I have a 2018 Mazda Cx-9 and it's the best!! My daughter is picking her 2016 Mazda Cx-9 Touring up this weekend. She got for just under 19k with 75k miles. Great deal!
After driving a float-boat 2011 honda Odyssey i fell in love immediately. Reminds me of my 2000, and 2005 honda Odysseys with stiff suspensions and crisp steering!
That's real wood trim, not plastic 👍. We bought a used 2020 with 6.6k miles and now have 40k. I've done all the oil changes and did the spark plugs at 38k. The car has been very reliable and hopefully it lasts a few years.
I actually own a used 2019 CX-9 GS trim which I got last year. After 1 year of use, the only problem I got was a battery change. I was still lucky that it was still under warranty and had it replaced with a new battery for free.
I have owned a 2018 Grand Touring with the Soul Red Metallic/Tan leather interior combo for almost 2 years. I currently have 62k miles and have had no issues. I agree about how fun this car is to drive and the "premium" feel def punches above it's price point. The best feeling is all random compliments I get from strangers whonaren't familiar with the Mazda brand. Completely happy with my purchase and I was a DEVOUT Toyota guy previously.
We have a 2016 Grand Signature. It has been a great ride until now. I started smelling the sweet smell of coolant a few weeks ago. Soon after, droplets on the ground. Researched coolant leaks on 2.5 Skyactive turbos. There is a TSB regarding an issue with bad castings on cylinder heads. Unfortunately, not covered past warranty. Fortunately I have an extended warranty and am waiting to see how much of this $7400 estimate will be covered 😢😢😢😢
So, when you chose CX9 that really means its a SPORTY suv, because I am sure you wouldn't go anything less being a driving enthusiast . I bought a 2020 100th anniversary CX 9 and virtually I dont want to get out of the car because its that nice and sporty. Thanks this review and cant wait to see more modifications from you :)
I got CPO 2019 Signature summer 2021. Great vehicle! This thing is a great cruiser; it’s very quiet. You will enjoy road trips with your family. If my previous Mazda experience is any indication, you should have a worry-free ownership experience. We gifted our 2005 Mazda 3 S to a friend after 13 years of ownership and over 213k miles on it.
Great lookin suv, but they got rid of the V6, a great engine. Everyone is going with the 4 cylinder turbo, its weak and loud. Bring back the 6, why do these car companies always have to ruin everything.
I'm looking to buy one, same year, grand touring spec... has about 66k. I"m not too savvy on their common drivetrain or engine issues, but wondering if the extended is a must. i really like these cars and the 2016s are at a good price right now.
I think it’s a motorsport thing maybe. I’ve owned and driven many manual cars and it still doesn’t feel right to me, but maybe because my Lexus (and other autos with manual mode) have upshift as up and downshift as down 🤔 But they also have paddles shifters, where the CX-9 doesn’t. 🤷♂️
@@MartyMotoring You're probably right about motosports. For instance i thin k most rallycross type cars only do up and down shifting like that, and i'm sure other types do as well
Good review ! I’ve been shopping for one for about a month. I have some hesitation from some of the issues I’ve read about. Sounds like it’s been great for you! How has it been ? How long do you plan on keeping it ? Have you noticed any rust on the roof ? Any issues with infotainment system ?
Hi! How many miles were you at when that happened? Did it affect the engine? I am buying 115k 2016 cx9 soon and seems like coolant was changed at 66k miles…
@Marty Motoring I do love that new car smell. Haven't used the warranty yet. It hasn't has a single issue. In fact, we hit 20k miles yesterday, it's holding up very well!
So in other words this is the Brave New World we live in where our choice is between a turbocharged four-cylinder that will likely fall apart after 100000 miles or a naturally-aspirated four-cylinder that has less power than a wind-up toy. Wow. Kind of depressing.
Haha it’s not that bad. Plenty of these engines with close to 200k miles. But of course turbo means wear. The best options is a V6 but most manufacturers are going away from those. I like a V8 myself but when I do drive this Mazda, it’s a fun zippy little SUV. Feels more like a lifted wagon.

To early for changing spark plugs
I just bought a Signature CX-9, absolutely love it

I just purchased a CX-9 and absolutely love it!
Had ours a month and it's by far our favorite vehicle either one of us has owned
The corners are fun in this car 😂
just got a 2022 touring plus. absolutely love it.
Great review, we are currently looking at a 2016-2017 CX-9 and this video definitely assures me I had picked the right one.
Thanks
Beautiful car, we got the 22 Azami LE (Signature in Australia) model. Stunning.

I’m in the market and it’s either this or vw atlas. Waiting for rates and crazy prices to stabilize. Congratulations
Two tone interior looks very luxurious

Thanks for watching! They are definitely very nice and I’m glad I picked something that can be fun to drive. As an enthusiast I give it 5 stars ⭐️

Thank you for this review! I am in a similar situation and this was very helpful
In australia, if you can afford to fill up with 98 fuel, the car increaes in power and torque..i love the engine sound too..
I still have this vehicle ( 2016 exact same model). Still good to go!
I have 2021 cx 9 signature. I love it.

I have an Acura MDX and I love it. Wish it was awd but I live in costal North Carolina so don’t really need it. I would consider the Mazda

The shifter thing must be to mimic a manual transmission. typically to down shift you would push the shifter up and the reverse.

Man every car has its issues no car is perfect.
I have a 2020 cx9 and can say it's the best SUV for the money. Also searching for a ISF!
Keep us updated on how the reliability is!
I think if it lasted 78k with no issues it’ll be fine long term but let’s see
My 2013 model still running like a new. 10 years in very minimal maintenance.
The skyactiv has proven to he extreme reliable
Made in Japan 👍👍👍
How did you add Apple CarPlay?
It’s real rosewood, not plastic. It’s actually quite an exotic wood obtained from a Japanese guitar maker.
Mazda CX5 2021 2.5l 6 gear automatic is the best 👌
What year
my screen went in my 2019 beware only have 30k on car 2k fix not happy
I had 2016 cx9 and had coolant leak head gasket cost me $4k smh Mazda has a lot ford parts in it, after repairs never had issue
After repairs do you have problems ?
@@yournightmare9999no I didn’t besides that is great car

Do you have a video of the $100 upgrade????
Unfortunately not but I’ve seen a few out there!
Sweet family car turbo is cool
Shoot. I should have bought used. I spent 2x as much for a new one, dang.
But low miles and factory warranty with new!
@Marty Motoring I do love that new car smell. Haven't used the warranty yet. It hasn't has a single issue. In fact, we hit 20k miles yesterday, it's holding up very well!
Why did the owner sell it?
Probably got bored after 77k miles, and got a BMW. We got it from a BMW dealer, it was traded in
@@MartyMotoringbmw is unreliable and expensive to fix compared to reliable Japanese cx9
Yeah I keep hearing about how Mazda is really reliable lately.
Yeah I think they came up with a good engine and trans combo that is proving their engineering works
Don't buy avoid at all cost 2016 / 2017 cracks on cilynder head !!!
Did this happen to you?
The class action lawsuit says models between 2016 and 2020
Like you see he can't afford newest model 22 or 23

Got a used 2018 GT with 100k. Only been a couple weeks but so far so good. When he took that turn at 60 I thought he was a goner! 🫣
