go on.
As long as they have a good back
Fun fact: The Matterhorn was the very 1st steel roller coaster ever built in the world, also one of the best classic rides of any Disney park
Wow.
Looks awesome. ^^
I've only been to Disney World never Disneyland. But if I ever go to California I'm DEFINETLY going on this.
Reminds me of Expedition Everest and Big Thunder mountain. ^^

Some changes, some stays the same - but all is covered in Magic
@@ru42 Ain't that the truth!
It is from Illuminations: Reflections of Earth. This is a lagoon show that is performed at Epcot. RU

@DisneyIsAwesome55 - Correct; it is from 2 different songs from Reflections of Earth
Man this video brings back some good times. For some reason though we made 2 full trips around the mountain. We went around once and then we stoped at the front. I though we were getting off the ride, then we went again. My head ws spining after the second time around.
good job filming! i like how you showed both sides :)
So Nostalgic!
Yes
I love how you showed both sides of the ride, cuz many people can't see the differences

OMG! XD You're not alone! I used to have that video, and watch so much that I think I wore the tape out. xD

Illuminations was a nice touch.

I went on Matterhorn when I was five years old and I'm fourteen now, yet I can remember those abominable snowmene like I saw them yesterday.

Agreed, but you have to avoid going on it if you have a bad back. The sign tells you loud and clear.
Indeed

It is a composite of 2 songs from Epcot's Illuminations: Reflections of Earth. - -RU42

The music at the start is awesome
I'm gonna get an heartattack from that snowman popping up.

When I went , there was no water flowing down the dip right before the splash pond.
