    Cant believe Hutch made the list!! He's still with us, btw, & doing fine. Great guy. Learned so much from him when I was at a very young age in this sport.

    In the 80s, they wouldn't even let you see the inside of a bowling alley unless you had visible signs of male pattern baldness. Fortunately for me, I'd have been fine.

    Amleto really helped pave the way for small guys figuring out how to get real revs on the ball.

      @@crimsontide1980 and still doing it, he was in southern oregon
      but has since moved back to Texas , has a pro shop and
      doing a little electrical work also, he won the senior masters
      a few years back. thanks take care.

    Honestly, Miki's backswing generates a ton of power in her shot. That's how I was when I used to bowl. I didn't have such an exaggerated approach, but at one point, I had a super-high backswing, because my game was all about power and revs.

    Some people disagree but I think Rudy had probably 18mph with almost 600 revs so since his ball was so strong he could never win a title

    Great vid. Cool to see some old schoolers hold their own (strike is a strike). Be fun to have a "classic" match of modern bowlers and old school eq and oil patterns and vise versa.

    Miki Nishimura has an interesting style but I think there were more similar to her in Japan. Yumiko Sato had a similar release but she threw with less axis tilt than Nishimura.

      I bowled against him in college. Back in college I remember his back swing being much more behind his back and the elbow bent much more. When he made the PBA shows it looks like he smoothed it all out and looks pretty traditional in today's game.

    Changed the title to "UNIQUE STYLES" because I feel like saying Unorthodox isn't right. (BTW - Sorry if people were upset for me adding Amleto and Matt as some people say they're not unorthodox. But the next video will be great. Lowest Scores Part 3 is coming soon.)

      Frankly, as remarkable as his power game appears to the only-so-well-trained eye, I'm not sure Rudy even belongs on this list. As "unique styles" go, he's really nothing more than Pete Weber (circa 1980) with a remarkably visible measure of upper body strength..

    This reminds me of the time I went bowling. I freaked out because the waiter brought me a rum and coke with too much ice. I bowled 10 gutter balls in a row. The bowling ally management insisted I leave the premises.

    Handley is only unique in how he holds the ball in his stance and push away. Other than that he’s textbook power

    Honestly there were quite a few unorthodox styles at the 2018 usbc masters, all except for Andrew Anderson

    The thing is a lot of people question why I have such a high backswing I’m 5’0 btw and my backswing is arm length above my head so people say it shouldn’t be so high but it’s natural. I am not really a power player but that’s how I generate my few revs

    I agree with all of these. Great list! Hey I saw a guy on one of the European compilations and his ball went straight up above his head, as high at possible, and then he just stopped it there for like a full second. I wish I knew his name.

    I bowled against O'Grady in high school when he was at st Joseph and I was at Colonia
    My mother was very proud when I told her he won a pba title as she was a JR bowler director at Edison lanes when he bowled a few tournaments there

    I don't see O'Grady or Monacelli as unorthodox. If they are, you could put Richie/Dick Allen as unorthodox, because of his hand on the ball. That's how I see it, but I can tell where/why you'd say O'Grady and Monacelli

      @@fongbrandon well, his style seems to define how most crankers throw today, albeit with higher backswings and less of a bent elbow at followthrough (eventually he got rid of that and throws more of a tweener/stroker nowadays).

      Today they would not be considered unorthodox at all but in the 80s Monacelli was told he'd never last on tour because his shoulder would fall apart. Kasimakis was all about rev rate before that was even a term. Ryan Shafer got criticized because it looked like he was coming out of his shoes at the foul line.

    they slid Hoskins in this one. I watched this guy at the Orleans, very effective controlled swing, not much backswing though. I gotta say his straight ball for spares is downright perfect though

      Rudy revs stopped before he released the ball keltzow doesn’t do that and Keltzow can’t put up 550 plus revs

      Very true. But I've seen him bowl live (we're both part of the UBA) and that style doesn't change ... and is very effective. Lol

      I usually get some requests to do Amleto so I did. I think his style back then was more unorthodox back then than now.

      Amleto's style really defines most of today's crankers, but 1) at the time it was uncommon and b) most crankers today have higher backswings than him

    Rudy Kasimakis if he’s in here his style is basically normal with a high backswing like Mike Fagan, and I’ve never seen a girl with a backswing like that, reminds me of myself when I was 13, and I don’t think Fagan has been in any of these Video’s he also use a Sarge Easter Grip which is you middle finger is a finger tipped hole and the ring finger is a conventional drill, I had to switch to that due to a torn ligament in my ring finger, now I’m gonna have to come up with some kinda unconventional style my slide foot is too messed up to ever really use again it’s dead weight I wish they would just cut it off for me but they won’t

      She quit professional bowling abruptly in 2016. No reason was given but an anonymous bowling alley official later revealed she stole 60000 yen from her local bowling center.
