Took me a while, but the reason Sugar Coat enchants both creatures or food even though it only seems worth using on a creature, is because the enchantment would automatically fall off a creature once it became food if it only said “enchant creature”. Hope this helps somebody else.
Flubs the Fool might be one of the best designed commander cards I've seen in a long time. Its ability is really strong, but also super wonky and not obvious as to how to play around with it without hindering you more than helping you. Not to mention the absolutely wonderful artwork ❤ Flubs is utterly wonderful and I'm all for this kind of design.
Flubs with manabond into life from the loam would be huge. Just put in 3+ lands into play eot and flubs triggers 3 times. Since you have no cards in hand, you can draw --> dredge 3 to get loam back, then discard loam and then dredge it again.
You actually wouldn’t trigger Flubs with this effect cause flubs specifically says “play a land” not whenever land enters. It like horn of greed where alternative land enters don’t trigger it, only lands you play for turn and additional land play effects like flubs himself.
There’s a part of me that wants to figure out a graveyard-based, spell-slinging, storm type deck with Flubs. It seems like a bad strategy, which makes me love the idea even more.
Love Flubs. He’s got one of the more interesting payoffs I’ve seen recently. Glad he’s a strong build-around instead of just generic value. It’s the first legend I’ve seen that cares about an empty hand. I’m definitely going to have to try brewing around him.
Flubs is just instant/flash tribal, so that if you have 2-3 cards in hand you can dump them all in response to his trigger. Not sure how you went to future sight tribal before instants.
Recurring Deep-Cavern Bat with Zoraline in an Orzhov Bat deck is gonna tilt some people. xD Edit: Also, I know Seth said Zoraline doesn't need to be in a bat deck, and I agree... But let's be honest, if you're playing Zoraline, you're probably also playing Deep-Cavern, and possibly Aclazotz already, anyhow.
I theorycrafted a Flubs the Fool storm commander deck. Just a bunch of free spells that you can cast, draw a card, and repeat until you draw a storm spell. it seemed fun.
The first time I saw Flubs my instant first reaction was "Oh, this is kind of like a Commander version of Song of Creation", and I think there's actually a possibility it could end up really powerful? This reads like the kind of card where you can make these big stormy turns go off with Rituals and Containment Construct and cool cards to discord and use like Echo of Eons. I feel there's definitely room to make it a cool combo commander.
I'm looking into building flubs like a wingrace style landfall deck since you can play an extra lands and that kind of deck typically has cards to get lands out of your graveyard so the discard is less of a downside
Rotcaller - Oh, look, 4 different creature types I need to pay attention to in limited. And maybe constructed if my opponent also plays good cards from other sets.
Zoraline seems positioned for an Orzhov blink style deck in something like Pioneer. Getting double the value out of something like Plaguecrafter sounds solid to me.
Flubs the Fool looks like the Temur commander I've been looking for. I had a Hazoret the Fervent EDH deck a while back and he looks like a more intuitive build for a Hellbent strategy.
I may just be blind, but I currently do not see a recent video of a potentially-viable mono-black deck that can contain/control mono-red aggro (Slick-Shot Showoff can burn in hell; card is BROKEN) and/or Toxic decks. I'm recently getting back into the game (after a 10+ year exodus), and would LOVE to see what kind of standard-safe mono-black deck you could come up with!! That being said, YOUR content is what 'lit the fire' to get me back in to Magic (albeit, online via MTG: Arena), and I can't say enough about your willingness to even include the matches that you LOSE - as every single deck CAN and WILL lose matches. No deck is fool-proof, yet you don't hide that fact from the masses. LOVE THAT! Furthermore, you show the matches that looked so bleak that your losing was about as certain as 'Death and Taxes,' yet you STILL - somehow - found a way to pull out the 'W,' which helps reinforce the idea of "never give up, never surrender...because you just truly NEVER know what might happen." That's an ideal that more players need to adopt, as I recall playing in MANY tournaments where my opponent would scoop, only to look at their next card and realize they actually stood a fighting chance. Keep up the good work!!
Don't let the "lesser" clause fool you, Clement can form loops the same way Scrap Trawler does. As long as something low on the chain lets you bounce anything, you can keep going. He's going to be a pretty disgusting flash-control commander.
First thing that came to my mind with flubs was ensnaring bridge. Then i thought oh but i may get locked on one card in hand likely being a land , so seismic assault seems alright. Then i thought i have to keep ensnaring bridge around so maybe counter spells but i want a empty hand , so theres that d&d secret lair guy tht gives spells fortell. Point being theres some neat cards tht could be put with flubs , but i think madness/future sight effects are probably the better and ofc less "stax" feeling way to build it. My inner old 8rack self just wants to play ensnaring bridge again. Ofc also song of creation seems pretty sweet with flubs.
10:01 Plaxcaster Frogling was a card worth resetting in the early days of commander, but our value engines are so much better now, than a few +1/+1 counters. But its a frog, you use to want to flicker/bounce!
Omg i have this friend who always wanted to build frogs with madness.. he stopped mtg like 2 yrs ago because of heavy product fatigue.. but Flubs would be the perfect commander for him.
Seth, you missed the part that it says "lesser mana value" so the loops are bit weaker. I was thinking if it said "equal or lower" then you can have some really stupid combos. But I think this guy is just a bit weak. Edit: right after you talked about the "less than" part
im really worried that all these effects arre focused on tribal like manifeld mouse, they wont find a place in constructed formats seems to be mostly a limited mechanic maybe commander
I'm not as sold on Zoraline, and would probably compare it more to Alesha who smiles at death than Extraction Specialist or Serra Paragon As for Clement as part of an Aluren/Prayers engine, that seems incredibly unlikely as it's a pretty muddled loop and Acererak is still by far the cleanest target.
I don't often stop by to say it, but this set is actually absolutely incredible. I don't really care if the design is powerful, let alone powerful enough to see standard/modern/etc. play. It all looks fairly flavorful, thematic, and fun, and that's what I always loved about my favorite MTG sets. I hope this set is successful because I would actually try to play MTG again if there are more sets like this.
Step 1: cast Flubs Step 2: cast Eruth, Tormened Prophet Step 3: never have a card in hand again, every cast is 2 impulse draws Step 4 (tormented) Profit!
I really love frogs irl so I hope they fit my playstyle of fun fair magic not op boring magic ✨️ plz give me the well balenced deck iv been dreaming of one that counters pharexians and eldrazi toxic filth
Nooooo please go back to releasing these later in the day like you did yesterday! Its so much better when all the cards of the day are actually talked about rather than just the morning ones
This is the same as yesterday. Many of these cards are from yesterday, so tomorrow will include cards from today. It's fair to ask for the video at a different time, but nothing was changed for today besides the total number of cards, so today's video didn't take as long to make and could go up earlier
@@AMageOldAsDirt well considering that it came out around this time yesterday and there are currently 2 more rares on mythic spoilers, he missed cards that were released today.
So you're saying Frogs mechanically and thematically... Bounce? I love that. 🐸
Damn, beat me to the comment! I love it
I am so excited to make a Frog deck

“It kind of looks like a generic good stuff commander” me, shocked that a simic commander would do that
obsessed with the art on flubs!! it’s the fool tarot card, it’s INCREDIBLE, i LOVE. if i figure out how to build this deck i might just have to
Temur madness? Or some kinda flashback arcane bombardment deck
Edit: Seth started talking about this the second I commented lol

@@malte54 that is very cool! Manabond is way cheaper than I thought too, only like $2, perfect for a budget deck ♥️

Sadly, this is correct. Missed the "play"-part. That makes this frog useless af landrelated.
@@bronythekight7369 good catch 🪝.

Seth's Clement play lines are the epitome of Seth's durdling playstyle lol. Spend like 10 mana to draw 3 cards.
manifold mouse is a build your own embercleave

should work well with red's impulse draw.
“Dreadmaw Entrancer” lol
it hurt me a lil honestly
Bloomburrow art is so arty!
Missed the chance to say “hop right into it”
Flub with Song of Creation.
We've seen the commander precons and I'm shocked on how all of them seems fun to play and different at the same time.
If you're splashing white with Manifold Mouse, try Canyon Jerboa to help that trample and double strike boost.
I think Flubs could also be played with all those "Draw extra cards, discard your hand during the end step." Since those colors most of those effects
“Flubs, the fool” with “Pulse of the Grid”… chef’s kiss
Flubs is just instant/flash tribal, so that if you have 2-3 cards in hand you can dump them all in response to his trigger. Not sure how you went to future sight tribal before instants.
Flubs would also be good with impulse draw. I suppose full against the odds would be put a dark steel mutation on it and gift it
Flubs with Eruth to keep cards out of your hand and abuse the draw?
I love that he accidentally called Dreamdew Entrancer as Dreadmaw

Flubs is wizards saying “I bet you can’t make a deck out of this, you cheeky bastards”
Hate to be a downer but Zoraline mill with helping hand, bats and 3 cmc enchantment removal seems miserable for a standard meta
You don't have to play any of that besides deep-cavern bat which is great on its own Zoraline is just a strong value engine with a good kicker ability
OMG : just noticed that the frogs have a BOUNCE synergy. I love it
Amazing vid!!
For me, the card I immediately thought of with flubs was uba mask. Now we storming. Add in a recycle, then we're really storming.

This applies more to commander but Rotcaller looks like a *literal* menace in changeling tribal decks
Eruth, tormented prophet could go pretty good with flubs.
That's exactly what I was thinking!

Cards with activated abilities in graveyards could be another theme for Flubs. Better yet, it would be a busted Dragons Approach deck.
Flubs has the same art as the Tarot card called "the fool".
Are we going to call the "squirrel and rat and lizard, etc." creature type bunches "Vermin Lords"?
Omg i have this friend who always wanted to build frogs with madness.. he stopped mtg like 2 yrs ago because of heavy product fatigue.. but Flubs would be the perfect commander for him.

If you blink flubs, can you play another additional land? That would be spot cool with a future sight effect.
No, it’s a static effect, not a trigger
As I am "ToadboyMTG" I'm very happy to see frog tribal 🐸 ❤
My big question. Is Flubs only be foiled and full-art, if anyone has an answer please respond.
In the fourth quarter of next year we will have the new Lorwyn set... and if they do what they did in Bloomborrow man, I'm back in the game...
It's 2024. Of course Charging Monstrosaur needs sneaky Reach.
im really worried that all these effects arre focused on tribal like manifeld mouse, they wont find a place in constructed formats seems to be mostly a limited mechanic maybe commander
What cards can you combo with Sugar Coat to make it worth enchanting a Food? It seems you'll almost always just cast it to enchant a creature.
If it didn't say enchant food, Sugar Coat would immediately fall off of the creature it steals when it turns it into a food.
@@Buchaus Ah, didn't consider that.
I Built Flubs with lots of impulse draw then just big top end threats like both Etalis
Sugar coat should be a green or black spell. Hopefully they made a green black blue food themed legendary creature
That frog manadork and the raccoon manadork... Couldn't you use shapeshifter or other cards that are all creature types for those mana effects?
Grolnok the omnivore getting love with this set I hope, finally gunna have my frog army instead of a bunch of imposters (changlings)
Zoraline is like a mini Rudolph duskbringer and I'm all about it.
