McGregor is a prime example of this, talented striker but in grappling and ground grappling severely lacking which is why he looked for a way out of fighting Nurmagomedov by attacking that bus and injuring people.

I love his attitude towards fighting. I am just a hobbyist who trains a few times a week, and I sometimes let my ego get inflated by the fact that I train. At the end of the day though, fighting is not the be all and end all. Honestly, sometimes I chuckle thinking about how silly fighting can be. The UFC definitely inflates the hype. All that being said, I hope to keep training for years to come, simply because it's fun.
