Well said, Pete! I make art because I've been obsessed with playing with color for as long as I can remember. And no crayola box had enough crayons for me... there was always another color that could be made. Art is a place for exploration. Nothing brings me as much joy as experimenting with combinations, to see what might happen.

Talking “in circles” while drawing circles, lol. Your illustrations are so intriguing, the story writes itself. As for me, I make art for me. Sometimes for something pretty, sometimes to see if I can do the cool thing I saw, sometimes to tell stories. I’ve made precious few “message” pieces in my life. They were for academic classes and felt clunky and forced so I let it go. I like to make my living space prettier, or more entertaining, funnier, or more interesting than I found it. Basically, I can’t “leave well enough alone”. Always tinkering. 🤣😎 Thank you for another great video!

Ah, Monday. Love this piece. And thanks for explaining your relationship with other humans. I was wondering what a Saturday night at a bar or restaurant was like for FOP (Friends of Pete). Now I know: there aren’t any.
I honestly never have a story behind my paintings. I just have to do it. Period. I wrote music and sung professionally for a number of years but for me when it was over it was over . My hands won’t let me play my guitar anymore but I still sing just for fun. But now, it’s back to drawing and painting. Thanks to you I really have come to totally love abstract art. I LOVE the piece you did here. It just draws me in. I get it about getting the creative stuff out. I always have done something artistic my entire life. You have to get it out some way. I do like that bit of tension also. I’ve done that a lot. I have often gone beyond the border I agree that it’s interesting and adds something to some pieces. Ahahahahahhaha I’m laughing out loud about the bee stung lips and such….I totally agree!!! I think it looks like total caca. I’m a girl, I think it’s stupid. I would NEVER do that to myself.
I only create art so I can use the fountain pens I have... so my other better half is not all over me with spending too much on them. This way I have an excuse... hey look honey... art stuff! 😅😆
You know, although my main goal for creating art is not monetary, and writing in my journals is not meant to make it on the best seller list, I make these things more than just for me. As I advance in years (I’m 69) I’d like to think these pieces of art and rambling words of wisdom and everyday life might be considered little treasures of me for my family once I’m gone. Even my practice sketchbooks May hold some sentimental value to someone someday.

You have already blessed us with it. I’m pretty sure my friends and family are already enjoying the pieces I’ve gifted them. In 10-20 years if I’m gone, they will place my paintings in some memorial bookshelf, or hung on the wall and think of me. I have a few of my mom’s oils hanging and I’m so happy to have them! So as much as I enjoy my hobby, which is for me, it’s for them as well. Have a great week and I hope you got to catch some of the eclipse today. It was phenomenal here in Texas!
Nice rant, but you missed the most important reason for creating art: HEALING 🤣 I follow a person who seems to be quite nice but in every video she mentions "healing" and I always wonder "from what???" If you have that channel for years and make art for healing and you STILL need to make art for healing then it seems to me as if it doesn't work and you should try to just make art because you enjoy the process 🤨 As for the seam (?) in the road: yes, the car is build for that. But is the driver? The Princess and the Pea comes to mind 😆 🥰
Don't try to distract people with your logic and reasoning. 😂 I think people use words they think mean one thing when in reality it is something else. Maybe they mean "healing" like it "heals the soul" which is just another way to say it makes you feel good. I don't know. 🤷🏻♂️
