    A few mainstream options made the cut, so in my One Protein Bar review and Quest Protein Bar review I’ll give you my honest assessment of some of the most popular bars. But many of the brands in this healthy protein bar taste test might be new to you - because the better-known brands often AREN’T the cleanest options…

      I really like the health warrior bars. They have 6 ingredients and are pumpkin seed based. They don’t meet all of the requirements that you mentioned here but as someone with 73 food allergies I can’t really afford to be picky.

      i gravitate towards the Kirkland bars from Costco, mostly because i can buy them in bulk, they don’t suck, they’re ultra low in carbs, and i can take them with me to college!

    This video was great. I was wondering if u would be able to do a video on collagen and its benefits to consume and as a cream. I would like to know its affect on skin as one loses weight. Will it help to make sure there is less or no loose skin?

    This is very through! Good nutritional advice, too. I recently decided to change to eating a bar in the morning for breakfast, with a piece of fruit. I was struggling to make breakfast, skipping, and getting too hungry, so this has given me a way to normalize my routine without a lot of fuss. I'm on the go a lot. I also have a lot of food restrictions, so can only really do nut bars so night too high protien. My fave protein bar is from Costco, the Kirkland brand cookie dough.

      I would not consider them "perfect." They have a longer ingredients list than necessary and are high fat, high carb and lower in protein. Again, it depends on the purpose they are serving, but for something like post-workout, I would not go with them personally. To each his own, though!

    Would you be able to put these in a smoothie or make them into a smoothie? Have you looked in to the JOIN button that has been popping up on alot of other channels? Hope to see you taste test the meat bars or something else in your future videos.

    Great video! Can you do a video on the Pegan diet? I'm currently trying it, and I feel significantly better. Hard to get rid of fat phobia, though.

      Paleo + Vegan -so a paleo diet that emphasizes plant based foods. Most still eat some meat, but much less :) If you're fat phobic, a program like whole30 may help you!

    Have you looked into the Redcon1 MRE bars? Much more whole food w/o the fake fibers. Also, very tasty and filling.

    I use protein bars as more of an occasional breakfast on the go. I use to love Quest bars but that corn fiber doesn't agree with me so I had to stop eating them. I have been eating Rx bars and and recently saw Epic bars, which are almost if not identical to Rx, but they have a lemon flavor that I like. Since you mentioned that you'd eat the Rise bars, I'm going to look at them the next time I'm at the store and give them a try. Great video! Thank you!

    I’ve been on the lookout for a “good” vegan bar. I can’t say I want it for the protein content, but rather as a snack and or meal replacement for say a long car ride or if I’m just not crazy hungry, but need something. I’m also not mad at bars that are sweet and that some might compare to a candy bar. Lol! It’s very rare that I have any so here & there, why not.

    I have some individual collagen packets that I bought through amazon; does it change the flavor of your coffee at all? Would you put the full pack in your coffee? I know I need to add it - or I think I should - particularly as I age and continue to work out a lot; let me know your thoughts please. THANK YOU!

      unflavored Collagen does not change the coffee flavor at all :) I do 1-2 Tbsp

      my take is this: if natural flavors is the worst thing you're eating, you're doing fine. I think this hype over natural flavors is just another distraction from the real problem. People need to stop eating so many processed foods and so much sugar, and more whole foods. Until our diets are squeaky clean, I don't personally think it's worth the mental energy to worry about natural flavors.

      Thank you! I did a general macros video a while ago, but it's hard to give specifics because everyone is so different. Most people need much LESS protein than they think... bodybuilders often aim for 1 gram per pound of bodyweight or more and for most people that's really not necessary. The Dietary Reference Intake is 0.36g per pound of bodyweight... I usually aim for 0.5-0.7g per pound of body weight. But getting less or more on some days isn't going to hurt you as long as your overall getting enough :) I think we've been conditioned to think we need so much more than we do.

    i'm a big fan of the "perfect bar"! it definitely isn't 100% perfect (it has whey and i prefer not to eat dairy) but they are pretty tasty and are kept in the fridge because they are made of mostly whole foods!

      neat! The ingredients for a perfect bar are okay but not ideal for me personally. They also have less protein than fat, which is not ideal for my personal protein bar standards-at least for post-workout.

      my opinion is that if "natural flavors" is the worst thing you're consuming, you're doing pretty good :) I think it's a detail too many people are getting hung up on when there are bigger problems like processed foods, added sugar, etc.

    My top 3 favorites are:
    1. Healthy Eating All the Time and Go
    2. Rx Bars
    3. Perfect Bars (only as a special treat because they're so sweet).
    I also want to try the LaraBar Protein Bars.
    [I can't have any artificial sweeteners or sugar alcohols (including Stevia) so my protein bar options are fairly limited. Unfortunately, that means I have to make sacrifices in regards to the amount of protein in my bars compared to other people].

      yes I hear you! It's hard to find cleaner options with more protein. You have to do what works for you-I always think ingredients is more important.

      I need to check out the Rise bars.I wish they weren't quite as high in sugar, but I appreciate that the sugar is coming from honey. Since bars without artificial sweeteners are so hard to come by, that's a sacrifice I have to make sometimes. (And I do see that some of their bars come in a mini version which may fit into my day more easily).

    one thing you can do with the super chewy bars is pop them in the microwave for 15-20 seconds, that softens them and makes them easier to eat.
    I eat Luna Bars (the peanut butter chocolate flavor), because they are one of the few gluten free, corn product free foods that I CAN eat. so, I don't eat protein bars for protein, but because, as a gluten/corn and corn product person (and corn is in most all gluten free foods, so this is a double challenge) it is difficult for me to find food that is safe for me to eat.
    the gluten free food products community seems to not realize that there are also those of us who can't have corn, which includes xantham gum, with is in literally everything, or anything ending with "-ose", such as dextrose or sucralose. any many many other products that are essentially corn but with a fancy scientific sounding name.

    I eat protein bars because I have celiac disease and I can never count on finding food that I can eat when out & about all day, or if I'm traveling! Seriously, sometimes when I'm traveling for work, all I can eat is protein bars. I definitely don't feel my best when I'm relying on them so much, but they provide me with some essential nutrition when I have no other choices. my favorite brand used to be Dale's Raw because they were delicious and had real ingredients, but sadly they went out of business. No I eat mostly Quest's blueberry muffin and One's coconut flavor.

    I know this might sound strange I've had all different kind of protein bars but for some reason protein bars make me more hungry the only bar that I have found that I can eat that doesn't make me more hungry is Quest Bar

      might be the fiber filling you up :) if there's a lot of sugar in a bar it may be spiking your insulin which would make you hungry faster.

      I think you are right. use to eat a Paleo diet, but I still had cravings. I was a Lara Bar addict. I am now combing Paleo and Keto , which really helps with the cravings. Off topic, I love your hair. You always look lovely.

    I have been a fan of Rx bars on occasion. They definitely fall into the super sticky box. I tried a no cow bar one time and barely got through it, they're terrible.

    I mainly eat Quest bars. Sometimes I eat Atkins or Bhufit bars. Regular One bars spike my blood sugar. Julian's Bakery bars are very hard on my teeth. Even when I microwave them.

    I've tried the Paleo bar before but I had an allergic reaction to it! Turns out I'm allergic to the sunflower butter :( Sad times. I think I'm staying clear of protein bars haha.

    This makes a lot of sense. I feel like a lot of people use protein bars as an excuse to have something yummy after a workout (since most of them are like “candy bars”). When in reality, what most people are doing at the gym is not enough to actually justify them NEEDING a protein bar, if their diet already contains what they need. So then it is just extra calories labeled as “protein bar”-the thing you eat after going to the gym because everyone does it because that’s just what you do... 🤔🙄

    We like the Detour bars that we get in a bigger box from Sam's Club. They have 15 grams of protein and 1 gram of sugar. 😊

    I don't do many protein bars but if I'm traveling I like perfect bars (the kids ones are a perfect snack portion for me) and chomp sticks/epic bars.

    I eat protein bars as a treat to replace what I would have eaten before I started dieting such as a chocolate bar. To replace protein after a work out, I like to eat some nuts

    Built Bars are my favorite, taste like candy bars! Quest bars need a good 10-12 seconds in the microwave and they taste like fresh baked choc chip cookies!

      they're not bunk. We need all essential amino acids-but we don't necessarily need them all together at once. We just need to get them in our diet as a whole.

    Some of the ones on the market are so gross. No Cow have an especially icky texture. Lol. :)
    I have a protein bar every once in awhile. I like trying new ones. I avoid whey protein though.

    I can't stand dates, am very lactose intolerant, and have a huge laundry list of other foods I can't eat. So when you mentioned the meat bars that made me happy. I can eat those glorified overpriced jerky bars.

    Have to say, I was gagging the whole time you were tryingto eat these. And thinking afterwords you must have felt slightly sick. Kudoes to you for putting yourself through this for us. NO I never want a protien bar. I have never tastede one I thought was worth putting into my body.

    I like "Perfect Bars" but they do have a lot of calories, so I limit them. The only thing I will say, is they recommend more protein for pregnant and nursing moms, which is my current situation. Just trying to keep the tiny humans alive, lol.

      I hear you!! I haven't tasted perfect bars but when I've looked at the label they seem like the ingredients could be better and could be worse, but the protein is lower than many protein bars which is disappointing!
