It's really the only way The Clash could play this tune--fast as hell, with a driving feel. Totally different than the record. I used to do this tune in a cover band, a lame cover band, but I used to sing this song as the drummer. I wish we played it like this...
I feel ya, brother. I know just what you mean. I wish I had thought of covering this song back in the day. But we did a similar treatment to "London Calling" and a few other songs. Now you jogged my memory... We did heavy covers of "Jumpin' Jack Flash" and "Twist and Shout". And a cover of the Stones' cover (lol) of "Ain't to Proud to Beg".
I've heard another version of this from the old Napster days. I think the drummer goes into the tom rolls too early and was also supposed to really play soft before the out. If you watch again, you'll see the bass player come over and try to give him a que but the drummer is already all in on the toms and not even looking up, even as Joe turns around at the last bar. I wish I could find the version I'm talking about because them bringing it down there really brings the song home on the out.

the only way to never play itt fuckers
Come on man/ I'm sure you guys really weren't that lame if you liked the Clash !!!
I get it, and like how they play this live, but I still love the funk groove of the original studio track.
The piano riff!!
British rock in its purest form. No frills. No tricks. Guitar’s bass and drums and raw talent. ❤ 10 out of 10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Legendary. Absolutely Legendary.
Awesome priceless color footage.
Great Song.
Hell yes Eddie. I love the clash.
I do prefer how the original is sung, however this is still great
The original with the piano is better
A song that will live in Infamy...gg
This is interesting but not even half as good as the original version.
10/10 even the original 10/10
The way they really wanted the recording
This version is jarring but it’s growing on me
Cool video..
Joe seems to be angry at the drummer at the end?!?
Playing too fast? I dunno I like this uptempo version as much as the original.

Not good without Topper

It makes a little more sense as a Clash song now
