When I first heard about a cute animal set I was furious.
Now I am furryous.
You judged the set too fast. I don’t understand how you were so fast at becoming furious when the set is all about family
@@laurentrobitaille2204 Vin diesel
This just reminds me of the SNL skit about Dwayne Johnson playing Bambi.
UwU
Frog def has bedroom eyes
Ral has always been an otter tbh
Hah. Gay joke
"Is that a sex thing?"
Okay we have bear synergies and otter synergies where are the twink creature types
@@cathalobrienregan213 thats just why jace has so many planeswalker decks to get enough cards that care about owning a jace planeswalker
For real, Seth otter know that by now.
I adore Ygra, "other creatures are food" is such a funny yet menacing line of text. Plus, mountain lions/cougers are cool. Cant wait to build a commander deck out of them ❤
“Nykthos is one of the strongest lands released in the last decade!”
Theros came out more than a decade ago 😅
You stop that
Came here to say that lol
@@TheyCallMeDioSomeone told me that Shadows over Innistrad was nearly 8 years ago today, and I felt myself age into a speck of dust.
My first set. I finally don't feel like a new player anymore
Huh. Pardon me I need to go over to the corner and collapse in to a pile of dust.
I thought every magic player knew that planeswalkers that go to Bloomburrow automatically change into their Fursona.
Sometimes people underestimate how out of the loop people are
Bloomburrow is a Plane-wide furrycon lol
God damn xD
Yeah like I know 90-95% of players don’t really follow the Lore much but some of the confusion I’ve seen on this is… dumb
Someone needs to cross check this with spice 8 rack's fursona guide.
After Thunder Junction just being a ton of characters from other plains AGAIN, Im stoked about this set being so many new characters, not just the 50 billionth Thalia etc.
Quick question, will there be more cards/creatures/instances/sorcery/enchantments apart of the Bloomburrow set that we have yet to see? New to magic an it’s unclear if spoiler season is all or some of the cards in this new set.
@@maclainholland4236 Today was just the first day, there's a lot more coming out the next week or so
@maclainholland4236 you will eventually get to see the whole set a week before the prerelease event. And just to promote other great creators you can watch Loading Ready Run stream their own preprerealease event the weekend before prerelease. They get to play with the cards before anyone else outside of wizards, its good fun
Just wait, Thalia is gonna be a literal hate bear on Bloomburrow.
@maclainholland4236 pretty much every day of "spoiler season" there are more cards being revealed. I forget the actual number, but every new standard set that comes out has over 300 cards. We still have a LOT more to see lol
omgawd, the random basic land shade thrown at Tomer at 57:14 had me laughing lol. Nicely done Seth 🤣.
Came to the comments to see if anyone else got a laugh outta this 😂
Me too
Lmao you beat me to it! xD
This set honestly just gives me a lot of simple smiles and positive emotions. Idk when the last time I got that from a mtg set but I love it.
I'm getting a lot of "Watership Down" and "Secret of NIMH" vibes from this set, and I love it.
Early hot take... Three Tree City is the biggest trap of the set. Card is going to suck in 60 card formats, once you have extended enough to make mana off it you will be out of cards and have nothing to spend mana on. Also you just overextended into a wrath.
Liking and commenting to check back later
Yeah, and as a miirym player (one of the decks he mentioned by name), I don’t think this card is good in it. If I have enough dragons for it to make a meaningful amount of mana, then I’m probably already winning.
I honestly think it does have constructed potential, but this is absolutely going to be the most overrated card of the set
That trailer absolutely ruled. Id watch that show. The cards look fun. Im not crazy about Offspring cause it looks like everything costs 2 mana more to get value. The Calamity beasts are really cool
One Ygra and two Cauldron Familiars has to be the most hilarious possible "death by cat" that's Pioneer legal
“It’s a lot easier to flood the board with colored mana pips than random creatures of a type.” Well, depends on the creature type. This doesn’t say nontoken, so this can easily outpace Nykthos in a lot of cases. Although Nykthos is probably better in most generic decks while TTC shines in specific decks.
Is Three Tree City better than Circle of Loyalty in the knights deck?
yes
😭😭😭😭
Nah
It’s just as bad… at least it doesn’t take a spell slot
3:15 I think I hear an “aaagainst the odds: today, we’re playing Three Tree City to see if it’s viable in Standard!”
Seth saying "one paw mode" 5 times straight made my day
Wizards: Maha, its feathers night
Me: Shaka, when the walls fell
Fun fact! The guy that named the card confirmed the name being a reference!
This really needs more likes. Such a great reference. 👌
Temba, his arms wide
Ygra is gonna make cauldron familiar self mill a crazy strong deck. Two familiars in graveyard go infinite as long as you have anything to sac other than ygra. No need for witch's oven.
One fimilar on the field and one in the graveyard just goes infinite. Soo much fun...
Also combos well with the desist half of cease//desist
Ygra is mycosynth lattice for creatures. Weirdly enough, there’s never been a card other than mycosynth lattice that just statically turns your opponents stuff into artifacts. So just based on that fact alone there are brews that this card could be a part of.
The downside is that outside of being able to potentially lock down your opponents lands mycosynth lattice is pretty meh, and at least ygra is a creature. So as long as you’re okay with running cards like nature’s revolt with your karn, it’s basically another mycosynth lattice
Why can't cauldron familiar loop with itself? Sac then the ability resolves to return it to the battlefield.
@@quzzar familiar has to be in the graveyard to activate that ability
If you have two cauldron familiars and Ygra, it goes infinite.
Ygra + Camellia (the one that gives squirrels when you sac food) + free sac outlet also goes infinite, right?
Richard finally doesn’t need to play Toski in a bird deck.
‘Putting a +1/+1 counter on your entire team usually starts at 4 mana’, also Basri’s Solidarity
been waiting for this all day. thank you spoiler season!!! i’ve been arguing that fall is a great card this whole day please please please like it
edit: he didn’t like it💔
The cards themselves don’t have me insanely pumped, but I am excited that the “fantasy animals” theme can create a nice kid-friendly entry point to the game. My kids don’t care about zombies and samurai, but will cackle with delight at an otter casting lightning bolt.
If I was still in my redwall phase, I'd eat this set up like it was part of the series. It is a little odd the next standard set is horror tho lol
@@AndrewS-vu4jiIt appeals to separate demographics within the same fiscal year.
@@Garlly34 yeah, I know. It just feels a little odd to do it one after another
57:16 the quick jab at Tomer LOL
I will say that Nykthos is a substantially stronger card than Three Tree City. It is not particularly difficult for a Nykthos deck to get 4+ pips ready and accounted for on two permanents, while the pool of useable cards that make multiple creatures of the same type is substantially smaller. Nykthos also benefits hugely from Leylines getting Nykthos online turn zero, which is something TTC lacks entirely outside of Chancellor of the Forge.
Something three tree city does have over nykthos is that it can actually fix your mana.
If you have like 4 white creatures but have a black spell you want to play nykthos won't help you but Three Tree City will
@@TheTLProductions12it also adds mana for tokens which nyx doesn't.
A little on-the-nose turning Ral into an otter, no?
They really did that to the gay planeswalker
This way plane. This way plane.
@@zackestin1368then all planeswalkers would have been otters
@@PopoTCG Too true
What's wrong with this game's player base? This is why we can't have nice things.
Correction at 2:06 Not to be a Nitpicking Nerd, but Nykthos is just OVER a decade old. Now I feel old and I am angry
This set is so adorable. No wonder Phyrexia couldn’t bring itself to invade the plane.
Ral, Crackling Wit + plotted cards to try to hit the ultimate ASAP
Maybe include Jace from OTJ to plot more things?
It’s probably more jank than I want it to be
I love this video. I've been looking forward to this video all week i can't wait to enjoy it lol.
Wow those reprints with new art is amazing. Bravo to the artist.
FYI, wedding ring does not work they way you think with Ms. Bumbleflower, you only draw cards in your opponent's turn.
Hot take, Three Tree City is much more narrow than Seth thinks. You have to have 4 creatures of the same type on the battlefield for it to be better than any other land. In a standard where 4 mana wraths are the baseline, how often do you realistically think that is going to happen? Heck even in tribal EDH decks, how often do you have that many creatures outside of token decks or super low to the ground decks like Elves? I think it will have a home for sure, but I don't think its as universally powerful as he thinks.
In standard you're probably right in edh it will definitely be very good
@@CFC6788-gs2rlI mean its definitely not great in dinosaurs or dragons etc you don't put enough bodies in the board to justify it.
Still never gonna drop below 20 bucks though because edh players will jam any typal card that even resembles playability
There’s no way it sees any legacy play
@@Pshyconumber13 if you have 5 or more dinos on board it's good and I've definitely seen dinos put that number and quite a few more on board sometimes even in 1 turn
I love watching MTGGoldfish but since I follow spoilers on my own, on places like Twitter, i’ve never really needed to watch the spoiler videos. But for Bloomburrow I did my best to avoid spoilers outside of these videos and man was it rewarding. Seth does an amazing job on card analysis and also leaving my own mind to come to conclusions in a way that feels less knee jerky and more entertaining. I also love the long videos because my job requires a lot of driving so being able to put on a video and listen to it is a great way to pass the time with my favorite hobby in magic and one of my favorite channels in MTGGoldfish and Seth specifically.
Ygra + 2 Cauldron Familiars (one on battlefield, one in graveyard). Sac one to return the other, lather rinse repeat until opponents die.
Not competitively viable given that there are better Familiar combos for less mana, but it's interesting that it's so simple and straightforward.
I already have an azorius bird tribal deck, this is an absolute win
56:56 "because he's only playing basic lands" made me choke on my drink 😂
Actually Seth, Season of Weaving is actually pretty good in Blue Decks that it might see some amount of play on many formats, specially on Bo3 as a sideboard staple
- The 1 Paw mode, can actually be quite useful recovery option in Midrange/Control Decks alongside Farsight Ritual and Intrude of the Mind (very important to remember that we're losing Memory Deluge (which many Blue Decks have become so reliant on) with the Release of Bloomburrow) as that top end to allow you to get more pieces later on
- The 2 Paw mode is literally the most broken of the modes since you can activate this twice per cast (and a the same time going +0 in hand advantage with that last Paw) since it can open some crazy plays in almost every Format it will be playable on. In Standard this can literally get you 2 extra Simulacrum Synthesizers out of the cast of one card (which is something i don't really want to be facing against) to give a example; In Modern, this can net you a new pair of Kappa Cannons in Mono Blue Affinity or two more Springheart Nantukos in Bant Nadu or 2 more Medallions for Jeskai Storm. Now you realize how crazy this is?
- The 3 Paw mode is basically a Mass casting of Fading Hope. Which is not that good, but is welcome since we're lacking in Boardwipes outside of Black, Red and White
14:15 Wrong, you can definitely cast X spells off the top with Glarb - he checks the mana value of the spell, not the card.
(conversely, this means you can't necessarily cast split cards off the top of your deck even if their total mana value is 4, the side you cast has to have mana value 4 on its own.)
@@zacharybarbanell1064Unfortunately, what you're describing is not how Mana Value currently works in Magic. Also, mainly as clarification, the word spell is used to differentiate between lands and nonlands, so it's used here to say that you can play still play lands off the top, but not spells (any nonland) with mana value 0, 1, 2, or 3.
The tricky bit is that Mana Value is different based on where the card is. In this case, it would mean that in order to successfully cast a spell and put it on the stack, it would have to have a Mana Value of 4 or greater while on top of your deck, and since X is 0 everywhere but the stack (202.3e) you couldn't use Glarb's ability to put a spell like Villainous Wealth or Genesis Hydra on the stack since the Mana Value would be 3 or 2, respectively, while on top of your library.
From what i can see, though, you are 100% correct on split cards. But split card rules are pretty odd since each half is treated as a separate card when attempting to cast them.
Nvm, I'm just blind
I am not 100% certain if you can choose to cast it on top of the library because there it is not a legal target but in the current wording of the card when casting it X has a value and if the spell including X costs four or more it is legal to be cast. I am not a judge and the word of a random person of the internet is obviously not worth a lot in the face of the local judge. The one you should be asking before taking game actions you are not certain of and could cause you to be disqualified.
Also it would not be the first time wizards changed a printed card to not work like it is wirtten. (companions being a prime example)
@@xXMGVXx Checking the legality of casting the spell happens after moving it to the stack and choosing X.
"They built a mechanic based on the art of Uktabi Orangutan" got me more than it should have
Honestly this is the set I was most excited for this entire year
So glad to see a phat spoiler video
Been waiting for this all day. It’s time to get Whimsical.
i play a uw prowess deck in standard rn, i love prowess sm and am glad ral gives it support :)
also, anzrags rampage is standard legal, thatll be fun w ygra
Really impressed you never noticed Ral was an otter. Good on you for not seeing race king.
Yeah this set looks awesome. Love the theme.
omg seth, you almost killed me at 56:02, o thought my screen was broken or had a glitch...
This set reminds me of Lorwyn, which was part of my all time favorite block. Even the words from those sets are included "Bramble" "Duo" "Mentor" "Thistledown". Glad MTG is going back to high fantasy.
As someone that's playing a token-based combo deck right now, I'm always paying attention to token card spoilers. Not a competitive combo, but an interesting one nonetheless:
Yrga + Chatterfang + Camellia - if you sac a squirrel, you now get 2 squirrels back (the squirrel is food due to Yrga, you sac it to an effect, Camellia gives you a squirrel due to sac'd food, Chatterfang makes it 2). If you have a free sac outlet somewhere that's infinite squirrels (keeping in mind that something that sacs artifacts would work given that the food creatures are also artifacts).
Of course, you can omit Chatterfang, and Yrga + Camellia makes infinite food/artifact/creature sacs. Now, that one might actually be viable with the right sac outlet (is there a standard sac outlet that costs no mana?), given that they're both on color and both in standard. If nothing else it's a 2 card combo that grows your Yrga infinitely large, but of course the cat doesn't have evasion.
Basically, keep an eye on those two, Yrga + Camellia might be legit.
So sure. The 4 mana 4/5 is new for white, but we do literally have a white 4 mana 5/5 that’s immune to damage and redirects it in standard right now, so it’s not like it’s an insane stat line
“Sure you can put the rabbit lord in your bird deck but it won’t really benefit from other copies of itself” it literally does
What card are you referring to?
@@trialconesiaur1638 Phyrexian Vindicator
But, Beza is easier to Summon than Phyrexian Vindicator
It might not look as such, but being forced to have exactly 4 White to summon Vindicator is quite the big deal for most decks that are not Mono White Stompy (which is not that good in Standard Bo1 where small but fast creatures are the norm) or Fight Club (which receives a change of face and some degree on how to get into it, but the overall goal will remain in Standard since, remember that, even if we lose Fight Rigging with the release of Bloomburrow, The Big Score Mini set gave us its replacement (Collector's Cage)
Beza while, yes, it's 4 Mana, but 2 of those can be of any color (or colorless) which means it's easier to ramp into (specially in Selesnya Ramp come November (when the Foundations set comes out. And with it, Lanowar Elves) since you can actually get Beza ahead of Curve which is very important to consider in Standard Bo1 with all the Aggro infesting the format which makes the Lifegain and the Fish come into play (which turns Beza from a 4/5 into a 6/7 in overall value)
@@alpha34098 gamer did you just type that vindicator is bad because bo1 is so red aggro dominated and not stop for a second and think about what youre typing? its literally mono white midranges best matchup? untapped match data has the card at a 72% winrate for decks with 2+ of them vs all mono red decks combined, vindicator is the exact card you want to be running if you think youre facing mono red.
moreover, the comment was on the fact that he said its stats white just doesnt get and this is the first time its not defender, and I was pointing out that better stats literally have been printed in the same format the card is coming to.
Ygra and granting him protection from artifact basically makes him run wild through the board.
You missed that Season of Weaving can go infinite with any creature that copes a spell on ETB, like Dualcaster Mage!
Play season
Play mage
Target season with mage
Target mage with the copied season
Infinite ETB's, infinte spells cast, infinite card draw, and a mass bounce spell that leaves the billions of dualcaster mage tokens you just made
I'm so putting that season into my commander Izzet storm deck
Is it infinite spells cast? Or just copied?
Edit: nice find
One danger of doing this is that, if you use Dualcaster Mage at least, you need to have an out or else it’s an unbounded loop. Dualcaster Mages trigger is not a may and you can’t change modes due to the way it is copied so once everything is bounced you just have to target Dualcaster Mage over and over unless there’s a treasure token or something for you to target. If you choose the card draw option you’ll need something else on board to copy or die to milling out, but that shouldn’t be much of an issue.
Ygra is insane in the squirrels..Chatterfang, ashnods altar, and the other one that says when you sacrifice food put a 1/1 squirrel into play. Sacrifice your squirrels (food) to the ashnods make a squirrel rinse repeat for infinite mana, life and so on
Cauldron Familiar looks creates an automatic infinite loop with Ygra if you have 2 on deck. I like that.
cant wait for three tree city in my kudo king among bears deck :)
LOL playing Ms. Bumbleflower stax would be so funny
Bello, Bard of the Brambles is actually super sweet with Leylines. The Leylines don't even need to be good - as soon as you hit 3 mana and drop Bello, you have a bunch of 4/4s that refill your hand.
God I really wish we had 2 set block of this. This would of been an awesome follow-up to wilds of eldraine
the fact that no one has mentioned CADIRA CALLER OF THE SMALL for the bunny decks is wild to me. my rabbit token deck is already my strongest and it is about to get even better and even more thematic
most exited for the food cards one of my fav commanders is gyome and with the new food tech it looks really promising, we already got good tech not long ago in wilds of eldraine and now this, also need to mention the setting seems incredible with the freaking otter doing a power pose in every single art its just amazing
I am quite excited for this set. Love the plane, the art, everything we've seen thus far. Very curious what the wolf calamity beast card will be like, assuming we get one. Ruthless Negotiation has such sweet art. Fireglass Mentor is one I am excited to try and play. A 2 mana creature that draws* a card on every** one of my turns?! Lizard bob is going to be fun.
Seth, what’s your fursona? Everyone wants to know.
Maha Combi with Noxious Field! ✌️
Love the basic land in joke at tomer
Beza being a 4 mana 4/5 reminds me of Siege Rhino. sure it misses the trample, but its extra bodies, and easy playability for being mono colored makes up for it.
Valley Questcaller with Tricky Terrains might work out well to pump up everything counters. In fact there will probably be many of these creatures that will work with Omo
I love that when Seth thought of using the big cat as a sac outlet hist first two thoughts were "mindslicer everyone discards their hand" and "bearer of heavens mld" xD This set is looking gorgeous and super flavorful. A friend of mine told me the calamities were all "normal" animals because to mice and otters and small birds and lizards, facing a tiger or a big dog or an owl is suuuuper scary, as its a beast several times their size, known for eating their kind for breakfast.
Ral became an otter due to Bloomburrow's planar gimmick (think of Segovia's smallness) - only a certain list of creatures exist there, and everything that enters becomes something on that list, whatever fits best. So, Jace is a fox, Nissa is a frog, Tamiyo (would have been) a rabbit, etc.
That Tomer-basic-lands burn.. 🥲
Maha in Doran, the Siege Tower seems pretty wild too
I just saw an infinite combo with the new Squirrel Legendary, Camellia, the Seedmiser, and Ygra, Eater of All. A little set has to happen, but with Ashnod's Alter or the Ironworks where you sacrifice an artifact or creature for two mana plus any draining effect when creatures go to the graveyard. All you have to do is sacrifice one creature it will start draining people. Ygra turn everything to food. You sac a food/creature and get a 1/1 Squirrel token due to Camellia, which in turns becomes a food again due to Ygra. Just rinse and repeat.
Rarely get to watch their live stream and I’m really liking this set, it’s just “fun” lol
Beza should be in the sideboard of panharmonicon decks. I feel it could be a very good sideboard card with how versatile it is. It can catch up in basically any direction
50:33 Arcane Adaptation says that Emrakul is a Bird
I'm high on Artist's Talent. I think there's some SERIOUS legs with the level 2 ability for artifacts. You can cast multiple artifacts for free if they are 1 mana, and if you do get it to level 3 you can probably close out the game fast if you have something that pings when you cast artifacts.
the new Ral otter walker ...
T1: Plot [[Demonic Ruckus]]
T2: Plot whatever - maybe [[Highway Robbery]]
T3: Plot [[Brimstone Roundup]]
T4:
a} Otter Ral _or_ Roundup (if u want the token)
b} dump ALL the plot cards
Ral will have either 6 possibly even 7 loyalty depending when u cast the Roundup
then either tick up / down Ral depending which u need more based on game state either way it should have likely a blocker in front of it + a relatively high amt of loyalty
There were two groups of people going into this set: Those who were hyped for the set, and those who never read any of the redwall series.
10:51 The difference between these two cards is that one of them is a BOARDWIPE. Which can ALSO grant you a creature that STICKS AROUND.
Yagra is a fantastic for commander. Throw in all the new squirrels, Chatterfang and you have infinite squirrels, of infinite size.
3:59 my glissa deck will love this for phyrexian spam
Time for Furry Olive to arise, lol.
Seth's fursona, Saffwon Gowdenmane >:)
That racconta 3 mana combo well with the new racconta two mana that grow
Looking forward to play bello in pioneer with all leylines i can find.
Three Tree City in a Xyris deck. That's a lot of snakes.
Seth never disappoints with his pronunciations. Aven Brigadier had me dead
Ral was already an Otter wink wink happy Pride
I thought June was Pride month?
21:10 also if your Beza it's a vanilla 4/5, then that means you are ahead on mana, life, creatures and cards and probably the 4/5 it's just to close out.
hi Seth! would you mind readimg out the colored pips in mana costs?
Immediate thought with Bello was "four mana enchantments? You mean, like leylines?" I assume he's not gonna be modern legal, though.
I like expend as long as it doesn't have a cathaclismic effect of some kind. It's a good wording, easy to understand, helps you when you have stuff to do but it does nothing when you're flooding or having a activated abilities kind of turn. I like it. Hope they don't go over the top with it.
Come on Seth, Bello with sad robot? Hedron Archive? Conduit of Worlds? We all know you're going to build a deck whose entire purpose is playing Panharmonicon and killing your opponent with it and it alone.
Turn everything into artifacts with Ygra, then an artifact wipe board, then one shot your opponent with Ygra, sounds pretty funny 😂
The creator of Mouse Guard wants a word with WOTC.
I play Tatsunari as a sultai enchantment deck with a frog tribal subtheme cause Tatsunari can give frogs evasion so I'm excited for Glarb.
Ms. Bumbleflower strikes me as a really strong combo option - any Grand Abolisher type effect to stop interaction, and then just do a simple infinite loop (of which there are so many) to draw all your opponents out.
Season of weaving will definitely be played, if only in artifacts.
There's magic on the plane of Valley that makes any living creature turn into an animal. Ex. In the magic story a dragon from tarkir wanders into Valley and turns into a giant hawk
in cEDH the season of the bold is an instant win for magda decks. turn 5 mana into 5 treasures, sac them to magda.
Token creation with ygra and academy manufactor would be sick
Ygra, with 2 caldron familiars is an infinite combo as well no? Sack familiar (food) to familiar from graveyard.
Season of Weaving + One Ring
Copy the One Ring to reset the damage and give yourself pro-everything and bounce your non-token so you can play it when you need it.
