Not only do the weapons seemingly exclusively use stolen models from the TF2 Gamebanana, the "balancing" they have is that "if every weapon is overpowered, nothing is."
Randomizer is THE best in this game because EVERYTHING has animations on every class. shotgun on demo? Proper reloading and hold animations. Flamethrower on heavy? Yep, animations. It is SOOOO sexy. The extra modes are where this game shines. Also there are some custom weapons servers out there too that are pretty cool
Not to mention in TF2c Randomizer, it also randomizes player aspects, with up to 7 total randomizations (including weapon changes) as far as I'm aware. I think possible changes are Primary Weapon Secondary Weapon Tertiary (melee) Weapon Health Speed Health Regeneration Weapon Ammo Weapon Damage (Rare, as far as I know) Fired projectiles (Bullets / hitscan, Rockets, RPGs, etc) Projectile Speed Projectile Gravity and a couple more things I didn't list Only exclusions I'm aware of, as far as I know, are Spy's Disguise Kit and Watch, though I'm pretty sure the Invis Watch also has special attribute randomization possibilites, such as cloak speed and cloak time.
It also is amazing how well the regular TF2 game in this version runs when all the insane hats and cosmetics are just gone. It feels like older, 2010-ish TF2 when the game didn't have insane levels of hats and other items so the game ran really well even on lower end hardware. I also noticed sentries don't build in a weird FPS it's smooth as butter. This should be a feature introduced into TF2 proper, a no hat mode or whatever, something so that lower end hardware isn't strained as much.
It'd make the hat obsessors seethe because nobody can see their cosmetics, also they're running butter smooth so they get high fps, no input lag, and are able to hit the shots, because there's no paid for effects which chug older rigs
Tbh.....I don't think all of the cosmetics are bad, but I do think the paints and some really out of place cosmetics are bad for the game. Spy for example, stuff like the Fancy Fedora, Backbiter's Billycock, Camera Beard, Frenchman's Beret, Detective Noir, Rogue's Col Roule, Intangible Ascot, Cut Throat Concierge, Blood Banker (I could go on but I think you get the idea) all of these things don't look too far out of place for the art style of TF2. If they just rolled with that for every class I think it would have been fine. A little customization isn't a bad thing.
Valve would never officially introduce a no-hat mode since that would basically undermine the entire reason why people would want to buy their hats and impact their sales.
Here’s to hoping that valve realizes that this is a simple community made game that gets no money out of making it and is made by people that genuinely love the base game, but are sick of the state it’s in and want to make a version that they have control over.
Well considering it’s valve I’d be shocked if they didn’t. They let people sell a remake of their most important game. Because valve asked them to. They’re generally a reverse Nintendo.
From a video I watched about when it was originally taken down it made it seem like Valve had to enforce their copyright or it would become void. I imagine the people who actually program at valve don't really care to much about this.
I love VIP mode in TF2Classic. It honestly helps flesh out classes like Spy and Pyro in their roles, as spy is good for VIP picks and Pyro is good for defending the VIP. Also love how they made flame particles not obscure the whole screen.
The Hunting Revolver if anything seems like a version of Ambassador that is as unfair and overpowered as people thought the old ambassador was. You do more damage on a headshot, get a semi-zoom to make headshots easier, do 40 body-shot damage at any range, and can do consecutive headshots faster without the spread recovery that the ambassador has. Just seems kinda broken.
One difference, you are not the spy. Sniper has a hard time getting out of dodge when caught, Spy meanwhile not only has medic walking speed, but also can go invisible/dead ringer out of a bad spot with added damage resistance. This rifle looks balanced in that you now play more mid range, but give up going for 50-450 damage to only 40 or 120 damage.
@@Spiffyo Spy back then had the same movement speed as sniper. That buff came after they nerfed the Ambassador. And sure, you have stealth or the DR, but good luck actually getting out with stealth, and the DR means youre gonna be useless for quite some time as it recharges.
I reccomend also checking out a project called Open Fortress, which was in the exact same situation as TF2 Classic. Essentially, Open Fortress is what you would get if you took TF2 and returned it to it's roots as a Quake mod, replacing the Team-based FPS formula with an Arena FPS formula instead. Hell, the game even has music constantly playing during matches that are remixes of songs from TF2, Quake, Doom, and Doom 2!
The hunting revolver is even more op than the stok sniper rifle... Dps wise it surpasses the smg in the close combat department... AND 120 headshots? Wtf?
You'd think it's OP in concept but in practice it's equipped less than the Huntsman iirc, the fact it can't oneshot is the reason some people don't use it despite a technically higher DPS
Seeing tf2c back is one of the things I most wanted for tf2's future. I still don't expect valve to update there game so I've been waiting for the community versions to return as they have active developers.
The beauty of tf2 classic is it can still be updated with new content. New maps and gamemodes is all it need to mix things up. Hell even new weapons wouldn’t infringe on the spirit of tf2 classic. It’s tf2 without all the artistic clutter. Maybe VSH can become an official game mode.

The older ones are tougher, more intimating. The mercs lines are great, a lot of people don’t like them but I love them. The mechanics are also cool.
If this was how the real tf2 looked and played I would never have stopped playing because I could literally go spectator and look at a patch of grass and have a better time than right now in 2022 tf2
Being able to change teams is something i miss the most, i could help out the weaker team, in retail TF2 its just impossible even custom servers block it...
I wish the Hunting Rifle was the default weapon for the sniper. It's fun to use and it encourages the sniper to get close to the action. Perhaps the Hunting Rifle could have crit fall off like the Ambassador to help it from being to much.

I think what COULD be something, albeit incredibly difficult to actually organize and execute, would be a widespread mass protest via… stopping buying and selling items. It’s how valve makes their money off the game, so it IS something. However, the problem would be getting enough players on board to make it work. However the amount of actual difficulty on the end of the individual to just not buy/sell isn’t hard, and there has been a ton of support for SaveTF2, simply making sure you get enough people on-board and “hold the line” makes the idea a real long shot…

The other thing I love about TF2 classic attention to detail is the burning death-animations. They are VERY dramatic as they should be if someone dies by fire.
The fire particles in TF2c are the old TF2 fire particles (because TF2c uses an old version of TF2). Pyro's flamethrower is also as broken in TF2c as it used to be before TF2's Jungle Inferno. It's okay tho, the devs can only do so much.
It got affected by hackers making fake servers :( (basically, it’ll show “lewd” images for your weapon slots and say your files on your computer are encrypted, but they’re not encrypted so don’t worry. Check the the subreddit for official/trusted servers that don’t download files that brick the game or affect your experience)

it was always up on an unofficial mirror which is most likely what kept the game alive during this ordeal open fortress had a mirror too but it was way more obscure and so the game is dead now :(
i would rather valve never work on another game or project ever again, but TELL us that. radio silence is just them going: "we've got a good reputation, let's not ruin it by telling our fans the truth"
that sniper rifle still has issues but is definitely more balanced. Sure at low level its stronger but you cant one shot any class from across the map and the two hits for light classes is far slower than the time for a sniper main to quick scope
The Sticky bomb launcher was throwing out land mines that detonate if someone gets close. Trying to detonate them just deletes them because its just a way of being able to place them on new spots.
tbh I think the only way for SaveTF2 to work is instead of making a hashtag every player that was already a part of SaveTF2 just doesn't spend ANY money on the game until Valve makes a statement. I don't mean stop playing, just don't buy stuff, if you play that means that the servers have to be upkept and if you don't spend anything then they're being kept up for nothing, the only way to make a company fall to its knees is to punch its wallet, not its PR
something i really love is the FOV slider that lets you make the fov up to 130,as someone used to 120-150,105 gets old fast when playing the game vanilla.
i'm curious. How is the hunting rifle more "fair" than the ambassador? First. damage. The amby has a fairly low damage as a revolver, with the exception for headshot damage. And even then only does 102. While the hunting rifle does 120, has a zoom in, and has no timer where some shots will not go in a straight line. Utility. The hunting rifle can headshot, just whenever, and dealing more damage overall than the amby. The amby has a waiting period where your shot, even if dead on the head, will go sideways like a cartoon bullet. So i'm confused. Edit: if we are calling the amby not fair, then the hunting rifle is fuckin BUSTED
To give you an idea of my intelligence level, I just spent almost an hour trying to install this after hearing that TF2 Classic is back. The entire time, I was trying to install and run Open Fortress.
They don't care enough to put something into their actual game and support it more, but they care enough about someone making a good little mod of it... very interesting.

I commented on some tweets that if the mission of Save TF2 was to have a reaction from Valve: Mission success. if the mission was to get Valve to use their fuck off money to fix and improve Team Fortress 2 (the bot situation, something like putting Arena in Alternative game modes and making the Graveyard Dispenser ghosts be Dispenser Drones would help the game mode out, Territory Control going from 10 second capture rate to 45 seconds capture rate would improve it immensely and grant people enough time to react to attempted capture instead of blitzing it, something with Robot destruction would also be great) and some weapons getting tweaked would be a good start, not immediately asking for something like the Frontline, Galaxy Frontier or the Heavy update, that should come later quality of life updates are a priority. basically, ask for little Quality of life updates instead of some MEGA Content updates.
I personally think a lot of the dead modes like Arena and Robot Destruction wouldn't be very good even with some changes. I do really want quality of life updates, I think some big things would be to improve default settings, finish the darn tutorials, and add more HUD options without needing to install custom HUDS. New maps and modes are okay but what I really want is balance updates and new weapons.

For me, Weapon TWEAKS as well as game mode and map tweaks(what I suggested for Arena with the drones and to be part of the alternate game modes and Territory control capture rate tweaks) are in MY opinion only thing possible with current Valve relationship towards Team Fortress 2 aka barely any, so taking it slow and easy with the updates is needed. something like updates that add new maps, game modes and weapons additions need a Heavy update or Blue Moon tier update, while we can only get some tweaks to the already existing game modes and cheating security updates from current Valve.
Good luck with the bot situation, look at many F2P games that are popular... they have these issues. Cheaters infinitely can make and test new cheats, botters can make and test new bots just the same.
The only way to make an effective call to valve to rescue the game would be through an actual protest: have people not play the game for a while, or better yet, stop buying/selling cosmetic on the market and stop buying keys for crates for a while, en masse. You have to hurt the executives pockets, even just a bit, for the executives to care. Which is unlikely to ever actually be done.
The “I’m doing X if you don’t like it say something” email tactic is something you will use a lot. I work with clients/employees and I have deadlines to meet and I can’t wait around for your email. So yes it does hold.
One of the major flaw in tf2c is that it's core gamemode (I believe) is custom weapons game which the dev add-in and A LOT of them a severely broken, literally OP. The amount of explosive weapons given to every class is just disgusting and don't even get me started on the pyro's flame particle
Now they just need to do the quality of life things, like gun mettle switch speed, add the array of weapons we have and make them usable *cough pomson vita saw bison most of the fucking weapon arsenal*
the teleporters do have the animation! at the entraces you turn into your team color sparks in the outline of your class and then all the particles fall
We did get the tf2 account to announce an update, its been about a week sense. I'd give it another week for them to implement some kind of update and if not we go back to protesting and this time not stopping until something actually happens.
Really glad to see that more people are able to play TF2C now as somebody who was playing since the downloads went down.I really love some of the improvements and fixes in TF2C and I really wish we could have at least this stuff in normal TF2. It's a shame that Valve still hasn't responded to the arrangement with TF2C and Open Fortress. BTW, TF2C has it's own modded servers, with the custom weapons servers getting a lot of attention recently.For the normie, there are two different "Custom Weapons" servers, each with their assortment of weapons (One has a lot of weapons and the other has less weapons which feel more unique IMO. You'll know which one you're in). The official VaultF4 servers also have it's on sort of randomizer mode and "2008 Flashback" wich revers some stats to 2008 TF2 instead of modern stats, such as 125 metal teleporters
Some insight into valve. I've read a lot of interviews, it's a developer decision. Valve developers are basically told to do whatever they want, which is why you get things like steam insights and small random updates for their games. Developers could fix the game and actually make it fun again, but they just don't want to

The fact that the classic developers managed to untangle the source spaghetti code is actually a god-like feat, with how poorly optimized and moderated normal tf2 is this is genuinely the only way I can play the game and at this point in time it's probably the definitive way to play the game, even if it is a mod.
What would have been great with TF2 classic is if they actually bothered to animate some reload, firing, weapon animations. Sure they did do that on some weapons but there's just weapons out there that reuse the reloading and firing animation from other weapons. I know it's not a big deal and it's a minor detail. But it makes the weapon feel more alive, rather than being viewd as " It's a reskin but better."

if the sniper is semi competent he would sit from far away just like ambassador spys before the nerf (saying from experience)

I think what COULD be something, albeit incredibly difficult to actually organize and execute, would be a widespread mass protest via… stopping buying and selling items. It’s how valve makes their money off the game, so it IS something. However, the problem would be getting enough players on board to make it work. However the amount of actual difficulty on the end of the individual to just not buy/sell isn’t hard, and there has been a ton of support for SaveTF2, simply making sure you get enough people on-board and “hold the line” makes the idea a real long shot…

yes, the majority of the code is still created by Valve. yes, it's copyright infringement. but you're making it sound like absolutely zero effort was put in by the TF2C team.

At least it shakes up the meta. Honestly, I preferred the 2012-2013 era of TF2 which was full of imbalanced loadouts and weapons. TF2 was much better before the competetive scene pushed Valve to make a bunch of balance changes which ultimately took out a lot of the fun.

The other thing I love about TF2 classic attention to detail is the burning death-animations. They are VERY dramatic as they should be if someone dies by fire.

The fire particles in TF2c are the old TF2 fire particles (because TF2c uses an old version of TF2). Pyro's flamethrower is also as broken in TF2c as it used to be before TF2's Jungle Inferno. It's okay tho, the devs can only do so much.

It got affected by hackers making fake servers :( (basically, it’ll show “lewd” images for your weapon slots and say your files on your computer are encrypted, but they’re not encrypted so don’t worry. Check the the subreddit for official/trusted servers that don’t download files that brick the game or affect your experience)

that sniper rifle still has issues but is definitely more balanced. Sure at low level its stronger but you cant one shot any class from across the map and the two hits for light classes is far slower than the time for a sniper main to quick scope
The Sticky bomb launcher was throwing out land mines that detonate if someone gets close. Trying to detonate them just deletes them because its just a way of being able to place them on new spots.
tbh I think the only way for SaveTF2 to work is instead of making a hashtag every player that was already a part of SaveTF2 just doesn't spend ANY money on the game until Valve makes a statement.
I don't mean stop playing, just don't buy stuff, if you play that means that the servers have to be upkept and if you don't spend anything then they're being kept up for nothing, the only way to make a company fall to its knees is to punch its wallet, not its PR

something i really love is the FOV slider that lets you make the fov up to 130,as someone used to 120-150,105 gets old fast when playing the game vanilla.
i'm curious. How is the hunting rifle more "fair" than the ambassador?
First. damage. The amby has a fairly low damage as a revolver, with the exception for headshot damage. And even then only does 102. While the hunting rifle does 120, has a zoom in, and has no timer where some shots will not go in a straight line.
Utility. The hunting rifle can headshot, just whenever, and dealing more damage overall than the amby. The amby has a waiting period where your shot, even if dead on the head, will go sideways like a cartoon bullet.
So i'm confused.
Edit: if we are calling the amby not fair, then the hunting rifle is fuckin BUSTED

The balance changes made to the ambassador in regular tf2 were well thought out actually. The spy shouldn't be sniping people from across the map.
To give you an idea of my intelligence level, I just spent almost an hour trying to install this after hearing that TF2 Classic is back.
The entire time, I was trying to install and run Open Fortress.
They don't care enough to put something into their actual game and support it more, but they care enough about someone making a good little mod of it... very interesting.

I commented on some tweets that if the mission of Save TF2 was to have a reaction from Valve: Mission success.
if the mission was to get Valve to use their fuck off money to fix and improve Team Fortress 2 (the bot situation, something like putting Arena in Alternative game modes and making the Graveyard Dispenser ghosts be Dispenser Drones would help the game mode out, Territory Control going from 10 second capture rate to 45 seconds capture rate would improve it immensely and grant people enough time to react to attempted capture instead of blitzing it, something with Robot destruction would also be great) and some weapons getting tweaked would be a good start, not immediately asking for something like the Frontline, Galaxy Frontier or the Heavy update, that should come later quality of life updates are a priority.
basically, ask for little Quality of life updates instead of some MEGA Content updates.
I personally think a lot of the dead modes like Arena and Robot Destruction wouldn't be very good even with some changes. I do really want quality of life updates, I think some big things would be to improve default settings, finish the darn tutorials, and add more HUD options without needing to install custom HUDS. New maps and modes are okay but what I really want is balance updates and new weapons.
@@iminumst7827 Agreed about the quality of life stuff, better default settings with even more choice for FOV sliders, HUD options choice(Default Mann Co, Merc Class specific, Retro/Quake, Classic/Half Life, Invasion/Sci fi, Frontline/WW1&2 Army themed and even make HUD options a new workshop category to vote on.)
For me, Weapon TWEAKS as well as game mode and map tweaks(what I suggested for Arena with the drones and to be part of the alternate game modes and Territory control capture rate tweaks) are in MY opinion only thing possible with current Valve relationship towards Team Fortress 2 aka barely any, so taking it slow and easy with the updates is needed. something like updates that add new maps, game modes and weapons additions need a Heavy update or Blue Moon tier update, while we can only get some tweaks to the already existing game modes and cheating security updates from current Valve.
Good luck with the bot situation, look at many F2P games that are popular... they have these issues.
Cheaters infinitely can make and test new cheats, botters can make and test new bots just the same.

The only way to make an effective call to valve to rescue the game would be through an actual protest: have people not play the game for a while, or better yet, stop buying/selling cosmetic on the market and stop buying keys for crates for a while, en masse. You have to hurt the executives pockets, even just a bit, for the executives to care.

One of the major flaw in tf2c is that it's core gamemode (I believe) is custom weapons game which the dev add-in and A LOT of them a severely broken, literally OP. The amount of explosive weapons given to every class is just disgusting and don't even get me started on the pyro's flame particle

Really glad to see that more people are able to play TF2C now as somebody who was playing since the downloads went down.I really love some of the improvements and fixes in TF2C and I really wish we could have at least this stuff in normal TF2. It's a shame that Valve still hasn't responded to the arrangement with TF2C and Open Fortress.
BTW, TF2C has it's own modded servers, with the custom weapons servers getting a lot of attention recently.For the normie, there are two different "Custom Weapons" servers, each with their assortment of weapons (One has a lot of weapons and the other has less weapons which feel more unique IMO. You'll know which one you're in). The official VaultF4 servers also have it's on sort of randomizer mode and "2008 Flashback" wich revers some stats to 2008 TF2 instead of modern stats, such as 125 metal teleporters
Some insight into valve. I've read a lot of interviews, it's a developer decision. Valve developers are basically told to do whatever they want, which is why you get things like steam insights and small random updates for their games. Developers could fix the game and actually make it fun again, but they just don't want to

I play Orange Box TF2, and this looks very different. The explosion and fire particles in Orange Box TF2 look the same as proper pc TF2

The fact that the classic developers managed to untangle the source spaghetti code is actually a god-like feat, with how poorly optimized and moderated normal tf2 is this is genuinely the only way I can play the game and at this point in time it's probably the definitive way to play the game, even if it is a mod.
What would have been great with TF2 classic is if they actually bothered to animate some reload, firing, weapon animations.
Sure they did do that on some weapons but there's just weapons out there that reuse the reloading and firing animation from other weapons.
I know it's not a big deal and it's a minor detail. But it makes the weapon feel more alive, rather than being viewd as " It's a reskin but better."
