Sir - you bless my heart. I was born and raised in Effingham, South Caroline. I left S.C. in 1982 when I joined the military to make a life for myself. The experieces you share are priceless, for what I learned in my travels: a person's life is where worth actually is, and no one can actually place a monetary value on it - life is priceless, can't by it, can't sell it. Thank you for sharning your wealth of wisdom with us. People like you make life a better experience - better indeed...for sure! May God continue to bless us with your sharing.
Bo, you making me hungry. That's the way my dad and grandad made it. Thanks for the recipe. They also fried fish you way. Thanks for everything. Lloyd Turner
Thanks Ole Fisherman for the milk carton tip...I didn't know that...when my milk starts to go out...I turn it into buttermilk with a couple teaspoons of vinegar and make me some good bisquits 😋👍 Man thats the kind of Catfish Stew ya read about in Catfish MAGAZINE 😂👍 OUTSTANDING 👍
Born and raised in SC but moved to MA in 2020. I had Catfish stew a few times when watching football with my relatives and I loved it. I got a hankering but didn't like the recipes I saw online until I stumbled across yours. Gotta say, watching this made me feel homesick. There really seems to be a community around fishing in the south. I remember so many times we shared fish we caught with neighbors, friends, or strangers. And then them returning the favor by sharing a home cooked meal with us. There's a lot about SC I don't miss... But I do miss that feeling and community. I miss being on the water. Thank you you so much for sharing your recipe. I'll definitely check out your other vids.
I just can’t do milk based catfish stew. Tomato based, I can eat a pot. Been catching crappie at my pond, still no luck with jigs. Also having to thin out the Bass. Having to keep every one under 2lbs. Pond is out of balance.
Steve you have made me hungry watching you cook that stew. Never thought about making anything like that but I’m gonna try it. Always enjoy your videos and I really like the cooking ones. My wife will only eat catfish but I like crappie so thanks for a new recipe. Keep loving life my friend!
Absolutely looks like the finest stew I’ve seen! I would like to have been eating some of it right beside you brother! We take a bite and shoot the breeze. Thank you for this video it was delicious! 😂
Looking Good,, I haven't Tried one like this ,it's more Along the lines of a chowder, I Used To Go Down To A Little Place In Louisiana And Hunt And Fish With Some Good Friends I've Since Lost, They did a Catfish Thing but it was Done With The Rue , Soak the Cubed Up catfish Filets in Louisiana Hot sauce while they made the Rue , Then add the catfish and let it simmer , Serve that on a little Rice and a piece of French Bread On the side , O My Lord talk About Some Good eating , Ill have to try this one, your like me i cook and use the quart freezer bags for later it's enough for just me , It's good when you Been out fishing and come in Hungry, Preciate Ya Brother, Keep On Lovin Life 🐟🐡🎣🤠🇺🇸
Guess I’m too old to call ya the “old Fisherman” so I hope “ SIR” is appropriate. Spent 6 years in NC Active Duty as a Paratrooper and Combat Medic. Combat Veteran. You Sir, ROCK and may God keep you Safe!!
@@theoldfisherman2040 the reason I initially responded is two fold. First, I love your Videos. Second is, I’m aware you lost your “Life Partner.” I’m now 53 years old and my Twin Daughters were born at Bragg in 1995. They both went to college on ROTC Scholarships and Chose Active Duty Military Careers. We lost one of them in 2019. She passed from a seizure at Ft. Bragg. My point is this: you never know why God takes anyone at any Age. Kaitlyn was 23. Keep on keeping on and never let sorrow dictate the rest of your life. This may sound Callous but I’m not trained to mince words. I hope when you leave this earth, it happens in your Boat out on the lake with that Dang Looney!! Doing what you LOVE.
Hi old fisherman. That looks really tasty but I’m not a fan of catfish. I think I’d like to change to a different type of fish but do the stew like you have. What other fish would be good to prepare like this. I know crappie are about to run. Do you feel they would be good in this??? Ok thanks for sharing look forward to the next one.
I’m the same way when videoing with my channel….I can’t even film with my wife around usually. You feel like an idiot talking to a camera when other people are there

Good stuff. Was those fillets from one of the channel cats you caught?
Yes
Did not know that about the milk carton
I discovered that about 2 years ago.
Old fisherman can you tell us one day how you freeze your fish ? What is the best way?
Water in a freezer bag.
