I agree 100%...Paul Reynolds guitar on this song is other worldly...any teenager falling in love for the 1st time can feel all of those emotions in this song
Not to mention Reynolds was probably not even 18 here. Fame and fortune at such a young age made him have a nervous breakdown. Great underrated guitarist.
DJ M Amen to that! I was born in 1972. The 80s were amazing. This is such a beautiful song. It perfectly encapsulates what teenage love felt like. it’s hard for me to imagine that teens today will be able to look back at the 2020s with the same fondness and nostalgia that 80s teens are able to.
@@caustularodriguez5601 I've heard similar about Mike. I've heard he's very difficult to work with because of his ego (according to Frank on Bands Reunited, Mike even had to go to counseling for his ego issues, though fat of of good it did). And I also heard he was jealous of Paul & Frank's talent and would make sure his keyboards were always the loudest in the mix to try drowning them out.
Paul Reynolds was a really skilled lead guitarist at that time, I wouldn't have thought that in 1983 at a flock of seaguls gig, a 20-year-old man's guitar could produce such a good sound. I like this song, my wife likes it too.
I saw them in Houston Texas in 1983. That is one night I will never forget. A young 23 year old living in my best times of my whole life. I've seen Mike Score perform now about 7 times.
Sweet man, 23 years old currently. Not a day goes by that I don’t wonder about what other great stuff they would’ve created if Paul Reynolds wouldn’t have left. Wish I would’ve been able to witness the band at these times!
I agree this is a great song that has stood the test of time. Its romantic ..progressive ...ear stimulating....original...unique and simple as well as uplifting. Sounds just as good now as it did new.
Powerful - music of the past 20 years couldn't hold a candle to this!!!! Totally Dope!! 80's timeless and unmatched decade for eternity I was kid then!!!!
People forget that Paul came up with the name for this song. And he was just a teenager when he was rockin this song. What a badass guitar player he was...
Ahhh the 80’s. Best musical decade ever. No cell phones. No Kardashians. No Twitter, FB, IG, Snapchat. Just lots of great music. This takes me back to my early teens and then college years. Great memories.
Im a long time guitarist that was heavily influenced by highly skilled rock players from the 80s (VH, Randy Rhoads, Neil Schon Yngwie etc) and used to look at bands like this as being bubblegum pop that were more of a gimmick. Im now an old man (58) and still playing guitar and I have changed my views considerably-when I look at these guys now compared to the current popular music they were a talented hard working band that had a very unique style. The guitar player looks like a little kid but has a very cool melodic approach that is quite unique, Again compared to groups today they were SO much better and "real" musicians-respect
They're "four boys from Liverpool", which certainly proves that lightning does strike twice in the same place. These guys were wonderful and we still know who they are and love them just as much today. That's success.
Ah yes, flashback time. Like others have said, still love this song and listen to it regularly. Remember hearing this song for the first time in a club, found out who it was and bought the record the next day. Have seen the band a couple of times including when they opened for Simple Minds. Good times.
I lived my late teens to late 20s in the 80s and was a big hard rock/metal fan. When this band and others similar hit the scene I admit I hated to them. I guess a lot of it had to do with peer pressure. I couldnt admit liking this song being a headbanger. LoL. Today I love hearing the old 80s pop songs like this.
So wanted to stop here and share this story and hope for this band to continue to be shared with the future generations. My mom has this album on vinyl and cd, however I only knew of I Ran. That song got reintroduced to the 90’s kids again in 2002 with GTA Vice City on Wave 103. I’m hopeful that Space Age will make its way back to a GTA game again so in number 6 I can revisit the same Vice Beach that as an 11 year old I enjoyed listening to the soundtracks of the 80’s.
Wow! The complexity of the sounds blow me away! Listening to a masterpiece like this makes me realize even more what garbage today’s music really is and how music has regressed so much over the years!
Only recently discovered this song at the end of Episode 2 of Marvel's What If... And it has totally changed my life. This surpasses "I Ran" on so many levels. An underrated masterpiece.
I had to go back and watch that episode again and... yep there it was! Guess I forgot about that. Some other Seagulls songs you should check out: You Can Run, Man Made, (It's Not Me) Talking, Electrics, Modern Love Is Automatic, The More You Live The More You Love, Heart of Steel...
I would give anything to go back to 1983.
Me too. At least for a veek!
@@proflaudeo I had a smoking hot girlfriend a 1964 Corvette coup and no cell phone !
Me too... I was 21, living the dream. My life would never be better than that.

Agreed.....today is misery compared to the 80's.
I freaking love this song. Better than I ran. The guitar is incredible
I totally agree a flock of seagulls is my favorite band and every song is great but this is definitely my favorite
I agree 100%...Paul Reynolds guitar on this song is other worldly...any teenager falling in love for the 1st time can feel all of those emotions in this song

That guitar sounds good doesn’t it it’s like a echo back to that early 80’s era
Not to mention Reynolds was probably not even 18 here. Fame and fortune at such a young age made him have a nervous breakdown. Great underrated guitarist.
Tremendous band. Paul Reynolds is a legend.
What a magical time to be alive! So happy I was an 80s teen!

Sorry To Hear That.

Born 76, Paul Reynolds was an absolute legend!!!!!!!!!!!
I was born in '76 as well, love the 80s I'm 48 now.
You was like 7 years old when this was recorded?😅wow..😂
This song defines the 80s... Paul Reynolds is the King Of Melodic Guitar playing, a total master.... even at this young age... just listen to that
He was just 20 during this performance.
Paul Reynolds was a very young and talented, creative guitar, underrated
Paul Reynolds amazing guitar work
Do you think the rest of the band knew what they had in Paul Reynolds? I hope so. What a guitarist! Phenomenal!
They knew. And Mike’s jealousy of Paul’s talent is part of what destroyed the band.
Lord take me back to the 80s. I miss them so much.
God I’m so glad I grew up in this era.
UA-cam it😂😂❤
My uncle, who got me into metal always said that you can tell how good a band is by their live performance. This speaks for itself....

Paul started playing guitar when he was 10. He was extremely talented. Played like he had many more years experience than he actually had.

Paul Reynolds is awesome.
He was widely praised for his unique guitar sounds
Paul was 17 when he became one of the pioneers of synchopated delay guitar. Ran a Rat pedal through a couple JC-120s. Absolute tone master.
He could do things with the guitar no one else could. His playing was simple but very powerful. Such a unique style he had.
We have been married 46 years and she sill makes me smile
Favorite Seagulls song.
Paul never disappoints....ever
mon Paulo !
What a beautiful song. Really a timeless classic.🙌
Paul Reynolds such a game changer in any band!
No one played like Reno.
Paul Reynolds guitar sound incredible, O always love His sound.
I’d do anything to have been a teenager in the 80’s. What a time to be alive.

Pure 80s magic. Christ how good that decade feels now we are where we are. Id go back in an instant
This band deserves more credit for their inventiveness at the time.
Also the drumming!
And, next to Paul, let's not forget swingin' Frank :p
I never get bored of this song.
Has it been almost 40 years already? I can still remember the first time I heard it in 1983, in my parents living room...
