Yes and there are levels. To me, a child who makes a premeditated decision (meaning they had to sit and ponder it and all those scary imagined outcomes) to confront a tormentor or phobia and either overcome it, or get passed it, is like poetry in motion and so wholesome. I feel this is something not happening with as many modern youths.

When you fear neither death nor Pain or Fear, what is there left to stop you. Some soldiers basically laugh with levity, saying "If I die, I die". You are actually safer that way, because you aren't burdened by the fear of death. But that also doesn't mean you have no self preservation. But what it means if your death comes from unforseen outcomes, you accept it. And try to control for known outcomes. But fear of death is a burden. Death will arrive whenever it feels like.

Also makes you feel much much much better about wherever you’re at in life. Or at least for me that’s how I felt, when I initially got into boxing I was probably mentally at the lowest I had ever been in my life. This video I actually helped calm my nerves for my second amateur fight in sept. It’s the uncertainty and unforgiving severity of the sport. That worries me. 😂😅
It absolutely should worry you. Just dont let it debilitate you. Youd be dumb if you didnt at least get a little bit of that feeling before a fight. Or psycho i guess. Youre gonna go kick some ass just like he did. You got this.
Outcomes are out of our control so just show up and see what happens. The advice that has helped me face my fears the most, especially combat fears, is to accept that death is inevitable for me once that cage door closes. I accept that I will die in the cage tonight. I am willingly giving in to death. It has completely changed my mindset as well as reduced my anxiety/stress and its physical symptoms. Win or Lose, you're chasing a passion of yours which means you're living your "why", and that's Awesome and Inspiring! Good Luck and let go to the flow. Whatever will happen, will happen, exactly as planned
May sound lame, but yoga/meditation(specifically breathing excercises) around your training sessions will change the game.
When you are centred and present, the uncertainty of the future and past shrink down into the present. Gets you out of your head and into the moment.
Wont take away the anxiety, but will help you understand where that energy needs to be directed instead.

That's honest .. the good thing is how he understands the fear and make it into dangerous weapon.
Mike Tyson, Jon Jones and GSP were all often fearful leading up to fights.
Good for thought.
Fine, I’ll go to boxing class today.
Damn I struggle with that too but if I don't go I feel extremely guilty so the worst thing that can happen is I go do a run instead so my advice is to not procrastinate too much but just in case it's a real terrible day and you really don't feel like it, just take a break aka train in some other way so you always know that if you don't feel like going with plan A you have a plan B which is not too bad as well

GSP and DJ are miles and miles ahead of everyone when it comes to fight iQ and mental strength
So here's the funny thing. When he says he's afraid, he doesn't mean he's afraid of getting hit, or getting hurt. He's afraid of losing. He's afraid of getting embarrassed.
This is so on point. The one fight he wasn't afraid he got knocked out by Matt Sera. The worst thing a fighter can do is overlook an opponent no matter how much better he is
I met gsp two times walking around in Montreal. He was a gentleman and super humble.

Man's tested through his fear, pain and love all the time
Not much of a UFC watcher but GSP is one of my favorites because he is truthful and is okay to admit fear. I don't blame him for not liking fighting, it is a hard industry and one obtains lots of pain from it. In my opinion he is one of the least toxic UFC fighters out there.
Same way in business. If you are scared someone will take the market share from you, you will always be on guard and keep working like a mad man just in case your competitor is working harder than you. Huge respect. And thank you for telling us this. Respect

It's crazy that this man has literally walked through most of his opponents and spent a total of less than 1 min on his back in his whole UFC career! 🤯👌🏼
GSP wasn't the reason that I started watching MMA. But, when he came along, he was definitely the reason to continue watching MMA. So many guys out to show for the camera while Georges just trained, was humble, and game-planned for his fights like no other. You see a lot of fighters just do what they do best. Georges was like water. He turned into what you had the most trouble dealing with and beat you like a tactician. Ask Koscheck's eye.
GSP is the goat man, and I'm not even talking about his achievements
While I was in track and field I told my coach that no matter what I get nervous before each race. I'll never forget his words "Good, it means you're taking it seriously.
