I'm Buying a Seiko, Maybe | Watch Shopping in Tokyo, Japan

- We've already taken a look at Grand Seiko but does Seiko have what it takes to take my money while I watch shop in Japan? With Seiko, there are so many options to choose from and from an affordability standpoint, it's hard to not look at all the different watches Seiko has made through the years. Also, at the very end of the video, I take a look at a Credor from the past that makes the Seiko Alpinist look like its ugly cousin.
I had some help curating these list of watches from thecactime who goes by the name of @OkayTokei so be sure to give him a follow if you're into unique JDM watches!

I went to Japan and planned on getting a Grand Seiko or Seiko. Ended up with the Seiko SPB297 because I loved the dial! Retail in US would've been $1,250+tax, but got it for approx $1k total after conversion, so saved about 27% - definitely worth it.
i love the whole 62mas issues
Great pickup and for that price, you really can't go wrong. Thanks for sharing!
I agree!
Aye thanks for the shoutout! Happy to see some caught your eye but, as you know, there are plenty of watches Seiko has made so there is always more to discover!
Great video as always, cheers mate
Thank you! This video wouldn't be very interesting without your list. Appreciate it!
the first gs you looked at does not have the indicator on the dial because it has a quartz movement
Another great vid. Lots to choose from. I have one GS, but no Seiko, so the one I have my eye on for the collection is the King Seiko SJE091 and I plan to pop a custom black leather band on there to match the dial. Should be a great all rounder.
Wow! Usually most transition from Seiko to GS but I know a couple collectors like yourself that did the same. That King Seiko is very distinct that will be great alongside your GS. Thanks a lot for sharing and hope you enjoy the next video!
@@ClickyBezelI own a GS, a Casio and a Citizen but oddly enough not a regular Seiko. Maybe someday. The thing is, there are enough Japanese micro-brands like Knot or Kuoe that I don't feel the need for any Seiko yet.
I bought a gold filled Chronos Special Seiko 1962 just love it.
Sounds like a great piece! Thanks for sharing!
I ended up getting a citizen nb1060 on my last trip. Really happy w it!!
Great watch. Thanks for sharing!
I highly suggest checking out the Seiko Vanac line. Incredible dials with faceted crystals
Great mention! Thecactime actually has a plethora of Seiko Vanac's and they are such interesting watches from the brand. If I come across a great condition one over in Japan, I might have to pick one up. Thanks for watching!
I'm getting the orange seiko 5 gmt when I go to Australia in march then hopefully later in the year I will have enough funds for an emperor tuna.
Two great watches! Keep me updated how you like them. Thanks for watching!
I was very dissappointed with my trip to Nakano Broadway in October. Yes, there are a lot of used watch stores but hardly saw much vintage stuff, mostly newer watches with hefty price tags. Hope your experience is a lot better.
Very curious about their pricing. If price is not justified, might as well pay a little more for a new watch if it is a modern one. I'll report back 😉
@@ClickyBezel looking forward to that video!
@@tony808watchfan7If you were looking specifically for vintage, Shellman in Ginza may have been a better bet.
Do you make music? I noticed the interface and the Rokit monitors...
Great observation! There was a time in my life when I used to be a recording engineer for local music groups, including a few bands I played in throughout high school and college.
the seiko 3883-7000 has a very similar dial to the 3803-7080
You're right! If anything, they might be the same dials. Thanks for watching!
I don't get this video - it says watch shopping in Japan but its over 13 minutes of you in front of a computer screen? What am I missing?
This is one of a series of videos that will be leading up to being in Japan shopping. This is just building up to that so be sure to stay tuned! Apologies if this video was a little misleading but it’s just the decision process before I head into the watch shopping in Tokyo!
Regardless, thanks for stopping by!
@@ClickyBezel No probs, look forward to the future vids!
Big fan of your amazing channel !
Thank you! This means a lot to me! 🙌
If you are in Japan you need to buy a i.taru from Mr ishida
This is the first time I heard of this brand. I'll have to check it out. Thanks for sharing and stopping by!
Why not show footage of you in Tokyo shopping in store?
Haven’t made it to Tokyo yet! This is just preparation so stay tuned for the full video when I’m over in Japan.
Cool. Video’s love it
Glad you enjoy them! Thanks for watching.
