Excellent video, Joe. Love that you are transparent about the process, even making some mistakes during the process. Shows you are human, like the rest of us, and that is so cool. Keep the videos coming :)
It worked great on a digital wav track i lost the master file to... I tried on a typical old 90s band practice/gig tape and could not improve it much but i could some and it was interesting to hear what i couldn't before in any case. Keep up the good work.
Fundamentally this technology is not new nor *that* difficult to understand. It is pretty much “just” Fourier analysis. It is not some black box. This is simplifying things a little bit but the underlying technique is basically to break a sound down into a bunch of sine waves and then rebuild the sound using the desired sine waves (in this case: bass, vocals, drums, other)
Whens the next bug fix update coming? Huge issue for me where transform render audio always converts mono to stereo. I already filed a bug, but its driving me nuts.
In fact, bouncing a mono event in a stereo track actually produces stereo audio. This is how it was designed, if I understand you correctly. But I always get annoyed by this. I think bouncing all mono events should produce mono audio. Unless you mix mono and stereo to get stereo. This is obvious.
@alfting6535 the bug is a little different. Mono source and mono track is giving me a stereo render. I can understand a mono source on a stereo track rendering stereo, but everything mono should result in mono. It works fine in v6 so I'm using that for my initial tracking and then moving the session to v7 once I'm done gain staging. I just don't understand how this bug could happen, given that this feature has worked literally since implementation years ago.
I think you have to click the single circle - mono - when bouncing not the dual circle - stereo... this was happening to me all the time and was equally frustrating, but was not a bug. I now bounce mono to mono all the time. I just opened everything up so let me check what I did, and I can edit this response.
I have used Ultimate Vocal Remover 5 for the same process. But it's very handy to have this built-in now. I only use these tracks for reference, not production.
It's good to see no AI corrected Joe's mistakes. Now what would happen it you loaded only "other" in a project, can you Stem separate from that instance for further breakout?
@@presonus Thanks for the reply. When you say "most likely" that's not a confirmation. It would be worth putting the rubber to the road to see an actual outcome but I surely understand your statement and logic.
Hey Joe! I have a quest about midi on studio one 7. I recorded my drums through a roland vad506 and it's putting midi on the DAW via superior drummer 3. If I convert the midi to audio, Is there a way to go back to midi incase I notice something I need to do differently on the drums? Or is the midi track lost forever?
Please add the ability to add fades and crossfades (that can be seen visually) within sample one and impact xt. That's the only reason why I'm still working with Logic Pro.
@katentu as you already know a fade is more of a cleanup tool. It's always nice to have that functionality in a 'modern' sampler. The sound engine of these samplers are pretty good though. It's a very small addition and it shouldn't be too difficult for the team to code that in.
What I was really hoping for is the ability to separate guitar tracks. So if you needed to figure out a rhythm part or a lead part that you could pull those out. You hear that on UA-cam all the time with somebody isolates the rhythm guitar or the lead. I like being able to do the other stuff too, but instead of just having an”other” option It would be cool to be able to do that as well. So I’m probably thinking or hoping that that will be included in next year‘s update. I think that version seven was really geared for midi work, which is nice for those who mostly do Midi, I’m hoping next upgrade has a few more options for audio tracks.
@@HomeStudioCorner Not necessarily Joe, not sure that you are aware of this, but Cubase has had this feature for some time now. Hope to see it implemented into S1soon
I love the way stem separation works but I've got an issue I'm hoping someone can solve for me... When I separate the stems and add a new vocal it no longer recognises the buses, I can add effects directly to the channel but sends do nothing. What am I doing wrong?
Please note this. The sustain padal in key editor in should be there by default , which already has the pitch band and modulation feature in there. Every time searching midi 64 is overwhelming.
I've got an M1 Mac, and just last week S1 7 completely froze on me FIVE times. Not even crashes where you can force quit - I'm talking total system freezes. Had to switch to Logic Pro because I was so fed up. The nerve of them charging almost $200 a year for this
It didnt work for me. What are stems? I use a mix of instruments, including the Rieger Organ, percussion and piano. Stems seems to convert intruments to audio but not all. Creating envelopes is valuable with audio but can t be done with the organ. Bouncing the mix creates problems with CPU. I would llike a much more detaled and thorough demo. For me, this was incomprehensible. I had to get ti to NCH Wavepad to solve my problems.
I have only used Studio One been with it since version 2, do I like version 7? No…it no longer has features that I consider useful, Stem separation is especially useless and there is nothing that can do it well in any software. Have uninstalled it and gone back to Version 6 which I didn’t uninstall. Unfortunately the new Presonus doesn’t seem to be receptive to being advised that the new version is useless to some people, one has to install all the new features and there is no option to not install them. Since I won’t be using them it has become a waste of money when I can just use version 6.
@garethde-witt6433 if you have only used Studio One, how do you know others are better? It has all the features of previous versions with more added on. So why did it become useless?
Unfortunately like it seems all stem separating algorithms, it’s not that good at separating a lot of content, if it’s simple yep, but if there is a lot going on on forget it. I have yet to find one that can do it well enough for me to use on one of my songs that I need to replace a clean guitar solo mixed in with textured guitars. Non of them including the one in S1 7 can do it.
The new version is a clear deterioration, the prices have expanded and the product no longer belongs to you. I don't like the manufacturer dependency at all, I want to be the master of my computer. I bought all this and I want to continue using it. I will no longer buy a license and will fall back on the Internet until the old model is back. If this doesn't come back, you won't see another cent from us users!
@@presonus People, we customers are not as stupid as you think. We want to buy software, and we expect updates for this software. The free ultimate vocal remover 5 is so good and way better than s1, which is actually really bad, if this is what I pay for with new versions, this will be my last upgrade.

Why do you avoid to implement a voice pitch corection like all the daws have it now?Not Everyone use Melodyne.
nice feature but the steam separate quality is way behind other daws in the market.

Okey but Logic is not "other daws in the market". Is only one DAW...

Logic Pro 11 got this function for a long time ago😂. The Logic one make a cleaner vocal separation than studio one definitely 😂
It always amazes me how many trolls claim their DAW is better, but they aren't making music but instead are hanging out criticizing Studio One.
Right... Or maybe, a lot of people have multiple daws and the criticisms of presonus, especially in the last couple of years, are absolutely valid...
@uw0tm838 so why not contact Presonus and converse with them instead of leaving negative comments?
@uw0tm838 Being a multi daw user (trained in pro tools and cubase, using ableton and reaper often as well) studio one has done alot of things right

It reminds me of Spectra Layers
Audacity has an OpenVino plugin which does this for free for quite a while (1 year?). Quality seems comparable ...
Other software does the job better. This is a good start, though.
Moises has a free version looks identical to this one. The paid version separation more tracks.
Stem separation is not as good as others on the market. At least if you are gonna release a feature make it either better or just as good as others.
