      If you’re going to throw 100 on TV, at least Daugherty did it in a match that he wasn’t gonna win anyway because his opponent put up a 299. It’d suck way worse to lose 299-267 or 169-100.

      @@iceman5117 That’s right. Even Tiger Woods, during his absolute prime, in 2002 shot 81 at the British Open. He had already won the Masters and U.S. Open and was only 2 strokes off the lead after 36 holes. The playing conditions were nasty in the 3rd round. Lots of rain and wind, but only three players shot higher than Tiger’s 81. But then he shot 6 under the next day to only finish 6 shots behind and in 28th place. He shot 70-68-81-65.

      Even before these 'kids'...
      I saw Earl Anthony throw something along the lines of a 140 on TV once.
      Earl Anthony was the guy who, when people saw him at a tournament, they automatically assumed he was going to be on the show, so there were only 4 other spots to win from, instead of the five spots.
      So watching Earl throw a stinker, was nothing short of JAW DROPPING. He was the LAST guy you'd have picked to throw a game like that.

    The funniest thing about these pros is they refuse to adjust their shot.

    • @BluesDeville
      @BluesDeville Рік тому +1

      Most of them can't because their balls are drilled in such a pattern and they use so much of the lane for their normal throw to compensate for offset drilling that it doesn't allow for much adjustment room. That's why the old second-arrow down-and-in strokers could adjust better than the modern crankers. All a down-and-in stroker typically has to do is move over a few boards one way or the other to find the oil. Of course, with more crankers out their laying weird tracks in the oil, it's harder for anyone to adjust.

    Back in the 90's, I was on my way to an 800 series in a sanctioned tournament. I rolled a 269, then a 279...then a whopping 126 in the last game for a 674 series. The lane oil really started breaking down on the right side in the last couple frames of game 2 and first few frames of game 3, and then went to complete shit for both myself and my opponent by the 4th frame. I was throwing a 13lb Burgundy Hammer at the time, and I couldn't throw it fast and flat enough to keep it from breaking over to the high side during that last game. Even my plastic spare ball wanted to hook, but not enough to be useful. I promptly bought a black hammer after the tournament to fill the gap.

    i saw tom daugherty 100 when it happened and with the no thumb delivery like a lot of random kids do at the local bowling alleys all i could think was it looked like a random fan was bowling against mika not an actual pro bowler

    Last weekend during cosmic bowling a young man was one strike away from 300 and rolled a 9 on his final ball. I just hope I didn't distract him with the goofy Primus song I had just started on the jukebox.

    These bowling scores are about my high scores in bowling when I got once a week on my off day. But I'm just bowling for the fun of it and they're bowling for a livelihood.

    Those 7-10 splits are weird. They hit the pocket light and left them. I think I left one or two in ten years of league bowling, but I hit the nose though.
