What I love the most about this video is how often times, it's the OPPONENT who is the first and most enthusiastic person to congratulate the bowler. I was fortunate enough to bowl a handful of 300 games in league and I will always remember my first, when I got the 12th strike, I turned around and there was my best buddy there, who bear hugged me and picked me up off the ground. I was so moved at how genuinely happy he was for me. Ya gotta love bowlers!! Side note: It is VERY telling that no one even gave "balmo" a high five. That speaks volumes.
I saw Benoit’s 300 and have it on VHS. I was most impressed by the fact it was his first TV appearance-and all 12 strikes were solid in the pocket, no “lucky breaks.” He also used a 15 pound ball.
Thanks for this JH223 - great list! I've kept a list of 300 games but knew I had something wrong, and I had not seen Jason Queen or Rhino Page's games, so this sets my list straight. Thanks again!
Amazing how those guys in the rubber and poly ball eras got the ball to carry with so little entry angle. Covering like 5 boards tops lol. Dead eye accurate.
3:26 The 52nd 300 game that Bob Learn Jr. that he just bowled that made everyone wild at that bowling alley, so loud it was like baseball or a Football fans that roars throughout the stadium.

It’s because technically the entire tournament is broadcasted live so there’s more games bowled on tv between everyone than any other tournament on tv.. so more ample opportunities to do it
Interesting that the vast majority of televised 300’s occur in the modern era, urethane and reactive resins, synthetic lanes, plastic pins. Is that the reason, or are today’s bowlers better than ever?
I would say the guys in the 60’s-80’s were better because they had to be. I started bowling in 1994 with a reactive resin ball and bowled a 300 less than a year later. The new technology is move forgiving and “almost” hooks by itself. I’ve bowled some pro/am and today’s pros are real good but the equipment and ball reps really help them dial in their shot.
Thanks to who did this video. To you kids today who hook it a ton, look at Jim Stefanich at #3 who I saw string the front 8 in a tournament when some best couldn't get the ball to wrinkle as us Oldgoats called it in the day. I bowled 35 years and only shot 298,297 and 4 290's.😏
I started bowling in 1995 with a reactive resin ball (Turbo XL) and bowled a 300 less than a year later. The balls and the synthetic lanes are like cheating, sometimes I have a five board target. I’m still a 195 at age 62. I think your high games probably meant more because you really earned them. I have 27 300’s and have no idea how many in the 280-299 range.
Best generation if you were a straight, white man. If you were anything else you weren’t represented in government, you didn’t have rights to sue your husband if he raped you. You could be legally fired for being pregnant and there was no Dutch thing as sexual harassment.
It's kindve ironic that lavoie is the person he beat to be the 2nd person to have two televised 300 games, was the 1st person to have two televised 300 games
That's what I didn't get with the list... Why were Mallot's "bonus"? Is it because they weren't PBA Telecast? I understand the team ones and the World Scoring, but surely some of the others were genuine individual TV 300S?
@@anthonyjozefek7666it’s because they were made for tv events. Yes they were 300 games, but it didn’t count for a title or a major. 300 on tv counts only for a regular title or major. Any other event is a bonus one
Looking back....Pete McCordic is dressed like half the guys on my Sunday morning league instead of a walking billboard like they are today. Technology has made bowling 300 easy.
Totally understandable because around that point the list was a little funky - Jason Queen had one in ‘97 at the Masters but ‘98 was the first year it officially counted as a PBA title/event
Has anybody notiiced how many 300 games were thrown against Walter Ray? Wow,..just wow. The poor guy is the epitome of snake bitten, but I guess thats the only way to beat the greatest bowler of all time.
horrible take considering that the first 2 hander to ever make a telecast (osku) made the show at the us open… arguably the hardest tournament. Jason himself even HAS a us open title and has made multiple us open shows. foot of room my ass, just say you can’t beat a 2 hander…
There's a lot more than just no thumb 1 or 2 hands involved. Synthetic lanes, programmable oiling machines. We've gone from rubber to plastic, urethane, and now reactive resin balls. Weight blocks from a simple pancake to symmetrical and asymmetrical cores. Training methods have improved, etc. Today's bowlers would eat those lanes and patterns, 1 handed, no thumb, or 2 handed. That's just the evolution of the game. I would like to see pin weight increased to counter the crazy pin action.

That truly was a great performance. I have it on VHS too.
6:59 RIP Tony Reyes the best 300 game will never forget

Yep. When it was the player and not the ball like today.😮
Good stuff. May as well also be an evolution of bowling video as well.
Thanks for this amazing video.
Marvelous Video 📸
I was so nervous my first 300 than my last shot went Brooklyn but I’ll take it 😂
R.I.P Tony Reyes guy was a hell of a talent gone way too soon!!
My Condolences to Family and Friends of Mr. Reyes.🙏
4:31 Best perfect strike ever!
Wow I have been alive to see everyone of them
Me too, but give credit to the person that posted them.👍
Crazy that Simonsen doesn’t have a televised 300 yet.
Keyword yet lol
Wow the crowd was even louder in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.
is it to me or did that guy kind of looks like Dr Phil when he congratulate Mike Albey praise 300 game
😂
I like how dom barrett is saying "can i throw the other two anyway?"

whats even crazier is that he won the title bowling over 1100 for 4 games

I realised that the last 4 televised 300 games have been at the PBA Tour Finals
It’s because technically the entire tournament is broadcasted live so there’s more games bowled on tv between everyone than any other tournament on tv.. so more ample opportunities to do it
I love the video but it miss the years 😁
My favorite one is norm duke can't go wrong with him he is amazing
Best I ever did back in the day was 260. However, in the PBA app. have several 300s already.
Interesting that the vast majority of televised 300’s occur in the modern era, urethane and reactive resins, synthetic lanes, plastic pins. Is that the reason, or are today’s bowlers better than ever?
Huh, read my comment. In my day if you hooked it 8 boards you had big hand. I bowled against Don McCune and his son Eugene in 83.

Love it in the older videos how classy the spectators are, Gentlemen in ties or smart shirts, ladies in dresses and blouses, the best generation.

Because people did it out of respect for other people. Now people dress for themselves. (And I'm totally agreeing with you BTW)
@10:23 a very explicit "BABABOOEY!" 🙃

Francois, Rash, and Via all have 2 on t.v. Belmo is the only one to have 3 on tv. Technically 4 if you include is special event one

Can't help but notice that even though he did it 3 times, Belmo is the only one NOBODY congratulated. HMMM!
4:31 clean
Idea: every tie game in PBA history
Yes, those rolloffs are Great!!!
RIP Mr Reyes

Broadcasting "legend" . . . . Chris Schenkel !
Ironic, I met his grand daughter last week. We are all Hoosiers.🤭
Someday ill hit my 1st career 300 game
Don't give up.
I think Bob Benoit was bowling with thumb out? Not sure though.
If you pause Benoit at the top of his backswing, his thumb is definitely in the hole.

Hang on what's the video title again?
The bonus for throwing a perfect game didn’t change at all it seems. $10,000.
It was $100,000 for a while in the 80s & 90s then back to $10,000 with the decline of bowling.
@@vintagesupermarkets5210 Or back to 10,000 with their increasing frequency.
Lanes were so walled up and easy for the petraglia and bon learn 300's lol. No comparison
Bob Ross bowled🧐
What happens if both competitors score 300?

No 13th?
Nm 12th listed twice
A little typo, but yes, Parker had the 13th

How old is jason queen now?
The 3rd was the most atrocious last strike
Even the ABC guy said “He pulled it,” and sounded disappointed.
They went down. Better than a Burried 8 pin!!!!

Should have had the year along with the name
I get they are a little more frequent now, but geez, PBA. Adjust for inflation a little!!!
Team 300 are you sure?
I respect every one until they got to the no thumb crap. Love to see todays bowlers throw on the conditions back then without a foot of room.

Mike Miller didnt use his thumb ;)
Terrible game, well you can't even call it a game can you?
Two finger two hand is such a disrespectful way to bowl it's basically cheating
